What a perfect way to see Tromso and its surrounding fjords! Kurt (captain) met us on the dock and we left promptly at our tour start time. The catamaran we were on was large, clean, cozy, and beautifully maintained. Kurt was so friendly and welcoming, extremely knowledgeable about not only Tromso, but Norway in general, sharing stories and interesting facts along the way. We sailed out toward the Terpitz (German WWII shipwreck), made a loop around the island, and then came back to the harbor. A perfect way to spend an afternoon in Tromso. Not to be missed!

One of the worst experiences of our lives — avoid this company at all costs. What was advertised as a private luxury tour turned into a complete disaster. We spent eight hours on a boat with no drinks, no food beyond a single bowl of crisps, and absolutely no sense of professionalism. The owner’s brother spent more time talking about his wife’s affair than anything related to the tour, and the skipper was an apprentice who openly argued with him throughout. We witnessed shouting, hostility, and even physical altercations. My wife was so distressed she ended up in tears, and we genuinely felt unsafe for the entire duration. When I raised this with the owner, he admitted this wasn’t the first time issues had occurred with this skipper. His proposed solution? A 30% discount to do the tour again. We live in the UK and had already left — and frankly, we wouldn’t go back even if they paid us. This company completely ruined what should have been a memorable experience. I am now pursuing legal action.
An unforgettable experience on the yacht! 🚤✨ The staff were absolutely amazing — so friendly, professional, and welcoming. They explained everything about Norway, its beautiful nature, and local culture in such a nice way. The views of the sea, mountains, and snow were breathtaking. Truly one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in Norway! Highly recommended! 🇳🇴
Very bad experience. The captain was very rude, impatient, said very harsh words when you didn't understand him, and was racist. I cannot recommend anyone else to sail with this captain. I am a foreigner, so even if I was treated very badly, I didn't have the time and opportunity to seek compensation from them. I think the captain took advantage of this and didn't care about the experience of foreign tourists at all. I hope others don't encounter this captain, he will kneel down your travel experience.
We booked this tour well in advance and unfortunately a big storm hit the week of. The company was really nice and proactive about what was going to happen, even at one point offering to switch to a different boat. At the tour time, we set out on the Arctic Queen. Our captain warned the weather wasn't ideal and the swells were high, but honestly we've been in way worse! It did rain and snow a bit during the cruise, but the sun also came out and we saw a rainbow. The changing weather did make it so you saw a different scene every 5 minutes which was fun. And off the stern you were pretty protected from the wind and it was nice place to take it all in. We stopped for a while near the turn around point where we got to go up top and see 360˚views - beautiful even if a bit windy. Some of the other guests tried fishing a bit. Tea and coffee were available throughout the whole cruise. On our way back in, the captain made a fresh fish soup that was delicious and hit the spot after being quite chilly. Thanks for a fun experience even in the rain! We know sometimes weather cancellations are inevitable, but we really appreciated still getting to go out.
The scenery was amazing and the trip was truly outstanding. The Captain was a joy to get to know and he made an excellent fish soup from his catch that morning!!
It was a great boat ride with some outstanding views of the fjords. The fish soup was truly outstanding that the Captain made, and the conversation with the Captain on his experiences were very memorable ... I highly recommend this trip.
We booked a cruise on the yacht to see fjords and possibly fish. I will say we booked last minute as we had a scheduling snafus with another provider. Instead of the yacht we got a catamaran. The catamaran had more deck space. Turns out the provider overbooked the yacht but we were ok with the change. Our captain was the owner and he was very informative of the history and ecology of the area. However I felt he was stretched thin doing it all. Our cruise was supposed to last 3 hours but we got 2.5. We had a sunny day and the views were great. Enjoyed sitting out front on cat when not going into wind. We did not go into a fjord. Don’t expect it. Still couldn’t get past feeling slightly taken advantage of.
Very nice cruise. Scenery was excellent and captain gave us very good company and background information of area. I recommend this to everyone.
Cruising into the midnight sun was an awesome experience!!! The captain made the journey even more enjoyable! Highly recommended.
Lovely afternoon on the catamaran. The views were stunning, and the fish soup was delectable. Skipper Per went out of his way to ensure that all of his passengers were comfortable and safe. Highly recommend!
