What a brilliant night. Well organised, superb experience, excellent staff and local Sami guides - and best of all - the Northern Lights put on a show for us. Highly recommend this excursion if you are in Tromso.

Wonderful tour. Loved the time with the reindeer. Staff all very helpful and knowledgeable. The food was so good and the stories and songs very entertaining. Highly recommend this tour.
This is a wonderful experience from feeding reindeer to reindeer slay ride. And learning about the sami culture which was very interesting
Wonderful. We went for the Reindeer and the Sami culture. We got actually what we wanted 😊. Mother Nature gave us rain but we gained much more in the experience. All ages can experience and enjoy. No matter the weather. Life grows with seeing in person.
This could have been organised better. We were put on a bus with no explanation and drove off. We had no idea where we were going and how long it would take to get there. You need a tour guide on board or at least an explanation on boarding. We then fed the reindeer and waited for our sleigh tour. This left a lot of space for another possible activity which was wasted. The meal was very poor, just a bowl of soup. We were all hungry and bought some food when we returned to Tromso. The explanation of the culture was excellent though. At the end we were rushed on to the buses with no opportunity to see the Northern Lights which were out there. Would I go again -- no, a lot of money but should be better organised
After a short bus journey, we arrived at the camp, greeted by Ana and Luna. After a brief introduction to the evening, we were sent to feed some reindeer and take part in some reindeer sledding! Both activities were great fun (the female reindeer prodding at you gently with their antlers to get access to your feed buckets was funny and the short sledding trip was nice under the night sky). We then had hot beverages (tea/coffee/hot chocolate) and were offered the 3 course meal (I had the vegetarian option which was nice). The meal was slightly interrupted in the best way - the Aurora came out and was beautiful in the sky. The last part of the evening was spent listening to our Sami guides tell us more about their culture, the reindeer and answering any of our questions. I definitely recommend this trip!
Absolutely fantastic experience- the staff were so friendly and informative. We were also lucky enough to see the Aurora and there were plenty of opportunities to watch and take photos. The reindeer were very well looked after and really enjoyed getting to feed them and see more about their little personalities (some sassier than others). Would recommend this trip to anyone!
Great experience, really enjoyed hearing more about Sami culture. Feeding the reindeers was fun, and we were lucky enough to see some auroras whilst there!
5 stars for the very warm and engaging Luna, who sang for us and explained the very interesting history of the Sami people! Unfortunately the reindeer sledding and feeding were quite underwhelming and disappointing as we just sat on a sled and slowly inched a circle around the feeding area in the dark.
This experience was quite expensive, but my daughter and I enjoyed it. The reindeer were lovely and feeding them was fun. The sleigh ride was fairly uneventful but it was a beautiful night with the northern lights up above so we loved it anyway. The food was lovely, and the Sami host was informative and interesting. The only negative for us was that on our date, there was a large Spanish-speaking group, which wasn't an issue (great people!) except that everything had to be translated which was a bit frustrating.
I gave this outing 4 points only because in the description additional info it stated what’s included it mentioned warm overalls and boots if required. Well that evening it was a very wet snow at our 6pm tour. Even though my husband and I were properly dressed, it was never mentioned nor was asked if anyone needed the items mentioned above. Other wise I would have given this tour a 5 star. Lecture, food was great.
Wow! Everything from start to finish was amazing. The site was very large which was good to see for so many reindeer, they all looked and seemed well looked after and happy, which as a tourist perspective is a key factor when doing animal activities. The feeding was great, plenty of food and time to roam by yourself during this. The sledding was fantastic, and thank you to the staff for taking photos for us. The 3 course meal was outstanding for starter main and desert. And a special thank you to (I have forgotten her name sorry) the Sami girl who afterwards gave us a big talk about Sami culture and lots of interesting information. We were lucky enough that the Northern Lights were really strong for our visit to, with exceptional views to due to area being in low light pollution out of the city area. Short bus ride 25 mins from Tromsø bus terminal. This really was an experience never to forget.
