Amazing experience, definitely something I would highly recommend! Even though we didn’t get to do the sledding part due to no snow this was definitely a great experience.

Reviews
We were fortunate that we had heavy snow the days we were in Tromso which made the Reindeer experience all the more special. We were on the front sleigh and had the reindeer from the sleigh behind at the side of us all the time, an amazing experience. Feeding the Reindeer was nice too especially the young ones. Hot drinks were available throughout the trip along with cookies. The traditional lunch was amazing, we thought it would feel odd eating reindeer stew having just fed the herd but it was delicious. The Sami talk was a little confusing as it was all in German so we went back outside to enjoy the scenery sat next to the open fire with hot chocolate.
Well organised and friendly. Found the gift shop expensive- 820nok ( £60) for a small bell, postcard and tea leaf strainer. Turns out all these items were sold in several other places- even the airport. Hope the profit supports the Sami
Learned about the Sami culture and got to feed reindeer and enjoyed reindeer stew, The night was made perfect by a spectacular Northern Lights show.
What a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this. Feeding the reindeer and learning about the Sami and their culture was a great adventure.
It was amazing to see the reindeer herd in their natural environment. It was great to be able to feed them and wander through the herd. We loved the short reindeer ride and appreciated the woollen blanket. The favourite bit for me was the free hot chocolate and biscuits which were available for the duration of the visit. We enjoyed learning about the Sami culture too.
It was a really nice tour. Good overview and use of time. Perhaps a little pricier than would be expected for the quality of the tour.
Great Tour. Same exact tour offered by the Cruise Line. A lot cheaper. Only drawback is you go to them. They are not there at your ship. Fun time feeding the Reindeer. Staff was terrific.
Really enjoyed the beautiful scenery with all the gentle reindeer. Feeding the reindeer and watching them interact was a unique experience. And the sled ride was so much fun. The Sami guide was very entertaining and informative. I would go back.
This was a once in a lifetime experience for my partner and I. The reindeers are free to roam and come to you whenever they want to eat from the bucket of food provided. The scenery is beautiful and the short sledding was memorable. The storytelling was wonderful and we were happy to hear that we are promoting the Sami culture. The reindeer stew was really delicious.
A really worthwhile, well organised 4 hour trip m. Perfect for all ages.Really interesting to hear more about the Sami culture too.
Only there for a day. Loved The Troll Museum. Very entertaining. Also did the Sami Experience. Feeding reindeer, sleigh ride and reindeer stew. Highly recommended.
This was a wonderful experience! You really get up close and personal with the reindeer! If you are looking for real interaction with wildlife, you will love this! We learned so much about the Sami Culture and lunch was delicious. Take the longer sleigh ride, it is worth it just to take in the amazing scenery!
You'll have a lot of fun with the reindeer. But there will be a lot of people there.
Hosts and experience overall - well organised snd not rushed. The Sami host Maria was amazing and explained how this experience funds and saves Sami herds. Meeting the reindeer was special the each have their own personality. I think there are a couple of different trips each one has a particular length of time for the reindeer sled ride - so consider the longer ride option. I wish we had now plus the reindeer stew was delicious.
Very interesting insight into the world of Norwegian reindeers and learning about the Sami culture. Really nicely done, we enjoyed the feeding and reindeer sledding and also definitely learnt a lot about the history and traditions of the Northern Sami people.
The tour was great.Sami people are very welcoming, friendly,They do speak good english.you can contact with animals as you want to do,places are under tent warm,Guides are intrested in with any problems,if you want to know Norwagian culture, you should join this tour.
It was wild weather when we went so we knew the sledding part was cancelled. But when we arrived they told us we wouldn’t be feeding the reindeer either and to not go outside and the reindeer were not there. I think we were expected to sit there for 3 hours. In the end I asked if I could go outside and when we did a bunch of people followed. The reindeer WERE there and more came when they saw the people come outside so we eventually got to feed them. So it turned out to be great but was a bit of a weird start and felt initiated by us versus the people running the tour. I highly recommend this experience though.
Very fun experience. Cutest reindeer herd ever! Definitely recommend for all to experience. Must do activity when visiting Tromso. Introduction to the Sami culture and experience well worth it!
I had a fantastic experience! The reindeers are cute, although one of them was a bit too eager during the feeding so it kept pushing the other reindeers (and me included) with its antlers. Nothing dangerous, but just keep an eye on their antlers! The sledding was nice, but I’m most excited about the Sami people. It was great learning about their history and culture while enjoying hot chocolate, cookies, and reindeer stew (vegan option available).
