It was an amazing experience with Anna on 10/20. We hiked up a trail that took around an hour to reach the peak and there were picturesque Fjord views! It’s beautiful, words cannot accurately describe the wonderful experience! We had a nice break for tea and Norwegian snacks. Anna was wonderful - super knowledgeable, friendly, and interesting! She kept us entertained throughout the hike with her life stories! I would highly recommend her as a guide - one of the best tours I’ve had!

A beautiful walk in nature, our first of the season in late autumn, just before the first snow. Our guide, Gerard, taught us so much about Norway’s nature, wildlife, and landscapes. The little snack and hot drinks were a lovely touch and much appreciated. The walk is easy and accessible to everyone, with a relaxed and comfortable pace. We highly recommend this experience!
My husband and I were on our honeymoon and I couldn’t be more happy that we chose to do this. It was not only a workout too but the views and guide made it all so incredible. It was personalized to the guide and Ganni couldn’t have chosen a better route and view. Overall would 100% recommend to everyone visiting!
We had such an amazing experience, thank you! The snow covered mountains were breathtaking to walk amongst and the sledging was fun! Our guide tailored the route to the groups abilities and we went much further and higher than expected. Lunch and coffee was perfect too whilst enjoying the stunning views. Thank you very much Aneta, Emma.
Book it. Chances are, if you’re in Tromso, you already like nature - this was such a great way to see the surrounding area, some awesome views and also some of the local wildlife - raindeer, ptarmigans. Would say it’s 100% worth the money - try and get a sunny day if you can (Bring sun cream). Takes 3-4 hours in total.
Amazing snowshoe walk in Norway! Spotting reindeer and capturing stunning photos made it truly unforgettable!
I was warned that snowshoeing can be a real workout and they are not wrong. However, well worth it! The views were stunning and the guide was fantastic.
Absolutely amazing experience! Nicolas and Cristobal were phenomenal guides. Views were beautiful, would highly recommend!
We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Our guide, Aneta, was fabulous. I will say the activity was more strenuous than I thought. However, Aneta, and the entire group were extremely supportive and patient. The scenery was unbelievable… absolutely stunning! Thank you Wandering Owl for an unforgettable time!
100/10, had a great time! Nicolas and Jens were great guides that explained everything and allowed everyone to have a great time
This was an amazing hike! Absolutely beautiful views and we had the best time sliding down the hills. They provided a delicious Vegan/vegetarian lunch and warm drinks. The guides Nicolas and Jens were very helpful and personable. They made sure everyone was comfortable. Highly recommend this tour!
Great tour and really fun day out, would highly recommend Wandering Owl
We had an absolutely amazing time on our snow shoe hike with Nicolas and Jens. We got amazingly lucky with the weather with fresh snow and clear blue skies which gave us such amazing views and landscapes. It was around a 5km hike which was the perfect length, with a stop for lunch and plenty of short breaks to learn more about the surroundings and to take photos. Ending the experience sliding down some of the hills we'd hiked up was just fantastic and gave us all a good laugh. Thanks for a great experience and an absolutely amazing day out.
We had a wonderful time on a snowshoe hike in the most beautiful scenery on a lovely sunny day. There had been a good snowfall overnight so the conditions were absolutely perfect, and our guide Aneta made sure we had a great time and plenty of fun! 100% recommended!
Elly our guide was great, very knowledgeable and engaging, and adjust the hike as we have a few older folks in the group. We had a wonderful time! Highly recommended!
This tour was cancelled due to unsafe weather conditions. However, we were offered to join a Winter Fjords Road Tour, and I’m glad we went on with the change of plans. Anna and Chris, despite rainy weather, made the trip fun and informative. We went north on Kvaløyva traveling along the coastline towards Tromvik and made few stopovers, one at Grotfjorden. At each stopover there was enough time to saturate an eye with the views (which were spectacular by the way) and take pictures. Anna also offered to take pictures. If your snowshoe trip gets cancelled and you’re offered the fjords road trip, don’t hesitate to take it. The route is not the same trip as the Kvaloya and Sommaroy trip.
Amazing experience with Ellie. She was fun, knowledgeable, guided us at a good pace, the views were incredible and the group was a good size so it's good we were split from a big group into 2 small ones. Recommend doing this.
