It was incredible. The guide was super interesting, telling us stories all the time, we learnt a lot and both him and the driver really put a big effort chasing the Northern Lights until we saw the real show. It was insane. I highly recommend the tour and Yago as a guide.

Itinerary
First, your guide scouts for the place with the clearest sky, using the latest cloud and aurora forecasts: on the coast, by the fjords, in the valleys inland or across the border in Finland. There you wait for the aurora while your guide serves hot chocolate, tea or coffee and cookies and helps you with your camera settings. When the northern lights appear, your guide takes photos of you under them.

Giacomo was excellent. He listened and helped each one of us, explained about the stars and was very knowledgeable. Excellent tour would definitely recommend. The pictures are beautiful too. Thank you
A highlight of our trip. The guide was very experienced and informative as well as being attentive to everyone’s needs. He was determined to get the best experience for all and achieved that through visiting three sites. It was an exhilarating evening/night and well worth it.
Great experience. Highly recommend. Will do it again. Awesome guide.
It snowed heavily today. We drove the whole time and returned to Tromsø after 5 hours without seeing the Auroras. Too bad. We heard from other groups that they went deep into Finland and experienced the beautiful dance of the Auroras.
Gabriele, Jonathan and our bus driver Christoper were a great team that guided us to a spectacular night of Northern Lights, despite a forecast of clouds. We appreciated the excellent commentary. It was the first of more than a half dozen tours we’ve taken here, in Yellowknife, Canada and in Alaska where the guide explained camera settings. Gabriele also told us charming stories about how earlier peoples interpreted the lights, including as an activity related to Arctic foxes. She took excellent photos and served delicious hot chocolate that was not the usual watery Swiss Miss. The bus was comfortable and had a small restroom, which we greatly appreciated. We assumed a bus trip would not be as good as a small group tour in a van, but it was.
Gabriela and Jonathan were great tour guide who shared a lot of fun facts. The journey started on a super cloudy night, but they chose a great spot to settle down. Later in the evening, the skies cleared and we were able to see some great northern lights. Thanks for Christopher as well, great bus driver; we felt very safe.
It was an amazing experience!!! The weather was very bad when the tour started (it bad rainy a lot), but our guide and driver did a very good job to find a place where it was clear and the aftermath was beautiful!!! We saw amazing northern lights! The guide was also well prepared, he knew everything about northern lights: the physics behind, how to chase it, were to see it and how to photograph it! Also he took amazing pictures of us with the northern lights. At the end there is also hot chocolate and cookies! 10/10 experience!!! Thank you for the amazing tour.
Amazing. A true experience. The guides and the driver were nice and well-prepared. Definetely recommended!!!!❤️
We had a fantastic time with this tour! Lea and Marina were very kind and explained a lot about the lights and thankfully we were lucky to see the northern lights in all of its glory. They even took some nice photos of us as promised. Very satisfied! :)
Very nice experience with good organisation! We had to join the German group because it was the only one still available but the guide did everything possible to include also the non-german speaking people in the explanations of the activities of the night. Both Marina and Lea were really nice, giving advices to set the phone's cameras and very kind doing picture of everyone!
We had two tour guide. Together, they explained the history of belief in Northern Lights from different ethic backgrounds and the science of Northern Lights very well. I highly recommend this tour.
We chased the Northern Lights inland when they were in Tromso and the guides refused to return us in Tromso for a chance to see the aurora there.
Great tour, informative. Not highest lights activity and clouds on the night we went but cannot take away from organisers, trying different spots. We enjoyed it, saw lights with naked eyes and would recommend.
Gabriel is so patient, very pleasant and a great photographer. I'm so happy to have her as our tour leader. Artic Guide Service is very reliable and trustworthy.
Excellent guides who explained all about the Northern Lights, comfortable coach, take you to where the activity is best.
