This was my 3rd of 3 excursions from Tulum. I was pretty pumped based on the perfect reviews... I am typically not the review type but it is warranted in this case. I would rather do just about anything, instead of this trip, including just sitting in the pool. The guide was great and is a great guy. That's all I have to say good about it...

Itinerary
Sian Ka’an is a tropical wetland paradise – on this tour we visit a thin strip of land bordered by empty stretches of beach, lagoons and lush vegetation on a boat ride that takes us across diverging coastal ecosystems, through mangrove forest and weather permitting, out to the coral reef.
8km inside the biosphere, where we board a small boat to visit Boca Paila – a vital point of convergence for many animals, where we have the chance to spot the resident birdlife, crocodiles & even the rare manatee. Weather permitting, we then head out a short distance on open water to snorkel on the Mesoamerican Barrier reef, where you will be delighted by the healthy corals and fish in abundance.
Bask in the tranquility of coconut groves, take a refreshing dip in the inviting sea, and savor the moments of relaxation before our return voyage. This exceptional escapade offers an opportunity to relish the Sian Ka'an Biosphere's wonders, all within the serene ambiance of lesser-explored lagoons. After our explorations, an exquisite lunch awaits...

Wonderful and magical expérience with our guide Martin and the driver Aurelio ! Magical, no need to add more! Recommended
An absolutely phenomenal, once-in-a-lifetime experience – this is the REAL Sian Ka’an! If you are visiting this part of Mexico, you simply have to do this trip. Our day at Sian Ka’an was exceptional from beginning to end and easily one of the most memorable experiences of our entire holiday. What makes it even more special is that this is an authentic, locally driven experience, powered by the community. You are not just visiting an incredible natural environment – you are supporting the people who live there, protect it and understand it better than anyone. Emiliano, our guide, was absolutely inspiring. His knowledge of the wildlife, the ecosystem and the importance of sustainability brought the whole area to life. His passion was infectious, and you came away feeling that you had genuinely learned something about this extraordinary place rather than simply passing through it as a tourist. Juan, our boat captain, was superb. His ability to spot wildlife was incredible, and thanks to him we saw some unforgettable sights – including the magical moment of seeing a manatee with her tiny baby. It was one of those moments you know you will remember for the rest of your life. Jorge, our minibus driver, was also fantastic and helped make the whole day relaxed, comfortable and enjoyable. The authentic local lunch was excellent too and fitted perfectly with the whole experience – genuine, welcoming and rooted in the local community. This is exactly the kind of tourism we should all be supporting: local people, local knowledge, conservation, sustainability and an unforgettable experience that directly benefits the community. Forget the generic tourist excursions. If you want to experience the wildlife, beauty and soul of Sian Ka’an in an authentic way, book this trip. Truly bucket-list quality. Absolutely phenomenal. We would do it again in a heartbeat.
The tour was amazing since we got to see manatees, dolphins, sharks, turtles plus an infinite amount of fishes and birds. Our guide Cristina was amazing, able to speak French and very informative as well as friendly. We highly recommend this tour. PS: Make sure to bring some cash for the tips of the various drivers, captains and guides.
Amazing and unique experience! Our guide Jessica was very knowledgeable and just a blast to spend the day with. A perfect small group experience exploring the mangroves. We saw manatees and a variety of birds, learning a lot about this special ecosystem along the way. The highlight was jumping into the lagoon to explore an underwater Cenote. Tasty lunch provided at the end. Highly recommend!
Ursula is the most amazing guide! Her knowledge and positivity made the whole experience outstanding. Manatees, crocodile, reef snorkeling, refreshing Cenote - all capped off with a delicious lunch.