Fantastic experience. Captain Per was delightful. He made everyone comfortable and also told some great stories, as well as sharing a lot of local knowledge. We didn't go far from Tromso, but being on the water gives you a totally different perspective. One highlight was going to the far side of the island that is protected for nesting grounds and seeing an amazing number of birds (we also saw an eagle on the way). Another highlight was the amazing fish stew made fresh right on the boat (along with a vegan soup for some other guests); the stew was amazing and hit the spot on a crisp early June day.
It was an amazing trip with our amazing tour guide Gabreil , we were lucky to do some fishing and had the opportunity to eat a delicious soup made by Garbreil containing the fish which we caught , I totally recommend this trip to everyone!
Very nice guide who showed us around Tromso and Kvaloya. Served us delicious fish soup and had a very pleasant chat with him
Excellent Italian guide with the yummiest soup, for whale watching make sure to come in season from nov-jan. Fishing is not part of the package FYI.
A great way to sail around Tromsoya island in a luxury yacht. Per greeted us and was a good host throughout, giving us snippets of history and folklore along the way. The group was small, only 10, which was why we chose this trip and it felt like we were on a boat with friends by the time it finished. The scenery was stunning and the fish soup was so good, everyone had second helpings. Definitely worth it.
The captain was a great guy who has a wealth of knowledge and wanted you to have a great time. However, the activity says Fjord cruise but you don't go to the Fjords. You end up at the channels of the Fjord. Very disappointing that we couldn't see the Fjords.
Very Very terrible experience, The captain's attitude was very bad, he kept pointing his fingers at us and yelling, he temporarily let four people on board who were not our boat so that we didn't have enough room to sit warm and safe, refused to teach us how to use fishing rods and refused to let us on the safe deck, made us take two children to the dangerous side, didn't prepare food for us after we caught three fish, No food was provided and it was a very poor experience
I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the sea fishing excursion I booked with your company on 15th February. My experience was not only disappointing but also completely unacceptable due to the unprofessional behavior of the captain and the disregard for our safety and comfort. During the excursion, the captain displayed blatant rudeness by ignoring our group for the duration of the trip and instead focusing his attention on four individuals who were not originally part of our booking. Despite our understanding that there would be only six people on the boat, the captain allowed these additional individuals to board without explanation or apology, effectively disrupting our planned experience. Moreover, the captain's unequal treatment of our group compared to the unauthorized guests was evident in various aspects of the trip. While he provided ample fishing equipment and guidance to the unauthorized guests, our group of six was left with inadequate resources and minimal instruction. This disparity extended to the choice of fishing location, as he placed us in a cold and dangerous area of the boat while favoring the unauthorized guests with a safer spot. Furthermore, I am appalled by the captain's reckless disregard for the safety of our group, particularly considering that we had two children on board. Despite this, he callously assigned us to a dangerously exposed area of the boat while favoring the unauthorized guests with a safer and more secure spot. This blatant disregard for the well-being of our children is not only unacceptable but also poses a serious safety risk. Moreover, the unequal distribution of fishing equipment further compounded our dissatisfaction. While the unauthorized guests were provided with four fishing rods to accommodate their group of four, our group of six was inexplicably allocated only three fishing rods. This unjust disparity not only hindered our ability to fully participate in the fishing activity but also highlighted the captain's biased treatment towards the unauthorized guests who were not supposed to be on our boat in the first place. It is evident that the captain's actions were not only unprofessional but also unethical, and I demand immediate action to address these grievances and ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future. Furthermore, I must express my dismay at the captain's complete lack of assistance and guidance when members of our group successfully caught fish. Despite our excitement and anticipation, the captain chose to ignore us and provided no assistance whatsoever, forcing us to handle the catch and set up the equipment ourselves. This disregard for basic customer service and support further added to the overall disappointment and frustration of our experience. Additionally, the captain's refusal to allow us to take our caught fish back, citing a minor delay of 15 minutes as justification, is utterly unjust and unacceptable. It is outrageous that our group, including two children, was penalized for a trivial delay, especially considering the overall substandard experience we endured. I demand a prompt and satisfactory resolution to this matter, including appropriate compensation for the unacceptable treatment we received. Furthermore, I expect measures to be taken to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future and to uphold the standards of professionalism and customer service that your company claims to prioritize. We refuse to pay any fees and demand a refund of all costs for all six of us. In addition, we demand an apology from the captain for his rude behavior and disregard for our safety. I look forward to your prompt response and resolution of this matter.
