If I could give this more stars I would. We adored Tanya. She provided so much information and then some!!! We were able to see more of the locations and the lunch we talked about for the rest of the trip. She gave us phenomenal recommendations for the area we were staying as well. We would have loved to have spent more time with her even after the all day. It was fun, informative, and the cenote revived us in many ways. I honestly can not recommend it enough. If you like immersing yourself in the area with smaller tours book it! Book anything with this group. Worth every penny!
An amazing day . Yes it’s long but we learnt and experienced so much , met other likeminded people and everyone was catered for . Fabulous lunch venue in a town which was fun to explore . Found a chocolate shop with amazing chocolate to taste and buy . Marco was so knowledgable about Mayan culture and history and was a perfect host . Victor drove very well on what was a long journey but it was split up well with a washroom stop to break the initial drive and with fresh water and snacks provided he was also a perfect host . Chichen itza is a wonderful place lots of crowds and lots of stalls for curio s but there was space for us all and no pressured selling . The cenote swimming was a lovely end to the day . Just bring flip flops sliders or water shoes for the gravel paths . 12 out of 10 trip for us
Lea was our guide and she was a total sweetheart! She was very knowledgeable and flexible to our group. She also took pictures of us during the activity, which was much appreciated. Arturo was also a great driver and kept us safe throughout a long travel day. Both were a ton of fun and we loved this time excursion!
Really, really amazing experience!! Paloma da best!! Experienced, polite and nice person!! Paloma way to go!!! Champagne for you!!!
Axel our driver and Paloma our guide went over the top to make the trip really nice. We got a lot of history of the place and some funny side stories on the side 10/10
Amazing! Great guides, Paloma and Axiel! Way to go! Would go anywhere with them! Thank you!!
I took both the Chichen Itza World Wonder Discovery, and the Muyil Lazy River tour. Both were an absolute delight. Lively, knowledgeable and engaged guides with Santi for Chichen Itza and Carlos for Muyil. I’ve never been on a tour before where the guides felt so much like they lived and loved the land and the history. They were passionate about the Mayan culture and enthusiastic for questions, recommended local eateries with amazing food, and gave deep insight into the area. It made both tours a genuine pleasure for more than just the location; it felt more like a group that cared to share, than a mass tour machine and it was all the better for it. Thank you to both, and Axel as the driver for both trips! Helped make Mexico a delight. I'd actually recommend booking through the Mexico Kan website; it makes it easier to pay and organise and much easier to sort the pickup costs outside Tulum.
We would highly recommend this tour. The whole experience was absolutely lovely. Every step was thought through well and the day had a good pace to it. Iber, our guide, was very entertaining, attentive and knowledgeable. The personal touch of home made snacks and environmentally friendly approach to the tour was refreshing. The cenote was incredible and not overcrowded. The lunch food was tasty in a beautiful restaurant. We were considering a cheaper option at first, but this tour seemed a lot more private and chill. It was definitely worth the money.
The ENTIRE experience was amazing! From the booking process, they were very professional and answered all my questions quickly. Picked me up early (which I loved). The vehicle was clean and cool! The tour guide Niko was AMAZING and extremely knowledgeable and just very cool! Our driver got us to every location safely so he gets all 5’s from me!! I was nervous going as a solo traveler but I am glad I did. I definitely recommend this company!
What an amazing tour! It was the perfect mix of an informational tour with time allowed to venture off on our own. Our guide was very experienced and knowledgeable and gave us a deep and nuanced explanation of the sights. Plus special off the beaten track Cenote experience! Kudos!
Ley did a stellar job of taking us to the Mayan pyramids, the gorgeous cenote, and the beautiful town of Valladolid.
Great experience with our guide Le. Highly recommend to any Americans visiting Mexico. Super hospitable. Very knowledgeable. Incredibly friendly.
Visiting Chichén Itzá and Tulum as a private group was an extraordinary experience and one of the highlights of my trip to Mexico. Exploring two of the country’s most iconic archaeological sites in a personalized setting made the journey both enriching and unforgettable. Our private guide was exceptionally knowledgeable, sharing fascinating insights into the history, culture, and achievements of the ancient Mayan civilization. The personalized tour allowed us to explore at a relaxed pace, ask questions, and fully appreciate the remarkable stories behind these UNESCO World Heritage treasures. Standing before the magnificent El Castillo pyramid at Chichén Itzá was truly breathtaking, while Tulum offered a completely different but equally spectacular experience, with its ancient ruins overlooking the crystal-clear turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. The combination of history, architecture, and stunning natural scenery made every moment memorable. The entire experience was seamless, well organized, and perfectly tailored for our private group. I highly recommend visiting Chichén Itzá and Tulum with a private guide for a deeper, more immersive understanding of Mexico’s rich heritage. It is a journey that beautifully combines history, culture, and breathtaking landscapes.
