This is one of the best tours I have ever enjoyed. The trip and the guides were excellent. The food was excellent

Itinerary
We invite you to our Aurora Camp, where our professional guides will host you for the evening. Above our center, located 30 minutes away from Tromsø and the city lights, the night sky is dark and well-suited for Northern Lights watching. While you wait for the lights to appear, your guide will give you some insight into the natural phenomenon Aurora Borealis. You can also cuddle with our 200 huskies and their puppies and learn about the dog sled racing, breeding, and animal welfare on a guided tour of our kennel. Our thermal suits and boots will keep you warm in the Arctic winter night! In our cozy Gamme-hut, dinner will be served around an open fire. Try Bacalao, a traditional Norwegian fish dish with Portuguese roots made from regional produce (vegetarian option is available upon preliminary request), and a piece of our signature chocolate cake. While you eat, your guide will keep a close eye on the sky and inform you about any Aurora activity! After dinner, there is time to watch the Northern Lights, take pictures, and say goodbye to the dogs before we head back to Tromsø. This tour does NOT include dog sledding and is NOT a Northern Lights chace.

Short coach ride from Tromso and we were out in the country, away from electric lights, under the stars. First we met the Alaskan Huskies and puppies. They were very friendly and loved being petted. Then we moved inside for a delicious and typical Norwegian fish stew followed by chocolate cake. As we were finishing eating, our guide announced that the aurora was visible. We had a fantastic Northern Lights display thanks to a very active aurora, clear skies and no moon. Just perfect! Finally, there was toasted marshmallows around a bonfire. During the evening our guide was informative on the dogs, their use in long-distance sled racing, the Northern Lights and the creation of the aurora.
We had so much fun on this tour! The guides were very informative and attentive. We really enjoyed learning about the dogs and getting to spend a lot of time with them. The dogs are very friendly and really enjoy getting pets. The dinner was great followed by a fire and marshmallows. We did not see the northern lights but would absolutely do the tour again even without them. The whole family had a blast!
Joined this tour with my friends but was not really for me. It made me sad personally to see the dogs in small wooden boxes chained to the sides, not to say they don’t look taken care of because they absolutely do. Personally I don’t love the tourism aspect of sled rides either, but nothing to do with this facility. Our guides were very nice and insightful on the sled dog racing. The soup was good. We did happen to see the northern lights briefly while with the dogs and they turned off the lights to help us see. The slide hill was my favorite honestly. Appreciated the supplied suite so my clothes did not get as dirty.
Excellent experience - great aurora views, delicious soup , fun dog sledding and welcoming team & dogs. Love it so much !
It was so incredible visit a husky camp and petting several friendly dog. We are so lucky because we can see beautiful northern Lights. Really beautiful experience cooking and eating marshmallow in front of the fire and hearing about northern Lights by our guide.
The Alaskan Huskies are not the more familiar Siberian species but are friendly and eager to share their space with you. We met/petted over a dozen of them including some young pups. The Aurora was spectacular from the huskies’ kennel area so no need to drive an hour or two in search of the northern lights.
This experience was absolutely incredible! We cuddled with the adorable huskies, had a delicious meal, sledged down a hill before finishing the night seeing The Northern Lights with marshmallows! I would recommend this experience to absolutely anyone.
This was an excellent trip! Travelled by coach and brought back again , this was easy and well organised. The dogs were lovely, really friendly. We were given traditional food which was delicious and sat in a warm cosy hut with an open fire. Unfortunately we didn't get to see the Aurora, but it can't be guaranteed . However, it snowed so much it was magical and we got to sleigh down a snowy hill which was so much fun!
This was our favorite activity on our Tromso trip. It exceeded expectations. I would recommend it to everyone. Not only did we get all of the experience as described when we purchased the ticket, the staff at the husky camp were professional and friendly, answered many questions we had about the dogs, and the food served was delicious.
This was an amazing tour. They made us feel so welcome. The entire tour was extremely well-organized, and there was no confusion. The meal was amazing and exceeded our expectations. The employees were extremely knowledgeable and eager to answer any questions we had. Dogs were so cute. We even got the chance to see the northern lights. They even organized s'mores by the fire for us. We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone.
