Top marks for our guide Ray, there’s certainly nothing I don’t know about huskies now!. So knowledgeable- if you’re a doggy person like me you’ll love this. We were charged with an 8 month old pup on the hike and it was a real treat so see these dogs in action (and feel their strength). Was lovely to spend time at the end of the hike with all the huskies who enjoyed the cuddles and fussing given out by all the group.

Itinerary
Walking atop a deep layer of snow, listening to the steady rhythm of your breath. A gorgeous mountain landscape stretches as far as your eye can see and the image sinks calmly into your mind. A way to immerse yourself in the moment, clear your head and refill your batteries. Join our experienced guide on a snowshoe hike through the Arctic wilderness accompanied by one or two Alaskan huskies. The route is chosen according to the weather, snow conditions and the wishes of the group. If the weather allows, we'll enjoy homemade chocolate cake and hot drinks on the trail while admiring the views. Otherwise, we'll gather around the open fire in our cozy Lavvo after the hike. Our Alaskan huskies are born and raised as working dogs, and their welfare always comes first. Every hike is adapted to the dogs' age, fitness and wellbeing, and our experienced handlers carefully rotate the dogs between activities and rest.

Well-organised and friendly company. The dogs were well-cared for, and the hike was beautiful. We were hiking with the dogs for a long time, and also got to pet all the other dogs. There was also some drinks and snacks around a bonfire. They even had vegan snacks for me.
Went on a tour led by Roy, and it was absolutely worth it! Being a solo traveler, I got my own dog to hike with, but every group got their assigned husky that they traded throughout the hike. The hike wasn't too difficult, but enough that it felt like a workout. There was a stop along the way for coffee and tea, and cake was offered after. All of the animals seemed well cared for and genuinely interested in the hike, and all of the staff seemed quite knowledgeable about each individual dog. They were super receptive to concerns of the level of the hike, and made sure it was a good experience for everyone. Boots and snow suits were offered upon arrival, followed by an introduction of how to safely use snowshoes, and meeting the dogs. There was also time after the hike to go to the dog yard. Amazing views too!
Exceptional morning showshoe hike whilst walking husky puppies. In groups of 4 we took turns walking the teenage huskies through the wilderness. The hike lasted a few hours with stops along the way for drinks, cookies and husky cuddles. When we returned to the camp we had plenty of time to meet all of the huskies (around 100 of them) and stroke them as much as we wanted. The dogs were so happy and well behaved and clearly looked after brilliantly. Our guides Armyen and Lily were very welcoming and helpful all day.
This was really a wonderful experience. At first I was not too excited because im not a dog person but I fell in love with them as soon as I started walking with them. The weather was good which played a vital part. The guides were wonderful people, and were very friendly. My wife was slow and was running behind and they made sure someone was with her the whole time and even helped her with her walk. Really worth it.
Best experience we had all weekend and we did a lot! So special to walk with the huskies and see the icy landscape. The gear provided was very warm and comfortable even though it was -15c. I felt it was a better experience than sledding because it we got to walk through the snow. Great fun. Thanks!
Pretty fun experience! It was nice walking the huskies and experiencing snowshoeing for the first time!
This was an adorable experience! We booked the morning snow shoe hike which was accompanied by teenage huskies! We popped our snow shoes on and got straight into the hike which was over beautiful snowy hills above Tromso with amazing views down over the fjord and of the snowy hilltops. We stopped halfway for a tea break; we were offered hot squash, tea, and homemade cookies. All delicious! I got my turn to walk one of the young huskies, Superman, on our way back. We then got to snuggle next to a fire and have more hot drinks and cake. After that we then had an opportunity to meet the other dogs which was lovely! One of our guides, Clementine, even came round and pointed out her favourites and was very friendly. It was a really great experience and well worth a visit! The only thing I would add is that you definitely need to be ready for a workout, pulling young energetic huskies is no joke!
Fun activity, well organised, attentive and professional team. Enjoyed snowshowing and with the additional company of beautiful and lovable dogs!
great experience, we all got in a coach for a 30 minute ride to tromso wilderness centre (located on a island) then we were given waterproofs and boots ( which i would recommend) as it was snowy and sleeting during the walk, we were also asked is we would like to take the huskies out for a walk ( 2 adults and 2 puppies) and we took turns in walking the dogs attached by a leash to a waist harness, strong dogs, we stopped after 45 minutes in a sheltered area to have hot drinks and cake and then walked back to the centre, we were given a tour of the kennels and introduced to younger puppies of 4 months . we were given more hot drinks and cake in the small circular hut whilst we warmed up. the passion of the guides towards the dogs well-being was impressive. strongly recommended and this centre has been around for ? 30 -40 years
A wonderful experience snowshoeing across beautiful landscapes. We did about 5k in total, with a stop half way through for hot drinks and biscuits (supplied by the guides). The guides were incredibly knowledgeable and were more than happy to answer any question we had. We took 2 dogs on the hike, which I enjoyed very much! We spent time in the dog yard after snowshoeing, which was amazing
I had a very good guide on the Snowshoe hike. Hope I remember right, when I say her name was Vicki, she was from Sweden. For me it was luck, I was the only one booked on the hike, the day I went. So had a lot of time to get to know the dog and had some nice talks witn the guide. I got to walk with the dog for a lot of the hike. Which really was a great experience. There where a bit of learing for both me and the dog, but at the end it went well.. I can only recommend it. The quite times in the mountains, with a fresh air, nothing can beat it.. Just remember even if you think it is cold, when you start the hike you will get to be warm..