What a wonderful daytrip with a small english speaking group, our fantastic guide Marco & driver Aurelio on July 12th 2026. The hotel pick up was on time and Marco kept us always informed about the next steps of the itinerary incl. on when the next bathroom break is possible. Small details like that help to stay relaxed throughout the day. Snacks and drinks were always accessible in the car, lunch in Valladolid was plenty and tasty and accommodated different diets (e.g. vegetarian). The sun at Chichen Itza was relentless, but Marco made sure to find shadows in between his explanations and demonstrations around the ruins. We intentionally arrived early and could see the masses coming in as we left the site. The timing was excellent! Also, there is no better way to wind down other than jumping into a nice cool Cenote. Just bliss. Be mentally prepared to walk down some stairs to the water (and up again when you want to leave) though. 😉 We recommend!
I can’t recommend this tour enough! Things to keep in mind when deciding to book, which mattered a lot to a very type A girl like me and really stood out: -This is a small group tour and there was only 10 of us, which made for a very manageable group tour to maintain. There were no delays and no waiting around for a large group. -Having Marco as our guide and Aurelio as our driver was super helpful as we were able to safely leave items in the car with Aurelio and not stress about them being taken. Chichen Itza was hot and busy, so not having to carry around our change of clothes for the cenote was absolutely incredible and not something I overlooked. - There are NO hidden fees as some tour companies try to sneak on you. Chichen Itza admission, lunch in Valladolid, entrance to cenote, lockers and life jackets, everything was included in our initial price. We did not pay for anything besides our souvenirs and tipping our fantastic guides. -Water and snacks were provided in the van and we also made multiple stops with opportunities for snacks and souvenir shopping. Our experience on the tour: My boyfriend and I booked the world wonders tour to Chichen Itza, Valladolid, and a cenote. We stayed in Playa del Carmen and were picked up early by our incredible driver, Aurelio. He was friendly, communicative, and timely. We then picked up our tour guide, Marco, and the rest of the guests. Marco was knowledgeable, patient, fun, engaging, and outgoing. Every quality you could want in a tour guide. We started at Chichen Itza to beat the heat and crowd, and were there for about 2 hours. Then we headed to Valladolid for a delicious lunch and a bit of free time to explore the main square. We walked around the chocolate shop and the park area for souvenirs. Last, and our highlight of the day, was swimming in the beautiful Xux Ha cenote. It was nearly empty so our group had it mostly to ourselves. It was the perfect way to cool down after a long hot day exploring. We were then dropped back at our hotel after what was the highlight of our week in Playa del Carmen.
The day ran smoothly, travel was comfortable, and our tour guide, Tania, was extremely knowledgable. A good variety of activities to fit into one day but it didn’t feel rushed.
Amazing tour by Joseline…she was informative, funny and connected well with each person on the tour. She really made the day more enjoyable than I was expecting. Great locations to visit. Can definitely recommend!!!
Excellent tour with Marco and Arturo! They were both very professional and knowledgeable, really enjoyed it
Great trip, professional , accommodating , very knowledgeable and highly recommend. Everything was 1st class service. Marco and Arturo were so knowledgeable and professional. Left/ forgot my sunglasses in the van and they had them dropped at the hotel for me and also called to let know. Very professional and honest. I would highly recommend.
This was a fantastic day. Pablo had such passion and detail to share about the history and sights we were seeing. He really went above and beyond to make sure everyone enjoyed their day. You can tell all the partners and community involved in the day really appreciate him as well. The tour of Chichen Itza, lunch, and the choice of cenote were excellent experiences. I would bring others on this tour again in the future and hope Pablo could guide us again someday!
First off, our guide Mico was awesome. He had great insights into the history of Chichen Itza and the Yucatan peninsula in general and kept everything super interesting. Our driver Arturo was also great. The tour was very well organized and we got so much done so efficiently that it feels like a great value; whether getting to the archeological site, lunch or Cenote, everything went like clockwork. Thanks, would unhesitatingly recommend this company and tour to anyone. And thanks Mico
We had such a great time with the tour provided by mexicokan tours. Paloma and Arturo were great guides and provided a lot of interesting information, culture and history at each stop. Poloma clearly communicated our plan for the day and provided water, snacks, and even home made cookies for the guests to enjoy. We spent plenty of time at each destination and there was no rush, plenty of opportunities to ask questions and learn more about chichen itza, cenotes, and Mayan culture. We learned a lot on the trip, it was fantastic and would recommend it for anyone looking for an exciting full day of exploring.
