We spoke with several different companies, some very popular and others smaller, but George’s thoughtful, honest, and prompt communication immediately stood out, and we knew we wanted to book with him. We ended up booking multiple tours with him (day and night tours), and every experience surpassed our expectations. George was incredibly accommodating and flexible, especially given the unpredictable weather. What stood out most was how genuinely invested he was in making sure we had the best possible experience. He was generous with his time, willing to adjust plans and drive farther to give us the best possible chance of experiencing the northern lights. His knowledge and experience with northern lights chasing were evident. We also appreciated all the thoughtful touches that made the experience extra special, from the campfire and food (vegetarian/vegan options) to the warm suits and hand warmers. The long drives were enjoyable with a comfortable van with a glass roof. He shared high-quality photos from our evenings together with a remarkably quick turnaround. By the end, it felt less like we were on a tour and more like we were spending time with a friend. We truly cannot say enough good things about George and would wholeheartedly recommend spending your time with him!

We booked a private tour for a family of 7. George was outstanding: the familiarity of an old friend with the knowledge and experience of an expert guide. He was savvy and quick to identify where we might have the best opportunity to see the lights despite the poor weather forecast and conditions, and made quick decisions to make it happen. The overall experience was wonderful – including the photos as well as the campfire with delicious homemade food and hot beverages which he organized in extremely efficient fashion. I recommend him to everyone I share our photos with. To some extent we were lucky that our trip coincided with exceptional solar activity but I don't think we would have seen what we did without George reacting to prevailing conditions in real time and knowing where to go, when and why. We could have easily missed out without him.
Two amazing trips with George whilst I was in Tromso. Booking was straight forward, instructions clear and good communication with George before the trip. Very comfortable vehicle. George is passionate about the service he delivers to his clients as well as ensuring the best possible chance of seeing the Northern Lights. Yes, you might pay a little bit more than a lot of operators, but I would genuinely highly recommend a small group tour with George. Lovely home made soup, camp fire and cookies etc all added to a very enjoyable time. On my first trip, George had to work really hard at finding some clear skies, but clearly he had all the apps available giving him the data he needed, plus good communication with other guides so we did end up heading in the right direction and did see the lights. The second trip was closer to Tromos, on a beach alongside a fjord which was just magical. I would highly recommend George to anyone. Thanks for making such memorable moments!!
Our guide George was very knowledgable about the area and he was committed to ensure that our group had the opportunity to witness the northern lights. He provided us an hot meal, warmed us by a fire and gave us information about the area we were in and the science of the northern lights.
Very good experience on the tour. The guide George, who is also the company owner, is super passionate. He first drove us to a lake, lit a fire and used a professional camera to detect changed in the solar activity. While he made us coffee, hot chocolate and veggie soup, the northern lights gradually appeared. Everyone was happy and excited with the light displays , and when we thought that we had see everything and planned to leave, George predicted further light storm activity was brewing and advised us not to give up on chasing the lights. He then brought us to a mountain to catch more borealis activity. Finally, we ended up seeing the most beautiful aurora!!! He was informative and took great photos for us too!! Highly recommended for an intimate experience!
Great experience until I realized that the picture files are not given to you after the tour. You can only access compressed versions unless you pay an exorbitant amount. Around $25 for one picture file. You pay a lot of money and then they ask for even more money for the pictures. Really disappointing.
The goal of my trip to Tromsø was to see the Northern Lights, so I made an exhaustive research for the best tour. I was looking for a small group and a guide who could take us to Finland if necessary. I looked over lots of reviews and reddit forums and I finally decided to book with Boreal Quest, which was an excellent decision. George is a great guide, he cares about the group and is really passionate about the Northern Lights. He knows where to go depending on the weather, and also keeps contact with other guides so they can help each other to find good spots. The van was very comfortable and he drives smoothly. He explained the plan for the night and answered our questions, he has a good knowledge about the aurora, the weather, the geographical area, and how to take photos of the lights. He also was taking care of our comfort and safety. The lentil soup was delicious and the hot chocolate and cookies next to the fire were good to fight the cold weather. We didn't need them but he also has thermal suites and hand/foot warmers. Quickly after we arrived to the spot with clear sky, we started to see the lights. It was an amazing and incredible experience. Sometimes he was telling us to look to a certain point because there the lights were going to be more intense. He took as many pictures of us as we wanted. At the end of the tour, he left us at the door of our accomodations. When I'm going back to Tromsø I will book another tour with him for sure!
