Absolutely excellent. Highly recommended. The tour guide Tomas was very knowledgeable and gave a lot of information about the area as we drove through the mountains. There were a couple of stops enroute to enjoy the beautiful scenery and take photos. The coach driver Sok expertly navigated the mountainside to the final stop. This was in a beautiful cove, surrounded by mountains. The fun didn’t stop there! Photos, hot drinks, snacks along with a fire and information about the northern lights. The coach trip back took each of us safely to areas that were close to our accommodation. I would highly recommend this trip, both guides were very professional and courteous and i would definitely book again.

You never know how these kinds of trip will work out (no guarantee of seeing the NL), so understand we may be a bit biased. First, we did the trip in the small bus (20), versus the larger full-size which is closer to 40. Does that make difference? Certainly the smaller may be able to get to a few more places during the "chase." And perhaps just a bit more concierge feel. Now, we did this on a very cloudy day with little sky opening. Our guide was experienced and had all the tech to see where the aurora was expected and where (if any) cloud openings would be. He chose the only place that was expected to have openings, and somewhere he had not been before. So we drove for 1.5 hours and then he jumped out to look. No go first stop, 15 minutes later he did that same, came back in and said...ITS THERE. Let' find a place other than park. We were about 10 minutes outside a national park, and so drove to the large parking lot at the entrance and were were the only tour present!! We jumped out and saw the aurora. It was faint, and lasted about 30 minutes. We all got our photo with it, and then it dissipated. The guide used his tech to see the "activity" was building again, and about 30 minutes later the next wave hit, this one fairly strong. That is the photo I have attached. While we did end up seeing it better a few says later when we stayed out in the country for a few nights, this trip was still worth it. He ended up calling his sister bus and they arrived as well to enjoy the second wave. They had our photo available for free (not sure why as I thought there was cost, but great!!) for download a few days later, and that is a great memory to have! Well done Polar Adventures!!
Joanna, Sara and Bogdan were great! They were very knowledgeable. We had a an amazing time with them watching the Aurora Borealis dance in the night sky.
Pictures tell the story! >> Highly recommended
We went on a northern lights tour, in a mini bus, but there was another mini bus and 2 large busses going out on the same night. We all ended up at the same viewing spot on a main road with traffic going past regularly, I would guess almost 100 people at the same place trying to get photos. Then they make us wait outside of the bus in -20 while they start pointless small fire for marshmallows and Luke warm drinks.. we them pack up and move to another viewing spot, again on a major road with other buses. The final insult is that after all of that, you get 2 free photos, not with you in them, if you want to get a photo of you and lights, that costs extra, and you done get to preview the photo before you buy it. I could no recommend these people ever
Great experience! Our tour guide was amazing and extremely helpful. I have nothing bad to say about this tour
We did the big bus Aurora tour and it was fantastic - the bus was comfortable and warm; the campfire, hot drinks, and marshmallows was a lovely experience out in the snow; the snowsuits they provided were warm and comfy. We were also lucky with amazing displays of the aurora, though of course no one can really control that! However the real heroes were our two guides and our driver: Joana, Sara, and Bogdan. They were all brillliant. Bogdan was super friendly all while driving us safely to some great spots and tending to the fire. Sara and Joana both had an infectious enthusiasm and energy, created a great atmosphere, looked after everybody, were very knowledgeable, and took incredible photos, making sure everyone had a turn. Thanks to the three of them for a fantastic night!
It’s a really lucky trip that I saw the most amazing view I’ve ever seen, not only the rare red aurora, but also the dancing lights. The stuffs are also full of passion and energy, I love the trip and this is the best Christmas I’ve ever had! Thank you all !!
Our guides were great in setting expectations, noting that what you see online is not what usually happens. Tromso itself gets only I think they said 3-5 cloudless evenings per month, which is the point of signing up for a tour such as this: they know where there are clear skies. The night before we went, they apparently had to drive 3-4 hours toward Finland, but we were lucky, having to drive only about an hour. However, when we arrived the auroras weren't very strong. We waited, somewhat disappointed. But we know the tour company can't control what the sun is doing! However, our guides were smart and didn't move us from the patch of clear sky ...and with time the auroras came out strongly! We realised this is what we paid for: their expertise in knowing where to go and what to do. If we had rented a car and gone on our own, with the apps we knew of, we would not have had this experience. Also, the guides Dimi and Stina were great photographers as well as phenomenal people! <3 We felt lucky to have signed up for this tour, and to have gone with them!