Iber was an incredible guide. Friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating and had yummy snacks and water. Thank you for the tour
Never knew the Mayan culture and is descendants were alive and well until this trip. Leire made a wonderful transition from a cancelled Chichén Itzá to Ek Bala. She kept a rainy day from becoming a washout and really educated us on Myan architecture and practices. Lunch was perfect!
I enjoyed the over all experience. The Mayan ruins are much more beautiful in person. Photos don’t do it justice. The stop for much in valladolid was delicious. My favorite part was the stop at the cenote ! It was quite the experience getting to dive in ! It is a pretty long day and drive from Tulum but worth the experience! Oh and our tour guide Iber was very informative and had good energy!
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour making it really easy to recommend! In particular, our guide Paloma did an amazing job. She was deeply knowledgeable, enthusiastic and genuinely passionate about all things Tulum, Chitchen Itza and the Mayans. She was also super friendly and put everyone at ease. Our driver Aurelio was very personable and welcoming too, and drove very safely. The highlight was seeing El Castillo at Chitchen Itza and the very peaceful X’ux Ha cenote. Thank you for an awesome day.
This was an incredible day. I am a former tour guide and was so impressed by Cesar and all the historical and cultural information packed into this trip, all while accommodating many needs and making new experiences seamless. He has a historian's knowledge of Mayan history and culture and brought the ruins to life, pointing out carvings and weaving together the story of the complex. Lunch was delicious in a beautiful colonial courtyard, and the cenote was magical- a place we could not have gotten to on our own and will never forget.
César, our tour guide, was excellent! He was very knowledgeable about the history of Mexico and Chichen Itza. He provided snacks, was constantly checking in on us, and let the group decide what we wanted to do on the tour. We went on a hot day and César made sure we stood in the shade when we stopped. We enjoyed our lunch and walking around Valladolid as well! The cenote was beautiful and pleasant after the hot day! We enjoyed our day and would recommend this tour!
We had a wonderful day! We were picked up at our hotel promptly in the morning. Our guide Tania was so friendly and knowledgeable - she made the experience special. The ruins were incredible to see though very hot this time of year. We had a delicious lunch and then explored a beautiful refreshing cenote. Perfect day!
This tour to Chichén Itzá, Valladolid, and the Xux Ha Cenote was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. Our guide, Cesar, was truly exceptional—an incredible historian who clearly knows his stuff. He brought so much energy to the day while still being kind, patient, and attentive to everyone in our private small group. You could tell he genuinely cared about making sure we all had a great experience. He gave us plenty of time at each stop and made the tour feel flexible, not rushed. If you wanted more independence, that was totally fine, and if you preferred to stay with the group and learn more, he was right there with you. Our driver, Axle, was also fantastic—safe, reliable, and a great partner to Cesar throughout the day. Together, they made the whole experience feel smooth and well-organized. I also really appreciated the thoughtful touches: they provided fresh water, umbrellas to keep us cool, and adjusted timing based on the group’s needs. That level of flexibility and care made a big difference. One helpful tip for future visitors: at the cenote, you are required to shower before entering the water, including rinsing your hair—so if you’re not planning to get your hair wet, just be aware that you won’t be able to swim. Also, consider bringing sandals or water shoes, as the walk from the showers to the cenote can be rocky with small, pointed pebbles. Overall, this tour struck the perfect balance between being informative, relaxed, and enjoyable. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting the area. A truly memorable day!
Great experience, beyond what you would expect
So glad we chose this tour! We had a great day with Marco as our guide. We learned a lot from him and I love that he provided visual aids and even spelled out words on a small whiteboard. I’m so glad that we had a small group compared to the larger tours we saw. It meant we arrived earlier than most, a treat in the heat. Lunch was amazing and the cenote was magical. I have car anxiety, but felt very safe with our driver. Recommend this experience!
This was by far the best choice for this experience. It was a small group of us (2 other couples) which made the experience more personal and relaxing. This small size helps the timing of the trip and all in all it was a 12 hour day from pick up to drop off (from Tulum). Our tour guide, Leire, was very knowledgeable giving us the history on our drive to the chichen itza with a slideshow as well! The restaurant at the valladolid was delicious and picturesque with an authentic Mexican vibe. The cenote was AMAZING. The water was crystal clear and only 4 other people there besides us. It was clean with lockers (included in tour fee), showers and a changing room as well. They provided us with water and snacks as well. Don’t forget to bring a refillable water bottle! But if you did, they provided you with a sanitized one if needed. If you have limited mobility and need a collapsible wheelchair like we did (sprained ankle), it’s doable but challenging. There are handicap ramps at the entrance of the chichen itza but then about a 1/2 mile of rocky moderate terrain with small craters and hills. Once you get by the actual chichen itza it is a lot easier as it is flat ground. The restaurant had ramps so no issues there. To get into the cenote, it was about 50 steep steps so the limited person had to sit it out but this amazing tour let her hang out in the air conditioned van. All in all, I would absolutely do this tour with them again and do different tours with this company in the future. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. It’s worth it!