Traveling with George to view the Northern Lights was comparable to traveling with a great friend who wanted to share his passion and knowledge for the magic in this world. It was an extraordinary experience to leave the rain and overcast skies in Tromsø, Norway to arrive in Finland under a night sky filled with the choreographic dance of the colorful Northern Lights. George went above and beyond to make sure that everyone was safe, comfortable, and had the best viewing experience possible. He was very knowledgeable of the local area and roads, and a very welcoming host with very tasty refreshments. The moon roof in the van allowed us to see the lights as we drove, which felt like a bonus. It truly was a highlight of my visit to Norway!
I had been planning my Tromso northern lights trip for 8 months. I have sorted and read through every company online that is offering a trip to see the lights. It was endless narrowing down to find the right company that would fit my expectations of wanting a small group that is more personable, unique, and most importantly being able to actually see the northern lights not just a chance for it. After reading each of the websites fine line and sending emails to get to know each of the companies, I ended up choosing them after chatting and emailing with George. I just got the feeling it was the right one and I was surely not wrong. He answered all my questions and concerns I had for this trip especially since I was traveling with seniors. A day before my scheduled trip I was worried about the weather in Tromso, it didn't look promising. George reassured me not to worry. George was prompt at the meeting point, our group were introduced to one another and he gave us a rundown of the schedule and what to expect. You can tell he was a seasoned guide and his expertise is unmatched. We drove north-west where he found nice spot to set a campfire, weather was decent where we did not need the jumpsuits although they were prepared for us along with hand warmers. We sat and waited while he set up his camera as well as the drinks and hot food that he prepared. He guided us through and made sure we were patient till "Finally" the lights showed up. The lights were bursting along with the blanket of stars were once in a lifetime experience and surely George also captured it on his professional camera which he kindly emailed them to us. Having been on many guided tours all across Europe, Boreal quest was just different from the start and its George that makes the difference. His enthusiasm and passion to show us the northern lights at all costs is priceless.
Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. George was a kind, smart, wonderful guide with instinct that led us to a great spot to view nature's show. He carefully led us down a path to a beach with mountains and a lake to serve as pretty backdrops to our photos. We enjoyed a warm fire and delicious soup, took many photos, and just enjoyed learning about and admiring the lights. Bonus was receiving an email the next day with photos of us that George took against the beautiful backdrop. I would give this 6 stars if possible! Thanks, George.
After being frustrated with the weather in Tromso travelling with George to find clear skies was just the tonic we needed. At first we had to travel as far as Finland seeing the northern lights for a while before the haze came. We moved to a second spot that, then to the third and final stop. Just back over the border into Norway George took us down this single lane piled high either side with snow to an open area where we watched the Aurora not only appearing and dance for us with reds, pillars etc but it gave the most grand finale of a circlet above our heads when it exploded. We were treated to hot food by a campfire, expert knowledge of what was happening, where to look, how to photograph it, addition clothes, hand and feet warmers if we wanted. Nothing was too much trouble. An incredible and magical night. Thank you George. And I only had an android phone! You should see my son's real photos.
