A very knowledgeable guide who can hold great conversations in both English and Spanish. There were 8 in our group and our guide used a van.
It was an excellent experience, we were just 3 partecipants, the guide was more than perfect. Everything was very nice and all the places that we saw were beautiful.
Pedro was a fantastic host who explained many facts and curiosities about the Norwegian history and its people. It was a fantastic experience and views were breathtaking! The tour was well planned and avoided the rest of the tours.
Samuel was absolutely fantastic - knowledgeable, friendly and genuinely dedicated to giving us the best experience. He even came back and gave us an extra 30 minutes to see the reindeer again. I’ve travelled the world and never had a guide go that extra mile! This was the highlight of my trip to Tromsø. £118 isn’t cheap, but with Samuel as your guide, it’s worth every penny. Highly recommended - you won’t be disappointed! Thank you for everything Samuel. You are a star!
Beautiful places and excellent guide, Samuel has really made the difference
Fantastic scenery and a great few hours out. If you are looking to learn about the area, it’s history and culture, then this trip is not for you. It was more of a photo op trip. This was a bit disappointing. On the drive back we didn’t even stop once even though we passed some really good spots for photos - we asked to stop as we saw reindeers passing by but that didn’t even warrant a slow down by our guide. As said, a nice few hours out but don’t expect to learn anything about the area.
The car was a disaster - it is a miracle it lasted til trip. The guide was friendly and provided relevant info along the route.
The scenery was very nice, but it is a van tour not a bus, which is good. But it is not for photographers
So disappointed. Changed date with Viator- which they confirmed and issued new voucher for - only to find it hadn’t synced to pick up location so couldn’t join the tour. Then got contacted to ask whether I was coming for the original date that I had changed. So we missed a much anticipated trip altogether.
Antonio was a very friendly, knowledgeable guide He took us to some great places and the scenery was amazing His detail about the places we visited was excellent, very informative! If there's one complaint, if you're sat at the back of the minibus you can't hear what he's saying when driving between destinations, he did try to repeat it at the next stop but still
This tour was just okay over all. Very pretty sights and comfy transportation. However, I do feel a bit ripped off. The description mentions twice “ Plus, stay warm with a hot drink and meal.” it doesn’t say that the meal is an additional cost. It’s 25usd for a pretty small bowl of soup. I think it’s fair to assume that everything in the description is included. It also claims there is a professional photographer. I can’t quite agree with that discription. There’s someone with a nice camera you pay to take photos, but the quality wasn’t any higher than on a phone.
Unfortunately the weather wasn't on our side today, but the heavily falling snow just added a different angle to a great trip. You could just imagine the stunning scenery on a clear day of the fjords on the drive to Sommaroy. Kent was an excellent driver in the scary conditions and very informative.
Our tour guide Pedro was very informative & engaging! We would highly recommend the Fjords tour. While there is a bit of driving involved the stunning scenery & ample pit stops along the way to admire the scenery worked really well.
With only a small group (maximum of 8) we had the opportunity to stop at a number of fjords and scenic places between Tromsø and Sommarøy. Mickal (not sure of the spelling) was a fantastic guide and safe driver on the icy roads; additionally he was very knowledgeable of the areas and accommodating to everyone’s needs. Lunch of traditional fish soup is provided in Sommarøy; however NorthernShots will arrange for dietary needs (such as vegetarian and gluten free bread) when booking the tour. We actually booked our tickets through the Information Centre in the city centre. Use the bathroom/toilet before departure, as the next toilet facility is at Sommarøy where you have lunch. You may also wish to take a bottled drink for the journey. This road trip is definitely highly recommended, and we would do it when we visit Tromsø again.
Norway has got many beautiful “faces”,our idea about the country and fiords has totally changed after this tour. There are beaches all over the coast from Tromso, and all these islands look like post cards,no filters or photoshop is needed. Our guide was very reliable and helpful,he was a super safe driver ( and it’s very important :),he knew all the best spots for the stops and pictures. And yes,the fish soup with cod was delicious!
We visited Sommaroy Island Norway Where time Stands Still without Clocks. Sommaroy Island is approximately 1 hour drive away from Tromso Norway. On our way we stop by so many picturesque viewpoints in Kvaloya. Sommaroy is a unique place where you can see midnight Sun in Summers & Northern Lights in winters. Sommaroy has small population with 350 people declared time free Zone in 2019 which means they removed clocks from all public places. Sommaroy is definitely worth visiting If you are in Norway
Good tour and guide was good Trip was good food was good and we had a great time. Driver cum guide was quite friendly and explained I. Detailed
The tour was fantastic, the views were amazing and our guide was really kind and explaining all details about the fjords.
