The reindeer were friendly and adorable. Lisa, our Sami guide shared a lot of interesting info about her culture. It was raining but we had a good time.

Itinerary
We would like to invite you to visit our Saami camp with hundreds of reindeer surrounded by stunning scenery and the famous Lyngen Alp mountains. This is a family friendly activity enjoyed by all ages. Our camp is far away from the city lights and noise, so it is the perfect spot to look out for the northern lights while being surrounded by hundreds of reindeer. The natural wonders can sometimes be predicted but never guaranteed. You will participate in the daily feeding session of the cutest herd of reindeer at our camp, and here you will have plenty of time to get up-close and personal with our charming creatures. You will also be welcomed into our wooden lavvo (Sami hut) to warm up when needed, and there you will be served a range of hot beverages to drink (coffee, tea, and chocolate) and a hot meal for dinner. Our expert guide will tell you about the fascinating reindeer and share some secrets about how to survive life in extreme Arctic nature. By taking part in this evening excursion, we hope you will be charmed by our reindeer—the true hero in the Arctic. At the transfer you will share a bus with up to 48 of our guests who participate in different activities.

A completely unique and wonderful experience from start to finish. A great insight into the Sami culture from Anna, a good 45 minutes to meet and feed the reindeer. We were incredibly lucky to have the aurora come out. Then back into the warm for reindeer stew and hot chocolate. A really lovely, well organised evening.
I expected this excursion to be touristy, and it basically was. The bus was prompt and spacious, making for a comfortable ride to and from the camp, which was about 50 minutes outside of town. So, yes, I got to see reindeer up close, which was my goal. Most of the participants fed them. I was hesitant so I stayed most of the time outside the fence, just admiring them. The dinner portion was disappointing. I was expecting a traditional lavvu, but instead, it was what looked like a newly constructed wooden shed. The dinner was skimpy--delicious reindeer soup, bread and margerine, storebought cookies and powder to make cocoa. I was happy to hear from someone from the Sami culture and she provided some interesting information, but, here too, although she was a nice young lady, it was very rout--not much enthusiasm and not that insightful. So, for this amount of money, be aware that the dinner is skimpy and half of the tour is riding on the bus; to me, it was expensive for what we received. I also think tour operators should consider dropoff at specific hotels, rather than a central site when an excursion ends late in the evening. We got back around 10-10:30 and then had to make our way to our hotel.
Incredible experience. Up close and personal with the reindeer. Sanna was so sweet and we learned a lot about their culture. Camila and Maia, the rest of her team were also friendly and helpful. Would give them 10 stars if possible
It was an amazing evening. The vegetable soup is gluten-free, but the reindeer meat soup is not. The vegetable soup is delicious. It's fun and informative
A beautiful Norwegian experience which was so well organised. Loved to hear about the Sami and the reindeer were so friendly. We were also so lucky to see the aurora.
Great tour, knowledgeable guide, tasty food, cute raindeers! Very memorable. Even saw a little bit of northern lights!
You get to visit one of the Sami reindeers herders' village and learn about them first hand. Reindeers are super cute (and extremely photogenic) and so the experience is really fun. Snacks and the main course are a pleasant addition. Highly recommend.
Got to pet reindeer and feed them. Talked a lot about Sami culture. Was a nice bus ride with comfortable seating.
Zero late policy. We were 4 minutes late due to traffic and tried to meet and contact tour operator. No contact. We were so sad this was our valentines date.
Large group of people waiting at the meeting point without clear instructions. there was another group of people feeding the reindeer before us, I believe the reindeer were full and walk away from us very soon, there were more people inside than reindeer. It was boring during dinner as the share of Sami culture was after dinner. Good thing is you can see the reindeer closely & the share of Sami culture is interesting.
Could not find tour guide outside Radison Blu where told to meet. We were there at 1740, walked a block in either direction and waited in cold for 40 min, then gave up. Will cancel payment on card.
I was alone in this tour but met a new friends from Australia, Greece, Italy. It was amazing. Feeding of Reindeer was fantastic experience for me. Reindeer s are so lovely. I enjoyed also by Saani history and culture.