I must say that this aurora trip was one of the best experiences of my entire journey. On the day we went aurora hunting, there was heavy snowfall in Tromsø and my expectations of seeing the northern lights were already very low. George was incredibly honest and kind — just before departure, he clearly explained the situation and even offered a refund if we decided not to join the tour because of the bad weather. Despite that, we all decided to go ahead with the trip. George then drove us about three hours away from Tromsø into Finland in search of clearer skies. At first, we could only see very faint northern lights. But George didn’t give up easily. He kept taking us to several different spots — places where even other tour groups didn’t go. And then, suddenly, boom — we saw an incredible aurora explosion on a night when the chances of seeing it were almost impossible. George also prepared soup, hot chocolate, and a campfire to keep us warm throughout the trip, which made the whole experience even more special. I would highly recommend Boreal Quest and George to anyone looking for an unforgettable aurora experience
Having recently turned 70, and thinking about what experiences I still wanted to have, "seeing the northern lights with my own eyes" made it to the top of my list. So I did some web research, selected Tromsø as my best bet for success, and explored many different guide/quest services, settling on Boreal Quest, with its small groups and high sighting success rate. George was a wonderful driver, host, and guide -- and he was determined (on a rough-weather night) that we would find a way to see the lights. He drove completely safely, but was clearly watching the skies as well as the roads, pulling off at unexpected times in unexpected places to take advantage of breaks in the cloud cover, and using his mobile phone to be in contact with other drivers, sharing information much as safari operators do. We got to drive through beautiful scenery, enjoyed a delicious meal, every once in a while George spoke to the group -- just the right amount of lore, just the right amount of science, and then: WE SAW THE LIGHTS -- after a calm first few hours, the skies opened up and gave us a heavenly show: pillars, swirls, drapery textures, bridge shapes across the sky. It was one of the most amazing things I've ever witnessed. I'll always be grateful to George for his guidance, and for going WELL beyond expectations to give our group the experience of a lifetime. Watching lights shimmer and pulse in the sky, knowing it to be an interaction of our home planet and our sun -- it really felt like we were allowed a glimpse of the gods dancing -- a ballet in midair, made of light.
George was a wonderful guide and did everything he could to make sure we had a chance to see the Northern Lights. Unfortunately, there were clouds cover that evening. The plan was therefore to drive towards Finland in a minibus about a two-hour journey, where the weather conditions were expected to be better. However, we were lucky to spot the Northern Lights already at a remote location in Norway. At another stop we were able to catch the lights again and enjoyed a cozy campfire with delicious soup. It was a beautiful and very close-to-nature experience. Traveling in such a small group (6 guests and one guide) was great. I can highly recommend this tour!
If there is one group you would want to go and experience northern lights then please do book it, our guide Peter was just amazing and gave too many information about northern lights and the photo quality is just amazing - worth every penny. Highly highly recommended
Excelente! Peter is a great guide. In fact, he is not just a guide, he is an Aurora Boreal hunter.. it was an excellent tour. I Recommend it
We had the most incredible Northern Lights tour with George. After a lot of research beforehand, we were really keen to go with an independent company and a small group, as we wanted something that felt more authentic and personal. The weather conditions were really challenging and unpredictable on the night, but George was so enthusiastic and his dedication completely paid off, as we were treated to a brilliant, unforgettable display of the aurora after driving very far into Finland. Thank you, George, for going above and beyond for us, and also for capturing some great shots of us and the lights :) we highly recommend this tour company to anyone considering booking a tour to see the Northern Lights from Tromso.
Peter was our guide, and everything was amazing!! He was very passionate about the tour. I went with my parents, and he was very helpful all the time. Our group had 7 people and started at 5 pm. We stayed out until 2 a.m., and he was so good at finding the lights and stopping at the right stops. Amazing pictures. Would go again.
What an incredible night of viewing the aurora! George was awesome as he drove us 2+hours out to find clear skies. Hot chocolate, homemade lentil soup and a campfire were all a bonus and greatly appreciated. George provided hand and foot warmers, good company, good food, and a spectacular light show!
On 19 December 2025, our family of five joined George from Boreal Quest for a Northern Lights tour in Tromsø. What we experienced that night was far more than just a tour but an experience! We were staying outside the city area and George was kind enough to arrange pickup and drop off from where we were staying. That already meant a lot to us as a family, and in winter. The weather that evening was not ideal. The skies were uncertain and many might have called it a difficult night. But George did not give up. He drove us far outside the city to increase our chances and kept searching patiently. We could feel that he genuinely wanted us to see the lights, not because it was his job, but because he felt responsible for the experience of every guest. As a husband and father, safety is always on my mind. There was a steep and slippery slope at the viewing spot and George personally helped my wife and daughter up. He did it naturally and without hesitation. In that moment, I felt a deep sense of reassurance. We were not just customers to him. We were people he felt accountable for. Throughout the long wait in the cold, he made sure we were comfortable. The warm local soup and snacks were simple but thoughtful. It showed that he understands what families need on a cold winter night. When the Northern Lights finally appeared, George’s passion truly shone. He set up his professional camera and took many beautiful photographs of our family. He patiently guided us on how to use our phones to capture the lights as well. The photos turned out amazing and he sent them to us promptly the very next morning. What stayed with us was not just the beauty of the aurora, but the feeling of being cared for the entire evening. George carries a strong sense of responsibility towards his guests. You can see it in his actions, not just his words. We are deeply grateful for the memories he helped create for our family. If you are considering a Northern Lights tour in Tromsø, I highly recommend George and Boreal Quest. You will be in safe and caring hands. Thank you, George, for giving us an experience and memories that we will always remember.
