Simply excellent! Scenic. Animals (elephants, buffalos, giraffes, oryx, leopard etc) by the restaurant because of a replenished water hole. Very clean pool and rooms. Very well maintained common areas. A great variety of delicious food ( they have a healthy corner.. fat and salt free). Very polite and alert staff. Children friendly. A Well stocked bar.

An exceptional experience in the heart of the park, in a truly magnificent setting. Kilaguni Serena enjoys a privileged location overlooking the park and a waterhole where animals come to drink and cool off both during the day and at night. The restaurant offers a truly unique experience. While having lunch or dinner, we were able to watch elephants, giraffes, gazelles and wildebeest gathering at the waterhole. It was a magical experience that turned every meal into an unforgettable safari moment. Our suite was beautiful, spacious and very well equipped. We were lucky enough to enjoy the same spectacular view from our room and watch the animals wandering freely and naturally through their own territory. Being able to observe wildlife from the comfort of our suite was an incredible experience. The hotel also has a beautiful, very well-maintained swimming pool, as well as leisure activities such as billiards and table tennis, perfect for relaxing between safaris. We enjoyed our stay so much that we would have happily stayed for another night. We highly recommend Kilaguni Serena for its exceptional location, excellent facilities and, above all, the unique opportunity to experience wildlife so close while enjoying great comfort.
We stayed at seven different hotels during our safari in Kenya, and this one truly stood out as the best. The views are breathtaking — not only from the restaurant but right from our bedroom as well. Nestled in a quiet spot in the heart of the savannah, it offers complete tranquility while still providing every comfort: reliable hot water, internet access, delicious food, and impeccable service. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. The photo simply doesn’t capture how stunning it really is.
Located in Tsavo West park, this lodge provides a fantastic experience. The highlight is the waterhole viewpoint at the centre of the lodge, if you’re lucky you will spot lots of different animals and it’s wonderful just being to sit back over dinner/drink and watch them. Another great stop of the safari, though be warned in the park it’s difficult to spot animals during wet season due to the amount of vegetation.
Magical place to stay, great atmosphere. You don’t need to go on a game drive to see animals, just relax at the lodge on the huge veranda overlooking the waterhole. During our two day visit Feb 18-19 2026 we saw so many beautiful animals visit the waterhole, at all times of the day. The best was the elephants and their babies arriving at sunset on the first day (see video). The second day they didn’t arrive till after dark which was still amazing but harder to see them even though there are lights pointing at the waterhole. The pool, grounds, food and staff were all excellent. The room was very nice. No air conditioning, just a ceiling fan, if you are hot you can request an additional standing fan. You can request a room with a view of the waterhole, second floor would have the best view. You have to pay the park fee directly to the park service USD 80 per person per day on the day you arrive, and on the day you leave and every day you go on a game drive. If you or your guide have not already paid it in advance allow extra time for that. We were able to pay with Visa at the gate, on our way out, going to the train station, took about 15 minutes for processing, and there was no line. The train ride to Mombasa was not that interesting. If I could do it again, I would fly, there is an airstrip near the lodge.
