Such a great experience! Our guide was fantastic and we got to see the lights despite the rain! Wonderful time, and I would recommend this to everyone visiting!

First time seeing the northern lights, and it was truly magical! We almost didn’t make it since our flight was cancelled due to airport issues. Alshemal was very accommodating and responsive from booking all the way through the tour and even after. We felt so lucky because we didn’t have to chase or wait for the aurora - it was just there, waiting for us! Clearly visible just 15mins outside the city. Just wished we had asked for more pictures. We were told the next location is much better — but unfortunately, the aurora didn’t appear again when we reached the frozen lake. In hindsight, maybe we should have stayed, but we understand how unpredictable it can be. Still, such an unforgettable experience. We got this photo printed out (see below). Thank you Alshemal.

The Chase was Great! We met up at the cruise port in Breivika by our guide Jinyar at 18:20. It was overcast and he was deciding whether to go to the coast or to Finland. He decided to drive to the coast! We drove north of Hansnes where we had our first spotting 21:29. We then started back towards Hansnes and parked in a turnout at 21:41. We watched the lights move from east to west. While we were watched the lights, Jinyar setup a fire and provided us some hot drinks (tea or hot chocolate) and snacks. He took pictures of everyone with the lights in the background. We were at the turnout until around 00:30. Everyone in the group had a great time. When we return to Tromso, we’ll use Alshemal Norway for our Northern Lights Chase.

Jinyar was our tour guide and driver who takes our pictures. He also will look for the NL for us. Recommend this group for more time personally

Zein did an incredible job chasing the northern lights. The lights did not disappoint. I have heard that some tours go out and never see them but that was not our experience at all. We saw all the lights, then we had a campfire and Zein told us some of the history of the country and the science behind the lights. We even got to see a proposal…she said yes! It was a magical night for all.

Tour guide Zein is very good and professional, he shared a lot of northern light information with us, taking good care of us and capture great photos. And i like the campfire experience.

the whole tour took 9 hours and we were travelling for about 8 trying to find the lights. The driver tried his best but the group felt it was far too long and experience would have shown there was no chance on this particular evening. The mini bus was quite old and uncomfortable , especially sitting near the draft door. fortunately were were able to see them on a boat cruise later in the week.

This was an amazing experience. They picked us up from our accommodation in Alarmvegen in a comfortable van. The guide (whose name I forget but he was great) explained that we were going to a lookout spot that looked good, but that we might change course depending on the clouds, forecast, etc. He had a headset and was watching a bunch of weather data on his phone so who knows, but it felt legit lol. The sky in Tromsø was completely overcast earlier but by the time we got to the spot it was very clear. It was VERY cold but he built a fire, gave us hot chocolate and marshmallows, and it was lovely. Highly recommend: - Bring hand warmers. You'll have your hands out of your gloves a lot to take pictures. We had the kind where you snap the metal thing inside and they were a lifesaver. - They do provide body suits but we didn't need them. It was only about -1 C. - Choose a time when there's less of a moon. The moonlight makes the aurora quite grey to the naked eye (but the photos still look amazing). We did get one strong one where we could see all the colors even with the full moon though, so if you've already booked during full moon, don't worry! You'll still see them! - Genuinely, don't lose hope if the weather looks awful. Obviously it's never guaranteed, but the sky at the lookout point was completely clear while Tromsø was overcast, and it was only 1.5 hours drive away. - Do eat dinner first. - We saw the large bus tours and even though this one is a lot more expensive, I'm glad we did it. There were busses at the same spot, but we got the fire and our own area where it was just such a stunning experience. I was agonizing over the cost, and to be fair I felt better about it after we saw some amazing aurora, but even the baseline experience was really nice.

Jinyar was great and really took care of us-sorting us out with thermal suits, driving us around, taking loads of photos and explaining all about the northern lights and how different cultures have interpreted them. It was great to be in such a small group. We ended on a snow covered beach toasting marshmallows and corn over a fire, drinking hot chocolate and watching the sky as the aurora burst out and danced in green and yellow. It was a truly magical experience.