George was an excellent guide! He was very knowledgeable about the aurora and found the absolute best spot for us to watch the view!
Goryge met us nice and early - around 17:15 - Goryge is super friendly, informative: shared some folklore stories about the lights and some of the science behind them. - He was really committed to making sure we had a great experience - he was SO enthusiastic - Goryge made us the most DELICIOUS homemade soup and hot chocolate - He helped me get the right settings on my camera so my photos were amazing - thank you! He even let me borrow his tripod ☺️ - Super comfy transport, safe driving. Ensured we were happy and comfortable during the journey. - we only drove 1hr 20mins before we pulled up at an amazing location in the mountains to see the northern lights. - We made a stop enroute for the toilet and on the way back - Goryge took incredible photos and sent them to us within 48hours! Tips: - Book well in advance - Dress warm, it was -15C and we were outside for about 2hrs in total (we didn’t wear the insulated onesie but Goryge did offer them to us) - Handwarmer and toe warmers are great - Crampons/microspikes make it easier to walk in the snow - Consider taking a powerbank - batteries drain really quickly in -15C - Consider packing a few extra layers and snacks because you can just leave them in the car
Superb evening spent with George to see the Lights, which despite the very snowy day in Tromso, we did !! George was very friendly and knowledgable, and we drove out to secluded spots best placed to watch the show. Most importantly, George’s trip departs early to as to beat the multitude of tour vans all heading the same way !
We had the absolute most magical experience with our guide Peter from Boreal Quest! Peter is extremely knowledgeable and just a cool person to hang out with for a few hours. He was extremely committed to giving our group the best chance at seeing the Northern lights and found great spots to view them. The pictures he took are fantastic and very high quality, and he sent them to us very quickly after our tour along with a nice summary of our night! The van we used also had a cool rooftop window, which allowed us to keep an eye on the sky as we moved locations, and when some of us in the group noticed the lights emerging, Peter quickly found a place to pull over. We also enjoyed the lentil soup and hot cocoa, and we had a great group of people with us who made the night even more memorable. I can't recommend this tour enough--truly once in a lifetime and worth every penny!
We saw the Lights! The most amazing night ever! Nature gave us the show of a lifetime. Peter was our guide and I would definitely go on another adventure with him. Very enthusiastic and knowledgeable and passionate about the northern lights. Small group is the way to go and Peter will work his magic and help you experience the lights as we did.
Our leader George was determined to give us good opportunities to see the lights. He assessed weather conditions ongoingly, traveling to a spot with the clearest skues. He was knowledgeable and personable. In addition to explaining the lights, George happily addressed questions. He was responsive to individual participants’ needs. Refreshments included hot drinks, a delicious homemade lentil soup, bread, and cookies. At the end of the trip, he took each of us to our lodging. Not to be forgotten, George photographed lights throughout our trip and will send his photos in a day or two. This was a totally satisfying trip. George was excellent in all respects.
It was a great experience. It was a tough night to see the lights and George took us into Finland where we were able to see the lights!
George, of Boreal Quest, was a wonderful guide. He showed us the most beautiful Northern Lights we could ever imagine, far exceeding our expectations. He led us to a stunning location, a magical place where we were alone under a starry sky, surrounded by snowy mountains, the water of a fjord and the most sensational and breathtaking Northern Lights. He took some wonderful photos of all of us and the landscape and told us lots of interesting things about the Northern Lights. It was a unique experience!
