The most fantastic tour, and Horia needs a raise! He went above and beyond to make sure, that we had the best trip. A true gem! We were so lucky, and saw the most spectacular northern lights, while we sat around the fire, and walked the frozen lake in Finland. A trip we will never forget!

Itinerary
Begin your evening tour in search of the Northern Lights with a convenient pickup from city center of Tromsø.. You'll embark on a nighttime hunt for the sometimes elusive Aurora Borealis. Although Norwegian nights are cold and it can take up to several hours to see the colorful light show, the wait is worth it. You're provided with a thermal suit, a snow-side bonfire, and hot drinks and snacks to keep warm along the way. Your 8-passenger tour vehicle takes you deep into the darkness with a small group and a professional photographer as your guide. In addition to snapping your own photos, your guide will take pictures of you under the lights and be of assistance to help with your own equipment, including provided tripods; a Canon is available for a fee. Professional photos taken during the tour are later sent to you via email or social media. After a stop for dinner, your 7-hour tour ends with hotel drop-off in Tromsø after midnight.

If you are finding any beyond-expected northern-light hinting, stop here and pick it! DON'T HESITATE! BOOK IT RIGHT NOW! It is a completely unforgettable extraordinary experience together with our guide Horia. He is professional, passionate, experienced, and humorous. He knows exactly where to find the right position and time for the best northern light, in terms of many forecasts. During the trip, we watched northern lights bursting TWICE! That is definitely one of the most excellent journeys I have ever experienced! Never so close to nature! He is also very kind and enthusiastic. After the trip, it was so late to catch the last bus and he dropped us off exactly before our apartment. Thanks for all the service that is pretty rewarding. I deeply recommend it with 120% confidence! I will definitely book it again when I come back. Best Regards from Hedong
We did the tour on December 9th, and was just spectacular. Our guide was Horia, and he was amazing, funny and helpful. He explained us about the Aurora, and clarified our questions. He took as many photos as we wanted and didn’t bother about our “complains” because of the weather 😂 He also looked for the best spot to us to see the northern lights with comfort, so we dons freeze. At the tour you’ll have something to eat and hot drinks, and thermal clothes what is much appreciated and needed! An unforgettable experience with an incredible agency/guide! I deeply recommend it, and when I came back I’ll absolutely book with they again. Many thank for everything and kind regards from Spain/Brazil.
We had an amazing experience and felt very lucky to witness the amazing Aurora dancing above us! Andrei was informative and attentive. He helped with my camera setup & provided addl photos he took himself. (Also provided tripod) I'm usually not one for tours, but this tour I 100% recommend!
We had a great time hunting the aurora (and seeing it) with Andrei. He is a very knowledgeable guide whose own passion and hobby is aurora and astronomy. Nobody can predict or guarantee that aurora is gonna be visible that night, however if its possible Andrei will make you see it. He took good care of us with the warmth of the fire, hot drinks and some sweets. We can only recommend him for a true polar experience! Lucy and Peter from Hungary
Lovely tour, with a knowledgeable and fun guide (in our case, Andrei). We were very cared for with everything - loved the scientific info and recommendations we received.
I will start by saying that we did see the lights, although the weather report was not looking great for Tromso. Andrei took us out of the city, in a perfect spot close to the sea where there were no clouds! The lights appeared after about one hour of waiting, but we did not get bored with Andrei in all this time. He is very passionate about stars and photography and he gave us a good astronomy lesson, all while having hot tea and cake near the fire. I would go back to Tromso at any time and have this tour again or one of the other tours that Andrei is organizing this spring, in Chile and Patagonia. I bet those are going to be amazing, as well.
The tour was fantastic. Absolutely loved, Andrei os great helping woth the camera settings, he has a lot of tripods to lend. He did a fireplace to keep us warm while we waited for the lights, gave us cake and hot tea. amazing 6 hours tour, totally worth. Although the photos on my camera was a huge sucess thanks for him and he sent the photos of mine that he took with his camera, out of this planet. for sure I refer the company for people
Andrei was great driver and tour guide! Customer Focus. Great Fun! Excellent photo. Thermal suite was very useful. Love it!