Good dinner and can feed reindeers, see northern lights, may be around 10-20 minutes of information on Sami culture. Not worth the time spend. We were lucky to see northern lights.
Nice experience, nice meal. Really had a good time with the reindeers and learning about Saami culture.
This is a difficult review to write as generally I try and write positive reviews, this event just fell short on all fronts. We were unsure if we would book this, but we wanted to feed the reindeer and as the tour mentioned the “chance of seeing Northern Lights”, we thought why not! Plus, a short sled ride and dinner in the tent, along with stories and songs which sounded entertaining. That said it was expensive for what it turned out to be and not something we would do again or recommend. I feel the chance of seeing NL is stretching it given proximity to Tromso and the floodlights at the camp. You would have to have perfect conditions and even then I am not sure! The location is not actually that far out of Tromso, the day before we had an email to say the sled rides might be cancelled due to a lack of snow and the weather. A part refund was offered and communication was good. As it was, they were not cancelled, we chose not to do the ride in the end. The bus collected us on time from the bus station and that was well organised and efficient. Upon arrival we had a short walk up a slope to the camp. There were toilets just sited at the edge of the camp (porta cabin type loos not on mains). They were clean enough. The camp itself has massive flood lights all around it, highlighting the reindeers and camp. The main area where the reindeer were (and they were great to be fair and we enjoyed feeding them), was just a big area of slushy mud. We were given 90 minutes to feed the reindeer which I feel coincides with the time that is needed to accommodate the sled rides, 90 minutes to feed the reindeer is just way too long, to be fair 30 minutes would be enough. The people booked on the sled ride (which took about 20 minutes with 10 minutes set up), were set off in batches of about 15 in a long queue, so with a bus load of people, circa 60 it takes a while for all the rides to be undertaken. Hence the time to feed the reindeer. We choose not to do the sled ride as I just could not see the appeal of being taken around a somewhat muddy area with minimal snow on a sled in a long line of people (not at all like the website portrays). Getting bored we went into one of the tents to grab a hot drink and biscuit (very nice). We then just waited around for the people to finish the sled rides. By then the reindeer had clearly had enough to eat and just wandered off. We then had the meal, three courses which again was certainly nice enough, we asked for seconds on the stew which was given. The pudding was so sweet it just tasted of sugar. We were sat with a lovely American couple so that helped pass the time. After that we then all walked to the tent for the Sami stories, the tent was totally smoke filled, with the door shut and damp weather the whole room smelt like a bonfire, to be fair we nearly got up and left it was so bad. We were sat as far back as possible from the fire. Even though we were promised traditional Sami stories and songs what we got was the 12-month cycle of the reindeers, it lacked any real character and nothing we could not have found out ourselves. We were pleased (and relieved) when it came to an end, and we were able to leave. This review is not about the weather, but to us if felt like the whole evening had been “padded out” to justify the cost circa £350.00. It was 4 – 4.5 hours in total door to door, but really could have been done and dusted in half the time. The reindeer were great, the rest really nothing to write home about, we felt it was overpriced for what it was! The only event we did in Tromso that was a disappointment. Before you book check this is right for you!
Reindeers were very cute and had lots of time to feed them, staff were so friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious and Sami storied very interesting with lots of time for questions, would definitely recommend!