My wife and I had an unforgettable aurora hunting experience, and it was truly special thanks to our guide, George. On that night in Tromsø, it was snowing heavily, which made the conditions more challenging. Because of this, we traveled many kilometers, driving late into the night and even crossing into Finland, until we finally found the perfect spot — at exactly the right moment — to see the northern lights. George’s dedication and persistence made all the difference, and seeing the aurora after such an effort was incredibly rewarding. The vehicle was very comfortable, and the warm soup and hot chocolate were wonderful touches during such a long and cold night. We truly appreciate George’s professionalism and commitment. Highly recommended — a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us as a couple.
We originally had a tour booked with another company that got cancelled, and because they didn't have availability while we were in town, they recommended George's tour that we gladly accepted. The trip with him was amazing! The size group was very small, so we were able to socialize with people with the same interests as us, making this trip even more enjoyable. Since the weather was so nice with perfectly clear skies, George chose to take us on a beautiful fjord, where the moon was lighting very nicely the landscape. Very soon after we left the town we were able to see the Northern Lights, and during the trip we moved to 3 different locations, the night being full of Aurora activity. George is so knowledgeable about the phenomenon, he explained to us so many things. We cannot recommend more this tour!
This is my first TripAdvisor review and trust me when I say George and Boreal Quest deserve it. It is so difficult to filter through all the different tour companies in Tromso, after reading a bit you quickly understand that smaller group size is generally a better experience. But even then, you still have dozen of companies and they all sound amazing. For me the stakes of choosing the best tour company were even higher as I was planning to propose to my girlfriend under the northern lights. Finally I shortlisted and chose Boreal Quest to do the job in this once in a lifetime night. I couldn’t have chosen better! There are no words. George was fantastic, communication was great leading up to the big day, he even helped me prepare a few surprises for my girlfriend (if you’re reading this George, can’t thank you enough!). We did a private tour with George, the weather was not ideal but George made the night a true “quest”, honoring the company name. From the beginning you can tell George is not your regular tour guide, he is super knowledgeable about the area and frankly speaking gives the most accurate (and understandable) scientific explanation of the auroras phenomenon (even better than different museums we visited). The chase of the auroras was super dynamic and a mix of gut feeling and science which was super interesting to see. We were one of the few people who saw auroras that night thanks to him and he made our night magical. To add a few extra points to this experience, the car is super comfortable and equipped with thermal suits if you need them. George prepared some tea and hot chocolate and cookies during the quest but the star of the night was the homemade lentil soup (you’re not booking this experience expecting great dinner but this was such an upgrade compared to other tours that give you “soup in a box”. Lastly, experiencing the lights in person was a dream come true and George was also able to capture many nice pictures of the lights and us (which he edified and shared in the same night!). We did other tours during our trip and they had great passionate tour guides also. But what Boreal Quest offers thanks to George (and Peter) is honestly a best in class experience for the same price point as other tours. Hoping this is helpful to whoever is reading and make the decision to go for Boreal Quest
I joined the tour of Jan 21th and it was the best decision I made in Tromso. I had joined the tour of other agnecy the night before and I'd repeat with that agency until a friend connected me with Boreal Quest. Everything was perfect. George's (and Yvana's) vibe, kindness and experience made that a really special night. He took us to a perfect place (a desert beach) where we saw fantastic Northen Lights and they prepared a campfire with foldable stools, hot drinks and amazing homemade soup. They also had insulated coveralls and body warmers (thermal stickers) available if someone in the group needed. The fact that they work with smaller groups is something to be highlighted!
What a great night George was a great guide and very passionate about what he does. Is attention to making you feel welcome was second to none when finding the N/L Highly recommended. Wes from Australia.
We had an amazing time on the aurora tour with Peter. He is very knowledgeable about not just Aurora but the history, geography, culture, lifestyle and everything related to Tromso and its inhabitants. He kept us engaged throughout the drive. The star of the show northern lights were beautiful, Peter took our pictures, made time lapse videos and set up a lovely camp for us. I would highly recommend going with Boreal Quest and with Peter.