Andrei drove a lot for us to find the perfect spot to watch the northern lights, and he found it. After small northern lights here and there, we arrived at the best spot ever where the sky went crazy. The northern lights were literally dancing for us while Andrei took pictures of us in front of them. We received theses pictures afterwards. Andrei is also very passionate about northern lights and the universe in general. Around a fire, we had the chance to ask him questions about all this. He also offered us a tea/coffee and a chocolate cake to get warmer. After this unforgettable night, he gave us a ride back to our hotel.
5 start, totally reccomed! Anthony is the best guide of all, has the best plans and the best energy, also a very good photographer! The experience was perfect, a dream. The best part of it are the conversations during the eating and drinking next to the fire pit, enjoy The people around you!!
It was a great experience. Our guide Andrii was great and we saw a wonderful northern lights show. Wonderful evening.
What a fabulous experience!! Andrei is so experienced with his knowledge of the Aurora & how to read the skies, therefore finding the best location. He made a small fire where we toasted marshmallows & he also provided us with cake, biscuits, tea & coffee. His excitement for the lights is also expressed in the wonderful photos he took of not only the Aurora but all the guests too.
Awesome experience!! It was absolutely amazing! Andrei was an incredible guide. He gave us a lot of informations and details about Northern lights and we have learnt a lot thanks to him! He offered his help for setting up everybody's cameras and phones to take pictures. He also took a lot of great pictures, was really kind and joyful! After a few hours around the fire, we had hot drinks, cakes, and then we were lucky enough to see the northern lights. To finish with, Andrei bring us back to our respective hostels. Unforgettable experience. And a special big up and thank you to Andrei!!
We’re so glad with the experience and Andre have a large knowledgement with stars, photography and northen lights too. We recommened to everypeople.
Brilliant experience!!! Totally recommend it :) Andrei was such a great guide, giving us so much information about the Aurora Borealis and we’ve learned a lot about taking photos in this trip. He helped us setting up our camera so that we made the best of the Northern Lights. We managed to have a great view and we arrived just at the right time to spot plenty of dancing lights. After this we enjoyed a delicious cake and tea around the fire with the rest of the group, who were a great company. It is a marvellous activity and I believe choosing the right group makes a difference so if we were to choose again we would defenetelly pick Enjoy the Arctic ! Andreia & Dani
We went with Andrej the 21st of December. He was very kind and helpful. We didn't have to wait very long for the aurora. Andrej helped us with our camera settings and he brought enough tripods. We were lucky to be in a very small group. Only 6 persons including Andrej. It was a trip I will never forget. We took some amazing pictures. And thank you Andrej for the photos you took of us.
It was an unforgettable experience. Andrei came prepared with a lot of information and the car was as full as Santa's sleigh with hot equipment, tripods, chairs, tea, coffee, biscuits and a real treat was the carrot cake. We went north in an attempt to get rid of the clouds and although the chances were low we also had the northern lights. The pictures taken by Andrei were wonderful and the whole experience was impeccable and clearly recommended and repeated.
We had a fantastic experience with Daniel and were lucky enough to see the lights twice in the same night (there were two periods of increased activity, one of which was quite late and Daniel was happy to stay out beyond the advertised time, having checked the whole group was also wishing to do so). Warm clothing, reindeer skins and a bonfire kept us warm and Daniel brought a delicious stew, cake and plenty of hot drinks for us to eat and drink. He was knowledgable and interesting company as well as considerate, being helpful and caring when my partner was feeling unwell near the end of the tour. From some of the other members of the tour I understand that they had initially booked to go on the tour the previous day but Andrei had asked if they would like to change dates to improve their chances of seeing the lights, which I think sounds like excellent service. Would strongly recommend.
We had an amazing tour and got to see the aurora. Our tour guide was really knowledgeable and great company. No issues at all and comfortable transport for the journey, thermal suits are offered if needed along with hot drinks and cake
Amazing tour with an expert guide. Andrey was very nice, well prepared and professional. He explained camera and mobile settings to take the best photos, while he took us of course some photos too with his camera. We waited for the Aurora around a fireplace, eating sausages and drinking hot tea or coffee. The Aurora was just like a fairytale, unbelivable, to see the sky becomjng green and green, dancing waves and super vivid color. We will never forget this experience! Thank you!
