Such a fantastic experience! The Beer Safari in Tromsø was the perfect mix of fun, flavour, and fascinating history. Our guide, Bernhard, was incredibly knowledgeable and brought the story of Tromsø’s microbrewery scene to life in such an engaging way. We loved learning about how brewing evolved in this Arctic city while sipping our way through a great variety of beers, each with its own character. The atmosphere was relaxed, friendly, and full of laughs—by the end, it felt like hanging out with friends rather than being on a tour. Highly recommend this to anyone visiting Tromsø, whether you’re a beer lover or just curious!

Bernard was a very knowledgeable guide. There's nothing he doesn't know about beer and had a good sense of humour. He was very inclusive of the people on the tour who didn't like beer, making sure that everyone had a proper experience, plus some interesting facts about Tromso along the way. A lovely little tour and a great way to meet people at a very decent price. Highly recommended.
An amazing experience for our family. We walked along the Main Street of Tromso and stop-by a few bars to enjoy different kinds of beer and arctic snacks. The guide told us many interesting stories about wine/beer brewery in Tromso. We did enjoy the trip very much.
Loved it. Well worth it. You get to experience excellent draft beers from Norway. Our guide shared the history. We did 3 mini flights. Highly recommend.
The beer safari was interesting and included a number of different beers- really enjoyed it, the small tasting plate of food was also great
We had a blast! Definitely good value for your money, interesting facts and a lot of good beer and nice locations. Very competent and nice guide. We were 6 friends and everyone enjoyed it.
A really interesting tour with a short walk through Tromsø looking at some historical beer related spots. Our guide was super knowledgeable and very friendly
An interesting afternoon walking around Tromso and tasting various beers. Bernard, the tour guide told us about the history of brewing in Tromso. Ten different beers were tasted, and a little bit of tapas in the last bar.
Bernard was are tour guide , and he was very knowledgeable about tromso and the different beers we tasted We went to 3 different bars ( a little bit or walking involved) All the beers we had were very nice , and Bernard told us all about the different breweries that make the beers Wasn’t to keen on the tapas Met some great people on this tour , if you like beer tasting you will enjoy this tour
Informative guide equipped with both interesting facts and history about the city as well as its beer industry. Background of the guide (who is a German) also added flares on the difference between German and Norwegian beers
Great tour guide who really added her own special knowledge of the city to the tour! We couldn't figure out the meeting place, but she called us and came to find us! She took us to some great pubs, places we may not have discovered on our own. Highly recommend!
Norway is all about nature, fjords, northern lights or maybe not! The Tromso Beer Safari is most probably one of the best experiences I had through Tripadvisor and it's certainly something to take with me home as one of the best moments of my Trip to Tromso. Albina was a great hostess, very positive, friendly, with a smile on her face and knowledgeable too while she went the extra mile in order to make the group feel comfortable through the Safari. I can surely say that she added extra value to this experience which I'll definitely recommend to anyone visiting Tromso for a few days and if you're lucky as I was you're gonna have Albina as your guide.
Great information shared by the guide Astrid. Tour includes a lot of various beer brews. Not enough food/nibbles provided for the quantity of beer. The Arctic tapas of reindeer, seal, whale and salmon were good.
We had a lovely day out with Benedict! He was very knowledgeable and insightful not only about beers but local knowledge, history and politics! We had such a nice time, had plenty of drinks to try and the tapas was nice too! Thank you again! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lovely experience with many tasting of local beers and unique tapas. Enjoyed very much. Some walking required but not far. Some local history offered during walks.
A great way to get to know Tromsø. Our very knowledgeable guide as excellent….and the beers were also pretty good.
This tour was absolutely fantastic! The knowledge and history on Tromsø from our guide was everything we were after, without him even knowing he had answered all the little things we had been curious about from our own walk around the town the day before. The beer of course was delicious and the bars were absolutely beautiful! Such a great tour to go on if you want to meet new people, have great chats, fantastic beer and to learn more about Tromsø!! Thanks so much for a fab time
Absolutely recommend this experience, for beer lovers and not only. Very interesting and fun way to discover Tromso city center and learn about its history. The guide had a lot of knowledge and shared a lot of interesting things. Thank you Bernhardt!
This small beer tour was a great activity while in town! You get to learn a lot about the history of Tromsø and its buildings and beer. Wonderful tastings with a knowledgeable guide. Very relaxed and easy going thing to do! Highly recommend if you have the time!