Truly excellent on every level. Everything was very well organised, coach journey was straightforward/ easy. The Sami village was fascinating, very welcoming. Feeding the reindeers was fun, the guides were very informative about their culture. And we had fantastic views of the northern Lights. Highly recommend
This was a fun family experience for me, my husband and our 11yo son. Getting to the reindeer camp was like driving through a snow globe - all part of the adventure. On arrival we were greeted by our Saami guide, Anna, and led to the welcoming and warm lavvo (Saami tent). Once settled, we headed out to feed the reindeers in the nearby field. We spent almost an hour with the reindeer. They were gentle with us, although not afraid to chase each other out of the way for the best feed buckets! Next, was a delicious meal in the tent, with option to eat either reindeer or a vegetable stew. Bread, cookies and hot drinks were also provided. Lastly, Anna gave us a really interesting insight into many aspects of Saami culture: how they heard reindeer, changes and challenges from climate change and explanations about Saami dress across different regions of Lapland. The tour exceeded our expectations and was a fun and interesting experience in Norway.
The trip was cancelled when we arrived as there had been a car accident blocking the coach to pick us up. Disappointed but out of their control
We are very glad we booked this experience. It was a privilege to learn about the Sami culture, feed the cute reindeer and be lucky enough to see the northern lights. An all round fantastic evening.
A great experience, the guide was very knowledgeable, the reindeers were adorable, we walked among them and touched them while feeding them. It did feel a bit stretched out, we certainly did not feel rushed.
The tour location was easy to find. Everyone was helpful! The reindeers were awesome- and we truly did get a spectacular view of the Northern Lights.
We enjoyed this entire experience, it was a lot of fun and food was good. The guide was very informative.
The experience of feeding the reindeers was very nice, however, you'll only get one feeding bucket each, no refills. I think the maximum capacity per session is too high: in our case, there were 10 fewer people than the maximum capacity, but we still barely fit into the cabin to eat. Regarding the Sami culture, there was a final speech by a representative, mainly about the difficulties the Sami community is experiencing nowadays and a demonstration of traditional clothing. Finally, I don't know what chances we would have had of seeing the Aurora Borealis given the light pollution of the camp.
Informative and fun. Getting insight into the history and lifestyle of Saami culture was nice to have especially coming from a native. The interaction and feeding of their reindeer herd was fun. The reindeer can be a little feisty but most of them were gentle. I thought the feeding would be quick but they gave a lot of time for feeding and pictures which was nice. The native dinner was okay.
It was a magic and wonderful experience. I learnt a lot about the Samis. We were friendly hostes by them.
The experience was well put together with a lot of information about the Saami people and their practices. Feeding the reindeer was exciting and fun they are sweet creatures who enjoy their food.
The guides went out of their way to give us a great experience. Nothern lights, raindeers, sami stories! A wonderful evening!
Wonderful experience. We learned so much about the Saami Culture, we spent time with the reindeer, dinner was ok, and then we saw some Northern Lights!! John and Michael were amazing hosts. Highly would recommend this tour!
It was a lovely trip, well organised the reindeer stew was lovely. The Sami people were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble
I would give this experience an average rating, as the whole thing was a bit touristy. We were promised a small group tour at the time of booking, but later found that they are taking two large busses full of people to the same spot. The trip was supposed to be about knowing Sami culture, but we met only one Sami lady. I am not sure that the experience can be termed authentic.
It was a beautiful experience. Reindeer are lovely!! We had a chance to see the northern light by the bonfire! The warm soup and bread was also very good. I learned a lot about Sami culture.
Lots of reindeers! We didn’t expect them all to be marked and they were definitely not keen on being touched. We didn’t the evening tour so lighting was definitely not the greatest in certain areas but otherwise we did get to spend a good amount of time w the reindeer. The reindeer stew was great!
Lovely evening about 45 minutes from Tromso. Was great to interact with the reindeer and the talk about Sami life was interesting. Food was tasty and plentiful.
Such a beautiful immersion into culture, feeding reindeer, and seeing absolute beauty. They were so kind and informative. This is a must!
We were quite upset by this tour. Unfortunately. We experienced the reindeers very stressed and this stress was ping ponging between the animals and the tourists. The animals were actually fighting about the food and didn't seem to have any respect for humans and were very greedy. On the tour we'd been told, the reindeers were wild, but we had more the impression of very spoilt domestics. Once, they also overran a little girl, when they paniced. The staff around didn't seem to be neither surprised nor interested. Also the staff didn't pay attention to protect the animals from inapropriate tourists. That was an experience we didn't like at all. Afterwards we got into a shelter, were we'd been served with snacks, hot drinks and a tasty vegetarian soup. We liked that. Then later was some Saami lesson. It was said for this tour that the guide is able to speak English. I therefore awaited a fluent speaker or someone knowing the needed vocabular, minimum. Maybe it was just a starter we had, but the person explaining the Saami culture did so in a very basic English, used a lot of "ehms" and breaks searching for words. That made it hard to follow and we didn't understand all. A pity. She seemed to feel uncomfortable and insecure, too. We honestly recommend to not do this tour, to choose one instead with smaller groups and teams that were paying attention to the animals needs and safety. Fingers crossed for comfortable English. What really bothered us is that we were told that the Saami are very connected to nature and take care that everything was treated with respect - however the food and drinks were served in take away dishes with plastic spoons. Even paper cups.. Overall the pricing was too high for too little value - it felt like a touristy rip off.. Viator, please check on this. It was just a short sneak view we had, but we worry about this.