We were lucky with the weather (blue sky), but what a wonderful day we had. Beautiful walk in the snow, accompanied by guide Charlotte and huskey Ali, some hot chocolate down the road and at the end a big hug with the puppies
A fantastic experience and the guides were such good hosts. They were knowledgeable and friendly and really made it a special trip for my son and me Meeting the huskies was an added bonus
It was a fantastic Day. our guide made sure that we had a wonderful experience especially me as i was quite a beginner to snowshoeing. The atmosphere was perfect and the break around the fire was fantastic. We were fortunate enough that the weather was good until the activity was over. I would do it again and again!
It’s super good, I highly recommend this tour, the staff was super friendly and if you don’t have the appropriate clothing they’ll provide it for you, the food, was really nice ass well. Excellent 👌🏻.
This was the highlight of our whole trip. We had not initially planned this activity but saw the offer in town at their booking store. The pick up was efficiently done. The centre provided all the equipment required for snowshoeing, including snowsuits to keep warm in. We had two lovely guides and even had an old boy husky join us on the walk. The guides were very enthusiastic and told us a lot about the huskies. We also stopped for pictures. The homemade cake and hot chocolate was absolutely amazing. To top it all off, we got to see some of the husky pups and the huskies themselves in the dog yard. It was such a joy: the dogs were all really friendly and happy to see us! Worth a visit!
This was honestly so much fun. Our guide(can't remember his name) was a lovely lad from Denmark. The oy thing I would say it is rather physical. So be prepared! We stopped half way to light a fire and drink some coffee or tea and have biscuits which were provided. The scenery is amazing. We also met the huskies afterwards which was special. Its a must do during your visit.
We had a great time snowshoeing lead by Loti. She took our small group out into the snow into beautiful scenery and quietness. Halfway we sat in reindeer furs and drank hot chocolate. Before heading back. The walk was easy and suitable for all abilities with as much time for taking photos as you wished. We then spent time meeting the sleigh dogs which was a real highlight and makes this experience extra special if you are an animal lover. Before sitting around the fire for some more refreshments and meeting one of the puppies up close. Loti is a great host, very warm and welcoming, who kept the conversation flowing and who is clearly passionate about both nature and the dogs. Everyone at the centre were very friendly and the facility is very well kept as are the happy dogs! Couldn’t ask for more.
Tromso is amazing place you must visit once a life :-) to see this sky by night with northern lights and amazing stars ... indescribable!!!
Very nice experience thanks to Tromsø Villmarkssenter. We went snowshoeing with them and we had a very nice time walking into the wild with wonderful views :) In addition with the normal snowshoeing experience, we had a special guest with us (a husky who had a day off :p) I definitely recommend them for any kind of activities you would like to do close to Tromsø
Had a great day today . V easy logistics, great guides, clear, helpful and friendly - even had a husky with us. Got a tour of husky farm as an added bonus. Wonderful views and great chocolate cake 😁
Superb activity!!! It was our first snowshoe trip and it was perfect. The team is listening to you, despite our very fragile English 😅 An accessible snowshoe trip has everyone's rhythm, incredible contact with dogs and little care with fire and snack. To do again with the same agency without hesitation!!!!
Pick up in the center of Trømso and transfer to the island of Kvaløya where we will carry out the activity. Snowshoe walk for an hour and a half, visit the husky family and finish the activity with a hot drink and homemade candy.
Yesterday we had a husky tour here. It was like visiting friends. Anyone who needed it got thermal clothing and shoes. We all got snowshoes and anyone who wanted poles. Nadja and Leo led us through beautiful scenery with short breaks. During a longer break with hot drinks and biscuits we were given information about the island, flora and fauna. After 2 hours the group was able to warm up in the center and enjoy chocolate cake and drinks. After an entertaining introduction to the center and the dogs, anyone who wanted could go and visit the huskies. Since we had enjoyed it so much the day before, we joined in straight away. We gave the dogs a few cuddles and were able to ask Nadia and Leo a few more questions. When it was time to say goodbye, it was hard. We felt really comfortable. The people were all nice, open and helpful and the dogs were cuddly and considerate. They were two great experiences.
We went snowshoeing with this centre and our guide spoke English and French, which allowed us to ask lots of questions and better understand! Each guide had with him a husky dog to accompany us. Welcoming is very friendly and the staff also! After the walk we had a snack in a wooden tepee and could visit a bit the sled dog breeding. We recommend!
La ragazza che ci ha accompagnato era deliziosa ma il tour era proprio per turisti. Giro nel bosco è passare tra gli alberi, il giro è di circa mezz'ora nei dintorni del campo base. Sinceramente piaciuto poco