This experience was very lovely! It was to the point but still interactive. Of course the reindeer may be the main attraction but please do listen to history of the Sami Culture, it was very informative. As for the reindeer they came on their own and left, at times they may get a bit territorial (most are pregnant at this time). If that happens just simply bring your bucket up and walk to a different area. The white/albino reindeer were calmer than the others in case you’re a bit nervous. The sledding was a good amount of time for me, just enough to take photos and videos but also to get a moment to be in the experience (remember it’s usually a pair of people in 1 sled) !
We went to Tromso to see auroras -- which we did -- but this reindeer experience was unexpectedly right up there with the auroras for me! They are lovely!!! <3 Also, it was interesting to learn about Sami people around a warm fire. We took the shorter option for the reindeer-pulled sleigh, which gave us more time to feed and hang out with the reindeer.
The reindeer sledding was short and adequate . Fun part was the feeding and being up close to so many beautiful reindeers. Sami talk was good and the reindeer stew waa delicious
We were delayed by a few minutes and unfortunately missed the bus, but the camp was only about 30 minutes away and we were able to reach by Uber. Despite it being dark and cloudy, the overall experience was very enjoyable. Reindeer feeding was a highlight — the antlers can look a bit intimidating, but the reindeer are gentle. Sledding was fun as well, followed by lunch and learning more about the local culture. The experience ended on a beautiful note with a traditional yoik song performed by our guide, Inga
Well organised etc but like everything in Norway very expensive, €500 for one adult and 3 kids to spend 10 mins on reindeer ride (honestly kinda boring) and 20 mins feeding the reindeer. Listening to Sami lady speak about their culture, while interesting but honestly this is really not worth the money. If it had cost €50 each I would say yes do it, otherwise honestly don't spend the money on this, 4 hours of mostly sitting around or on a bus.
Reindeer everywhere! Beautiful setting to hear the Sami history and culture and pet/feed and go on a sleighride. Very immersing.
A wonderful fun and educational experience. We learnt a lot about the reindeer and the Sami culture, would definitely recommend.
Such a great tour! The reindeer were so pretty. You have plenty of time to feed them. Tour guides are very nice and super knowledgeable. This was our favorite tour in Norway because the result was nearly guaranteed, unlike other tours based around nature (which is no one’s fault).
A great experience. Such fun to be among and feed the reindeer. Fascinating to learn about Sami culture. Our guide was exceptionally articulate and passionate about her culture. 100% recommended
It is a good experience however, long wait between activities. I would recommend it for families but be mindful of limited options on drinks and alternatives while waiting.
Wow, wow, wow! One of the best experiences we have ever had. This group is very well organized and there is a set schedule to follow. First you feed the reindeer, then you go on a sled (that was the best part), then you eat and last you hear everything about the sami culture. The sami culture is truly amazing they show you everything including the songs and have you sing as well. This tour is definitely one of the best ones we have been on.
We recommend 100% this tour, was really nice! We had a lot of time to feed te reeinders, and get the dinner too, was a beautiful experience, and the Sami’s culture was really interesting, we lovedd the reeinders🫶🏽
It was wonderful especially in the snow. Very well organised and the Sami hosts were informative and helpful throughout. It made our brief Tromso stay very memorable.
The experience overall was nice. I enjoyed learning about the Sami culture and hearing the traditional yoik. The only reason I rated this tour as average was due to one incident. I went to use the restroom and came out to an extremely rude male employee yelling in my face “can you read?!” because I hadn’t realized that I’d stepped into a staff restroom. I was in there for all of 3 mins tops and didn’t intentionally use this restroom because I didn’t see the small “staff only” piece of paper on the door. As a single female traveler, being yelled at by a man- especially one who is an employee of a tour I paid to come on is very disheartening.
Really lovely trip . Well organised. 300 reindeer ready to be fed . We couldn’t do the sledding as the snow wasn’t right condition. That was the only reason I marked it as a 4 . Sami people were so friendly and we learnt lots about their traditions. Definitely would recommend.
This is a cultural experience with the Sami people and a chance to see and hear about their lifestyle, which is fantastic! A chance to meet, feed, and interact with the reindeer was wonderful. Unfortunately the weather precluded the sleigh riding experience but we didn't mind as we got to stand out with the reindeer in an Artic blizzard! Great experience, and thoroughly recommended.
