Cielo Maya Beach Tulum

We did not stay here so don't know about the rooms. We ate at the restaurant and it was very good food. Definitely tourist prices, and not casual tourists either. But the decor is great, the people are nice and the area is a great little spot to relax on the coast of Tulum with easy access to Tulum, Cobra, a wide variety of Cenotes and, if you prefer a bit larger town, Playa del Carmen.

Red flag #1: it states on the menu that coffee is included with breakfast order. They upsell instead and say that it isn’t included for people that don’t stay at hotel. Red flag #2: Was charged twice for the check. Once with Amex and once with Visa. Because they said they don’t take Amex. Had to go back to get a refund — no apologies, nothing they were gonna do about it without me pointing it out. Only normal server is Virginio. All other staff is participating in shady practices.

Just spent our honeymoon here at Cielo Maya and absolutely loved it. Of course, the time we came (May),, there was a lot of sargassm, However, the hotel had a wonderful person who did diligent cleanup daily.. It was the only beach that we could see that was being cleaned up. As far as the food goes, not very good. Would not recommend eating here. Restaurant staff expects you to tip heavily on everything you get even the free breakfast. And if you don’t give them what they expect, they Harass you and tell you that you didn’t give enough. That was really my only complaint is that I felt like no one was grateful except for the guy who cleaned the beach The room was spectacular in my opinion. I would have appreciated Mexican music over American music played in the restaurant. Be aware that you’re in a remote location with very bumpy roads so it will be quite a journey every time you go out. I loved this place and it will always hold fond memories for me. Relaxing place for sure!

Everything was amazing at this hotel! Food was delicious and vegetarian friendly options available - I swear everything was prepared from scratch and took time. We looked forward to breakfast every morning! Located on the beach and the staff did amazing keeping it clean (with all the seaweed). You could stay out on the beach all day. Rooms were clean and beautiful (the ocean view IMPECCABLE) and staff were incredible. Front desk Alexis and Jesus were always so helpful in guiding us! The location is not downtown so you might want to set aside a budget for Taxis or rent a car (parking available). We loved this place!
