Small Group Van Journey In Search Of The Northern Lights

Hands down, the best Northern Lights chasing experience in Tromsø! Our guide, Thomas, was absolutely outstanding. His incredible knowledge, expertise, and dedication made a world of difference compared to other Northern Lights tours we’ve taken. You can really feel the difference that having a truly experienced and passionate guide makes.

It was AMAZING! Samual is a great tourguide just as excited as the people he's guiding. We saw the northern lights twice and cannot explain how it felt.

We really enjoyed our Northern Lights chase with Samuel in September! The conditions were definitely not great in Tromsø (cloudy & raining, full moon), so we were a bit skeptical. However, we drove toward the border with Finland, and we were rewarded with a beautiful display in the sky! Samuel had several years of experience guiding Northern Lights chase tours and was clearly knowledgeable and passionate. We enjoyed delicious soup (vegetarian friendly!), cookies, and warm drinks around the fire. The van was comfortable for a full group plus guide (up to 9 people), and logistics were made very simple for us. There were only 4 on our tour due to a last minute guest cancelation, so even better. Beautiful photos were captured and shared as well. Highly recommend!!!

This was the WORST experience of my entire life!! The guide Joaquin did not listened to basic human needs, I had an urgency to go to the bathroom and he made me wait for 3 hours with no stops whatsoever to get to a restroom, he then decided that it had a line so we would travel for 2 more hours to the next bathroom! This is extremely inconsiderate! This bus does NOT had bathrooms and with the freezing cold is a basic need I would advise you to look for another option! I still have medical issues a year later !! I have a problem for life now! He could not decide for myself! the worst experience of my life that still has repercussions and I still have a huge medical bill!!

We had a truly magical time by a campfire, kept warm in our snow suits sipping hot soup and hot chocolate. All while enjoying breathtaking light show in the sky!! We had a truly wonderful experience touring with Fede from Northern Soul Adventures. Fede searched for the best spot to observe the lights, even though it meant driving for several hours to get there. We were deeply impressed by his ability to explain the aurora hunting indices so clearly, what they mean and how to interpret them. It felt like a fascinating masterclass on the Northern Lights, and having it in both English and Spanish was a fantastic plus for Spanish-speaking travelers. Thanks to the spot he chose, we witnessed high-intensity auroras and captured incredible photos. Being in a small group of just 8 people allowed us to fully connect with the experience and enjoy the show in peace. Tomas did a great job in finding the northern lights. We drove all the way to Finland to find an opening in the weather. It was a long drive and late night worth the time ! A once in a lifetime experience !

WOW! We loved our time with Federico! He was so passionate and took the time to thoroughly teach us all about the northern lights! It was raining in Tromso, but he went above and beyond and drove us almost to the Finnish border to find us a spot to see the northern lights. He took so much care in finding us the best spots and chances to see the northern lights- and he gave his all in helping us take pictures with our devices, he also took so many for us and of us with his professional camera.! The organization was also good and thoughtful, one of us has a decent amount of allergies- so they took care to make alternative soup and cookies for her! It was delicious! All in all, we had the most amazing time, and we truly recommend everyone to go on a northern lights hunt with Federico if you have the chance!

What an amazing experience chasing the Northern lights. The weather was very challenging, heavy rain and windy. Our expert Guide Tomas took us to a location by the coast approximately 1hr and a half from Tromsø. Still raining, then the sky began to clear. A few stars appeared and then most of the sky cleared . We waited to see if Lady Aurora would show, while we enjoyed hot soup and cookies around the campfire. And Wow the whole sky was dancing! Absolutely amazing show (colours to the naked eye pale green and white) Thank you to Tomas and Ana for a well organised, informative and professional trip.

We were hopeful but had low expectations of seeing the northern lights due to snow and heavy cloud cover. However, Northern Soul Adventures really know their stuff. They do their research, tracking conditions and adapting the plan to find the best location for that evening. We drove all the way to Finland to see the lights and had some brilliant photos taken by our guide and photographer, Bogdan. It was freezing but we were given hand warmers and shoe warmers which really helped, and had the option of a thermosuit if needed. We then enjoyed a delicious soup and hot drinks around a very warm camp fire while we learnt more about the aurora. On our drive back, an even more spectacular northern lights display started and Bogdan quickly pulled over on the side of the road so we could get out to witness the stunning display and take more incredible photos! It was a late finish but well worth it. Highly recommend!

Great great tour! Our guide Bogdan was really professional, drove to different spots to try and find a good place to settle and watch the lights. We actually went for 2 different tours, and I must say Bogdan’s photo taking skills are really 💯 compared to the other tour. Enjoyed the tomato soup, hot drinks and heat packs provided. Highly recommend!

It was an amazing experience chasing the Northern Lights with Bogdan. He is very knowledgeable, positive, and always willing to help. He not only took great photos for us but also taught us how to capture Aurora pictures so we could enjoy it ourselves. We learned a lot from him. The campfire time was wonderful; with a small group, everyone talked and shared their thoughts openly. It felt like we were on a real adventure together. After long hours of observation, hand and toe warmers were provided. The soup, hot chocolate, and biscuits were all delicious and served right when we needed them most. I give this experience a 10/10 and would definitely recommend it!"