Aurora Borealis was dancing right above my head. Second location/wave was a very good Quick stop is good as area gets very chilly
Awesome experience…Elena and Kristin were really knowledgeable and knew exactly where we could witness this amazing phenomenon. Elena was particularly accommodating with our wishes regarding photos.
Thanks finally we chase and look wonderful northern light We love ur support during journey to chase light and ur effort to find light during difficult weather
Fun trip to the camp thanks to our guide who entertained us with interesting stories about Tromsø, norvegians and humor Beautiful sky and help from our photographer who helped us with our own camera settings and took beautiful pics of us and the lights Lucky to see beautiful and clear aurora, bright green-white-pink aurora at ab unexpected stop on our way back to Tromsø center Thank you
When the sky is clear and solar activity is high, there is a great chance of seeing the lights and people don’t care about the type of the vehicle or tour guides, but if these conditions are not in place, other factors come into play, and one wishes a better vehicle and better guides. In our case the sky was overcast and solar activity not great (between KP 1 and 2). Perhaps, the tour company should have cancelled the tour, but at a loss, you know… Here is what went wrong. Vehicle. It was a bad idea to travel in a big bus. Our bus arrived late at what seems the most popular viewing point, the parking space was packed, and we were able to park only due to other drivers’ courtesy. When we moved to another, equally popular, but narrower point, we found ourselves in a precarious situation: no parking place and no space for a maneuver to turn the bus back. The driver - the only positive point of this trip, calm and skillful - managed to reverse the bus crawling at a dangerously short distance from the slope leading to the water. We did not disembark at this point or any further viewing points. Guides. The guides provided a minimal information at the beginning of the trip. They assured us that they would be constantly monitoring the situation (weather), but it was not the case. Instead they were engaged in a private and very loud chat with each other. We leaned a lot about the countries where one of them lived prior to coming to Norway, his ex-girlfriend, her grandparents, her dog, his in-laws in his country of origin, his political views of the mayor of Tromso and his brother, etc. Frankly, it was inappropriate and unpleasant. We could not even sleep, because the conversation was so loud. We had an experience with two other tours (not the same company, fortunately), and in both cases the guides were excellent: they provided interesting information wisely portioned at regular intervals throughout the trip and actively engaged with the groups. We believe that bad weather and low solar activity could and should be compensated by the guides, educating us about Norway, its traditions (not about their ex’s), telling stories, jokes etc. Both guides were foreigners. Maybe they did not love Norway or did not know much about it? They did not update us on the changing conditions either and did not show any creativity in choosing alternative locations. Overall. We do understand that the northern lights are unpredictable. What we are unhappy about is not the lack of spectacular lights, but the lack of effort and engagement on the guides’ part. The extra star goes to the driver, otherwise the rating would be only 1. Recommendation for the company: 1. Sometimes it is ok to cancel the trip. We came across one company that did. Alternatively, if the weather is bad, explain to the tourists the adverse conditions and risks, and reimburse if they decide not to go. 2. Establish a communication system with other companies to obtain the information about availability of parking at standard viewing points. 3. Pay attention to the choice of guides, perform quality control, retrain or replace those who underperform. 4. Provide the guides with the list of alternative locations. Recommendations for fellow travelers. 1. In general, if financially feasible, go with minivans. They are more mobile (some go as far as Finland to really CHASE the lights, not only visit standard overcrowded locations) and they have less problems with parking. We saw a small group at our stop, they were sitting around a campfire, which created a cordial and convivial atmosphere even in bad weather. 2. Consider avoiding this company; there are plenty others.
Great experience and the guide was fantastic. Although the sky was cloudy she managed to find some northern lights.
We had a great time and were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights! Gabriela was a very knowledgable and friendly guide who answered all of our questions and was very accomodating!
It was an amazing experience, very well organised, the team was very competent and knew what they were doing. Definitely advice trying it.