I had a wonderful time on this tour. I went on three different excursions during my time in Mexico and this was the only tour that offered pickup right at my hotel, which was wonderful. The driver Hector was friendly and attentive, and our guide Pablo was very knowledgeable and personable. We saw many birds, manatees, and some crocodiles (my favorite being a manatee mom and baby!). I am a big fan of birds and Pablo was wonderful with helping me identify and log the ones we saw. The guide team did an awesome job finding wildlife, as they know the best spots and techniques for sightings. After the adventure we got to relax and have a fantastic lunch at a nearby cenote. We were able to snorkel in the cenote which was super neat. It was a very laid back and beautiful experience. Sian Ka'an is a must see and this is a great group to see it with.
We had a wonderful experience learning about the biosphere and opportunity to see crocodiles and manatee in their natural habitat. We were lucky the current in the ocean wasn't too strong and were able to snorkel and see coral reefs and fish, if the waves are strong you won't be able to snorkel given the size of boats you're in. The lunch provided was also amazing and authentic mexican food. We ate by a cenote we got to swim in too. Lastly our tour guide Pablo and driver Axel were phenomenal, great energy and made the experience so much more enjoyable.
It was a great, unforgetable experience. Niko , our guide, gave a lot descriptions and explanations while sailing us around the biosphere . We could see the manatíes, lots of different species of birds, the mangroves We even reached the sea .. Together with the captain of the boat they made a great team. The final stop at the cenote for some swim and for lunch was great, too..
If you ever get a chance to book with MexicoKanTours, you will not be disappointed!!! My husband and I booked 2 excursions-Sian Ka'an and a Chichen Itza day tour. Both were incredible. On the Sian Ka'an tour-Martin (our tour guide) was extremely knowledgeable and our captain of the both had the eyes of a hunter!! We spotted so many manatee, multiple crocodiles, stingrays, roseate spoonbills, pelicans, tiger Herron, blue Herron, and many other birds i cant remember the names of and of course fish. It was a bit too murky to snorkel that day but we did get a chance to snorkel a bit in the beautiful cenote we visited after where we had lunch. Thats right, lunch at a cenote! The Chichen tour was a equally amazing and our guide there was amazing as well (and included another delicious lunch and ended with a cenote!!). I can't speak highly enough of our experience and am so grateful for everything we learned and the memories we made. Book them and tip them well!!!!
Pablo, our Guide was amazing! Such a passionate and nice guy, unbelievable! And with a huge amount of knowledge, you can ask everything. We had the perfect experience, really. Everything was like planned but to see the wildlife was phenomenal. We were very lucky to see everything that you can expect (manatee mum with baby!, crocodile, exotic birds, rays and fantastic variety of fishes at the reef). Everyone we met was super kind and nice (bus driver Axel, our captain or the people at the restaurant) and the organization was very professional and smooth (never felt time pressure). Even the lunch was amazing at the cenote with authentic Tacos and Aqua de Jamaica. This is an honest recommendation: If you want to get a deep dive of Nature in this area and spend a nice time with a super nice guide - Book this tour!
We did a full day tour of Sian Ka’an. Martin and Lea were our guides. We had an amazing day and the guides were both very passionate and knowledgeable about the conservation of the area and the wildlife that live there and the whole ecosystem. The boat captain was amazing too! It was one of the most amazing trips that we have ever done and would 100% recommend it! We saw sea turtles, dolphins and manatees all in the wild, absolutely amazing! The captain of the boat and guide were both very respectful to the animals. This tour took us to places that most tours don’t go to. We went to the most amazing sheltered bay where the sea was crystal clear and brilliant blue. The tour was amazing value for money.
Amazing half day trip to the biosphere. Our 3 generation group all loved it-even the teenagers! Saw many manatees, including a baby! One big crocodile and tons of birds including roseate spoonbills, herons, pelicans, ospreys, and black hawks plus others. Our guides Kenia and Maca were very knowledgeable, but more importantly were so joyful about everything we saw, describing the mangroves and every part of the interconnected ecosystem. We need more champions of nature like them! Lunch at the cenote was delicious. The van and driver were excellent, comfortable boat with a sun canopy and a skilled captain, and the communication from the office was clear and simple. Definitely recommended. Book it.