The Crew was very friendly and accommodating. Hans Eric, Paolo and Bogna were great guides to seeing the Aurora Borealis in Tromso!
What an amazing experience. It was fully cloudy and snowy at Tromso but Dimi our guide took us all the way to Finland border to see a spectacular show. The driver ( sorry forgot her name ) she drove very responsibly in a crazy weather . Recommend 100 percent . Snacks and hot chocolate was awesome .
The tour was very well organized. The weather forecast wasn't promising, but we were lucky to see the Aurora, and it was amazing! We did the 7-hour tour with our kids (ages 4 and 9), and it was fine; they were fascinated. Just have to plan the return to the hotel after the tour (around 1 am). We can definitely recommend the company.
This company was the most attentive in explaining things to people who aren't used to living in an Arctic climate, advising on the basic precautions needed to stay well during the tour and the freezing weather. Sokratis is the most captivating guide we've ever met, with a great sense of humor, attentive and friendly, and an excellent photographer! I highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates a warm welcome during the breathtaking experience of seeing the Northern Lights. He also took us to very unique places, sharing local stories.
We joined the Northern Lights tour with Hans, Joanna, and Bogdan on 23.11.25, and it was absolutely fantastic. It felt like a real aurora hunt — already at the very first stop we saw activity in the sky and captured plenty of beautiful photos. Later on, we enjoyed a hot cocoa and biscuits, and during that time the Northern Lights grew even stronger and more magical. The bus was warm and comfy, just as promised, and the cooperation between the guide and the driver was excellent. Both were incredibly professional and happy to answer all of our questions. A truly memorable experience on our 34th wedding anniversary day!!!!!! And more bonus: we got a few professional photos the next day for free:))))) Thank you❤️ Brigitta and Janos
The guide and Vanessa were amazing! I had accidentally booked only one ticket even though we were a couple… they solved the problem immediately and allowed us to join the experience! They shared so much interesting information about the aurora, were always happy to answer any questions, and they were fantastic photographers too! The photos are incredible! We were lucky enough to see the aurora dancing in a beautiful location. I’ll be forever grateful! Choose their tour! Carolina
I absolutely loved the trip. Our tour was on 08/11/2025. We managed to see the Northern Lights three times, and the last time they were a bit more visible and moving. I only have compliments for our guide, Dimi an excellent guide, very friendly, and he explained everything clearly. He and the driver created a very comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend this company.
We went from being very disappointed when the Northern Lights cruise we had booked was cancelled to being absolutely thrilled to find some Northern Lights via the minibus tour (driver Socrates) that was offered to us instead It was a magical evening that we will never forget and we were very grateful to be dropped at our hotel after which was unexpected but welcomed. Will definitely book another trip with them when we return to Tromso.
We went on this trip unsure if we would be lucky enough to see the lights as it was snowy and cloudy in Tromso and beyond. We were driven to just over the border into Finland to find clearer skies and stopped at a spot where we briefly saw a faint display of the lights. A fire was started and hot chocolate and cookies were offered. It was getting late and we were expecting to be driven back, however our wonderful guide, Dimi, and our driver, Bogdan, took us on to another spot in hopes of having better luck and there we saw the most amazing dancing lights display, even better than we could have hoped for. We cannot thank Dimi and Bogdan enough for going the extra mile (literally!) to search for the lights, even though they knew this would extend the trip by an hour. As a brilliant bonus we were able to download the photos Dimi had taken on the night. Thank you again for making a dream come true!
I went on a minibus tour into the Norwegian night, and we were very lucky to see some spectacular northern lights displays. We stopped at a couple of scenic locations including the last spot where we had hot chocolate, biscuits and marshmallows around a campfire. All in all a superb evening and Dimi was a great guide
Hans Erik had great intuition and helped us see GORGEOUS Aurora lights. We got offered delicious chocolate, marshmallows and lovely stories of what the lights mean. Great trip, totally recommended.
Eric was our guide and he was great. We got very lucky with the northern lights but he guided us and got some great pictures!! It was definitely worth the travel!!