Amazing experience! Our guide took us to two places- the second after we had already seen some lights- so we could get the full experience! Hot chocolate and marshmallows, and we all had a laugh about the frozen corn that we tried to thaw. Both guides helped make this a warm, lovely memory, filled with moments that we will remember years from now. Thank you for giving us an experience that we will reminisce about fondly!

We had a fantastic experience with Jinyar. Even though the forecast was cloudy with weak activity, he worked hard to make sure we made great memories. He was constantly watching the radars and picked spots where we had the best chance. When there were peaks of the lights, he was quick to point them out and took amazing pictures so we would have those memories forever. He was knowledgeable in explaining things, made a warm and inviting fire, and helped make sure the group was at ease. Thank you!

If you are coming to Tromsø and you haven’t booked a Northern Lights experience yet, book this one! The tour company was very attentive to our requirements, making sure to pick us up somewhere that suited us and also messaging us before the pickup to say that fhe lights were already visible in Tromsø. The size of the minibus allows the guide to take you to quiet places with no light pollution that are perfect for capturing the Northern Lights. Our guide Jinyar pointed out the lights as we drove, and quickly took an opportunity to stop a little way away from the main road and took plenty of photographs of everyone under the night sky, taking care as well to watch for vehicles and ensure we were all safe while out of the minibus. We drove on and stopped again down a side road, in an area by a frozen lake that was lit only by the moon. The lights were very kind to us and put on a good show. Jinyar’s excitement was infectious. After many more photos, Jinyar made a fire and we all sat down for a hot drink and roasted marshmallows. It was an intimate setting and we knitted together well as a group. Another family stopped to watch the lights from the shore of the lake and Jinyar took time out to make sure they stayed safe near the lake. Afterwards we were dropped off at our apartment in Tromsdalen. The journey in the minibus was very comfortable and relaxing. The photos were available the next day, using a QR code provided by the tour company. They are included in the price of the tour.

We had an amazing experience on this Northern Lights tour. Our guide, Janyar, was very, very nice and made the whole night enjoyable. He was determined to make sure we actually saw the Northern Lights and didn’t rush anything. Janyar also took excellent photos of us under the lights, which was such a special bonus and something we’ll always treasure. The small group size made the experience feel personal and comfortable, and everything was well organized from start to finish. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Norway and hoping for a magical Northern Lights experience!

From the beginning to the end of the tour, we were able to enjoy the magnificent aurora for a long time, and it was a wonderful night. Everything about this experience was spot on from the beginning. Communication leading up to the tour was clear and easy. Our tour guide and driver were friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. They did a great job at accomodating our group which included 3 generations ranging from 11 to 78 years old. Highly recommend the Alshemal team. A truely breathtaking and memorable experience.

Choose Alshemal!Jan 1st, we were booked on the small northern light tour max 8 guests, pro photographer included, booked via tripadvisor to Alshemal Norway. We were picked up from our hotel, Zain the guide contacted us already 2 days before to make sure we were ready for early pick up if needed. we were total 7 guest on the minibus. they took us to the coast near Somaroy. the whole experience was FANTASTIC! a very good spot in total darkness, no other buses, delicious snack and top quality hot chocolate, campfire, a large number of professional photos that were in the dropbox the following day. Had a driver and a guide, Jinyar. Picked us at our apartment and dropped us back. They were focused. Not much conversation in the start or vehicle. Then got chat at the campfire. Had another trip the other night, but this one managed to get us a good spot, small group of 7, also got some shorts of the northern lights, good photos. Given thermal suits which does help sitting in cold with campfire. Highly recommended

Amazing tour. Picked up from our accomodation in a comfortable van with a group of only 8 people. We drove a long time because of bad weather in Tromso. We ended up in Finland and it was all worth it! Amazing lights and a great hot choccy and corn by a fire to finish it off. Great experience, would 100% recommend.

This tour was amazing. Very long drive out of Norway because of the weather, but so happy we did. We went all the way down to Finland and saw some amazing lights. The car was comfortable and an amazing heater, which was needed. Small group so easy to get plenty of photos! Great experience, would 100% recommend.