Amazing experience! Super peaceful! Santi was such a great guide! Couldn’t snorkel due to the weather but went swimming in a cenote instead.
Saw all we wanted…manatees, flamingos and crocodile.
We took the half day tour to the biosphere that focused on the mangroves and wildlife native to that area. Our guide Santiago was incredible. Not only did he know a ton about the animals we saw, but he was friendly, fun and quick to accommodate any needs along the way. One of the best tours we’ve ever taken!
Such a beautiful half day trip Santiago our guide is very knowledgeable and tried his best to spot all sorts of animals, as did the captain of the boat. Shian-Khan is fantastic. Wish I booked the full day at the reserve in advance as people have seen dolphins too when on the full day. All good though.. a very food trip!! Thanks!🙏🏻🌟
This tour was really great thanks to our guide Santiago, that was friendly and spontaneous. He was very kind and engaging with everyone to share his love for nature. This tour was a great opportunity to disconnect from the outside world and to be away from the busy tourist tours.
Wonderful tour! Our guide Lea was amazing as was our drivers. Lovely sights (we saw a crocodile, manatee and tons of birds), plus a lot of education and wonderful fellow tour goers. We will definitely book again when we’re back in Tulum!
We had an amazing day with our guide Lea. We were so lucky to see so many amazing animals that we had never seen outside of a zoo. We saw manatees, a crocodile and many amazing birds. The ecosystem of the bay, including the mangroves and the underwater cenote’s are quite special. We are really happy we carved time out of our trip to do this tour. Lea was very warm and knowledgeable, and made a great team with the boat captain to give us a wonderful experience.
We had an excellent day, our guide was Lea, who was really lovely and very informative We felt looked after the entire day, definitely one of the best tours we have been on abroad. The wildlife and scenery is superb and the time in the boat really comfortable which is worth noting as some boat trips can be the opposite. Definitely book this tour you won’t regret it!
Lovely time on the boat, great tour guides and boat captain who knew a lot about the animals and wetlands, and a nice finish at a cenote restaurant for good chicken tacos and a swim.
We had a great time on the Mayan ruins and floating tour with Alonso. He was incredibly friendly and informative. Alonso is a fantastic tour guide.
What an incredible experience! Martin and Miguel are so knowledgeable and passionate about conservation, education, and the area of the Yucatán Peninsula! We saw manatees, dolphins, turtles, fish, sting rays, birds, a crocodile, and coatis! Our guides showed us these as well as taught us about them, the mangroves, the cenotes, the canals, and the reef. I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in learning about the natural area and experiencing first hand what the Sian Ka’an protects!
Excellent excursion, well worth doing. Kenya was a very knowledgeable guide and, together with the captain, did everything they could to ensure we saw as much wildlife as possible, including crocodiles. Wasn't possible to snorkel on the reef due to wind and waves but alternative stop provided, and then a good lunch next to an open cenote. Very punctual pick up too.
Wow, what an incredible tour. I am honestly baffled why more people aren’t booking this. I get it’s not cheap, but you are booking to access an incredibly well protected piece of nature. The cost is well worth it. Our tour guide Keniya, I probably have misspelled this, was an absolute fount of knowledge, and so passionate about her job, and the area. She knew where to look for particular birds, wildlife and was so excited when she saw something. We saw an incredible range of birds which the area is famous for, we also got lucky with a few manatees and crocodiles. For me the highlight was the manatees as they are so rare. Whilst we didn’t go snorkelling, this wasn’t the reason for my trip and I didn’t find this an issue as I had been snorkelling elsewhere on my holidays. So I wasn’t left disappointed. I honestly think more people should book this tour, as at one point there was a chance it wouldn’t go ahead if there weren’t enough people and I would have been very sad to have missed this. My only feedback to the company is that it would be great if they could include a GoPro camera on the boat to capture photos/videos of the manatees underwater which aren’t easy to photograph above water and consider this either as part of the tour price or a supplement. Otherwise it was excellent.
