Tromsø: Kvaløya & Sommarøy Guided Fjord Tour With Lunch

Alex was a great guide - he took us to the most scenic spots and was very helpful with photo-taking. He made sure we all got our shots in and also stopped for reindeer when we saw them. The lunch (fish soup) was good too and a welcome break. Thank you for a great day out!

Gaia was an excellent guide with good knowledge of the local area, botany, reindeer and Sami culture. Lunch was good, but very slow.

Lorenzo was a great guide, providing a small group tour, good local information and amazing scenery, giving us time for photos and to take in the the beautiful surroundings. It was such a good day topped off with an amazing lunch at one of the destination restaurants.

The fjords are legendary and, if a boat ride isn't an option, this is an excellent way to see them in the winter. Our guide was Vera who was knowledgeable, kind, a great photographer, and upbeat. We stopped at a half dozen locations and Vera had great information and stories each time, sometimes about historical events and sometimes about nature. She also shared openly about current events and current life in the country. Lunch was a good stop as well-- the hotel in Sommeray for cod fish chowder. Given the ice and snow, do not expect much hiking or wandering around the fjords this time (February) of the year. We had a great time!

Alexandre led this spectacular small group excursion where we got to see some of the most beautiful spots along fjords and lakes on the way from Tromsø to Sommarøy. He drove us safely in the icy conditions and took some magical and candid photographs along the way - magnificent moments to be cherished. A big thanks to Alexandre!

Beautiful landscape and nice guide that really create a group cohesion. Van was a little cold for my taste but I assumed it was to not get a thermic shock when going out. Blankets could be a good idea. I did see pictures from other Arctic Fjords Tour that showed beautiful places we did not see but it might have been a different tour under the same name.

That’s a pretty short trip. Sumarøy could be a great destination for your travels next summer. This tour is not as exciting as the Northern Lights, but it is more relaxed and cozy small group with Lorenzo's warm explanations and a tasty soup lunch at a nice restaurant.

The fjord tour was breathtakingly beautiful. We made numerous stops at scenic locations on our way. Our guide Vera shared interesting information about the region and folklore during the tour. It was a memorable trip that we would love to do again.

Amazing! The landscapes were fabulous and we had many stops at different locations on Kvaloya & Sommaroy. Each time a wonder... our guide Vera was extraordinary: passionnante, interesting, knowledgeable, nice and smart, I could have listen to her for days!... she told us a lot about Norway, the Sami people, nordic culture, history, myths &legends, nature, languages... and always through a nice and natural conversation. It was really an unforgettable experience. One of the best trip I ever had! Thank you Arctic Wild Tours and thanks a ton to Vera! I can only strongly recommend!

Alex was a superb guide! He was extremely knowledgeable and shared so much detailed history and insights about the sites. He also took many amazing photos for us and was incredibly patient with the kids. Super helpful and attentive throughout the tour — we truly enjoyed ourselves thanks to Alex!

This was a wonderful trip around the islands. We stopped at multiple picturesque viewpoints and got photos taken with the guide’s professional camera. He was very knowledgeable and told us about the land, the history of Norway and islands we visited, and about the culture. We stopped at a lovely little hotel and had lunch, which was great. Would definitely recommend this tour!

It all depends on the weather. We had a lot of snow to start the day with occasional clearing but our tour guide did a great job of stopping at view points and showing us beautiful scenery. Our guide Vera was very personable and it was nice being a part of a small group.

Where do I start? The guide never introduced himself. He only seemed to make conversation with a couple of people in the tour. He did not give us any sort of summary of the day and certainly did not explain the stops that were made. It was raining and I would like to know what was important to get out to see or traipse through mud or whatever the case may be before I made the decision to go in the rain. I could hear the guide talking to the people up front but did not hear what was being said. It would have been nice for him to include all the tourists in his education, insights, etc. one of the other ladies in the tour and I agreed there was nothing spectacular on this trip. There were so many roadside waterfalls that, because it was raining, were flowing so beautifully but all we got was a glance through fogged window as we drove by

We wanted to get out of the city and experience more of the beautiful surrounding landscape, and this tour did not disappoint! Walks are brief (not challenging) and a good amount of time was provided to enjoy each stop and take photos. Our guide took photos for us too I haven’t checked them yet but what a nice inclusion! There was a lovely lentil soup as the vegetarian option at the restaurant stop. All in all, we are so glad we stepped outside of town!

We had a really bad weather, and it had an effect on the whole trip. The lunch was very light and modest, and there was not any snacks available. The guides also seemed a bit tired. Still, the nature was amazing: The sea, birds, seals and otters really made my day. On a beautiful day, this could be just awesome!