We were unlucky with the weather but Zein did absolutely everything he possibly could to find clear patches - including taking us all over to Finland. There were only 8 of us. He had good cosy suits for people to wear; made a lovely fire and the best hot chocolate ever!

Excellent tour - we found clear skies, had a lovely campfire with hot chocolate, warm suits, only 6 people, and most importantly saw lots of aurora activity. Highly recommend

Fantastic Northern Lights tour! Our guide Jinyar is so professional and wonderful! He never gave uo and we saw some pretty lights. Highly recommend!

We were a bit pessimistic in the beginning and the prognosis to see an aurora was not so good for the day but as Jinyar, our guide, said never give up and he kept a close eye on the conditions. And then it suddenly happened and we were amazed and Jinyar was a great photographer. Thank you for this great experience.

Alshemal is a great guide, very positive and happy. He provided hotel pick up and thermal suits. We had hot chocolate while we watched the aurora dance. He also took some great professional photos of us. The van fit 7 people so we weren't crowded. Would definitely recommend if you're in Tromso.

My son and I had THE MOST MAGICAL northern lights experience with the ALSHEMAL NORWAY team. Their guides really know where and when to go to get the best chance of seeing the northern lights. With their help, we saw dancing lights in greens, purples and pinks (with the naked eye) and got incredible professional photos of the whole experience. Everything from the small group dynamic to the camp fire with marshmallow roasting and toasty warm winter suits was perfect. There are lots of tour operators to choose from in Tromsø but we were so happy we chose ALSHEMAL!

I joined the light-chasing tour with my friend and had such an amazing experience! Our guide was very experienced and brought us to a quiet lake with a breathtaking view of the northern lights. It was just our group there, calm and peaceful. We stayed for hours by the campfire, roasting corn and enjoying hot chocolate while watching the aurora dance across the sky. Truly an unforgettable and magical night.

You cannot control the sun or the temperature or the skies but you CAN control which tour you take. Victor was absolutely amazing. He worked so hard chasing pockets of open sky deep into Finland. He made certain that we experienced the Aurora and took amazing photos for us to have forever. Drinking cocoa in the frozen landscape of Finland was magical. Dress warm (especially your toes!) and follow all of the instructions of the tour director. I cannot recommend this tour, and especially this guide enough!

Jinyar was nice tour guide who kept make sure everyone of us was okay, warm enough to sightsee northern lights. He took good care of us. also he is professional phorographer and take so many aweosme photos patiently with suggestion on posture. Im looking forward to seeing photos! I would recommend tourists to join this tour if opt for small group of northern light sightseeing with privacy!

Amazing experience! Our guide Mark was very nice, drove safely and yet could spot many auroras on the way and find parking so we could enjoy the show! The forecast was not great in Tromsø so we were heading to Finland, however, we found so many auroras and clear skies on the way that were already amazing. We were already happy and on our way back to the hotel and we kept seeing beautiful auroras and we made stops on the way back too. The pictures were so fun and beautiful! Thank you again, Mark! You really made a this an unforgettable experience in an incredible way!

What an unforgettable experience! Our guide, Mark, was so amazing! Van was super comfortable. We were so lucky we went the night we went and the skies were clear. Saw the beautiful northern lights and admired them for a while. Mark came prepared and started a campfire and brought some corn to grill and made hot chocolate. As cold as it was, he made it so cozy! Will definitely do this tour again when I come back to Norway!

Thank you for a great night even though the weather wasn’t great - Mark still trued hard to keep driving and find opportunities to capture the northern lights. I really liked how this tour picked me up from my hotel and dropped back again. The small number of people also made it a better experience!!

We had always wanted to see the Northern Lights and were not disappointed. We chose a small group so that we could move quickly as weather conditions changed. Tromso, our starting point was overcast but our excellent guide, Jinyar drove us to several sights looking for clear skies with the Aurora display improving at each one. After 2 hours we ended up near the Finish border watching the display against the stars eating marshmallows and corn toasted on a camp fire. Jinyar took great pictures of everyone which we downloaded the next day. If we had relied on our own old iPhone (SE) we would have had no photos as it had poor night picture capabilty.

