Tromsø: Northern Lights By Minibus - Warm Dinner And Free Photos!

Incredible team! The experience was incredible. The knowledge from Jefta & Lukasz helped us a lot to enjoy the best moments of the Northern Lights! They were incredible kind with our family, specially my daughter.

A fantastic evening and despite a disappointing forecast we were taken to a fjord around 1.5 hours from Tromso and the aurora danced across the sky. Luxurious minibus and picked up directly from outside our rental property. Staff very kind and knowledgeable. Top quality photos provided and tasty soup by the campfire.

I joined one of Blue Puffin's northern lights chasing tours as a last minute attempt to see the northern lights after no luck over three weeks of travelling, and I'm so glad I did! Not only was the tour very well run with a fantastic guide Linda and driver Maciej, we had incredible success with seeing the lights! Linda and Maciej managed to find a perfect spot by a frozen lake at the exact right moment for the clouds to part and for us to see an incredible aurora, complete with pinks, blues and purples. They worked so hard to find the right spot, and to ensure everyone got photos, kept warm and had food. I would (and have) recommended this tour to everyone coming to the Tromso area!

Guides were wonderful, the northern lights were amazing, it was a great trip and we were here on a Viking cruise. Only complaint was there needs to be more toilets, but very happy!

The tour was very well organized, and we were lucky enough to experience a clear night with active northern lights. We especially appreciated that the tour was bilingual. Our guide was very knowledgeable and could answer all kinds of questions about the northern lights. The campfire created a cozy atmosphere, and the soup was delicious. The thermal suits that were provided also worked very well. Toward the end, though, our feet got quite cold despite wearing boots. Therefore, I would recommend bringing extra-thick socks and warm shoes.

The northern lights chase was skilfully managed and executed. The team was responsive and went to some effort to even accommodate food preference. The swanky and comfortable Mercedes minibus was the envy of many also waiting for their tour at the same meeting point and hoping the Merc was their ride, when our minibus appeared and our names were called to board. Our group was small and our guide had an infectious enthusiasm, worked hard throughout the night and provided a well-balanced commentary and information, whilst managing expectations with care. She was also fiercely protective of our little campfire and promptly dispatched the invader group who started using it while we were mere steps away. We eventually settled at a different, quieter spot that we reached with the minibus, surrounded by knee-deep snow, silent snowfields, a bright moon and no other groups, where we spent a few hours over a second campfire with hot drinks and cookies, taking photos of the aurora. The experience is great value for money, especially with the photos included.

The experience was perfect. Johan was great and was very good about explaining things and letting us know what to expect. The soup and hot juice was also delicious. This small group tour feels more personal. I would definitely recommend a small group tour especially for the northern lights tour. The minibus can get places that a big tour bus will not be able to go. The lights were so perfect! And so bright! We only had to drive 1 hour and we were able to pull off and see them. I can't say enough about this tour. This has been a great experience!

Excellent experience chasing the northern lights! Our guide was amazing and driver excellent in the snow. They made sure we saw the lights every chance we got and they were spectacular!

It was really cool! The tour guide, Linda, was so fun and made the experience so entertaining and exciting all the time. We got to see the most incredible auroras of our lives. We almost cried, so did Linda, who showed a lot of excitement all the time. We also ate soup, cookies and some juice. Lukasz, our driver was really nice, too.

Joan and Majiec did such an amazing job for us! We had an incredible experience, and they just kept finding more great places to view the aurora. Joan took photos any time we stopped, which was really nice. His photos are professional quality, and so much better than what you can get with just an iphone. He took photos of anyone who wanted them, but also photos of just the lights for us to download after we got home. Joan is very knowledgeable and friendly, and has a science background, and he kept us entertained. We also really enjoyed the small size of our group, which enabled everyone to get out quickly if we needed to, to see the ever changing display. The bus was very nice and comfortable. The vegetable soup and warm juice were tasty, and everyone enjoyed the cookies. Highly recommend this tour!

A long night but filled with such fun, positivity and enthusiasm. Great group. Lots of photos. Tasty home cooked food. Knowledgeable guide who gave us so much information - thank you Linda. Great confident driver who worked really well with Linda. And we saw the lights in about 4 or 5 different locations thanks to Linda’s persistence and excitement! We loved it!

Nature didn't help. We barely saw a glimpse of Northern light. The guide tried very hard to find a place for us to see it through his camera. We wished it was better but how can we win the nature.