There was a brief delay due to weather concerns but the guides kept us updated the whole time. The hike itself was beautiful and so much fun! All the equipment was provided and the lunch and snacks at the top were delicious
Max was a fantastic guide! Friendly, thoughtful and a good sense of humor. He took us through a beautiful landscape with stunning views of Tromsø, making sure everyone is safe and attended to. We really appreciated the provider's sense of sustainability as well. Highly recommended!
Went on the tour with Nicolas as our guide and had an amazing experience. The guide was very informative, friendly, and helpful! We had so much fun snowshoeing and sledding on the mountain! Also breathtaking views! 1000% worth it!
One of the best experiences I’ve had with snowshoeing through the mountains. From beginning to end, this tour was a lot of fun! Our guides Ellie and Anna are extremely good at what they do and they made it easy for us to feel comfortable and settled both on the bus and on the hike. We had a good laugh and I met some lovely guests in this experience too! The food was delicious and the views were exactly what I’d expect from the Arctic!! Definitely bring warm, wind proof clothing, because the weather can be a bit harsh!
Evgeni was our guide and he did a wonderful job making sure all were comfortable with planned route. He took us to whale island and up the mountain we went to stunning views. Overall, Evgeni was engaging, knowledgeable, and I wouldn't hesitate to book with him again. Also, Wondering Owl was very communicative on pickup and confirmation issues.
It was a really nice little hike in beautiful nature. We even spotted two reindeer. It was fun trudging through the snow and sledding down small slopes. Because of a gluten intolerance (which we had indicated), our daughter was even provided with a gluten-free sandwich and cookies. ❄️🦌
Excellent experience, knowledgeable guides, beautiful way to explore Norway
Nicholas & Gerard were amazing!! This was an EPIC experience. Beautiful scenery. Interesting info on Sami people and reindeer farming. Saw a sun halo. Did some sledding. I haven’t laughed that hard in years. Highly recommend.
I really enjoyed. Best experience
Our snowshoe hike with Anna and Gérard was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The tour was very well planned and offered a perfect mix of challenge and enjoyment. Although the hike was quite strenuous at times, the beautiful winter landscape made every bit of effort worthwhile. What we especially appreciated was that Anna and Gérard always paid attention to the different paces within the group. Nobody was left behind, and everyone could enjoy the hike at their own rhythm. We felt safe and well taken care of throughout the entire tour. The delicious food along the way was also a real highlight and gave us the energy we needed for the rest of the hike. We also loved that photos were taken and that the guides adapted the tour flexibly to the weather conditions, which made the whole experience feel very personal. During the hike, Anna and Gérard also shared a lot of interesting information about the local flora and fauna, which made the tour even more engaging. A particularly fun moment was the short ride back down on small plastic sleds at the end of the tour – an unexpected highlight that brought lots of laughter. Many thanks to Anna and Gérard for this wonderful experience – highly recommended!
We had a wonderful snow shoe hike with Ellie. Not only were we able to enjoy the landscape but she was able to tell us about the environment and the formation of the fjords. We found the pace was fine but she said from the outset that the aim of the walk was to enjoy the scenery not find yourself collapsing with exhaustion. So don't worry if you don't think you'll be fit enough - the walk will be tailored to your needs. She even taught us a little Norwegian! A really wonderful way to spend the day.
Great communication prior to seamless pickup at hotel Hike was challenging at times but exhilarating Nicholas was a great guide!
Great snowshoehike with Nicholas!
Had to take off a star because I emailed beforehand to ask if I should wear snow pants. They said they don't recommend it because it is too restrictive for the hike. We arrive at the pick up point and all 4 guides have snow pants on...and we proceed to sit in the snow to eat and sled (so fun!) so not sure why they didn't just say yes when I asked. Moral of the story: wear light snow pants. Other than that we had a great time. Nicholas was a great guide. He gave us all space to go at our own pace without letting anyone fall behind or get bored from going too slow. He knew his way around the mountain like the pro he is. It was super windy and cold so I wouldn't have wanted to be out there with anyone less knowledgeable. Definitely an artic hike! A quick back and forth car ride from Tromso. Request winter boots ahead of time if you need them as they assume you are bringing proper shoes/boots for the snowshoes they are attaching.
It was my first snowshoeing experience and it could not have been better! Gerard was a great driver and Nicolas was a fantastic guide who shared information about the wildlife and although we didn't get to see the reindeers, we saw traces of them including their poop 🤣 Nicolas was also accomodating to everyone's pace and helped to adjust our snowshoes when they came off halfway through the hike. Views during the hike were great, and I'd definitely recommend this activity to anyone who enjoys hiking :) Oh and sledding down the slopes on the way down was scary, but also exhilaratingly fun!!