Get an experience feeding reindeers at close counters. Listened to an episode of Sami history by the Sami people itself. Not able to see Northern light due to bad weather
This was really a fun experience to end our four-day trip to the Tromso, Norway area. It was fun hanging out and feeding the tremendous number of reindeer at this Sami ranch which has 200+ reindeer. The Sami people are most welcoming and hospitable. They enjoyed providing us with historical information about their people which was most appreciated. Our evening was complete after having a bowl of reindeer or vegetable soup. Transport to the site was via a bus.
I and my family had a wonderful time with magnificent northern lights! Guide has full experience of watching, and it is lucky for us to meet him!
It was a great experience to walk through and feed the reindeer. Our host was very nice and informative. Would definitely recommend.
The trip was organised well, the drive was quite long to get to the reindeer camp but the bus was modern and comfortable. Feeding the reindeer was really lovely but once you had fed them there was a bit of sitting around until the soup was served. The sami host was great and we learnt a lot about their culture and traditions.
It's was nice to see how gentle Reindeers are. The night was made with an awesome Aurora. The Reindeer soup was pretty bland and the talk wasn't great either. Left still wondering what the Samis actually are. The guy just told us what each month in Sami was. A very large group too.
The bus ride was comfortable. The reindeer visit was as expected. The indoor area was cramped. The restrooms didn’t have urinals and weren’t designed for men and three of them at least had problems with the door not closing or locking. The food was pretty good but there was a shortage of cups and water. Maybe during slow times it’s better.
Brilliant experience. Really couldn't fault it. Great guide. Well organised. Food was amazing. Reindeer we gentle and friendly 💙
Feeding the reindeer is a short experience but unique. Dinner in yurt was warm and heaps of food. The Northern Lights were spectacular that night so we spent most time outside viewing but disappointed not to hear more about Sami culture.
Great experience. The reindeer were about 1 hours ride from Tromso on a comfortable bus. We had plenty of time to feed the reindeer and stroke them (they were very calm around people). We then sat down and had some delicious stew (and we were allowed to go back for extra portions if we wanted to). Out Sami host then began to tell us about their fascinating culture but he was interrupted by a superb aurora showing which meant he paused to allow us all to take in the breathtaking display outside. The only downside is we didn't get to hear the rest of our guides talk on Sami culture. A lovely, memorable evening.
The staff were mostly nice, all very friendly except the man who was told to help us with our snow suits. The reindeer experience was fine though there was no help in how to approach or feed them and several reindeer head butted a few people which resulted in bad brusing and pain that no one seemed to care about. They claim the reindeer were wild despite being fenced in, and I was disappointed in how heavily commercial the whole experience was in busing in large groups and pushing us through with no care or anything to give us anything but a routine commercialised experience. The shop had nice things but they all cost twice the amount of what you pay in town for the same thing. The stew was disappointing, very watery and so over cooked the meat had a weird tough, lumpy texture. They were supposed to provide a dog spedding experience which was dropped quietly and they only told a few people we'd get a partial refund but had to ask for it but no one explained how. It was also not explained why we couldn't do what was promised as there was certainly plenty of snow. The tour was only good for spending time with reindeer but that was it. Unfortunately another misleading tour in Tromso.
It was an enriching experience experience feeding the reindeers and listening to the Sammi culture. A tour to book if you wish to have a close up with the reindeers and know about the Sammi culture.
We met many reindeers and fed them. They are so cute and friendly. Then we ate the reindeer soup, it was good. We also learned about sami culture.
John shared his Sami culture with us in a very meaningful way. He taught us about the history of the Sami people and their passion for preserving their culture.
This experience was absolutely AMAZING!! Got to see some Aurora as a bonus!! Would do again, for sure! The speaker was great! The food and refreshments were great!
Spending time with the beautiful reindeer’s, sitting around the fire pit, relaxed and warm. The vegetable souo and bread was lovely. listening to the Sami discussion, learning about the Sami culture very entertaining. Enjoyed by my family of 4 .
The whole night was amazing. Loved the raindeer definitely greedy girls! The talk about the Sami people was so educational. Loved it all.