We loved it. The Sami were lovely friendly people and the reindeers lovely. Great experience and lots of happy memories
This is a must do, learning about the Sami culture, reindeer feeding, 3 course meal which was delicious all served in an amazing tent , and a salad ride which was amazing under the northern lights. We chose this company and they have great ethical and eco values and the reindeer are so well looked after . We were blown away one of the bare experiences of of loved
It was fun to experience with the whole event . However nothing much and weather not permitted to do the sledding
Reindeer feeding and sleigh were both fantastic experience. Meeting place is easy to find The reindeer seems to be jumping on our back , maybe asking for more feeding, which is a little scary and certainly scared my wife, which cused her to abandon the feeding participation. The Sami culture story telling was enlightening and entertaining. Although the chance to have a northern light sighting ahould have not been offered, for it was never mentioned in the tour and it misled us in believing that we will be lucky to see the northern lights. We came back with disappointment. Good my daughter who went on an aurora hunting trip last november suggested we should take an exclusive aurora hunting with Wandering Owl, which is a 15 years tour operator and we were lucky to have joined it in last minute registration on the next day, despite being discouraged due to the end season for northern light hunting in end of march. I suggest not to take this tour for aurora hunting, you will likely to get disappointed. Join an exclusive hunting expedition instead Overall, this tour is marvelous and full of excitemnt
Our family of 6 had a great time! We got to go on a reindeer sled, feed a large group of reindeer, and listen to stories of the Sami people. We had so much fun! Unfortunately, the weather was too cloudy to see the northern lights though that's no one's fault.
Amazing experience learning about the sami culture, while being surrounded by reindeer. Meal was lovely. Highly recommend.
This trip is a wonderful way to meet and feed the reindeers have a great Sami meal and find out from the Sami girls all about their culture. I woupd recommend it to anybody that looks at doing the trip.
We had a great time. It was fun feeding the reindeer. It was good to see them at night. There were lights so you could see them and take pictures. We had plenty of time. The sleigh ride was fun. Food good and the talk very interesting.
We were a big bus full. Did not spend time in a Lavvi but in a double wide wooden building...shaped like 2 Lavvi together. Nice big fire. Lots of time feeding reindeer. Too much time eating dinner which was really Meh. If you are showing off your reindeer, try to make the stew with meat you can chew and isn't so very gamey. Sami presentation was interesting. Just one guy. Maybe 15 minutes total and a very brief Sami song. I did not feel it was good value at over $300 for the two of us.
It was a good experience. The hosts did a great job and told us a lot about the Sami culture. The food was really good as well! Getting to interact with the reindeer was fun as well. They’re kind of like big puppies who aren’t afraid to let you know they’re hungry!
It was a really well-organized experience. Due to the heavy rain on the day of our visit, the sledding was cancelled. We were offered either a full refund or a partial one, which would allow us to join other parts of the tour. This was very well communicated, so we chose to join, and we're glad we did. Reindeer feeding was really fun. After that we were served a nicely prepared 3-course dinner at the camp: salmon salad, reindeer stew and chocolate cake (vegetarian options were also available). We enjoyed learning about the Sami culture. The staff was engaging the audience and had interesting stories to tell. Definitely a must-do in Tromso.
We had a wonderful evening meeting the Reindeer and learning about the Sami culture. It was a very relaxing evening and nothing was rushed. Plenty of time to feed to Reindeer and have a sleigh ride before a great 3 course meal and hots drinks beside the fire. The talk after dinner was very interesting. The travel included was well organised. Just a 25 min bus ride.
Amazing opportunity to learn about the Sami and their native culture! Throw in feeding the reindeer and you have a complete experience! We were even blessed with seeing the Northen lights as well! I highly recommend this tour.
It was fun to feed reindeer, though some were very pushy about getting fed! Sled ride was also brief but fun. Learning about Sami culture was interesting.
After a short trip on a coach we arrive at the reindeer base. We got to feed reindeer from buckets before getting on a short sled ride. Dinner was lovely and traditional, getting to know others on the tour too and we learned lots about Sami culture. Overall an excellent tour. One improvement would be at the very start it is not very well organised as they have two large tours leaving at the same time.
GOOD night...sled ride was good...lots of reindeer on site. Staff were great. Meal was nice Culture talk was great
Such a fun experience. We enjoyed learning the Sami culture while in an amazing location. They selected reindeer swarm you like you are bringing sweet treats to the party as they push each other aside. Everyone was smiles. My girlfriend swore she would not eat the reindeer stew and ended up enjoying it. This adventure is worth the time.