We had a Thomas a Fantastic guide. Had a very good time. Took wonderful pictures and was given a thorough knowledge of the area and culture.
Great tour. Our guide was Pedro, he was very kind, funny, and gave us a lot of information about all the places that we were visiting. He took his time with the pictures of each o us and found the best spots!!
Pedro, our guide of the day, was very knowledgeable about local history, culture and way of life. Our experience with Northern Shots is highly memorable.
Bus tour around islands nr Tromsø Wonderful, friendly, informative guide, really took the time to show us some beautiful places Did this with passion for his job Name was Peter He made the experience worthwhile Thank you Would recommend
I love that NorthernShots have a big office where I can use the WiFi for free and have a cozy enviroment to relax waiting for the tour. Its very nice sit down besides the big windows because they have a high tables so I was able to watch the local peopple outside and the calm life in Tromso. The girls at the counter are very polite and patience.
Our tour guide did a great job. Very friendly. You can tell he really loves his job. Great scenery! It was a great way to see the beauty of the Tromso area.
The guide is very inforative and always lend a helping, in term of photos taking and assist my friend who has walking issue.
We had such a great time with our exceptional guide, Pietro (not sure if I've spelt his name right). He was great fun, very informed and friendly, really involved everyone so the group got on well and enjoyed the experience. The weather was against us and there was just such a lot of snow! We couldn't really see the fantastic views he was hoping for but he made the whole tour so interesting in spite of it. We saw reindeer in the wild, eagles, lots of seabirds, cave carvings, a historic fishing village, then on to Sommoroy. Lunch was tasty soup and bread, yes light but as advertised and enough to warm us up. Excellent value for money and if the weather had not been quite so poor, we would have had some lovely views. As it was, the views were grey and silver and I think rather lovely in their own right.
It was a great trip with Michaelo, big thanks! I will doit again. The soup was delicious! Visitamos desde Costa Rica, pura vida!
Thomas was a perfect guide, he shared with us a lot of information and details about the Fjords we visited... the trip was perfectly executed and the overall facilities were good including the minivan we were travelling in... My 8 year old son Adu and us carry with us fond memories back home. Look forward to doing this in the near future again. Special thanks to Thomas for making the trip even more exciting. Warm Regards, Adu, Aarthi & Prad
The views were amazing, loved Sommarøy and driving along the coastline. The guide Matthieu from Portugal was knowledgeable and took amazing photos too although you have to pay to get the high quality photos. However sadly it started snowing after lunch so we couldn’t really see the fjords but the morning was definitely a highlight!
We die a fantastic tour with Thomas from Portugal. His english was perfect and hé could tell us a lot about the fjord and the surrounding. We stopped at nice spots and he took all the time. Thanks for this amazing trip!
We attended this tour as a last minute recommendation and it didn't disappoint. It was fabulous! Our guide Thomas was superb and extremely knowledgeable. He took us to some stunning places you would see doing it yourself. We 100% recommend this tour, it was the favourite of our trip.
Had a fantastic time on the Fjord Photo Tour. Lots of stops and opportunities to take in the fantastic scenery and take some photos. Tomas [from Portugal] was our guide and was very knowledgeable and talked about the landscapes, the Sami, the glaciers, the northern lights amongst many other things. A trip we will never forget. Would definitely recommend!
The Guide who was Portuguese had excellent knowledge of the complete trip he was also very helpful, next time in Tromso we would definitely book with you again
Despite the torrential rain we had a wonderful time. Our guide was super knowledgable and kept us all entertained, informed and on track to see the sights. Sadly the cloud was low and the rain very heavy, but we still had a great time.
Guide was very knowledgable, took us to memorable spots and a very fullfilling meal at the arctic restaurant.. bowl of warm and creamy fish soup with excellent bread, (there were other options if necessary). We've been on other trips since which were also very memorable... mind is buzzing ... not had time to upload photo's as yet.
We did 3 tours with Northern Shots: northern light, fjords and silent whale watching. All of them were great! The tour guides (Mirco, Marek and Fred) knew a lot of fun facts and kept the tours light and fun. Especially Marek who took a lot of photos of us for personal use during the fjord tour. Definitely recommend going with Northern Shots!