Imagine going on an evening beach trip with your beloved ones and a new acquaintance, Andrei, who happens to be a wealth of knowledge about the universe and it’s mysteries. He sets fire to keep you warm, takes professional pictures for you and keeps you entertained with great stories about the arctic, with the fantastic scenery of the northern lights in front of you. To enjoy the experience completely, you need to manage the expectations and be ready to be surprised. He will guide you through it. Very satisfied with the service, would definitely recommend it.
My wife & i booked this tour as we were hoping to see the Northern Lights for the first time so were really looking forward to it. Unfortunately we were advised on the morning of the booking that a storm was forecast for the evening and we would not see anything so we arranged for the following evening instead. Andrei was really great & kept us up to date & informed all the time. Unfortunately the second booking also had to be cancelled due to restrictions on Corona virus that were imposed by the Norwegian government. Andrei refunded our money straight away & was very apologetic. If we go back to Norway we will definitely book with Enjoy The Arctic again due to how they dealt with the situation. Thank you!
My husband and I booked this experience as a smaller northern lights tour, there only ended up being five of us. The weather ended up cooperating at first but clouds rolled in later, we saw the northern lights for a bit and then they dwindled down. It was a beautiful sight and our tour guide was on it always pointing out when he saw lights come and go. He was also great at getting everyone's pictures with the lights. Our guide made us all drinks and hot dogs while we waited to see whether or not to see whether the lights would become visible again. You can use their tripods but I accidentally unscrewed one of the pieces and it fell into the snow and our guide became very upset about it- he was kind of in my face demanding why I unscrewed it and it was purely accidental. The tripod was just different and stiffer from mine at home and other ones I have used before. But had I lost the piece permanently I would have paid for a new tripod. So to anyone else, just be careful lol. I'm so grateful that they let people use their stuff but it really was an accident. Anyway, it was an awesome experience!
I have seen the aurora so many times before in Tromso by now, and I loved the tour and service of "enjoy the arctic".Tamas is a great host and he showed us everything and was able to walk and talk to us through the whole procedure.Lots of pictures.Small group ,we all felt like it was a private tour.Great service, excellent minibus with incredible good and fast wifi :)
I can't think of a way that our experience of the northern lights could be any more perfect. Our guide Horia explained the plan for the nights and managed our expectations during the drive out of Tromso. We understood that seeing the Northern lights wasn't guaranteed. Horia drove us to the location that he thought most likely to get a viewing and he chose well! The northern lights were incredible and very clear I feel privileged to have seen them so clearly and for many hours. Horia took some amazing photos. He is a great photographer and it meant that I didn't need to waste my time taking poor shots with my own camera and I was able to enjoy the views with no distractions. The camp fire was a welcome bit of warmth the hot dogs were cooked quickly and hot coffee was exactly what we needed. My 11 year old daughter got a bit cold and Horia made the mini bus nice and warm so she was able to warm up for as long as she needed. She also had a wonderful evening. I would 100% recommend this experience as the amazing photos taken by talented guide sets this trip apart from all the other tours from Tromso. Thank you Horia, you made mine and my daughter's dream come true!
We booked this tour with ‘ Enjoy the Arctic’ after having read reviews of how they found the Northern Lights when other tours didn’t and they didn’t dissapoint! On Feb 8th, an absolute hopeless, cloudy (multilayers of clouds!) day with zero clear sky or any remote direct sunlight was followed by a slightly better evening with some portions of clear sky but still we did not expect much. We did not have too much hope of seing the Northern Lights because of the clouds spread but we eventually DID, with Tamas as our guide that evening. Tamas literally chased the gaps in the clouds to look for clear sky and in spite a superbright sky, lighted by a full moon we managed to see them in two different places during the chasing trip. They did look a lot different than we expected and they were barely visible with a naked eye but they were still beautiful through the lens of a professional camera. So we do recommend Enjoy the Arctic for this tour- they know what they are doing and they are doing it well!! The lights however, they are somewhere at borderline between myth and reality :)... since they are rarely visible with a naked eye and when they are, they look like a white mist. Below we included some pictures taken with the camera (where night looks like daytime due to supermoon) and one very dark and misty taken with the phone. So don’t expect much, just let yourself surprised and who knows maybe you are lucky to have an intense aurora activity and maybe it looks more electric green than it did for us; don’t follow weather forecasts in advance when planning the trip or the amateur aurora prediction apps’- for this you book the chasing trip and have an experienced guide ;). But if there is one thing you can plan ahead, besides booking the tour in advance as they sell it out quickly- DO plan the trip on a moonless evening 🙃.... and by this I mean plan the trip to Tromso far from a moon phase close to full moon, much less of a... supermoon like we did :)). This way a combination of low clouds or clear, starry and dark evening can create magic in the sky. Thanks, Tamas and Enjoy the Arctic! Greetz from Romania and the Netherlands!
