Authentic Gastronomic Mexican Food Experience In Downtown Tulum

Great walking tour of the local food vendors to experience authentic Mayan cuisine and art murals around the city. Luis was amazing!

This was such an informative tour. The food and the information made it an incredible experience. 10/10 would do again. It rained and it made it so much durable as Tulum is so dry in heat.

We had a wonderful experience tasting our way through Tulum! Gracias Luis! Our stomachs and hearts are full, especially with the generous company of Luis and his daughter, which made the experience more fun for my daughters! It’s definitely our highlight of our week learning about Tulum and Mexican history and culture! 🇲🇽 🌮 We took a taxi from Wakax Hacienda, 20 minutes North of center city Tulum, and drop off and pick up location were easy. However, Luis even offered to pick us up. We ended the night wiith paletas, Mexican frozen treat made from fresh natural fruits such as strawberry and mango or Chocolate and Sicilian pistachio. 🍦 Luis also made sure we took some churros back with us! 🍫 🍩 Highly recommend!

This was such an amazing experience. At multiple spots we had a selection of different options to choose from. Luis is very knowledgeable about the food from different regions in Mexico and even things we passed, such as spotting almond tree pods and describing how birds place them in the road to crack the hard shell open. We went to a Mayan restaurant which was so cool, I didn’t realize there are still authentic Mayan restaurants around. We also went to a restaurant that’s been open for 25 years for authentic mole, which I’ve always wanted to try but haven’t seen anywhere. He described the different cooking styles which resulted in the same ingredient tasting different. We passed a lot of excellent street art and were able to take pictures. We also went to a local market, where he answered our many questions and we were able to get souvenirs. There were options for mild to very spicy food/toppings so this will suit many palates. Several locations had vegetarian options. Luis’ English is excellent.

Luis was amazing! He was easy to talk to, had great stories about the city, brought us to many amazing locale places, and the food was wonderful. I would suggest to do this tour at the START of your Tulum trip to get a feel for the city and to ask questions. It was 100% worth it! :)

The tour was very nice. Not only do you get to try lots of good food you get to see the town of Tulum.

Come hungry and wear comfortable shoes and elastic waist pants wouldn’t hurt either. All while getting immersed in the local scene.

My sister and I took the evening food tour with Luis. It was a great way to see the city center all lit up as there was a carnival going on! We made many stops at authentic restaurants and the food was plentiful! Luis was very knowledgeable on the culture & local ingredients, we even visited a market during the evening. He also shared many culinary traditions. It was a pleasure meeting him and we would highly recommend his tour.

This was an amazing tour with Luis. We got to eat delicious food in authentic restaurants that we would not have found on our own. And as well we learned a lot about Tulum. Luis was a wonderful companion for the evening. I would highly recommend this tour as an introduction to Tulum.

What a fantastic and fun experience! Luis provided a wonderful tour of several off the beaten path restaurants, eateries, and food stands highlighting absolutely delicious local food, including some Mayan food, and the BEST mole I've ever eaten. Luis was a delightful and knowledgeable host, and a true gentleman. He helped this old gal by carrying my bag from our earlier shopping, helped my niece find an excellent tequila to purchase, and found us a reliable taxi to get back to our resort. We really enjoyed our evening with him. Would highly recommend!

Luis is the best guide. We enjoyed and learnt so much from him. Great stops on the tour and really interesting conversations in between! We loved the first and last stops most. Traditional Mayan food and ending with Al Pastor tacos. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting downtown Tulum.

We did the evening food tour shortly after arriving to Mexico, Luis was so friendly and accommodating that we booked another 2 tours with him! We got to see lots of the town and Luis gave lots of knowledge and information. We went to real local eatery’s and had some lovely encounters with the people we met - would highly recommend!

Our guide Luis was interesting, a good English speaker , and a knowledgeable local. We went to 4 local restaurants with delicious cuisine. Luis gave us many tips on places to explore in Tulum. A must. Do tour .