We went on both the Northern Lights Chase and the Fjord Photo Tour with the same photographer guide. We had booked the Photo Tour just so we could go to beautiful spots to take pictures. The bonus in this tour is all the beautiful pictures the guide can take of you in these stunning surroundings and it's all included in the package. This was the last day of our two month trip to Europe, which made it extra special. We also had delicious fish soup at one of the restaurants on Samoroy, also located in a beautiful spot.
We hopped on the minivan. It was small group of 7. We had several stops at some photograph worthy spots and we were able to see amazing landscapes, learned many things about living in Tromsø (thanks Luis for sharing your knowledge and experience), did a small hike to see beautiful scenery in Sommarøy Island, had the chance to experience the yummy fiskesuppe during lunch and to cap it all, we were greeted by a group of reindeers. Grateful for this experience and meeting beautiful people on this trip. I highly recommend it.
We had an amazing tour, the weather was lovely, we got some nice photos of the mountains, fjords, beaches and even reindeer that we met along the road. The local fish soup was really amazing and seeing the landscape and surroundings like this was worth the money. Highly recommended :)
I went to the Fjord Photo Tour with Northern Shots Tours and we went to Sommaroy where we can admire the best spots for the photography. It was a minivan trip with a professional photograph guide who gives some information about the Fjord and the landscapes. The meal was include on the price, we eat a traditional fish soup and it was really good. I think this is a must-do with Northern Shots because the guide is really nice and he give a lot of information and also because of the wonderful landscapes.
It was supposed to be the whole family, but it turned out to be just me. And I'm so pleased to have gone! There were three of us, and while it was quite cold (-6C to -8C with windchill), we enjoyed some gorgeous scenery, stopping in a number of places off the beaten path. We stopped multiple places where the only footprints belonged to us - which as you might imagine made for some gorgeous photos. While I had intended to take the whole family, I suspect that the kids would have spent most of the time in the van, since they're not photographers. If your kids are, they might be more interested, but it's a couple of hours of driving and stopping otherwise.
It was really a very nice trip with a lovely guide. This experience with the nice, trustable and cute guide was really amazing! The lunch was fantastic! Unforgettable memories! Thank you!
We had a day spare on our Honeymoon and booked this tour in hope of seeing the sites and maybe some wildlife. We were greeted by our guide Rohit who was very friendly and cared a lot about us using the most of the daylight to see the views. He drove us around the most beautiful sceneries and had so much information to tell us about the area. We visited the open air museum, frozen lake and many fantastic fjords. Rohit helped with my camera settings and took photos of myself and my husband as well. We even managed to get up close to a herd of reindeer which was our perfect end to our trip. Thank you Sam & Gareth
The tour was totally worth it! Would definitely recommend this if you are in Tromso. We spotted moose, reindeers and spent time on frozen lakes. Our guide, Rohit ensured we were comfortable and was well versed with the region. It was a memorable experince.
Very disappointed to be honest. The professional photographer / guide was from Columbia and hardly knew much about Norway. We aren't visiting norway to do chit chats with ppl.He should have researched a bit of the culture. We were taken to places which I didn't feel was the best.saw fellow travellers pics from other tours and they were way better than hours.we couldn't even see a reindeer and the guide kept promising he'll show it. We wasted the whole day in the car and ended up feeling sleepy and tired. The professional photographer taught me nothing.i was interested to learn and he didn't even answer my questions with any info. Frankly so disappointed as we know Fjord is stunning. We booked this even if there were no reviews. I think it as a mistake. Never book without a good and genuine review. Utter wastage of time effort and our precious holiday time
Outstanding tour guide who told us a lot about the landscape and showed us the best spots.
I wanted a tour with few people, I didn't want to enjoy the fjords with the crowds, and they found me the perfect tour for 4 from Tromsø to Sommarøy from morning to afternoon with lunch included, and if we saw a beautiful landscape beyond what was planned in the stops, our guide, who also acted as the driver, would stop to allow us to photograph the spectacle we were seeing, thank you really
Not worth the money. Just a small bowl of soup for lunch. The guide didn't explain much during the trip. He mostly told about his life in Spanish to the tourists sitting next to him.
A beautiful country with lots of sights. Unfortunately, hosts with apartments are very anonymous and have no personal contact with the guest but only via mobile phone