We booked two tours with Enjoy The Artic, Northern Lights and Ice Fishing. We couldn’t ask for anything more, the groups were small, and the guides knowledgeable and personable. Tomas took us fishing on the ice, and it was a great experience, and a most enjoyable afternoon. We also caught a number of fish on a catch-and-release basis. On the day of our Northern Lights tour, Enjoy The Artic called to advise they were not expecting much chance of a sighting and asked if we would we like to move our booking to the following night, which we did. This prediction was confirmed to us by other disappointed tourers the following day. Andre called on the morning of the night tour asking for us to be on stand-by to depart from 1630 (it was dark by 1430) rather than standard 1830 time, as they were expecting early sightings of the lights. We were collected from our accommodation in Tromso and were able to enjoy some magical sightings of the Northern Lights early in the evening, with little activity thereafter. Andre is also a professional photographer and his photos of us far surpassed anything I took. For small personal tours that deliver, we definitely recommend Andre and the team at “Enjoy The Artic”. Patrick & Shalini Melbourne, Australia
We all absolutely loved it .. Tomas a great guide & we luckily got to see lights . Tomas lit a fire & had tea & coffee on hand but keep your cup ha !!! In the coldest I’ve ever known Tomas cooked us sausages & kept us up to date . This man loves what he does & doesn’t give up . I’m so glad we met Tomas . Great laughter .
We were lucky enough to score Horia as our tour guide. We had a relatively low probability of seeing the Northern Lights and he moved the time of the tour to accomodate the weather, giving us a greater chance of viewing the elusive lights. He made an effort to choose a location with minimal wind to ensure our comfort, taking into consideration the best location to view the lights and how said location would photograph. Whilst we were fortunate enough to witness the Northern Lights on our first night, the vast majority of our tour consisted of individuals who had previously used other tour companies and had been unable to see the lights. Within an hour of leaving Tromsø we were fortunate enough to witness a spectacular display and all were thankful that we booked with Enjoy the Arctic. I have attached some stunning photographs taken by Horia on the night. Highly recommend!
It was a great experience for me to see the northern lights. The tour was excellent, the guide, Tamás was very proffessional, shared with us a lot of interesting and usesful information about the aurora borealis. We spent wonderful 6 hours in nature, the northern lights were rather strong, we had drinks anf food offered by the company. I sincerely recommend it to book this tour!
The tour was excellent, despite not seeing the aurora that clear, we enjoyed the overall experience. Our tour guide, Andrei was very informative and fun. We had the best time!
I booked this tour a few weeks ago for my children and I. I dreamt to see northern lights since I was a child and hoped very much to finally realise this dream with my children. When the much awaited day came, the weather was so terrible that our guide Hario told us it would maybe be better to cancel the tour. We thought about it a few minutes but decided to try it anyway. Hario drove us through wind and snow till Finland, where we finally found a small clearer spot. He knew exactly where he could try and how the landscape and conditions had to be in order that we could have a little chance... and then, the aurora was there! Not extremely bright but very beautiful. We took some nice pictures and then the sky really cleared up and we could enjoy the aurora and a fabulous sky with millions of stars. It was amazing!! On the way there we could see some other busses that gave up, but we had the chance to have a very committed, passionate and experienced guide who allowed us to live this unforgettable experience. On the way back we found the snow and the wind again... and also a very icy rain, but Hario drove us safely back. The day after we receive per mail the wonderful picture. I usually don't write comments on Internet, but this time I felt I really have to say how fantastic it was. Before booking the tour I had read all the great comments and was doubtful how it was possible to have only positive reviews but now I understand. If you have the opportunity to book with Enjoy the Arctic, don't miss it!