The effort our guide put into our trip was amazing. Initially, we tried to catch a spot at an idyllic and remote coastline. Even though we already spottet northern lights then, we needed to switch our spot due to the upcoming clouds. Our guide raced to the next camping spot far away, and did anything possible to a human, so we could catch that opportunity. He also received a professional photoshooting, followed by a bonfire, soup and cookies.
It was an amazing experience with George. He brought us to 3 different places before we settled around a fire with hot soup and bread. George was constantly checking in with us whether we need any warmers/thermal suits to make sure we were warm. The northern lights that day was an amazing sight! Love the cozy tour and the pictures taken of us. Thanks George :) (attached photo taken by George)
Our guide Peter is the most enthusiastic, determined and obsessed with his work guides I’ve ever met ( and we have been on plenty of tours ).He’s a “fanatic” in the most positive sense, and even if we hadn’t seen the Polar lights,he was shining for us from within. But we did! We were witnesses to one of the most fascinating miracles of Nature, words and photos will never describe it.We saw them at 3 different locations, and for the 3d one Peter woke us up after 2 am when we were taking a nap in the minibus :) Some other guide would have gone home to bed,but not Peter. He took our photos,he showed no signs of fatigue,he shared some very interesting info on Norway. Now we want to come back in the fall. Thank you very much for the experience of a lifetime ❤️
We arrived in Tromso on Sunday and were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights ourselves locally. We debated should we cancel our tour for Monday night but were we glad that we didn't! George was brilliant, he found us a great location outside the city where it was only our small group, his enthusiasm was infectious, his knowledge (whether science or folk fables) was huge and that was before he lit the campfire and brought out the homemade meal and the now infamous cookies. This all set the backdrop to Mother Nature giving us the show of our lives, in its truest sense it was AWESOME, just when you thought it could get no better, George would say no .. it's building energy .. and BANG .. it would dance across the sky like something from a science fiction movie. It is a night none of us will ever forget and he even captured photos of it all to prove it really happened! THANK YOU [the photos below are my own poor effort captured on my phone, check his gallery or website for his amazing ones!]
It was an amazing Adventure! We were REALLY hunting the Nothern Lights in a much more private tours than the commercial ones, we were at a spot with clouds we still saw the nothern lights but our Tour guide wanted us to have the best view so we took some pictures and continued to a better spot with no View, there we could see the Nothern Lights dancing and took some even more Pictures! Best Tour in my Life. thank you.
George was truly spectacular. He arrived promptly to pick us up at the hotel and was incredibly kind to us from the very beginning. He drove us to a strategically chosen spot, based on his expertise, to ensure the best possible experience. This allowed us to see a great number of Northern Lights over three hours. He was very clear in his explanations, and the information he provided was very accurate. He offered us soup, tea, bread, and cookies, lit a fire to warm us up, and had folding chairs available for us to sit on. He also provided gel hand and foot warmers, which were very useful. During the drive, he explained some things about the city, and we were also able to share some of our stories. Another plus is his professionalism as a photographer. He offers a tripod if you need one to take your own photos, but the best part is being able to enjoy the natural phenomenon without having to worry about photography and leaving that task entirely to George. The experience is highly recommended, and his personal touch makes all the difference on a tour of this kind.
We had a great and fun experience with George being our guide. He’s very hospitable, and travelling in a small group does give us the flexibility, especially with a young kid. George ensures we are warm enough and comfortable.
I came to Tromso with High expectations. George at Boreal Quest exceeded them! Thank you for the awesome memories! The tour is brilliantly organised, and George was super helpful from first contact, so I booked 2 trips - one with a group and a second private trip. George had mastered this tour. He knows the area and can read the conditions to head to the perfect spot, away from the crowds. And the early start means you get the best spots. He also knows his photography and can help with camera settings if you need it, and is also happy to share composition suggestions that you can’t easily see in the dark. Then there are the smaller touches like the fire, which is lovely to sit around while eating the delicious home made soup and bread. And we were also given forwarding inserts for our boots, that I didn’t know I needed - amazing - along with super warm arctic suits, which I recommend using - I cold on the first night, even with the 7 layers I had brought! We had incredible lights both nights and I came away with some stunning photos. I will be back!