Had a great time here today . Zoe our guide was excellent , feeding us with lots of information, answering our questions etc . She was great . My family thoroughly enjoyed seeing the dogs and having loves with them . The soup was extremely tasty (I had 3 bowls as they could see my greedy belly grumbling ). Amazing historical food to share with great people . Chat around the fire was a lovely finish with toasting marshmallows . Was fortunate to have some great shows of the lights too. . Very well run place with great people . Would highly recommend
Incredible experience! Tour guide was great, food was great, cosy fire and marshmallows, great value for money and the northern lights were at their best! Also, LOVED the dogs ! Especially Batman and Glo !
Had a lovely evening, the guides were very informative about the Huskys and the Northen lights. We were lucky enough to see them just for a few minutes. But overall a very enjoyable evening!
This tour is just a tour to visit the dog kennels. Northern lights isn't really part of it. The dogs are nice but by night time they are tired so most are in their kennel. Only around 10 or so dogs were out with around 40 people. Visit the puppies but it's very brief. The best bit was the meal. Afterwards a strange talk is given about the northern lights whilst toasting marshmallows or rolling down a hill as was said? This tour was the most underwhelming tour I had in Tromso. If you want to see the dogs, book a husky sled tour instead.
Friendly enthusiastic staff. We got to spend lots of time spent with the dogs and puppies. Excellent food & hospitality.
We took the bus to a group of houses where we changed into one of their snowsuits. They didn’t smell good. I had done a tour of the Northern Lights before so I expected this would be a chase of the lights maybe accompanied by one or two dogs. It says “husky visit”, right? No, you are taken to a dog compound and it’s not until you get around the dogs and they start pooping and peeing all over their houses that you realize you need to be careful where you step….. we ended up staying there for what felt like an hour and then they took us to the puppies and then took us to eat soup which was actually really good along with chocolate cake and then we went out by the fire, which was lovely to have marshmallows over a fire, and in their defense, there were no northern lights because it was bad weather that night. But one thing I’ve learned chasing the northern lights is that if you’re only going to go to one fixed location your probability of seeing the northern lights is very low because if you look at the northern lights app, it will tell you where they’re expected to be and statistically the odds of them always being at this one place is very little to none so this really shouldn’t be anything about Northern lights. The title should be “dog compound visit with soup and fire” that’s really what it’s about. It’s not about the northern lights at all really in my opinion. Nice experience but description doesn’t adequately describe the real experience.
Amazing experience! Such a unique experience, friendly staff, lovely dogs and just an amazing set up! Don’t be put off by the price as it’s 100% worth it, and the staff are so passionate about the huskies and looking after them!
Great staff at Husky location. Really friendly and knowledgeable about the dogs and the Nordic life. Food was excellent. Travel to and from the location was comfortable and on time. Great value trip
This was an amazing experience from start to finish. We saw the Northern Lights immediately, which was an absolute bonus. Then they took us in to pet ALL the dogs. The handlers are all so knowledgeable and taught you all about them. Next we had a lovely dinner (vegetarian option was so good). Finally we went out by a campfire to admire the lights and the guides gave a talk about them as well. Obviously, the northern lights aren’t a guarantee, but this would have been worth it without them.
Absolute must do. We were lucky to see the Northern Lights! Getting to play with the dogs under the Lights was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had.
As part of an escorted tour we visited here on two consecutive nights. The first night was an awesome visit to meet the Huskies and their puppies. The staff were really friendly, particularly Nadine. The sledding in the snow was truly brilliant and a real wow experience. Our musher was extremely friendly and informative. Hot juice drinks afterwards were welcome. Outer clothing and boots were also appreciated. The second night was also to meet Huskies but primarily to see the Northern Lights. We were fortunate enough to see the Aurora. An absolute wow again. Fish soup, focaccia bread and chocolate cake followed by toasted marshmallows was gorgeous. An absolute must do!!
