This was a great tour. Gavin our guide and his offsider Ben were friendly and courteous. Places visited in Tromso were interesting and Gavin drew on his 20 plus years as a Tromso resident to provide relevant and informative commentary. The cakes and chocolates sampled on the way were yummy and we finished with a hot drink and sweet treat at a local Cafe in our own "northern lights" themed room. It was my wife's birthday the day of the tour and Gavin organised a celebration with birthday wishes and candle when we were at the cafe.....this was a nice touch. It was a lovely way to spend d a few hours whilst in Tromso.

A lovely way to explore new areas of Tromso with a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. Learnt a lot about Tromso’s history and very much enjoyed the treats on offer and the afternoon tea. Highly recommend the trip
Very enjoyable afternoon walk with several stops for sweet treats. Guide was knowledgeable and friendly, taking care to make sure everyone was included. Good fun.
I had a great experience on the Sweet Temptations guided tour with OK Tromsø. Our guide, Gavin, was originally from New Zealand and has lived in Tromsø for 24 years. His experience really showed throughout the tour. He was extremely knowledgeable, safety-conscious and professional, while also making the experience enjoyable. You could tell he knew the area inside out and genuinely cared about providing a great experience. I’d highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Tromsø!
My three friends and I have a nice sampling of treats on this tour. Initially it felt like there wasn’t much to sample, given that we cut macaroons up to share. We had a good sampling of chocolates for ourselves, at another shop. At our last stop, we had a full slice of cake of our choice and a coffee drink, with a good long rest to savor them and chat with the other members of our group. This was an easy, laid back tour that did not require a lot of walking… just some.
Oda and her husband Gavin were very accommodating and Oda toured us around town to wonderful coffee and treat places - she was very informative about her town
It was e fantastc tour! Our gide, Gavin was wery kind giving us all his knowlidge about Thromso. The tour was en sweet one indeed. Thanks a lot! Peter and Gabi from Hungary
Loved the walking between stops. Gavin was a knowledgeable host and we loved hearing his anecdotes and historical facts. We were particularly fond of tea.
Gavin, our tour guide, was outstanding! The couple hours of the tour just absolutely flew by because Gavin was so knowledgeable and entertaining. The various sweets and conceptions were delicious! I fancy myself a Baker, and had one of the most delicious cakes I’ve ever had!
Wonderful tour, highly recommend when visiting Tromsø! Gavin was very knowledgeable and shared lots of interesting stories about culture, people and history of Tromsø. Tasted many treats during the tour including cinnamon bun, macarons, chocolate and the famous northern lights cake. Communication with Oda before the tour was very smooth. Gavin also gave recommendations for restaurants and shops, as well as answered any questions I had about Tromsø. Thank you Gavin and Oda for the fantastic experience, hope to visit again on one of your other tours!
A two and a half hour tour through Tromsö provided us with a good overview of the cities temptations and points of interest. We entered locations we never would have found, got informations about local women and men from the past and present who are not as famous as Roald Amundsen. Stepping in small Cafés and bakeries for some sweet tastes of Tromsö. Additionally, we got plenty information personalized to our interests. In total a sweet, interesting and informative highly recommended tour. Thanks a lot for your time and all the information, Oda. BR Ferdinand
We had a great afternoon with this small group tour. Gavin was very informative with lots of interesting Tromso stories and photo stops. To top it all the coffee and cake in our last cafe stop was delicious.
Gavin was an amazing guide! Very informative and patient. I highly recommend this tour while in Trømso.
Highly recommend this tour. Gavin was fantastic. Very knowledgeable about Tromso and gave lots of interesting facts. The cafes and cakes were incredible, in particular the final cafe which is tucked away in a location you would completely miss without the tour. Gavin also took some nice photos of me and my wife.
This was organized so well, who wouldn't want a city tour with sweet treats included? Gavin answered questions and gave us lots of information. He was a great host and representative of Tromso. Did I mention yummy treats?
This tour was amazing! I learned cool facts about Tromsø and got to taste lots of delicious sweets. The cake stop was my favorite - without Oda, I would’ve never found that hidden gem. The cake was incredible! Thanks so much for the sweet adventure!
Very informative, interesting tour of Tromso - history, culture, recommendations for local businesses - coffee shops, etc. Oda is obviously passionate about her home town. Her approach was friendly, flexible, happy to answer questions. Coffee stops - local businesses run by local families. Well worth going.
This was an excellent tour because our tour guide Gavin was knowledgeablefun, and informative. He told us the history of Tromso through stories of the sweets, people, commercial activity, and architecture. The bonus was we got to eat lots of delicious cakes in really interesting places. Gavin also gave us lots of suggestions for other places to go and how to shop with locally owned businesses. We followed a number of these recommendations, and this made our experience in Tromso even more enjoyable.
This walking tour was great. Oda was friendly and knowledgeable and her love for sharing about her country was evident. The desserts were yummy but the best part was the history lesson! It was a great tour!
I've lived in Tromsø for some years now, but this tour was a surprise! I got to learn new aspects of this town, its history and culture, in this case connected to food and cafes. Oda has huge knowledge about this topic and knows how to keep the guests entertained with fun facts...and sweet temptations! If you are curious about local sweet cuisine and want to add a stroll in Tromsø, then I recommend this activity :-)
We did the sweet temptation tour and it was good. We got to taste several pastries and lots of information about Tromso. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate.