We had a great first day in Tromso with Bernherd. He was very knowledgeable about beer and answered all our questions about the city. We went to 3 beer venues; however, he did point out others he would recommend and a few rooftop bars. It was a great day and a great way to start seeing the city.
we absolutly loved the tour. The Bars are very unique with some great history and (of course) very good beer! You definetly need to bring a scarf from your favourite football club for the Railstation Bar. 5 out if 5 for this amazing tour!
The guide was very knowledgeable about beer in general, the beer we were drinking, and the sights of Tromso as we walked around. He answered all of our questions and was very friendly. I highly recommend this tour as a way to get some delicious beer, a quick walk around town, and meet like-minded travelers.
Berhardt(sp?) was an excellent guide. Funny with tons of knowledge. Had a wonderful time. Totally recommend!
It was a great. A little mix of history and wonderful background on the beer and bar scene in Tromso. Great kick off to our trip too. Helps you narrow down what local beers you like. One tip, the food sampling is small but let’s you try some local meats. Again helping you narrow down what you might order later, so my tip is to eat a bit of something beforehand :)
I had an amazing time with our guide Håvar, all 10 of us in this safari with him all have to agree, Håvar is an 5 stars safari leader in Thomso! He guides us through the city, three different bars, 10 different beers and shared his knowledge, experience and the history of Scandinavian beer! If you have one afternoon in Thomso, you got to book this Beer safari! Worth of every penny and the time spent!
Our guide was very knowledgeable about both the beers and the town. He pointed out the worlds smallest bar and explained the history behind the Station pub - highly enjoyable. Enjoyed all the different beers and the detail as to how they were made.
This was one of the best trips we did whilst in Tromso. Our guide, Bernard, took us on a walking tour of the city but we stopped in different venues along the way to sample different beers. Bernard is an excellent guide and no question we asked him went unanswered. He was very knowledgeable about the city and was truly passionate about beers. We had such a great day and we wish Bernard all the best with his future endeavours.
Amazing experience! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and personable, it was a great way to get a tour of the town of tromso and learn about its history whilst also trying local beers.
This was a walking tour to 3 different pubs, with so much great information and history about Tromso! We sampled 10 different beers, and ended with a sampler of 4 different Norwegian dishes. Delicious food and beer! Bernhart was our guide, and very knowledgeable
A great way to get an introduction to the city of Tromso and sample some lovely beer at the same time! The guide Bernhard was brilliant!
Booked through Viator and received confirmations with 2.45pm meet up details for next day. Excited and planned day around this pre paid activity. NO ONE SHOWED UP TO START THE TOUR. No one called. Called the beer safari contact number to be told tour had been cancelled, as there were too few people. However I see reviews which state only 2 guests on the Beer Safari (we were 3). Local guide tried to claim it is Viator that should have contacted us re: cancellation. Viator said that it is the local tour company that cancels if there are not enough guests on a tour, they are simply 3rd party agent and refunded the payment. The worst of this experience was the dismissive call, saying you’ll get a refund - that’s not the point when at the meeting point to start a 3 hour tour! and the condescending text from a Bernhard when complaining about this terrible customer service and that a complaint was logged with Viator. Bernhard was on another tour, so double booked. It is unacceptable for customers to turn up for a tour to be told it is cancelled.
We would highly recommend the Beer Safari. Great fun and fantastic time. Our guide was very knowledgeable and experienced. All the Beers to tried were interesting and tasty.
An absolutely fantastic way to experience the beer culture and history in Tromso and beyond. Bernard is one of the most enthusiastic and authentic tour guides I have ever met. His ability to connect things from around the world in reference to beer made this tour even more amazing. We started at the tourist Center and first walked around the city Center a bit as Bernard pointed out some interesting buildings and shared a bit about the history of the city. He has a great sense of humour that made the explanations super interesting. He made sure we were laughing and learning all at once. We visited 3 different locations to try the beers. In total we tried 10 different beers in the night and also god some food in our final location. This is a must do tour for anyone visiting Tromso. It’s informative and fun all at once. Loved it! And highly recommended.
Good selection of beers and Ben (sorry don't know how to spell your full name) our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Tour lasted longer and we all went for a drink at the end!