Absolutely amazing time, couldn’t recommend more! Thomas was brilliant, he was dedicated to finding the lights and giving us the best experience. The van is so well prepared with everything you could need. There was a great veggie option and the tea tasted amazing. I’m so glad I picked this tour.
We had an amazing trip! The guide was so open and did Everything he could to make everybody happy. Drove out of the city center and stopped nearby the shore. The guide made the bonfire and cooked sausages for us (we could eat as much as we wanted!) He also set up his camera equipment and waited for the light to appear. Luckily it did! You could ask for as many pictures you wanted and he emailed them only 2 days after. They turned out amazing! In the meanwhile the guide was checking the predictions and gave us so much information about the northern lights. We could also use boots and thermal suits if we wanted this, which was so nice. It was just a small group of 6. This makes the tour so much more personal and valuable! Thanks again for this once in a lifetime experience! Greatings from Holland!
You have to know that it is not always possible to see the Northern Lights as it is in photos. Therefore, this is the right address you should book and enjoy the amazing nature of Norway. Let you be the one who gonna say yesss I got the lights with perfect view as I did. Strongly recommended and be sure 100% that you gonna have all activities which tour description promise you. Enjoy!!!
I’d previously seen the Northern Lights in Iceland, however nothing compares to the experience on the small group excursion with Enjoy the Arctic in Tromso. Within 20 minutes of our pickup our guide had found an excellent location on the side of a fjord to enjoy the evening’s extravagancy. Thermal suits were provided. A bonfire was soon established (followed by a BBQ, including vegetarian option – advise them beforehand). And for 4 hours we experienced the Northern Lights (~KP2-2.5 but surprisingly active) non-stop. With the location on the fjord coastline this provided a great backdrop for photographs. And for any photography tips, our guide was on hand to assist. A nice added touch were a few (awesome) photos taken by the guide, promptly emailed the following day.
We really enjoyed our tour with andrei. He’s such a nice, easy going guide, it made the trip all the more enjoyable. My husband and I went on two different nights and andrei was able to locate the lights both nights, we were very fortunate. Really good email response with andrei and be always answered any questions I had and was quick to respond.
We were in Tromso early this year, we had wonderful tours with "enjoy the arctic", two for northern lights and one for Fjord. We can recall clearly the amazing experience. Andrei and his colleague are professional, passionate and hard workers. No matter it was a bad day due to the weather or a good day, they are on top of things, making an effort to find the best spots. They are good photographers, well equipped for taking northern light photos, and responsible tour guides. On the night with Andrei for northern light, his used his camera grasped the best moments of the lights, he's running around taking good pictures for each of us, making camp fire, cooking food, etc... We appreciate for their dedication and expertise which made our trip memorable. We would recommend them to anyone who wants to see northern light in this area.
This evening was the highlight of our stay in Tromso. Andrei is an excellent guide, professional, very friendly, eager to find the best place to see the northern light. We have seen a fantastic light performance, it was a life-term experience. We enjoyed the warm thermo-suits offered by Andrei, the nice evening snack at the fire and the whole atmosphere of the trip. We decided to return some day and will definitely choose this company for this trip (and also for the fjord tour which was again amazing with them).
We've been on several northern lights tours with Andrei and had a fantastic evening every time. He's professional, knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and although there is never a gurantee that you'll see the lights, he goes out of his way to do his best to find them during the tour using online resources for the best predictions. He's very helpful in giving advice on the best approach to photographing the lights, he lends you a tripod and warm clothes, and his barbecues in the snow are legendary! It's great to be able to take your boots off and warm your feet by the fire when the temperature around you gets down to -24C! He's a great guy and we wouldn't wish to go with any other company. Going out in a small group means you get personal service from Andrei. I wish we could go with him on his guided tours to Patagonia and Trannsylvania but we'll definitely be going out with him on a northern lights tour with him again next year.
I had read great recommendations about enjoy the artic and Andrei and confirmed them all. Andrei, besides knowing a lot about photography, and helping everyone to prepare their cameras, is extremely worried that everyone is comfortable and enjoying the experience. I´ll be back next year for sure!