Worst company to book with. Save your money and time. This company had cancelled our trip and we were not even notified. We were waiting at pick up point and no one showed up. No one showed up to pick us up from the meeting point so I gave them a call and they said tour is cancelled. Tour time was at 6:30 pm and we found out our tour is cancelled at 6:35 pm. It was very hard to find another tour with different company since it was a closing time for most of the company. I wish I could give a negative star to Artic Service Guide. Thanks to viator they gave us a refund right away after calling them.
They switched us to a tour with a bilingual Spanish-English guide. There were six of us on the bus, three of whom didn't speak Spanish, and the other six of us had purchased the tour in Spanish. The guide refused to speak Spanish, despite being the majority. Her attitude was dismissive, and she decided not to answer our questions in Spanish. She was only available for two people.
What an absolutely fabulous trip. Thank you Kira and Bjorn for the best evening ever. We saw the Northern Lights in 3 different areas. When the cloud cover came, Bjorn drove us to a different destination, Kiran pointed out what we were looking for and how to take our own photos, combined with the photos Kira took, all in all, an excellent tour and the best birthday ever! Kira also kept us entertained with stories of Norway and the tales of different countries as to why the Northern Lights exist. Very entertaining tour, would do it again in a heartbeat!
The organisation was not perfect, we were given two different meeting points, distancing about 300 mts and the bus arrived at the very last minute. At the end we found them and we left to chase the northern lights.
The guide gave us a tour of the different spots around Kvaløya and it was absolutely unforgettable. We visited stunning viewpoints and beautiful natural landscapes that we would never have found on our own. The guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole experience feel personal and relaxed. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Tromsø! Thanks Pedro & Muhamad!
The guide found the Northern Lights for us! He found the little bit of clear sky in an area that was pretty cloudy! He also explained everything we could want to know about N lights and how to set your camera for the best photos.. Cookies and hot chocolate were available and a bathroom on board the bus.
The big bus arctic guide service chasing lights tour was very average. To begin with there were 2 guides on the bus namely Yago and Boris, out of which Yago was friendly and nice whereas Boris was extremely rude. Though we understand that the guides had to take care of lots of people on the bus, but the attention level to the needs of guests was minimal. Specially Boris was extremely rude when clicking pictures of guests and always seemed to be in a rush. Our bus also met with a minor snow incident that got all people stranded for 4-5 hours. Arctic guide services head office compensated 50% refund for the problem caused that was quite nice of them; however the decision making in crisis management time with 40-50 people stranded in middle of nowhere was very slow. The guides kept on mentioning that bus company would organize something without understanding that guests had booked with arctic guide services and not the bus company. How the matter needed to be financially settled between arctic guide services and bus company was non of our concerns. Solution and rescue shall have been speedy by Arctic guide team. The only reason I gave this experience a 3 star review is because the team was successful enough to show us a good display of lights despite of the problems.
These guides coordinate with one another and take to far away places from Tromso where skies are clearer. We did the get the lights and it was visible by naked eye with full colours.
Had a great time, good experience of the northern lights. Guides were very helpful in setting up the camera to get some great photos.
We had an amazing tour and saw so many Northern lights. The tour guides were friendly and knowledgeable and helped you with taking the best photos possible with your own camera/phone. You also get a professional photo included in the price. We went to 2 different locations and although we had trouble with our coach getting stuck in the second location, the extra time waiting for recovery meant we had so much more of a chance to see some spectacular lights that we may not have seen if we were not delayed so much! The problem was dealt with well and we were provided taxis home so although a very long tour it was worth it for the lights. We were also given compensation for the inconvenience which we were grateful for. Would highly recommend this tour provider.
Guides were informative, knowledgeable, and managed to catch the lights! Such a great experience, would recommend!
We took the tour on the 22th with all my family. After chasing them for days they have just send a message that our pictures are lost...Be careful with this service as they are not very professional!! Alberto was our guide, so if you are doing the tour with them don't rely on their pics!!!! Don't waste valuable time taking them. "We regret to inform you that the photos taken during your Northern Lights Chase on February 22nd have unfortunately been lost and we are unable to recover them."