Everything went super smoothly, we were a small group of 10-15 people. We left at 17:30 on time and we drove for about 45min. We had really clear skies and the guide told us the only thing we could is to wait. We waited for about 3 hours and we got a fire, a really good soup, and some hot beverages... and when we almost gave up, the aurora came! So, just trust the guide and be patient!! We totally recommend Blue Puffin :)

Had the most wonderful time with Linda (our guide) who is very fluent in German and English. There was a REALLY low chance of catching the lights but Linda was experienced and we were so blessed to be able to watch the lights dance in the sky. This tour comes with warm soup and blueberry tea - super yummy. 10/10 recommend!

Awesome evening particularly having small group. Driver and guide lovely and very experienced. Having suits was great. Would recommend sock/hand warmers. Feet with 2 socks were a bit cold but warmed up in the bus. So pleased we had a clear evening and so only needed to drive an hr out of Tromso. Driving time depends on finding cloud free area.

Long long away from city centre but it let us enjoying a fantastic screen of Aurora full in the sky. Warm to hot soup and sweet hot drink protected us from cold low temperature (it was much important for us living in a place without snow). With experience & friendly tourist guide, our first night in Tromso became wonderful & memorial.

Very nice, highly recommended experience. Linda, our guide, did a great job with incredible passion and relentless energy. She found perfect spots, was able to create a very warm, familiar atmosphere in the group and has proven herself to be an excellent photographer. To do this in a small group - how Blue Puffin does it - is clearly an advantage. Very comfortable bus with Adam as very prudent and cautious driver.

The tour was amazing! Our Guide Linda and the driver Adam did a fantastic job. Linda knew the best places and we saw amazing northern lights. She took amazing pictures as well! For the cold we were provided with special overalls, which helped a lot. The minibus was very good and comfortable. Tour could not have been better and we loved it!

We did the Northern Lights tour last night and I can truly say that it was a fantastic tour. Linda was truly awesome and her enthusiasm was contagious! The combination of Linda and Majeic (The driver) made for an amazing night. We did manage to see the Green Lady and ticked another item off the bucket list. Small tours are definitely the way to do this. It makes it a far more intimate affair than the big buses. We got to know rest of the people on the tour and Linda took time to gauge what the itinerary was based on who was there rather and having a set list of what we did and where we went. We had a great trip with a well experienced and enthusiastic guide who did not give up on chasing the lights on a cloudy night. We rode a long way and in the end found an opening in the sky with some activity and managed to see the amazing lights. Professional pictures were also taken and the soup was delicious!

An amazing tour guide who truly went above and beyond — checking more than 10 meteorological maps on a night with only a 0–12% chance of aurora sightings, just to give us an unforgettable two hours of dancing Northern Lights. The tour itself was fantastic, with comfortable bus transport and a knowledgeable guide who shared not only insights about the Northern Lights, but also fascinating information about the Nordic countries. He even helped us capture beautiful photos to commemorate this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Truly unforgettable.

Amazing experience! As many other tours have gone, we had to drive all the way to Finland, but the bus was super comfortable and our guide and driver were the best! I highly recommend Blue Puffin!

The guide for our trip, Diego was unprofessional. He started out by being 15 minutes late, making the group wait and being late out on a night that was very crowded with other tour groups getting to the good spots for Aurora watching first. on the way he didn’t seem to have any knowledge of the Aurora phenomenon, and could only provide a basic lecture on photography. When it came time to put on the thermal suits, we were left on our own with no assistance from him or the driver to get the suits on. This and other aspects of basic courtesy and hospitality were not met by our guide. We wound up seeing a faint Aurora, but most of the group were disappointed. Perhaps most annoying for me was this trip was advertised as a warm dinner provided. all we got to eat in Artic wearher conditions was a thin bowl of vegetable soup and a slice of stale bread. My family was hungry for the rest of the evening in the bitter cold. There are many other well qualified operators in the Tromsoe area. We had had a fantastic experience with a different company the night before. I recommend not choosing this group.

We did our tour on Wednesday, December 17th, 2025 with the amazing Joan, who did an excellent job finding the Northern Lights for us as well as being a fantastic, knowledgeable tour guide. We really appreciated all that he did and the countless photos he took of us as well. He also dropped us off at our hotel Skaret by Vander so that was greatly appreciated as well. Overall, a 5/5 experience. Will definitely come back to go again to Tromsø with this tour!