It was a lovely boat trip spotting the birds and animals. However, there were 2 guides - one which had excellent English and one that was very difficult to understand. As we had to go in 2 boats, we had a guide who, though knowledgable, you could not understand. It ruined what is a nice tour for us.
This tour was wonderful-Sian Ka’ is amazing and the tour is well-designed. We saw lots of birds, manatees, crocs, the location where the cenote bubbles up into bay, and did some snorkeling. The guides were knowledgeable and pleasant. I would do this tour again but might opt for the full day one next time.
We very much enjoyed our tour Sian Ka’an. Our guide Danielle was exceptionally knowledgeable about wildlife and where to find it to observe. We saw manatees, crocodiles, and all manner of birds including spoonbills. We toured the estuary by boat going to multiple locations for about 3hours. Afterwards we dined at a local tacqueria with an adjacent - gorgeous, huge - cenote that we swam in. It was refreshing and we needful experience - far friendlier m the crowds. Perfect half day tour
Easy booking and good communication. Super friendly guides Paloma and Christine were delightful! Knowledgeable, safe and trustworthy company! Small lunch and a refreshing swim in the cenote were a ice way to complete the trip. Lots of wildlife, no rush and as advertised!
It was an amazing day, made even better by our fantastic guide, Kenya. We saw amazing birds in their natural habitat, four manatee and a massive crocodile. The place is outstanding, Kenya's passion and knowledge for the ecology and environmnent made the experience an exceptional one. This will be the best half day you will spend in Mexico, but be sure to asllk for Kenya
5/5 superb! Kenya and Pablo were AMAZING !! Super engaging and very knowledgeable! We were able to see so much and the captain provided us with a smooth journey!
Paloma and Christina were great tour guides, the trip was amazing we saw so much wildlife including manatees, crocodiles and lots of birds! Would highly recommend
Amazing day with Kenia and Martin who are very knowledgeable and also great people. The tour was organized extremely well and we saw some amazing sights
Our naturalist, Miguel, was full of information about the flora and fauna. We saw manatee, crocodiles, baby osprey, roseate spoonbills and four kinds of herons. Trip was a last minute addition for us as weather interfered with our usual snorkeling and scuba, but was one of my favorite activities on our two week trip.
Everything was absolutely wonderful! Our tour guide, Kenya, was amazing — incredibly professional, caring, and passionate about what she does. You can truly feel how much she loves her country and how deeply she cares about animals, which made the experience even more special. The tour was perfectly planned and very well organized — everything ran smoothly and on time. We were lucky enough to see so much wildlife, including many birds, a sea cow, and even a crocodile! It was an unforgettable experience, and I highly recommend this tour, especially with Kenya as your guide.
We had an amazing time on this tour. It was the perfect way to explore the lagoon/cenote. We saw manatees, crocodiles, roseheaded spoonbills and so much more. Macarena is a delightful guide, with so much love and knowledge about the animals. Alonso helped explain a lot about the area and Mexico in general. After the tour we had lunch at a delicious restaurant adjacent to delightful cenote. We snorkeled and paddle boarded following yummy tacos and guacamole. Highly recommend!
Martin, our guide, was wonderful at describing the history, biology and complex future of the area. The boat ride gave all of us a deep sense of calm with the rhythm of the water, wind and vistas. We saw incredible wildlife and learned about how precious this ecosystem is. Lunch was delicious and the Cenote we swam in was pristine and refreshing. We will do other tours with this outfit in the future. Thanks Martin for a great day.