We had an incredible time snowshoeing with Max! He was very knowledgeable and taught us a lot about the area. The snowshoeing outing itself was stunning. It was such a unique experience with a small group, and it was definitely a highlight of our trip to Tromsø.
Max and Ellie, our guides, were wonderfully attentive. My friend and I were older by far than any of the other participants in our group. We were slower, but made it! Max and Ellie supported us and never made us feel like we were a burden. The view and quiet, stunning environment is worth the effort. Thank you, Max and Ellie!
Very well planned trip with guides who really want to give you the best experience they can. Ana and Chris were really friendly, extremely knowledgeable and great to be around. Highly Recommended if you have time and want to try something different
It was a very nice experience, and the guides share intresting facts about Tromso, and Norway.
Excellent experience and a fantastic day out in the snow! Recommended!
Great experience. The guide was nice and helpful, and led us on a lovely route with great views and plenty of untouched snow. We also spot a pair of reindeers during the trip!
We had an amazing experience with Nicolas. Despite the weather changes he made sure everything was nice. Learned more about sami culture as well. Beautiful and fun in tour. The drive was good with lliyan
We loved our snowshoe walk guided by Nicolas & driven by Gerard. A beautiful walk with stunning scenery. A walk I will remember for life! We slid down two hills on little sledge/trays which was exhilarating! We saw reindeer in the distance and found their tracks. We had a hot drink & delicious sandwich & biscuits half way. It was well organised, and an ideal pace, I liked that we were a small group, we were given good advice and all questions were answered. Nicolas took great care to take good photos of us too which were sent to us for free. We were provided with the correct equipment and felt safe and happy the whole time. Nicolas did a fantastic job looking after us & really made it a memorable experience!
We went on a snowshoeing trip with Gerard as our guide, who was excellent. Communication before the trip was very good and friendly. Our transport arrived promptly and off we went with a small group to trek in the nearby mountains. It's a fun trip, with beautiful scenery and a good workout too Highly recommend
Very enjoyable guided snowshoe trek. Communication before was excellent. It was a small group tour of 8. Our guide Gerard was excellent. He was friendly and informative. Highly recommend
Perfect activity, small group to enjoy the wildlife
It was a great experience. The weather was perfect and the landscapes were insane. Also, Nicolas took good photos for us. Especially, we really enjoyed snow sledging on the way back. We felt like it was a small unexpected gift because we didn't know that. Thank you for making us good memories :)
Brilliant trip! We had a lovely snowshoe hike, a nice sandwich and hot drink break and even saw some Reindeer. Our driver Iligan drove us there carefully, I often suffer from car sickness but his driving was very smooth. Our lovely guide Nicholas shared great knowledge on the reindeer, Sami people and more. They made it very fun and we had a great time. The only challenges we faced were no toilet breaks for the duration and we had expected thermal suits but there weren't any. As a result we were a little underdressed but we had enough warm clothing to still enjoy our adventure!
One of the favourite things I did while in Tromso. The car ride out to the start of the hike was a short 30 minutes and straight from the carpark it was amazing. Being out in the open space away from the city was stunning - On our hike we hiked into a valley and onto a frozen lake, and had the joys of running through knee deep fresh powder. Our guide, Max was excellent - He was knowledgeable, funny and very accommodating from start to finish. Would highly recommend snowshoeing while in Tromso!
I truly recommend this experience. I visited Norway believing that the northern lights would have been the most amazing experience. Despite I saw them and they are great, I have to say that this hiking experience was the cherry on the top of my trip. Anna and Ilyan were such a good guides and they were so nice, kind, and paid attention to our safety and needs. the walk was a continuous wow effect and the picnic was super nice. I am pretty sure I will keep this experience forever in my heart and mind!
Nico was a great guide, very friendly. Sharing his knowledge about the Sami people and the fauna. We had so much fun sledging too. I highly recommend this hike.
An amazing experience with a super lovely guide Gerard. Stunning scenery to photograph. It was challenging in parts and fun too! Tasty lunch as well. We thought Gerard was very knowledgeable about the landscape, the wildlife and Tromsø. Thank you.
Fantastic experience, not too hard, not too short. Absolutely recommend. The landscape is fantastic and the guides are very passionate.