Knowledgeable, worked hard to ensure the best chance of seeing lights. Remember you are likely to be out in the snow for several hours so dress accordingly. Be patient, the lights come and go. It's much easier to take photos with a phone than an slr camera, if you use a camera, bring your wide angle lens. A tripod is absolutely essential but you can borrow theirs. Dinner was a thermos of soup, tasty and adequate. The guide takes portraits of you which you will receive after the tour, nice touch. I would highly recommend this tour.

Not only did we spend unforgettable moments together, but it truly became a lifetime memory. Our guide, Joaquin, is deeply passionate about the nature of this country and has excellent knowledge of the aurora phenomenon. He made quick and smart decisions during the hunt, which led us to experience a magical night full of emotion and wonder. As a big plus, Joaquin also took beautiful professional photos for us with a real camera and made sure that everyone got the picture they had dreamed of. Anna, our driver, was extremely professional, always smiling warmly, and most importantly ensured our safety throughout the journey. We had a fantastic experience with Northern Soul Adventures. We travelled in a small group (8 people), which makes a huge difference when chasing the Northern Lights — it allows for much more flexibility in finding the best possible viewing spot. Our guide, Bogdan, is also a professional photographer, and thanks to him we came back with absolutely stunning photos of this unforgettable experience. He provided clear and detailed explanations throughout the evening, which made it even more special. Thermal suits were provided, along with hand and foot warmers (make sure to bring your own proper extreme-cold boots — we experienced temperatures as low as -27°C!). Bogdan even made a small campfire while we waited for the dancing auroras, and we enjoyed a warm soup that was very welcome in such freezing conditions. The tour starts around 5:30 pm from Tromsø city center and returns around 1:00 am. We would recommend bringing an extra snack, as the soup warms you up but is not very filling. In conclusion, we highly recommend this company for their professionalism and their ability to adapt to weather conditions in order to maximize the chances of seeing the Northern Lights.

Filip and Anna gave us the most wonderful experience. Nothing was too much trouble. We were picked up promptly and the whole event was well organised and thought out. Anna was an excellent driver and she made sure we were kept warm with hot drinks and delicious soup, which was served in an individual flask! Filip was great at giving us all the information about the Northern lights and the photos he took of us were excellent. The bonfire was a lovely treat on a chilly night. This was a once in a lifetime experience for us, not for the enthusiastic guide we had called Bogdan. Bogdan was so knowledgeable and excited by the lights and was able to take us to one of the best light shoes for Febuary so far. The lights just danced through the sky and we saw so many greens and pinks. They were pinch me moments. We appreciated Bodgan’s knowledge and enthusiasm for the lights. He was a very safe driver and looked after us well with hot soup, hot chocolate and cookies. We were kept warm by a fire, that we sat around while Bodgan explained the lights. This trip was incredible, as a photography enthusiast the size of trip and the location picked was nothing short of perfect. Bogdan was a fantastic driver and very knowledgeable photographer and Northern Lights expert. We were lucky to be treated to one of the most amazing aurora displays that you could wish for and the location picked was right by the coast making the most amazing back drop for the breath taking show. Just when we were getting cold, out came the fire and soup and was the perfect warming break before getting back to the light show. Simply the best way to see the Northern Lights in Tromso. An amazing experience! We were not blessed with the best conditions for the northern lights on the evening of the tour, but our guide Bogdan’s amazing knowledge and perseverance meant that we eventually managed to see them! He even captured the special moment my partner proposed and we can’t thank him enough for capturing this. The group size was perfect, the van was comfortable and overall this is a trip that we won’t be forgetting for a long time. Thank you Bogdan!

We can never forget our first northern light experience - speechless, mind-blowing, so blessed moment. Our excellent guide, Joaquin, made us experience 2 amazing shows in 1 night by relentlessly checking out the aurora bursts for more than 1 hour outside the bus in the freezing night. Our best expert driver, Ana, made our trip unforgettable, pleasant and safe.

Our driver drove exceptional distances into Finland to give us an opportunity to see the northern lights. Although we only saw them very briefly, we appreciated his effort.

So well done, a small company that takes good care of you - skilled and friendly guide, Fede, found the lights and we had a brilliant time - nice food, good company and photos. There are so many companies offering these trips, but this is a really nice premium experience and well worth every penny.