Kids had great time visiting the huskies. Also did marshmallows around campfire and sledding down a hill, which was a highlight. Went for a walk through trees, idyllic. daughter loved the puppies. Didn’t see northern lights but it was a snowy, cloudy night. Equipment was great (snowsuits and boots provided) and well organised.
A really magical evening, spent a lot of time meeting the husky’s, admiring the views (and incredible northern lights!) great views and then finishing off with marshmallow toasting
We visited the centre at 7pm with a view to seeing the Northern lights. Upon arrival we were met by the fantastic team there who let's us play with the working husky dogs until the first sight occurred. As soon as that happened the lights were turned off and we able to enjoy and awesome 60 minute light show. We were so lucky as of course there is no guarantee that the Northern lights will be seen, but we had a spectacular show. After that we were treated to hot drinks and a delicious local delicacy. A fish stew. Following that we moved the viewing terrace when we ate marshmallows over an open fire. Sadly the lights did not return but we had a superb evening and one we will.never forget.
Had a wonderful visit with the Alaskan husky dogs and a fantastic visit from the northern lights! Vera and Roberto were very helpful with the dogs and the dinner and the accommodations. Linda and Slavomir were particularly helpful making pictures during the aurora borealis light show, and afterwards, too. The next day, we did self sledding with the husky dogs and this was fantastic and such a treat. The dogs are so comfortable being around humans and they sure do pull that sled well! Overall, a fantastic visit to the Tromsø wilderness center. Highly recommend.
We had the most amazing experience. We were really lucky as the sky was clear so we could see the Northern Lights in all their glory. We also very much enjoyed cuddly the huskys. The camp fire was wonderful. All in all a great trip enjoyed by all.
Even though it was cloudy and we didn't get to see the Aurora, it was still a great trip. Good explanation of how they breed, train, work with and look after the Alaskan huskies and why. Very lovely animals who were excited and friendly. Delicious meal and hot drinks followed by watching on the terrace with fires, reindeer skins, cookies and marshmallows, and learned about the Aurora. You can't help the weather.
Very well organised, lovely staff. Dogs are super cute and friendly. The food was delicious. Bonus of seeing the northern lights which is obviously not guaranteed but the location meant very little light pollution and a truly spectacular evening.
Very pleasant visit to meet the huskies and the extremely playful pups. Hosts were great serving a delicious traditional soup. Topped off with view of the northern lights by a fire.
Such a fun time! Our guide was really informative and went out of her way to make sure everyone had a lovely time. The dogs are obviously very loved and well cared for. We had plenty of time to cuddle with both the adults and puppies, were given plenty of food and had an unreal view of the northern lights! Perfect for animal lovers!
Absolutely amazing. Such a fun time with the huskies and watching the northern lights at the same time. Transportation easy and good. 10/10 recommend
We had a fantastic time. We had lots of free time to meet the dogs and puppies prior to the sledding. We also had a snow shoe hike across the wilderness and enjoyed hot beverages and cookies. Our guide Slavo was incredible. He had unlimited information about the northern lights and dogs at the facility. He was very interesting and clearly passionate about the experience which really made it magical. Overall the whole experience was very well organised and facilities clean and pleasant. The food and drink was plentiful and delicious and staff extremely helpful and friendly. We would definitely visit the facility again in the future.
Honestly the dogs are better than the northern lights. They told us all about how they care for their dogs and make sure they have the best lives they can. And of course we got free time to hang out with the dogs!
This was so much better than I expected. The dogs are fantastic fun and warm the heart. The staff are so passionate and proper about what they do that its lovely to see and experience. The wellfare of the dogs is their upmost concern and they work with the personality of each dog. The food and cabin fire dining were great. And the camp fire talk on the Northern lights inspired us to book - despite the weather reports - And we saw them the next day. But on the night of our visit here if the skies were clear - we would have seen them.