Overall great experience with our tour guide Jociline and our driver Arturo. Communication was excellent and pickup time was prompt. The tour was extremely informative and we didn't feel rushed. Enjoyed a great lunch in Valladolid and some time to shop. The cenote was a great way to cool off afterwards. Highly recommend this tour!
What a way to spend a day! Early morning visit to the stunning Chichen Itza site (avoiding the crowds and the scorching sun). Followed by a fantastic lunch in Valladolid (that food was soooo good!). And the cenote swim in the late afternoon was a magical and refreshing end to a perfect day! Thank you to our guide Tanja for the passionate storytelling along the way. You made the Maya culture come to live!
Great small group tour with this company. We were collected promptly by our driver Arturo and felt safe in his driving ability. Our guide Marco was so nice and friendly. He was very informative and answered any questions we had. We were supplied with some snacks in the morning and water throughout the day. He also kept us well informed about the day's itinerary. The meal was amazing, really good quality food and a lovely historic restaurant. A long day but very happy we went on this trip using this company. Thank you.
It was an amazing experience with our guide Marco. We highly reccommend!
Paloma and Aurelio were our guides via Kan Mexico Tours. Amazing experience and very informative thanks to Paloma! Highly recommend for families!
Excellent experience! The guide Lei was very knowledgeable and the driver extremely efficient (we had a flat and he changed it in record time). The whole day was fabulous. Nice, small group. I highly recommend this tour.
Cesar was amazing. Trip is worth every penny. Big plus for sustainable and responsible tourism
This tour was great. Chichén Itzá is obviously incredible, annd our guide did a great job bringing the history to life. Lunch in Valladolid was a highlight—the mole enchiladas were amazing. The cenote was beautiful too, and we basically had it to ourselves, which made it even better. Would definitely recommend.
Incredible Mayan ruins and swimming in the prettiest cenote of them all. Lunch was at a lovely courtyard restaurant with terrific food. Iber was a great guide.
Chichen-itza and the cenote visit were great and informative. Arriving at chichen-itza early before the crowds was important. But Valladolid is a wasted stop, which could be much improved with a short tour of the place, instead of free time to roam the main square.
Amazing thanks to our tour guide with his knowledge of the pyramid and expertise of the areas really made the trip.
My family and I chose MexicoKanTour for our visit to the Yucatán historic heritage site and we couldn’t go wrong! Our guide Paloma and Arturo the driver were superb. My family only speaks Italian and Paloma was a fantastic translator capable to switch from Spanish, Italian and English language during the tour. We found her very professional, friendly and with a deep knowledge of the Mayan/Aztec culture. The 9-seats van that carried us around was clean, spacious and comfortable. During a super hot day, Arturo was always waiting for us outside each sites with the AC on, potable water and snacks (fresh fruit and homemade cereal bars). Not just us but all the rest of the group enjoyed the tour and their company . We will definitely contact again for our future trips to Riviera Maya. Grazie di tutto!🙏🏼❤️
Brilliant day. Paloma and Arturo went above and beyond to make sure we got the full experience. Group of only 8 of us and Palomas knowledge on the area and Chitchen Itza was superb. Fantastically handled dealing with different language requirements within the group. Lunch was delicious at a lovely Mexican restaurant in the centre of Valladolid and we basically had the whole Cenote to ourselves. Water and snacks available on the transport would highly recommend, definitely worth the price!!!
We did this day trip as a group of 5 for a bachelorette weekend event. It was absolutely worth it! Paloma, our guide, and Victoria, our driver were superb! Very kind, patient, informative. The knowledge at each place - authentically Mayan as well. Highly recommend them both!!!
What a great day! First, I deeply appreciate Mexico Kan Tours' focus on sustainability. Second, Iber was great. Very knowledgeable, especially about the temples and carried many additional resources to give us a full historical view. Lunch was lovely and the cenote was a real treat! The cenote was quiet, very few other people there, very clean. A fantastic trip! Thank you Iber!
This was one of the best travel tours I've taken, anywhere! Our guide Luigi was phenomenal - very knowledgable and kept things short, sweet and interesting. The pacing of the tour was 10/10. We arrived at Chichen Itza before the crowd, had enough time to explore, then had an incredible lunch in a picturesque Mexican restaurant, before heading over to a cenote that we had completely to ourselves! No other groups were there so we could take our time swimming and taking it all in. You will not regret paying the extra dollar for this one - worth it!!