We had a great time with all the stories, facts and funfacts about both beer and Tromsø! The guide even made a gluten free alternative for me, who's colica, so that I could join my better half on the trip. Thank you Tromsø Budget Tours, we had a wonderful time!
Perfect afternoon with a lot of good beers including a guide with detailed knowledge of beers, brewing and history of Tromsø 😊
Very great tour. The beer was delicious... and the sample size was pretty decent ;-) Lot's of funny and interesting stories about Tromsø and beer.
Great experience with Bernard, very passionate and knowledgeable. This was a present for my husband and turned out to be a great gift!
This was our second time on this tour. Our guest was 2 years ago and we brought friends the second time. Bernard even remembered us. This tour is a perfect combination of tromso history, beer knowledge and of course beer! Such an amazing group and tour for beer lovers! 5 stars! Would definitely do again!
Bernhard met us on time, taking us to a pleasant walk around Tromso downtown and stopping at the pubs and relevant sites. He was very friendly and knew a lot about the subject. Beers were great and he got apple juice and bread for the kids - even though they even tried some typical foods with us (whale, seal, cod tongue...!). Great opportunity to know more about the city, the breweries and to try those special dishes!
Had a awesome time on the beer tour in Tromso. Our tour guide Kira was the best. She gave us a great tour around town and taught us alot about beer and Tromsos history. Would definitely recommend. Especially if you like a good beer.
We really enjoyed this tour, on this occasion there were only the two of us and our guide. She was on time, very friendly and a great guide showing and telling us the history and places of Tromso. We visited three pubs, all with a good atmosphere, unfortunately the brewery was in the middle of transferring premises. We tasted 10 different beers, and tried some local food. We would recommend this.
Highly recommend this tour for those looking to get an overview of Tromso with some delicious brews and info on the brewery scene along the way. Despite a very foggy day, our group learned a lot from Bendik and saw a lot. We came across the Beer Safari on a blog and while it seemed to be unavailable, they added a tour for our group of four. We're very glad. It was a fun way to learn about Tromso, and each of us found it meaningful from the history, Norway culture and city happenings, as well as beer and brewery highlights. Great amount of beer (maybe needed some water, too) and the tapas were delicious.
Had a wonderful tour with a great tour guide Bendik, who was a wealth of knowledge on so many topics, not just beer - a real history buff! A very relaxing way to spend an afternoon in Tromso and also learn so much local history and beer info. Maggie & Bill Ball, Piscataway, NJ, USA
An opportunity to discover how local brewing blends with the Tromso and greater Norwegian culture. A nice stroll around town, discovering interesting city highlights, sprinkled with samples of some wonderful local beers. Both an excellent city guide and a knowledgable brewer, Bernhard delivered a perfect beer safari. Fully recommended activity for an afternoon around Tromso.
Bernhard took a small group of us to several microbreweries and a craft beer bar. He was interesting and engaging and certainly knew a lot about local history, and about beer (he is a brewer). He and I may have to differ on strongly-hopped IPAs though! Seriously, this is a great tour if you want a quiet walk around Tromsø with an experienced and knowledgable guide, and sample the odd beer on the way.

Went on safari on February 20th and I was the only one to turn up so I had the brilliant guide, Ben, to myself. He is a charming guide and really knows his stuff about brewing but we chatted about lots of other things to do with Norway which was great. The tour visited 3 venues starting with a really small micro brewery where four very different beers were sampled. Next came a visit to Olhallen, the pub with 67 beers on tap! I only tried one here though and then we went to Kjeller 5 which has an amazing range of beers as well as an extensive range of beer making ingredients and equipment. On to the last stop for a sample of five contrasting beers and very interesting tapas. I really enjoyed the experience of the beers, tapas and most of all the company of Ben who was so interesting - thanks Ben.

Fun way to explore Tromso and meet fun people for an afternoon!

The tour was fun and informative but the description made it sound as though we'd be receiving our own plate of tapas. Instead, we had to share with another tour guest. First world problems, I know, but it was very misleading.

If you like beer, food and a bit of history then this is the tour for you. Our guide Bernard was very knowledgeable about both the local history of Tromso and the beers as well. We sampled many beers from the local region. A highlight was the Mack Brewery bar with 67 beers on tap unfortunately not enough time to sample them all. The food provided was also excellent. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to do something a bit different in Tromso. It was fairly good value for money in Norway where everything is very pricey.