Northern Soul Adventures were absolutely amazing. Our search for the northern lights was the highlight of out trip to Tromso and this was down to the amazing Joaquin and Ana. Joaquin’s knowledge was astounding and his passion for the lights incredibly infectious. He is completely driven to give you the best trip possible. He and Ana took us to a frozen lake where we sat on the lake around a fire pit and had delicious hot soup, hot chocolate and snacks. Ana’s driving was impeccable and despite the pitch black and snowy roads we felt in very capable hands. Joaquin took amazing photographs which he emailed to us the next day. We went on a van trip with Mathias and Thomas in search of the Northern Lights. It wasn’t easy due to heavy snowfall, but thanks to their experience, determination, and the use of several apps, they managed to take us to Finland under a clear sky. There, we were lucky enough to witness a beautiful aurora display under the full moon. We warmed up around a fire with a delicious soup while listening to Thomas share fascinating anecdotes and explanations about the Northern Lights. On the way back, they did their very best to look for more activity, but unfortunately there was none. Thank you both for this unforgettable evening. I highly recommend them. Christine

We had an unforgettable adventure with Northern Soul Adventures chasing (and finding :) the aurora. Our tour guide was Bogdan and we really couldn’t get a better guide! Not only was he very knowledgeable about northern lights and the region but also very kind and professional. Considering that the weather in Norway was a disaster, Bogdan took us straight to Finland and we managed to see a beautiful spectacle of northern lights. We had a very nice campfire with some soup and hot chocolate, while enjoying the aurora constantly changing shapes and colours. Not to mention all pictures that Bogdan took are absolutely dreamy and a perfect souvenir. We have a comparison to other tour operators and if we ever come back we would definitely chose Northern Soul Adventures again.

This was one of the best experiences we have ever had! Our guide Fede was fire ! He was extremely knowledgeable, patient, kind and beyond professional. We weee paired with an equally easy going French family of 6. We were a total of 9 people including our guide. We were so lucky to see a corona, the best kind of auroras. Fede took frame worthy photos, we had yummy hot chocolate, soup, coffee and snacks, thermal suits, heating pads. We would love to took the trip again, specially with Fede !

We had a fantastic experience with our guide JJ. He took us to a great location, the timing was perfect and we arrived right before the lights exploded. No other tour groups were with us so we had the spot all to ourselves. This small tour was fantastic, and felt very special with the campfire and food. Highly recommend!

We had an amazing night in Skogsfjord, lead by Bogdan! It was our last night in Tromso and we were waved good bye by an amazing Aurora! Bogdan made it feel safe and we had to believe in him since we started with a sky almost completely covered! He gave great photo tips and took amazing photos of all in the party, whilst driving, making the fire, serving soup and hot drinks, imparting a lot of info about the northern lights and being super-positive and fun! All in all I am very happy we chose Northern Soul Adventures - would go with them again!

We had the most amazing viewing of the lights and both Tomas and Mathias were wonderful hosts. We learnt a great deal about the science behind them and were kept nice and warm by the fire, with lovely soup and drinks too. We would highly recommend this experience to others!

Our tour guide Samuel is a polite and professional guide. He tried his best to make our day. At first, due to the weather conditions, we didn’t have high hopes of seeing the Northern Lights, but Samuel kept monitoring the instruments closely and told us that there was a chance of sky clearing up at around 10 pm. As soon as we arrived, we ventured a bit further on our short hike to find the perfect spot—tucked away from the crowds, deeper into the woods, with a stunning view all to ourselves. After a while, Lady Aurora began to make her appearance, dancing gently across the sky. We lit a cozy campfire, sipped warm drinks, enjoyed hearty food, and had a blast experimenting with light painting—our creativity knew no bounds! The aurora put on a magical show, and we had an unforgettable time. Thank you Samuel and Northern Lights Adventures.

An amazing experience chasing the northern lights in Tromsø with the great @fedesajoux ! @fedesajoux was an amazing guide, friendly, knowledgeable (I learnt more about photography that night than I have in 3 months looking at YouTube videos!) and his enthusiasm spread to everyone in group creating a great atmosphere. It really was a once in a lifetime experience and one that I will never forget. Highly, highly recommended. If you get a chance to visit Tromsø you owe it to yourself to do some northern lights chasing and @northernsouladventures offers the best experience possible. 10/10

Unique arctic experience with very well prepared and super kind guides. Filip and Lucas did their best to provide us a lifetime menory. We were lucky to enjoy some very beautiful and strong aurora activity shortly after setting up the bonfire.

We had an amazing experience on this northern lights tour with Filip and Lucas. The tour felt very intimate (no more than 10 people) and they had truly thought of everything: hand and feet warmers, a cozy campfire, delicious soup, coffee and hot chocolate, flashlights and overalls to keep us warm even in the freezing temperatures. They took us to a secluded beach far from any light pollution, where the northern lights reflected beautifully on the water. It was an absolutely magical spot. We had the chance to spend time with two inspiring guides and learn more about their life stories and experiences. Filip and Lucas make a fantastic team, well balanced, warm and genuinely passionate about Norway. They also taught us a lot about how the northern lights form, which made the experience even more special. The photos taken by Filip were absolutely stunning and captured these unforgettable moments perfectly. We had a wonderful time and will carry these memories with us forever.

We were only four participants, and the tour was simply fantastic! It was exactly how we imagined our Northern Lights experience: personal, intimate, and warmly wrapped up in the Arctic night. We were well taken care of with hot drinks and a delicious tomato soup (I would love to have the recipe!). Tomas is a guide with true passion, and his enthusiasm was contagious. Mathias, our driver, was outstanding — he navigated the new minibus safely and attentively through the night. All in all, a wonderful experience that we highly recommend. We would book with Northern Soul Adventures again in a heartbeat.