We had the most fantastic experience on this trip. We saw an abundance of birds in the mangroves & were lucky enough to see two crocodiles one which was huge! Also were lucky enough to see the manatees in the lagoon, our boat stopped for about 15 minutes & we spotted about 4 at very close quarters. Lucky for us the weather was ok out on the reef so we snorkeled for about half an hour & saw beautiful corals & lots of fish . Lunch was very nice too in a cenote about 10 minutes up the road . Our whole trip was made by the guide Jessica who's enthusiastic approach & knowledge for area & wildlife was just fabulous ( along with her sense of humour) All in all an amazing experience!!
Very fun! Saw manatee noses, stingrays, a wide variety of fish and birds, ate a delicious lunch, and got home in time for a nap
Macarena and Kenya were just the best tour guides for our group. Crazy friendly and knowledgeable. Like Macarena knew every bird, I swear! We know it's luck of the draw as to whether we are able to see animals in the park but we were lucky to see crocs and manatees and all the birds! Even a coati on the way out 😅 Our day was made 100% better by Macarena and Kenya!
Highly recommend! Great adventure with wonderful guides, Ursula and Miguel. We saw the grand slam of wildlife and with detailed information about the plant life and sea creatures. Ospreys, manatees, crocs, great birdwatching. Wonderful lunch and swimming at the cenote. Bonus, Ursula has great recs for restaurants and bars.
I booked this with my fiancee and we had a great time. Our tour guide Jessica was very friendly and knowledgeable, with an intimate knowledge of the reserve and many insights into the working of the ecosystem. Our guide and boat pilot were very respectful to the animals and were careful not to disturb them. Even with precautions, we saw multiple manatees, large birds, and two alligators. I know that not all tours are so knowledgeable and considerate of the reserve, and I really appreciate the care that went in to our tour.
A super experience with wonderful guides. The whole team Washington verden velcomming. We went with Lea and Kenia....
We had a great day exploring, we saw dolphins, manatees, crocodiles, ospreys and lots of other birds. Punta Allen was a very nice laid back area with great food. Guides Miguel and Cris were great!
Pablo and Axel rock! The Biosphere tour was the best excursion of our trip. We had successful sightings of manatees, crocodiles, numerous birds, freshwater cenotes that were bubbling up into the ocean, stunning “lawns” of mangroves that stretched forever, snorkeling in the reefs where both coral and fish were in abundance, finishing off with delicious healthy tacos next to an inviting and refreshing Cenote. Our biologist and doctors in our group peppered Pablo w science questions and appreciated the more technical explanations, while everyone took abundant photos and enjoyed the relaxing day.
Second tour, second wonderful experience with Mexico Kan Tours. It can’t be a coincidence. After Chichen Itza, we relied once again on Mexico Kan Tours, this time to visit the Sian Ka’an lagoon. This time our guide was Martin. His passion and friendliness made the day memorable. His excitement and joy in spotting the local wildlife were truly engaging and contagious. Despite the bad weather, which didn’t allow us to go snorkeling, everything was still very enjoyable. I don’t know if it’s just luck, but two out of two is an excellent percentage. Congratulations to Mexico Kan Tours for choosing such great guides. They are not only passionate, but almost like friends. If we return to Yucatán, I already know who we’ll choose. ¡Viva Mexico!
Breathtaking experience, was unbelievable from beginning to end. Our guide, Macarena was extremely knowledgeable and made the trip. Exceeded all expectations, cannot recommend enough if you want something truly novel.
What an amazing tour, iber our guide wad so passionate about what he is showing you it just enhanced the experience all the more. There was no rush and nothing was a problem so relaxed, would highly recommend oh and the food recommendation was delicious too
Excellent day. Never been snorkelling before but did today & it was amazing. Saw a nurse shark, lion fish & a mass of other brightly coloured, stunning fish amongst thd coral reefs. Lovely lunch at a cenote, in a very cozy, rustic venue. Beautiful mangroves, saw several manatees and crocodiles. All in all, a brilliant time, made all the more enjoyable by our excellent, knowledgeable guide Lea. Thank you!