Andrei was a nice, reactive and professional guide ! The northern lights started when he picked us up so he quickly found a nice place near to Tromsø wtih many stops to enjoy them. He gave us many explanations about the northern lights and such nice photos. When we reached a good spot, he gave us thermal suits, he prepared a campfire with warm food/drinks to appreciate the northern lights and to get to know each other without getting cold :) Thank you very much Andrei and Enjoy the arctic !
We booked with Andrei for the northern lights tour for my husbands 60th birthday - he was highly recommended and did not disappoint. We booked for the actual night of my husbands birthday and although the weather forecast was very mixed - we did actually see the lights in a beautiful spot (albeit briefly before a snowstorm arrived) which made the birthday such a memorable experience. We cannot recommend Andrei highly enough, from the knowledge of the lights, and predicting the location for the best chance to see the lights, the help with the photography and the sausages around the homemade fire - he was exceptional. Realising it was such a special occasion for us we felt he wanted to see the lights just as much as we did.
We were very lucky the nothern lights were that strong when we went on the tour. But before the show began Andrei took very good care of us! He made sure everyone was okay, he has a lot of knowledge and afterwards he sent us the most beautiful pictures! We liked it very much that Andrei was just as happy as we when the lights appeared! he is a reliable guide, we strongly recommend enjoy the arctic!!
We went to Tromso in December, and had a tour to see the Northern Lights with Enjoy The Arctic. If there is one thing no to be missed in Tromso, it is the tour with Enjoy the Arctic ! Andrei is really nice and attentive, and has so many knowledge to share on northernlights, environment and photgraphy. He takes very beautiful pictures and sends them quickly ! If we could have we would have booked another tour with Enjoy The Arctic, but the other evenings were already full. Probably our best memory of Tromso !
This was a wonderful experience. We joined this tour yesterday, January 26th 2019. Andrei, our guide, was so knoweledgable about the Auroras you could listen to him forever. It is so refreshing to take a tour with a professional who loves his job and is passionate about astronomy and nature. It was a real treat. We waited for the lights to appear while enjoying a nice conversation around a bonfire, followed by delicious sausages bbq'ed to perfection on a mini grill, (he even brought us veggie sausages),all the while enjoying the gorgeous clear sky, what else can you ask for? Yes, the northern lights, which made a magnificent appearance an hour and so after our arrival. Andrei took amazing pictures that he shared with us today. Keep in mind that seeing the lights depends pretty much on weather conditions and seasons, it is not 100% guanranteed, but it helps to have a good guide to make the evening worth your while. Highly recommended!
This is such a great experience for us in Tromso with Andrei during the Christmas time. Andrei brought us a lot of happiness and knowledge about the northern light. And he did prepare a lot during the journey as we forgot to bring the tripod to capture the fantastic lights. Andrei had spare of it which could share with us. Thank you so much for guiding us how taking the lights by using the camera. Though the weather is cold, we have campfire and teas with hotdogs during the lights to warm up. Finally we saw the fantastic lights and had an unforgettable memory.
We did a Northern lights tour with Andrei during the last week of december. We already had prior contact about what camera equipment would be suited etc, in which Andrei was very helpfull. The tour was really good, even though the Northern lights were very weak that night. The location was beautiful, the temperatures were around a comfortable -18 (but with the thermal suits and the bonfire just fine!). We did see some activity but in my opinion I still havent seen the northern lights yet. However, we will visit Tromso again and will definitely book a tour with Enjoy the Arctic again. The overall vibe, the information that the guide provides during the evening and the beautiful locations make it worth your while, even though the northern ligths might not be visible during the tour. I can highly recommend this tour to everyone that wants to chase the Northern lights around Tromso, in a small group (max. 8) with a professional photographer and guide!
We hoped to gain both a sight of and a better understanding of the Northern Lights and Andrei was just the most amazing guide. Easy to find the pick up, just 8 of us and Andrei with his knowledge of the lights and his photographic skills ensured that we came away knowing that we had experienced something special. On top of this his energy throughout the evening: fire making, cooking, sharing stories and taking shots for us to take away ensured that we could not fault this tour. Thank you Andrei - it was fun and a truly special evening.