I can't praise this tour enough. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable and pointed out a wide range of things as we drove. He was more than happy to answer questions about Norwegian Arctic life and culture. The guide was also fluent in English as well as Italian and translated the Italian questions and answers to English for us so it was very inclusive The vehicle was really comfortable and warm. The group was great just 4 of us. We were never rushed at places we stopped at, and the guide was more than happy to take photos of us at a variety of places. The lunch venue was gorgeous and the food amazing. We had a solid 6 hours and saw some absolutely incredible places. I can not recommend this tour enough. It's an absolute must and great value for money.

Great tour with a great guide. Loved the tour, the spots and a great fish soup for lunch. Would definitely recommend it for a half day well spent away from Tromso.

With this organization we booked the tour of the fjords and Sommaroy, and the Aurora Borealis Tour, we had a great time on both excursions. The guides were very good and prepared, a 100 and praise for the Aurora Borealis excursion !!!!!! To be highly recommended to all those who want to remain enthusiastic in front of the colors, vaults and changes of direction of this fantastic natural phenomenon!!!!

My family and I did the fjord tour and it was really beautiful! Gaia was a fantastic guide, professional, prepared, kind and nice! We had a really great time and the scenery she showed us was amazing, one of the most beautiful tours done in Tromso, absolutely recommended!! Thank you so much

Double excursion with Arctic Wild Tours to hunt for the aurora and the fjords to Sommaroy. Very prepared escorts, Michele with precise explanations on the phenomenon of the aurora and Lorenzo on life in the fjords. I highly recommend this team for kindness and reliability.

Unfortunately, the day was very cloudy at the beginning and you didn't really see much. But after the clouds had disappeared it was beautiful. We were able to take very nice photos. Our guide really tried hard. He told us stuff and gave us warm chocolate and cookies. Lunch wasn't really overwhelming. Neither the fish soup nor the reindeer soup. Both so mowing......

Beautiful experience, the guide was really welcoming and considerate, prudent to all our needs. The places visited were wonderful. We traveled in 8 in a very comfortable van were offered hot drinks and cookies during the trip. Lunch included was eaten at a very pleasant hotel. I suggest it to everyone.

We have done several tours and they have all been outstanding. Michele and I took a tour to see the Northern Lights and it was a spectacular experience: thanks to his experience he was able to take us to the right place and we could admire it in all its beauty. We then went on two tours with Gaia. Even with her we saw the Northern Lights, beautiful, and she proved really good and prepared. The other tour was dedicated to the discovery of the fjords and Sommarøy: a beautiful day, made even more interesting thanks to his clear explanations and great expertise. You can clearly see that he carries out his work with great passion. Finally I would like to thank Lorenzo who, with patience and cordiality, answered all my questions and was always attentive to our every need. Very nice and prepared.

Lorenzo was fantastic. He showed us beautiful places, all seasoned with lots of stories and interesting information. To finish good typical lunch in a nice place.

Gaya introduced us to the region and extraordinary places of beauty, the Arctic nature in its pure state. A very friendly little group and very culturally enriching explanations. The tour is very quiet and we really had time to enjoy all the natural treasures. We ended our trip with traditional Norwegian soup in a restaurant very well located on a small island. Many thanks to Gaya for her kindness, hospitality and professional skills.

The scenery is amazing but besides, our adorable guide stopped us in wonderful places. In addition to being very kind, she taught us a lot about Norwegian culture, winter and summer activities. In short, to do absolutely.

We visited very nice places near Tromsø and ended up driving to the island of Sommarøy. Very beautiful scenery and delicious food. It was a nice day.

During the minivan tour we admired enchanting places, immersed in a unique atmosphere. The guide, competent and friendly, enriched the trip with stories and curiosities about the territory. Along the way we made several stops before reaching Sommarøy, perfect for enjoying the view and taking pictures. The colors, the coast and the snowy hills that frame it give a truly extraordinary landscape.

I had this tour with Alex and really enjoyed it. Alex himself was so enthusiastic and fascinated by the light we had on the day he infected the whole group with it. You could feel how much fun he enjoys showing us his favorite places on the tour and sharing them with us. And what touched me most: I don't like being in front of the camera, I prefer to be behind it. With all the photo shoots he offered, I never got in line. He managed to take pictures of me without me noticing. And I really like them. Thank you for this wonderful afternoon.

We went on the fjord tour with Lorenzo as a guide and it was all wonderful. We've seen places of breathtaking beauty, incredible landscapes. Lorenzo is an experienced and very professional Italian guide and we had a great time. For lunch he took us to a very nice restaurant where we had a really good typical Norwegian fish soup. He also took some wonderful pictures of us with his camera! We cannot thank him enough for the experience! Really super recommended!

Months later the best memory of the trip made to Trømso. Lorenzo and his partner accompanied us throughout the tour, super friendly and very kind, driving well in a clean, cozy and warm van. They showed us hidden corners and told many curiosities about the city and the area. Great typical lunch. It's totally worth it. Experience that I will carry in my heart for a long time and that I highly recommend.