Well organized and the guide was excellent. It was a cloudy and rainy day but I had no choice so he made the best efforts and I could get some decent pictures. We left at 7pm and reached back after 1am. I was traveling solo and was taken good care of. If I ever travel again to Tromso I'm doing this again.

Our guide drove us to different spot to chase the northern lights!! And got to see Miss aurora dancing!!!! very beautiful, stunning! Plus we got to experience 1st snow in this season. Everything is perfect in this trip👍🏻

It was an interesting experience. Our tour guide was very good and put a lot of effort into giving us a great experience in spite of the weather conditions (clouded over and raining). When we thought we would not see any northern light, we waited and fortunately We got very lucky in seeing the sky clear up the way it did, considering the consistently cloudy cloudy conditions.

Very nice experience of seeing the northern lights. It was a very small group (5 people) which is exactly what I was looking for. Our guide was excellent at finding the northern lights and he was very attentive. He made a fire and we roasted corn, drank hot chocolate. It was a great experience. I would recommend this company, especially because the groups are so small (difficult to find).

What an amazing experience! Jeanyah was the perfect guide. The conditions were poor, however he was determined to find the lights for us. We ended up in Finland and his tenacity paid off. He took wonderful photos and even helped us build a snowman. We could not have asked for more and would recommend this trip to all. We were even given tips for catching the lights for the rest of our stay. Many thanks for an unforgettable experience.

Fantastic trip. Our guide was very knowledgeable and took us to a fantastic spot where we saw the Aurora. The photos taken by our guide were fantastic and sent to us the next day via Dropbox. Would definitely recommend this tour. Thank you so much for a fantastic tour and for finding the aurora for us when I was quite doubtful due to the weather forecast. The photos included were my own, taken with iPhone, as the professional photos are too large to upload. Advertised as small group tour, max 5 people, however my wife and I were very lucky to be the only ones booked, so was very much a private tour. Many thanks for a fantastic night.

Amazing tour with really nice guide. We went to Finland. The aura is incredible.The tour also provides nice pictures with aurora.

This company cares about getting the best for their clients. We went with a family of 4 (8 and 10 year olds) and we by far stayed out the latest. Why? Because our driver suspected prime time would be late. So after the rest of the tours went packing we added more wood onto the fire. That’s the quality that these folks bring. 5/5 would recommend. Pro tip dress in layers. Norway at night is….cold

Our guide was a very knowledgeable caring individual. We traveled with a family of 4 (8 and 10 year olds) and all had a great time. We were literally the last ones to leave. Every other group came and left; our guide wanted to stay later because later was predicted to be the height of the display. I don’t want to jinx him, but he’s only not found the aurora twice. So, chances are great if you book with these guys because they genuinely want the best experience; even if that comes at their time. 5/5 stars! Oh, and it’s COLD thermal suit or no suit so wear layers.

This is the way to see the lights! it was so lovely having a small group that could move around quickly and we all got individual photos with the professional camera. our guide, Jinyar, took us into Finland and we parked on the side of a mountain and started a bonfire and drank hot cocoa. it was a once in a lifetime experience that i will remember forever. i am 26 but am worried i'll never see something as magical again!

This was an amazing tour. I highly recommend this tour operator. We went all the way to Finland to hunt the Aurora. He was friendly and very knowledgeable. We had an amazing time. And the Mercedes Benz Vito van was the best way to travel. I would do it again.

What an amazing experience!! Alshmal was a great tour guide, moving locations so we had another chance to see the aurora. First stop we saw the lights, sat round a fire with hot chocolate, snacks and bbq corn. Plenty of photo opportunities. When it clouded over we got back in the van and drove further northeast. Parked up again, lit another fire and watched the lights put on an awesome display. It was very cold (-18!!) but the suits provided made it a cosy experience! We were about to leave but the lights started dancing so we all got back out the van and took more photos !! Once in a lifetime trip that was outstanding!!
