The whole trip was a waste of time- energy-money and sleep It was a bus ride of 6 hrs with a break of 2 hrs No lights were seen though the guide kept on fooling people about the unseen lights It was a big con I recommend no one should ever take these trips They are overrated- overpriced and an seer waste

Our guide was absolutely excellent! He was friendly, kind, attentive, and extremely respectful throughout the entire excursion. He explained in great detail the science behind the Northern Lights, including what causes them and how they occur, which made the experience even more fascinating. He pursued the Northern Lights with great enthusiasm and determination, making every effort to give us the best possible experience. His passion and dedication were evident throughout the evening. The excursion was a tremendous success. We were all absolutely euphoric and deeply grateful for his hard work and commitment. Thanks to him, it was a truly memorable and unforgettable experience. It was an absolutely stunning tour! We were lucky to have clear skies and very high activity, so we didn't have to go far. Tomas chose great locations for photography (one with a mountain scenery, and one with a bridge), and also explained the background of northern lights and how to take pictures.

This is an experience of a lifetime. The fee is all worth and we were able to see northern lights throughout the night. We were satisfied with the length of time of the whole trip. The atmosphere is perfect for viewing/photography and it was on a vast frozen valley near a river. We were a bus full and the whole area where we stopped has a large area where everyone can roam around freely. Two thumbs up for the staff they were so helpful and taught us a few tricks to photograph aurora borealis and they took excellent photo of us. This trip is best for chasing the northern lights and we highly recommend.

Was an absolutely amazing adventure. Found a place with guide straight away and the lights were on top form that night. Highly recommend checking the aurora apps before booking to avoid disappointment as not guides fault of can't see the night u go. We were very lucky to see them four nights on the trot

I know seeing the lights is very much a matter of luck and we were so lucky. We have done two tours in the past and this was specrtacular. Tomas was our guide and he was very helpful in taking photos, unfortunately for us our phones are quite old and not brilliant but we mostly just focused on enjoying the experience, which was fantastic, the whiole sky was alive with lights and we saw dancing lights for the first time. Were given hot chocolate and biscuits and a fire was set up. It was -23 at one point so definitely the coldest part of our holiday so go well prepared. The only downside was we thought we had booked a coach so if it gets too cold we could get inside nd warm up but on arrival were told there were not enough people so it was going to be a minibus. As that means many hours without any toilet facilities I asked if i coud quickly use the toilet before we set off. The receptionist told me no, I had to go across to the bus station across the road. I did this but got there to find you have to pay and I did not have any money or a card with me so rushed back to avoid delaying the tour. Luckily Tomas then asked if anyone wanted to use the toilet and several hands went up. He then was happy for us to use the office toilet. I feel the receptionist could have been a lot more helpful. Hence 4 stars not 5.

if your intention is as a amateur photographer to do this tour so u can get your own photos. this is not for you company is only interested in taking their own photos so they can make more money. was a very disappointing experience. Big tour bus so restricted in places they can go.

The guides took all the efforts to locate a suitable place to view the northern lights since it was cloudy and raining in Tromso.. they even helped me in taking photos of aurora from my mobile which i found it to be a very thoughtful gesture of the guide as because of this help I CLD click many good pics of the NL.

Guide was very good and took beautiful photos. I learned a lot during the tour from Thomas. Take as many photos as time allows. You can choose afterwards whether you want them or not and you get up to 50% discount the more photos you buy.

Waste of time really. You do just as well on the public bus going to Tromso’s southerly point. Spent hours in a snow storm where really they should have cancelled it!! But this meant them refunding us!!!!

I would strongly discourage anyone considering this tour company. As part of their rules, we weren’t allowed to use our own torch lights, making it impossible to capture our own pictures and were told that we could purchase pictures from the guide instead. However, after the tour, all other participants’ pictures were on their site except ours despite the guide showing us the pictures immediately after taking them. The disappointing response we received from the tour company via email was simply that they could not retrieve it. It’s hard not to think that this is deliberate, especially since we had two photos taken and sadly this was supposed to be the highlight of our honeymoon.