The reindeer camp was around 30 minutes away from city, so it was pretty close. We first fed the reindeer for around 15 minutes, then were brought to ride on the reindeer sled. The ride was about 15 minutes. Unlike husky ride where we actually drove the sled, we only sat on the reindeer sled and staff at the front would lead. Interesting experience, but not to expect too much fun. After that we went to a tent for a 3-course dinner, food is ok. During dinner, staff informed us there were northern lights and we went out for photos. The light was great! Better than expected given that we were rather close to the city where there were a lot of lights. Afterwards we learned about the Sami culture from 2 Sami currently studying university in Tromso, quite informative and good to learn something about the locals on an oversea trip. :)
Nice to feed the reindeer and learn more about sami. The stew and fish were gorgeous! Unfortunatelly we couldn t sleigh because of the ice
Incredible experience. The reindeer were so fun to interact with and though no Northern Lights seen, so beautiful. Sami people story telling so very enlightening and enjoyable ❤️
The evening was really nice, would recommend! If you have time - do it. The reindeer are a hoot and fun to be around. So just enjoy
Absolutely incredible, the reindeer were so friendly and we loved feeding them and the sledge ride. Dinner was delicious and the Sami culture talk was fascinating. We also had the most incredible northern lights show, it was truly magical spending time with the Reindeer with the lights dancing overhead. All the staff were excellent and it was very well organised. This was one of the highlights of our trip- thank you!
Amazing evening - the weather was absolutely pelting it down with snow but this made it more atmospheric. Feeding the reindeer was cute and so was the sleigh ride although I was freezing by the time we got off. No worries, there's an area to go in and warm up where we then had dinner which was delicious. Afterwards we went into the larger hut to hear about the Sami tribe, our host was really lovely and it was all very interesting. This was an absolute highlight of our trip and I couldn't recommend it enough.
Did this activity 2 days ago. Was well organised & enjoyable. Was very relaxing including the sledding. Highly recommended.
I'd say it's a super nice experience for people with kids, not particularly for 36 Yr old self travelling alone. The sledding is very slow as a person walks pulling the reindeer, so walking pace. The feeding is super fun and even though the reindeers like picking on each other, they are very docile and it's nice. Dinner was lovely, really tasty. Then we got to learn about the Sami people which was also very interesting. I'd probably would have done things in a different order had I had a choice. Also, because you stand inside with a bonfire, get ready to have stinky clothes!
Overall very funny experience interacting with and feeding the reindeers. The main highlight was experiencing a very clear northern lights across the sky. Highly recommended.
25 minute drive to reindeer farm from Tromso. Firstly we spent 15/20 mins on the reindeer sleigh ride and then 30/45 mins to feed the reindeers and take photos. ( hot drinks available if you need to warm up). We then had a 3 course meal of salmon salad, reindeer stew and chocolate cake followed by a fire side presentation from the Sami people about their culture and history. Totally Amazing trip not to be missed! We were even lucky to see the northern lights which finished our stay in Norway perfectly.
Well organised trip, unfortunately (or fortunately) then sighting of northern lights shortened the time for the Sami people to share their history with us. Would have liked that to be longer because it was very interesting to learn about their culture.
This tour was greattt, meal was traditional, filling and was delicious! It was very informative about Sami Culture. Reindeers were beautiful and friendly (some had character, when giving food lol).
It was a great feeding the reindeer and learning about the Sami culture. Sleigh ride could be longer. Dress warmly and the auroras may be out so dress warm
Wow, this was excellent! A short 30 min bus ride from central bus station, a warm greeting in the Sami tent, as much reindeer feeding as you could handle, plus a short sleigh ride. Dinner was great, unlimited hot drinks, and the northern aurora came out on show, it was just perfect!
Great communication from provider to rebook us due to flight cancellation. Sami host was delightful and dinner great.
This was a very unique experience and I recommend you try it as least once! It is a well run operation and true to the description. We started with a feeding and meeting of the reindeer, then were fed a very good dinner and taught more about Sami culture. We did not get to sled due to weather, but that is okay! Was still a great experience regardless.
Great experience, includes dinner, sleigh trip, cultural activity and rain deer feeding. Sami culture is very interesting.