This was beyond my (very high) expectations! Having dreamed of watching and photographing the Northern Lights for more than a decade, I finally had the chance. I wanted to have the time to get some good pictures, avoid large crowds, and wasn't keen on watching the lights from a roadside or carpark, so was looking for a tour that fit the bill. George was super helpful and flexible from my first enquiry. I was confident enough from the booking experience to book 2 nights. Night 1 was a small group, and the second night was a private tour. George has mastered this tour. He knew exactly where to go under the weather conditions. Early pickup allowed us to get the prime spot - and we were treated to an incredible light show. And his knowledge of the science behind the Aurora makes the conversation fascinating as we learned how and why the lights behave the way they do. And with the fire, and his delicious homemade soup and bread, when the lights were quiet, we enjoyed the warmth and the food. Then there are the little touches - Foot-warming inserts for my boots were a comfort i didn't know I needed, along with warm arctic suits, which I used on the second night as the temperature lunged. And he knows how to capture stunning photographs and is happy to share his experience there too, sharing compositions that you can't easily see in the dark. I broke my tripod on the way to Tromso, but George had spares there too, so I managed to come away with pictures I could have only dreamed of... And the second night, we headed to a different location for more of the same. Both were exceptional in every respect and exceeded all my expectations. If you like the sound of this tour, I cannot see how you would regret it... Thank you George. I have no doubt I'll ONLY be booking with Boreal Quest when I go back for more!
Wow, what a memorable night. After a bit of a chase we saw the northern lights in all their glory and my goodness was it magical. The small group setting with the campfire, homemade soup (so good!), hot chocolate and biscuits with the northern lights in the background was incredible. Overall it was an unforgettable experience and my favourite tour I have done to date. George is very knowledgeable, kind and friendly and puts everyone at ease. If you’re thinking about booking this tour, I would not hesitate!
George was super professional and had everything covered - thermal suits, hand and foot warmers, hot drinks and food and a cosy campfire. Bestof all he got us to a great viewing spot about 90 minutes north of Tromso in perfect time. We saw a spectacular lights' display unfold as we arrived, which dazzled us for for quite some time. Once it had faded, we settled around George's campfire, enjoyed delicious soup, cookies and hot drinks and listened, whilst he regaled us with both the legends and the science of the aurora. It was just our small group under the beautiful skies. A truly memorable evening!
George was really professional and friendly and made great effort to ensure we had a super aurora experience. We witnessed a spectacular lights' display and then enjoyed his delicious soup and cookies around the cosy campfire, whilst he regaled us with the legends and the science around the aurora. We were lucky enough to see the lights relatively early in the evening and so all agreed when we ready to head back to the city. It was a memorable evening.
Highly Recommend George's Northern Lights Tour! Totally magical and he has a scientific basis for this magic! So happy we get to join his tour on our 2nd try. The first one , we weren't as lucky. But his tour is excellent! He knows his beans, explains thoroughly the phenomenon and he's got all this checks to make sure we catch and capture this on our trip! Had to drive close to the Finnish border to chase the Aurora. We were the first ones there, as we are about to leave, saw the rest of the tour groups still setiing up camp. Thanks George for this wonderful sighting! Mother nature was kind enough to show her beauty on this night, but I think you weaved your magic to make this possible :)
A smaller compagny is the better choice for such a trip! George really tries his hardest to find the best spot, is very knowledgeable and the food he brings is home made and amazing! He starts his trip earlier so you'll be ahead of the big busses and have the best chances to have a nice spot! He's a great photographer so you'll have some nice memories from the night!
Chasing the northern lights in Tromso was unforgettable. George was an exceptional guide, very professional, friendly, and clearly passionate about what he does. He knew exactly where to go for the best views and made the whole experience feel magical. The trip was well organized, with every detail thought through, from timing and comfort to photography tips and warm drinks by the fire. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a truly memorable northern lights adventure.
Incredible experience. We had already given up on being able to see the Northern Lights given it was forecast to be cloudy the entire time we were in Norway. However, Georgy pulled through and beat the rush to find us two awesome spots not far from the border of Finland. The man really knows his stuff and his passion for the lights matches recaps from friends. I too am happy to join the club of those who recommend Boreal Quest to anyone that has the lights on their bucket list. His 100% success rate continues!