Our Guide Eric with his team Anna, Socrates and the rest of the whole team gave us such a heavenly experience under the sky with glimpse of Northern Lights- Bonfire with Marshmallows- which we will never Forget - some moments seemed like we were in the middle of nowhere in a dark night with all the bright stars and greenish purplish and bluish colored lights playing in the sky- what a goosebump feeling- Thank you team for giving us such a wonderful night
Can’t really write a review on the experience because no one showed up for the tour. Waiting for a full refund. Very cold and cloudy so probably not good viewing for the northern lights anyway but if the tour was canceled, we should’ve been advised!
We had booked for the evening cruise on the fjords but at lunchtime the same day was cancelled because we were too few (16 people). They offered us a tour of the Northern Lights by minibus (or refund) and we accepted. The minibus was not available so we went with the big bus, but in 16 it was actually very comfortable. Actually it is perhaps the tour that I liked the most (we did several minibus tours) because the guides, perhaps to compensate for the missed cruise, have worked hard. The atmosphere was magical. We stopped at several spots, had a hot drink and made marshmallows on the fire and the guide sang for us. Shortly afterwards, the Northern Lights appeared and it was special. Thank you!
Very good experience and highly recommended thanks to Leila and Joanna!
Beautiful moments spent last night with an appointment with the extraordinary Northern Lights. An unimaginable activity, a guide, Hans Eric, passionate who provided us with a thousand explanations, a very good driver, a bonfire and the discovery of Grotfjord. To do again!!!!! Thank you for everything.
The guides Dimi and Mati were sensational telling various stories, myths and explanations about the Aurora Boreal. They took us to points with the best chance of seeing the Aurora Boreal. Always willing to help and remove doubts. The journey was quiet and very punctual. I highly recommend!
The two guides Hans Eric and Joana, have selected great spots for Aurora Borealis observation. An unforgettable evening with the happiness of fantastic Northern Lights. Too bad the personal pictures - at least ours upside down - were provided.
Dimi is an excellent guide and Socrates a super careful driver! We spent a very nice night in an island off Tromsö! We recommend!
Disappointing, the first disappointment was not having seen good auroras, the forecast was bad, we knew it was going to be cloudy, but I am left with the feeling that both guide and driver could have done much more for us to see something better. We were looking at the same day's photos of the other bus and they saw better scenery. The professional photos have nothing... and the ones they make available for free are of landscape and of a very questionable artistic quality... for the price of the excursion and on days when all you see is an almost green sky, it would have been a good detail to give you the photos. Our bus stopped at the side of the road, we spent a while without fire or bonfire looking at a sky without auroras, the guide at one time said “it seems to me that there is aurora” took photos and were clouds. All very disappointing. Our guide was very friendly but lacked experience and knowledge of the auroras, told us more about her life and because she moved to Tromso than the auroras. Finally the driver made the fire, we stayed 15 minutes and left, My advice: make sure the weather conditions are right or if there are forecast cloudy skies, rain or snow don't lose money because it's not worth it,
The crappiest sunrise of the whole holiday. We were lucky enough to see every night the dawn and we saw better ones downtown! During the dawn the guide told us that you could not stop with the bus (there was a gas station 10 meters but I'm afraid they can not improvise). By the time we stopped the dawn was gone... It was an endless bus ride to see very little. Many spots had already been occupied by other tours. The only positive thing was the stop at the beach, which even at night had suggestive views (but nothingw to do with the dawn). They offer two free photos but of course not the ones they make you that are paid. Double cheat!!!! Other tours are better organized.
Many thanks to Annbritt & Hans-Eric , the two of them gave me such a great experience. Professionally and with a lot of knowledge I had a mega time on January 10th. Lady Aurora was so intense and after we were brought to our hotels I fell asleep sooo happy 💚🩵💙🙏
It was an amazing experience. Super recommended. From the beginning we were treated as at home and our guide explained everything very well and even gave us curious data
Magic moments! The excursion is very well organized, departure from the docks in a comfortable bus, explanations by our guide during the journey. Stop at the first point and we stayed 4 hours on site to admire the Northern Lights. Our guide Thomas, gave us a lot of explanations, he helped me adjust my camera and also photographed us several times. Favourite for the moment by the fire listening to Sami songs while watching the dawn, we were out of time! Thank you Polar Adventures for this wonderful experience!
It was perfect! The weather was very rainy and difficult to see the dawns. But our guide Hans Eric was wonderful! You managed to find perfect auroras! Green, blue and red, we were presented by God!!
Polar adventure great Service, attention, care, all out of 10, we highly recommend them Socrates excellent information and attitude