At the beginning of the tour, our guide told us that the weather was quite challenging and the chances of seeing the Northern Lights were uncertain. We set off with moderate expectations, and for a long time there were only faint signs in the sky. But in the end, we were rewarded with a breathtaking display — dancing lights with shades of pink (which, as we learned, is very rare), and even blue lights, which are said to be extremely rare! Our guide was absolutely wonderful — professional, kind, and incredibly helpful. She took beautiful photos of everyone, including our planned engagement under the Northern Lights, which made the evening truly magical. We also appreciated being able to warm up in the cozy bus and enjoy the hot chocolate and cookies she offered us. She shared lots of interesting facts about the aurora and the surrounding nature. Overall, it was an amazing experience that we’ll remember for the rest of our lives. Highly recommended!

We had an incredible night, the aurora was very strong and the sky was completely clear. We managed to enjoy the great show of lights (all colours and the dancing) for well over two hours...great guide and great photos taken by him. I can only recommend it, adding that one must have luck and find the right conditions to have this sort of experience

The itinerary was so bad, we didn’t even see the Northern Lights at all! That’s the whole reason we went, and it was a total letdown. We sat in the car waiting for like 2-3 hours, and the driver was on his phone the whole time. The noise was nonstop, and it made the night absolutely terrible—so annoying. And the guide? Ugh, they just kept repeating stuff we already knew, and their voice was way too loud. Hearing the same thing over and over was super uncomfortable, no lie. Save your money and time—do NOT book this tour. It’s not worth it at all!

We joined the Northern Lights chase on October 19th and although the weather looked very bad, we ended up witnessing an incredible show, all thanks to the amazing team at NorthernShots. Our driver drove for hours through snow and difficult roads with great skill and patience, and our guide Milvia was simply outstanding: professional, kind, knowledgeable, and above all, truly passionate about her work. She never gave up chasing clear skies, stopping at three different locations and even taking us across the border into Finland in search of better conditions. She refused to settle until the aurora finally exploded in a breathtaking display, even though it meant going well beyond the planned duration of the tour. The photos taken during the evening are absolutely stunning and we’ll treasure them forever. The vendor did their best to let us see northern lights as we hit a heavy raining night. Finally at Finland border, we caught a partial aurora show through some patchy openings of heavy clouds.

Amazing experience! Very emotional! Also I got help in spanish and the guides and assistents were very nice and funny! The whole trip was too much excitment and despite the weather we drove differents spots so we were able to watch the northern lights. Everybody clapped and cry! It was really emotional ! I will do it again! Thousands times!

Tomas was our guide, and he was fantastic! Although I don’t recall the names of our driver and assistant, they both did an excellent job as well. The drive was absolutely stunning, especially with the perfect sunset views as we headed towards the Finnish border. After arriving at our spot, we waited just 10-15 minutes before the Northern Lights began their mesmerizing dance. Despite the low KP forecast and initially slim chances, within 30 minutes the sky exploded with brilliant colors it was truly breathtaking! Tomas provided everyone with helpful photography instructions and excellent tips, even helping my husband and me set up our camera to capture the moment perfectly. We also enjoyed delicious hot chocolate and cookies, which made the evening even more special. Highly recommend this tour!

From start to finish Tomas and his colleagues were excellent,and gave you all the information needed on the long trip into Finland to see the Northern lights from how to take your photos and what settings to use ,also what all the numbers mean on the Northern lights app and chances of us seeing them in April.The hit chocolate and cookies were most welcome as it was absolutely freezing. They charge about £15 for photos if they take them of you with the Lights in your background, when ch isn't OTT I guess . Would I use them again definitely