I enjoyed this visit even if the huskies were chained. They look very well looked after, and were eager to see us. They wanted to be stroked and loved the attention. You have the choice to get some overalls there. I would advise people to get those as you are going to be licked, rubbed against, jumped on, etc., by the dogs. We learned a lot of cool facts about Alaskan huskies, such as how they are chosen to push a sled, what their diet is, and that they are put up for adoption once they reach a certain age to that they can retire in a warm and cozy Norwegian house. The cod soup was nice, although a bit spicy for me. It reminded me of Portuguese caldeirada. You also get bread with the soup, and a dessert (chocolate cake). Sadly, there was no Northern Lights the evening I visited. It was very slippery on the yard were the dogs were, so I would recommend briging crampons, but I guess it depends on the weather.
A fabulous activity for dog-lovers. Plenty of time to explore the dog yard at your leisure, with 100+ dogs to meet and fuss. The dogs appear to be relaxed and genuinely enjoy the experience too, with each having the option for quiet time in their kennel, or play with visitors on the yard. Northern lights were the icing on the cake, if you're lucky enough to have clear skies and solar activity whilst there, then this is a brilliant dark location to see them, without venturing too far from Tromsø. Food and drink was also delicious, topped off by campfire and marshmallows. Also... a huge thank you to Tom (one of the staff there) for helping my now fiancée capture images of the moment he got down on one knee, amongst the huskies and under the Northern Lights!!!
I went mostly for my kids who really love dogs as we couldn't do the dog sleighing. They had a great time! The dogs are super sociable. The dinner (cod fish stew) was really nice and we even saw a mild aurora (the weather wasn't on our side). The kids had a great time slidding down the snowy slopes with mattress sledges!
Lovely trip - even though we did not see the northern lights, meeting the Huskeys was great - my 13 yr old daughter loved that, and dinner/campfire was nice touch as well at the tobogan rides!
Loved the huskies!! Unfortunately didn’t get to see the northern lights, but obviously that’s Mother Natures fault. Had fun learning about mushing and the overall experience.
The husky dogs are gorgeous. I cuddled lots of them! The location is about 30 mins from the centre and it is possible to stay overnight there. It's also a good location to see Northern Lights. It was too cloudy on this night but I didn't mind as I'd seen them the night before. We watched a 10 min film about dog sledding and then we got to meet the dogs. The veggie meal option was couscous and I had hot chocolate to drink. Overall, a very nice experience.
Thoroughly enjoyed this authentic Norwegian experience. The staff were very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The huskies were super excited to see us and loved the attention. Food was excellent! Highly recommend.
If you are an avid dog lover, this is an experience you must have. The aurora borealis was an additional bonus. This is an activity that should not be missed.
This place is awesome and so is the staff! Took our family of 3, and had a great time. Highly recommend, even for families with little ones. If you have a child that needs a car seat, bring it with you though as the bus will need it.
Excellent organization, activity matches description, competent/engaged staff, cute dogs, good food, Aurora sighting.
We loved our time on this trip, as we were so lucky to see the northern lights within 15 minutes of arriving!! They turned off the yard lights so we could see them clearer, it was great. All the people we met working there was lovely, the lady showing us around was so nice and knowledgeable. The dogs was amazing, we got to spend loads of time with them, give them loads of rubs, they looks really well cared for and healthy. The food we were given was delicious, and it was so cosy enjoying it inside after being outside for ages with the dogs. There was a chance to slide down some snow and have some smores too which was fun and unexpected. If you love dogs and just want to spend them with them, it is a great tour to do that. It is a very relaxed tour, do things as your own pace, no rushing. The bus pick up and drop off was so easy too.
It was informative and fun It was freezing so we were given warm clothing Plenty of time with the puppies and older dogs Food and hosts were just gorgeous
My wife pet 100 dogs, we saw the Northern Lights, and the food was good, we couldn’t have asked for much more. If you or your spouse loves dogs, this is a must.
Excellent trip, very friendly people, lots of information about the dogs and got to cuddle the dogs and some puppies, really enjoyed the food in the tent plus we saw the northern lights, a must for dog lovers.
Absolutely wonderful experience for any dog lover! So many dogs, it's almost impossible to visit them all! All of the staff were clearly devoted to these animals and provided great information about them. When we found out they allow people to spend the night there, we were SO bummed we didn't realize that was an option when we booked! And the food was wonderful! Could not recommend more highly!