My husband and I had a wonderful time on our “Sweet Temptations” tour today in Tromso. Our guide, Gavin, was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. His stories were fascinating! We would highly recommend Gavin’s Sweet Temptations tour! If you are lucky, Gavin might wear his Sweet Temptations signature cap
We did the sweet temptations walking tour with Gavin and absolutely loved it! It was the perfect way to spend our first day in Tromso and be introduced to the city. Gavin was a great story teller, integrating the sweet treats we were tasting with the history of the area. All of the places we visited were wonderful, and we went back to quite a few during our stay. It's clear that Gavin and his wife love Tromso, and love sharing it with visitors. Highly recommend!
We did the Sweet Temptation Tour with Gavin and it was a great experience. We got to know so many great places to get coffee and dessert and Gavin told us many interesing stories about coffeecultur in Tromsø. Definitly a reccomendation for everybody with a sweet tooth 😊
If you like sweets and want to learn about Tromsø history and culture, you will love this tour! We took this tour on our second day in Tromsø and while walking Gavin pointed out lots of restaurants, shops and attractions that we ended up visiting later. The sweets were well curated and he did an excellent job communicating about allergies with all of the shops. Highly recommend!
TROMSØ'S SWEET TEMPTATIONS was such a wonderful walk through the city. Gavin guided us from Café to Café and gave us so many interesting informations not only about the city, but also about the inhabitants and curious facts. We could taste different macarons, tasty cinnamon buns and a special cake, like the Northern Lights Cake in the last cafe. Gavin was very attentive and at last Gavin brought us to a sweet chocolate store, where we got pralines. It was a fantastic little tour l can recommend to everyone. 😍
We decided to book a Sweet Temptation Tour for the 31st January, it seemed to be the most appropriate thing to do on my birthday. :) The meeting point was at Tromso Cathedral that is very easy to find. Gavin, our guide was already there when we arrived, and to our surprise it was only us, so we ended up having a private tour. :D (More bookings were made but got cancelled, due to personal reasons, as GetYourGuide has 24 hours cancellation policy before any event. ) I'm very happy and grateful that Gavin still decided to go ahead with the tour and didn't cancel it (unfortunately our ski session got cancelled the day before, probably because there hadn't been enough bookings). Gavin guided us through the city centre of Tromso, he is very knowledgeable with local history and told us interesting stories about the city, especially the history of cafes and confectionery/pastry shops in the area. The weather wasn't the best, it was raining and the roads were covered with ice, but Gavin was well prepared with spikes to lend us if needed - how thoughtful! (We had our own crampons, and didn't go anywhere without them.) We've tried Norway's most loved pastry the cinnamon bun, and it was very delicious. Also got samples of macarons, hand-crafted chocolates and my favourite part was to have a slice of northern light cake with a mug of sweet and thick hot chocolate in one of the cafes. Gavin kept us entertained throughout the whole time with his stories, and he even thought about to celebrate my birthday and lit candles on my northern light cake and sang the Happy birthday song to me. Such a nice gesture and attention to details! He really made my day! :D Every time we'd stopped for a bite he was asking about any allergies. Luckily we don't have any, but it was a pleasant feeling that he'd thought about it (not everybody does)! During the tour Gavin gave us recommendations of what we should visit in Tromso as well. We had a great time, and I'm so happy and grateful for making my birthday even more memorable! I cannot recommend this tour enough for anyone who has a sweet-tooth and wants to see the city from another perspective. You will enjoy yourself for sure! Thank you Gavin! :)
Gavin is a fantastic guide and so knowledgeable not only about the history of Tromso and Norway but also about the traditions of coffee and cakes! I really recommend this tour
The "Tromsø's Sweet Temptations" tour is an experience worth enjoying! Our guide, Gavin, shared a wealth of interesting and entertaining insights about the city's sweets and desserts. His patience and kindness truly enhanced the experience. I highly recommend this activity to anyone with a sweet tooth or an interest in local treats. Thank you, Gavin, for making it so memorable!
The tour would be led by Gavin. He told us many historical sights and stories and showed us some very enchanting Oete. We were allowed to taste very delicious sweets. I had a lot of fun and it was a very entertaining experience. Thank you very much again
We booked the tour, although I have a milk protein allergy, as we were told at the tourist office that allergies can be taken into consideration if they are known beforehand. An absolutely great clue that has brought me to a very unique experience. On site we were welcomed by a nice gentleman. Since we were the only guests, we received a private tour just for us. We were guided through downtown Tromso and really learned a lot about the history and the historical places. The focus was mainly on power women from Tromso and of course the best restaurants/restaurants and their history. Our guide Gavin has made the tour very entertaining and repeatedly told little funny anecdotes. We went into four different shops to get a taste of it. In the first shop we got a cinnamon roll (unfortunately not dairy-free, but I still got a small gift), then we went to a French shop where we had macarons (unfortunately not dairy-free). Afterwards we went to a pastry chef where there was a wide choice of different cakes. Here there were three vegan cakes from which I could choose and a coffee or tea (for people with gluten intolerance there would also be a choice here). Absolutely delicious! The last thing we did was go to a candy store where we got chocolates. Since I couldn’t eat macaron (in the shop before) I got another chocolate. As a parting, we got discount coupons from the candy store and the confectioner if we want to go there again for shopping. An absolutely worthwhile experience, what the money was more than worth!!!!
We had the Sweet Temptations with Gavin. Many good and valuable hints and tips on the topic of sweets. Highly recommended.