This was a amazing tour and there is a reason for all reviews being 5 star. The driver and guide were both amazing. Everything about the experience was great. New bus, small group, great guide who provided lot of information, great dinner and tea. Most importantly, we were taken to a great spot on a right time to view northern lights ! Not to forget, the value is also unbeatable compared to some larger operators. Thank you so much !

This was ok. Guides were knowledgable and did their best but I think the company should have cancelled given how cloudy it was. Overall, I would recommend checking the weather predictions yourself and waiting to book day of instead of booking weeks in advance

We had a great time. Our tour guide Linda was super friendly, knowledgeable, and did her best to find the northern lights for us. It was a cloudy night so unfortunately, we were not able to see them but Linda stopped at so many different spots to see if anything was visible. We even drove into Finland to try and get a glimpse of something. Shout out to our driver Adam. Linda seems to really love her job and it shows. Even though we were unable to see the lights, she made our trip interesting and fun. The bonfire and treats we had were great. It was something I never thought I would do, be out in the middle of nowhere in the snow, eating soup and talking with strangers. I cannot recommend this tour more, and if you get Linda as your guide, consider yourself lucky.

Hunting northern lights with Blue puffin in Tromsø was a blast! We have been taken care by Linda our guide and Adam our driver. They both know their topic. Linda is a ball of energy, creating a good ambiance. And Adam knows the road by heart and drive safely. We have been lucky with ma'am in green at her best, but Linda and Adam brought us to beautiful spots to make it even more unforgettable. They are attentive to the group and always ready to help or answer your questions. Linda shoved a space for our little fire to have our soup, and did beautiful pictures (the greenest from the uploaded ones). We were a group of 12 person and went out from 6pm to 2 am. I do recommend a small bus to go northern lights hunting and go with Blue puffin, you won't regret it!!

It was a fantastic trip to look for the Northern Lights! It was just amazing! Very pontual, kind and carefull. We went to Finland, eat the great soup and saw a thin aurora, but we had changed the location and the Magic happened! Amazing auroras from all over the sky! Amazing guide and drivers. I recomend 1000000%

The experience was such excellent. The tour guide Monika and the minibus driver were so professional and experienced. It was a snow day in Tromso, cloudy everywhere . The possibility to see northern light is very very low. Monika and the driver drove more than 5 hours all the way to Finland and finally found clear sky and we were all very excited to see the amazing northern light. We really appreciate Monika and the driver's efforts.

Highly recommended tour ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It was raining and cloudy in Tromso so we were not confident we would have see anything. But Adam and Linda knew exactly where to take us. Linda was our photographer and her enthusiasm was contagious! We saw few different types of Aurora explosions. The Northern lights were dancing in the sky. Thank you guys xx

Wow!!!! What an adventure. The bus picked us up outside our hotel, they’d even put a booster seat in for our little boy. The bus was super clean, modern and cosy. We had a brief introduction and explanation of where we were headed and then a bit of background into our guide and the driver. The northern light show that followed was breathtaking. We got loads of our own pictures and professional ones done by our guide. We sat round a campfire and ate delicious soup, drank hot tea/juice and at cookies under the aurora and it was magical. We were given an email with clothing instructions and then given a thermal suit when we got out there so we were super warm and protected by the elements. Our guide was so knowledgeable, approachable and friendly. His love of the aurora and all things science was super cool and our little boy really enjoyed learning about the lights. We were super lucky with the lights, we left at around 5:30 and returned back at around midnight. Can’t recommend these guys enough. Amazing experience, worth every penny, trip of a lifetime.

What a fantastic experience! They were passionate about finding the best conditions to see the lights and used everything in their hands to make it possible. Weather was terrible everywhere and they took us to the one spot with clear skies. Bus is very comfortable, the soup is great and they so nice providing great info about Tromso, the lights and so many other things. The whole family loved it!

We had an unforgettable night. Our driver and guide knew just where to go to see the lights. As soon as we got out of the mini bus, the lights started showing up. Our guide took amazing photos of us with the lights. We had a nice campfire with yummy homemade soup, as our guide educated us on the lights. As the clear sky began to fill with clouds, it was decided to pack up and move to another location. Success again. The lights showed up and mesmerized us once again. I will never forget this experience and Blue Puffin. This company is an excellent choice, and I highly recommend them. I know there are lots of companies out there that offer the same thing, but Blue Puffin really cares and knows what they are doing.