This is the best tour group we booked to see the northern lights. Tomas helped us on how we can get the best shots with our phone. Not only that he was a professional photographer as well who took great shots of us with the dancing lady. We were in a big bus with Phineas at the helm ensuring we get to our destination safely. And when we reached the perfect spot, it was mesmerising! We were treated to a most fantastic show on earth for several minutes! It was magical!! After, Suzie treated us to some hot chocolate and cookies for a perfect ending. We were so happy we made the right decision to join this tour company. We had an incredible experience on our Northern Lights tour with Northern Shots! Fortunately, their expert decision to head close to the Finnish border, about two hours from Tromsø, paid off with a truly spectacular light show! Marek and Tomas also gave us great tips on how to photograph the lights, including how to make sure you appear in the shot—simply by briefly illuminating yourself during the longer exposure. I went on 2 aurora tours with Northern Shots, on consecutive nights. Both nights the guides went out of their way to find clear skies. Both nights the auroras were far beyond spectacular. I highly recommend this company to anyone who wants to see the Northern Lights. I have dozens of great photos, it was hard to choose which ones to post.

Our guides were Marek, Barbara, Tomas and our driver was Erick’s.they were all very wonderful and very knowledgeable, they really tried their best to find the northern lights and made sure that we were satisfied with the experience. I would definitely recommend this group to friends and family.

We unfortunately had our tour cancelled an hour before setting out. Very frustrating and booked via Tripadvisor (Get your guide). Refund due. We booked with Northern shots locally in Tromso the following night and the Aurora was a no show. Travelling in non stop blizzards to Finnish border and back, It's not that rare apparently. Fortunately they offer 50% discount on the next trip you book. So we went the next night, and we were not disappointed. The light show was fantastic at the Finnish border. Northern shots take your photo if you want together with super digital ones on their website. We have seen ours, they're great. Special memories. The tour guide Barbara was exceptional. Friendly very knowledgeable, and nothing too much trouble. We had hot chocolate and cookies on a Finnish snow desert watching the Aurora, magical.

A truly unique experience, Barbara was an excellent guide extremely committed and very very ,nice. She didn´t gave up looking for the right place for and the perfect conditions to see the Aurora , until she found it just across the border IN FINLAND !!! The professional photographer, that came with us was also, very good at teaching and helping with the photos and also with the delicious hot Chocolate & cookies, It was a MAGICAL NIGHT under the skies of Finland and the magnificent Aurora´s, that this Portuguese Family from Lisbon will keep in its memories.

I joined this Northern Lights tour on Monday, March 3rd, and Tuesday, March 4th. The first night, the weather was terrible, but the team put in an incredible effort to find clear skies. They managed to get partial clearings, but unfortunately, we didn’t see any auroras. However, they offered me a 50% discount for the next night, which was a fantastic gesture. On Tuesday, the forecast was much better. We drove north for only a short time before spotting auroras on the way! When we reached our final destination, the sky cleared completely, and the show was absolutely breathtaking. The auroras were strong, vivid, and lasted a long time—an unforgettable experience! The guides also provided excellent explanations on how to adjust camera or phone settings for the best photos. They even took professional pictures for us. Additionally, they shared insights on how to read aurora forecasts and what factors truly matter when predicting them. I had done another Northern Lights tour with a different company before, but this one was by far the best—and for half the price! Highly recommended!

We stopped in different points to see the northen lights. Tour guides always tried to find the best places to see the auroras since the itinerary can be changed if it is needed. They are also available to take you pictures with the northenlights or to help with your camera to take your own ones. Very recommendable.

Barbara was great with her pre-arrival explanations of what we were hopefully going to see, how to adjust our cameras to capture it and a brief description of the science of the northern lights. Upon arrival we were presented with the lights happening. The show went on for 2.5 hours and was absolutely SPECTACULAR!!! A great trip.

What an amazing night. We drove all the way into Finland, arriving by around 10 or 10:15p. Roughly 30-40 minutes after we arrived, the Northern Lights started to peek out. We were just about to move to a new location with the lights exploded and we all jumped into action to take photos. We were not back into Tromso until 2:00a but it was 100000% worth it for the experience of a lifetime. So much gratitude to our wonderful and very patient guides. Also, our bus driver deserves big applause - driving us in snow and icy conditions for roughly 6 hours. Amazing company and overall fabulous experience worth every penny.

It's cold, so layer with thermals and good boots. We were very lucky - clear sky and long and impressive show. Look up how to photograph auroras before you start the trip!