Well organised and guides made a lot of effort to find the ideal spot to view the northern lights. Photographs from tour uploaded quickly onto website.
Excellent and comfortable trip. We able to spot the good quality Northern light. Driver and guide was good, friendly and knowledgeable.
Pictures not uploaded. Don’t use this agency, we went with them on 3rd of February to chase the northern lights, we had taken pictures as included and been told it will take 48hours to have them uploaded on website. Since then nothing uploaded just few with just one person and the bus was full, emailed them and also went in the agency on person oposite Burger King and they wants to offer 50% off discount for next trip as they have lost all the pictures, this it’s not a good agency to use as all described, we not gonna pay to go again even with 50% discount. They fail to provide full service and I feel as being scammed. Don’t use them, there are others offering same trip!! We need the pictures for memories , we also been based on them with pictures so we didn’t even used our phones anymore. Poor customer service, this is unacceptable!!
We didn’t see any northern lights, which, while a natural phenomenon, can often be predicted in advance using tools like the KP index and other forecasting resources. Given this, the company knew ahead of time that the chances were extremely low (as they told us during the tour how you can tell whether or not there'll be northern lights). Instead of proceeding with the tour, they should have canceled it and issued refunds rather than taking us on a long, pointless bus ride. It felt like a cash grab rather than an honest experience—so disappointing!
Great experience, good bus, good heat, nice guide, he gave us good tips about northern lights and how to take a good picture.
Was absolutely amazing. The sky was clear with zero clouds. I went on this tour with my girlfriend and saw some amazing Northern Lights. The guide was very friendly and explained some history and details about the Aurora.
the guides were very warm, helpful, and informative! the bus ride was cozy, and best of all the northern lights were beautiful
We did 3 tours with Arctic Guide Service and was able to see the lights twice (once faintly and the 2nd time, a grand show). The lights are spectacular to watch, it is everything that I had imagined after looking at so may photos. The 3rd time was a damp tour because we went almost to the border of Finland, but was snowing all the way. We stopped at a spot with the hope that the weather will clear, but it did not. The weather is a huge factor to take into consideration and the guides can control only so much! All our 3 tours were in a regular bus (and not a mini-bus). The regular bus has restrictions as to where it can go and park -> this means lesser number of spots to see the lights. The guides helped us with Smartphone camera settings and also took great quality photos with their professional cameras. Good value for the price as other activity providers are more expensive.
They said the pictures were going to be uploaded on their website and I've checked many times and they are just not there. I tried contacting them and they are not answering (Instagram and through their online page as well). My tour was on December 23rd with Manuel (so more than 10 days ago, and still no pictures).
We drove a long way to find clear skies and stopped at a few places on the way back. We learned a lot about the aurora from our guide, Romain.
For Dec 24 northern light chase in English, I can't find me & my wife photos from those uploaded, have you uploaded all? I tried to send message to "contact us" but it fails, could someone contact me?
We got really lucky and saw the lights on full display at both our stops. We had ample time at both well chosen locations to take in the scenery and enjoy the experience. Our guides Alberto and Elizabeth were really kind and helpful (especially with my camera which wasn't working particularly well!). The hot drinks and snacks were welcome and the whole evening was magical.
Beautiful Northen Light, thanks to Manuel and his colleagues for working and making the right decision in choosing the right location. He is not hesitate sharing his thought process, thank you for the great night.
Total Ripoff, Very unprofessional. The tour was mainly driving in the bus. The halt was for 20-25 mins only. That too on a road side and not a proper place. No campfire Tour guide was least interested in helping or finding a good spot to see the northern lights And finally when it seemed like you could see the lights, they had to go back to tromso and asked everyone to get into the bus. Professional photos were not taken although it was mentioned in the services. Do not book this tour.