This was an experience of a lifetime! Did not expect that I would learn so much about the Sami people and that we would enjoy the reindeer as much as we did. The host were gracious and informative! This is quite possibly the best tour we have ever done!
We had a great time feeding the reindeer, learning about the Sami culture, and partaking on the scenic sled ride! When we visited it hadn't snowed in a while, so 15min ride was more than enough, but if the weather is beautiful and there are snow on the ground, 30min ride could be a great deal!
Amazing morning with the Sami. Enjoyable reindeer ride and lunch. Interesting information on Sami culture. Would definitely recommend.
Informative, felt welcomed and enjoyed all activities of tour: journey and bus stops, sled ride, hearing about reindeer and Sami life following nature and listening to Joiks. The warm fireside and hot drinks and trying reindeer stew.
It was a good experience where we got a chance to feed the reindeers, take pictures, and get a Sami culture overview from the guides. We were served food and hot beverages. Overall, it was a good experience getting a chance to meet and feed the reindeer and also learn about the Sami culture. The only disappointment was that we did not get to sled and were informed about the cancellation half an hour before the tour was to start.
Very nice experience. Interesting and fun. Sami people seem kind, although sensitive tourists, which is understandable. That is unfortunate, and has to be taken into consideration
The start of the trip was slightly chaotic. The meeting point was at a particular slippery location, that could have been gritted. The guides arrived on time, but shouted inaudible instructions to the tour participants. We were meant to form two lines, but it ended up in a confused crush. One of the guides was particularly surly and unapologetic — her response to complaints was that it was not her fault if people refuse to cue. The registration process simply hadn’t been well thought out. On the bus another guide introduced her herself over the microphone, but said nothing more during the journey. Some background information about the location of the camp and its history would have been appreciated. The camp itself is a 30 minute journey away. It doesn’t feel as remote as some will expect, with several houses nearby. The Sami people were wonderfully welcoming. All aspects of the visit to the camp were first rate. Reindeer feeding was great fun, and the process was carefully explained. The stew we were served was delicious. The sleigh ride itself was short, but enjoyable. The talk and storytelling was deeply informative and the joik proved very moving. The bus returned to Tromso on time, and the drive felt safe despite bad weather. The Sami people made this experience and deserve 5*. The blue jacketed tour guides were less professional in their approach.
Yes, it’s a bit pricey. Yes, the sleigh ride feels like the adult version of the pony ride at a local fair. And yes, reindeer feeding is akin to feeding animals at the petting zoo, albeit with pointy antlers to watch out for. Nonetheless, all 4 of us, including our adult-aged ‘kids’ loved it. The entire visit was well-orchestrated and the lunch (regular and vegetarian/GF options) was tasty. Listening to the Sami woman talk about the culture was fascinating and it was a bit disappointing that she had to cut her discussion short as our group needed to get back on the bus. It was obvious that she enjoyed sharing her history and could have talked much longer. We would have preferred more time to listen to her stories and a bit less “free time” to wander around and explore the reindeer camp. Outside of that recommendation, the entire experience was a lot of fun and I would highly recommend it.
An enjoyable experience for people of all ages, well organised, well looked after, brings learning to not only the reindeer, their place in history of Norway and present day but also the history of the Sami people and their continued present day struggles. Really worthwhile doing.
Loved the experience with the reindeers and the ride was amazing. The culture was well explained and feels good to know that our trip helps to directly support the reindeers and the Sami community, which is cultural and spiritual.
Despite the snow storm, we had a great experience. Everyone is very welcoming, there is plenty of time to feed the reindeers and we learned a lot about the Sami culture. Lunch was great in a cozy tent.
From the moment we arrived, we were made so welcome by the Sami people, they were so friendly. The sledding and feeding was very enjoyable, the reindeer are such beautiful creatures. Afterwards we were treated to hot chocolate and cookies, before being served reindeer and vegetable stews. Both were so tasty. After the meal concluded we were entertained with songs and stories of Sami life, it was such a warming experience. One of our party was celebrating a birthday and so many people, Sami and visitors, wished her a happy birthday. Sue was surprised by a very thoughtful and unexpected gift by our host. Such a lovely afternoon, very much recommended.
Unfortunately the sledding part of the trip was cancelled due to the weather but that couldn’t be helped and it was still a great day. We enjoyed feeding the reindeer and learning more about the Sami culture in a really cosy lavu.
Amazing farm with lots of reindeer , friendly staff . Saying that it is too close to the city, this leads to sledging getting cancelled regularly . My friends did another tour and they were able to do sledging over 2 days but our guys cancelled