Save your money! It’s not what it looks like nor what they advertise. First of all, it’s not a yacht, it’s a small filthy and smelly boat. There are zero instructions nor directions as to what we’re doing or where we’re headed. The skipper is pretty rude. The boat doesn’t fit 11 but 6 people are best. There’s no seating for everyone. Overall a horrible experience and an expensive one. I blame Viator for selling experiences without knowing or any verification whatsoever. I also called Viator customer service and the girl that answered couldn’t get past her script. Zero customer service from Viator.
As the weather during the day was horrible and cloudy, the company actually offered me an alternative to take a night cruise on their catamaran to try and catch the lights if possible. We jumped at the chance...so glad we did. The lights cooperated just a little bit through the camera but not really with the eye....just too cloudy....the skipper did his best for us though trying to get us to a clearer location...the weather didn't cooperate but the other folks on board were brilliant and great having a chat with as well ..all in all 5 stars for the Captain and the really nice catamaran that was used...the next day we got lucky and were able to see an amazing Northern Lights display on a bus trip...the weather is just a roll of the dice and this captain and this company did as much as they could to help us out. I would definitely go with them again...they were absolutely top notch and even flexible which was a very nice gesture on their part as they did not have to do it, but did anyway.
Captain was great! There were 3 of us, we went out to see the Northern Lights, we got to see them from this awesome boat ride. Also was served fresh caught fish soup and it was so good! I'm so glad we were able to do this tour.
Nice, friendly and beautiful arctic tour that included fishing and yummy homemade fresh catch soup.
We had a nice cruise in Tromso fjord of three hours aroundmidnight. Because we did not leave the fjord to more open see, we could not enjoy the sun dipping to the horizon. En that was what the trip was about :-( And cruising only in the fjord up and down was actually quite boring... We booked a nice catamaran Arctic Queen with the expectation that the cruise would involve some sailing as well, but in stead we were taken on board a motoryacht. Another disappointment. A highlight was the fish soup that the skipper had prepared. It was really good! All in all: OK, but definitely not worth the money.
Embarking on the Arctic cruise in Norway was an awe-inspiring journey that left us with an unforgettable experience. The pristine beauty of the icy landscapes and breathtaking fjords was a sight to behold, making every moment feel like a scene from a surreal painting. Captain Larsen was our expert guided and taught us how to fish. It was so wonderful to be able to catch and see the fish up close, creating unforgettable memories. The luxurious accommodations and impeccable service onboard elevated the entire experience to a five-star level, leaving us with a profound appreciation for the stunning wonders of the Arctic and the magic of Norway's natural wonders. Thank you very much, Captain Larsen! We hope to come back in the near future.
Per S. Larson is genuine, kind and has good stories and photos to share. He can run the boat while pulling fish hooks from the mouths of small ones, while cooking up a tasty fish chowder, and taking our safety seriously. He helped us earlier in the day when a catamaran tour left without us, even though we showed up early. A long, sad story. Per called them for us, and tried to help. I then went on line and was happy to find availability on this adventure the same day. It is a bit more expensive that the catamaran tour that failed us, but you get what you pay for and this was well worth it. Only 10 people on our boat made for a relaxing, fun time. My husband even caught 3 fish. It wasn’t supposed to be a fishing trip but it morphed into one to accommodate some tourists who missed their fishing trip earlier in the day. A lot of trips gone awry, but Per is doing his part to make up for disappointed tourists from other boating companies. When I left he was chatting with another tourist while he cleaned up the boat. You can tell he likes his job and is good at it.
This boat tour is an excellent way to see Tromsø from a different perspective and to take in the spectacular surroundings. Captain Larson is very experienced with the boat and the fjord, very knowledgeable about Tromsø and Norway, and very personable. He also prepared the best fish soup using fish caught that day, absolutely delicious!
Fantastic trip with a skilled and very nice captain. The boat was very presentable and we had a safe and pleasant experience.
An unforgettable cruise under the sun. Amazing views. Fishing for the first time, 2 cods ! The fish soup was of course the best ever ( Per doesn’t want to give the secret of the recepie 😂) Thanks for this afternoon !
An amazing experience with Artic Cruise. They were very kind and warm. We saw whales, eagles and other animals. We fished and took a lot of photos. Thank you for this experience we would love to come back for the northern lights !
Great day fishing on the arctic queen. Per Larsen the skipper was very nice and told me a lot about the wildlife and Tromso itself! Also great fishing and I caught easily enough Cod for food for the entire holiday. Thanks, Liam
Great experience sailing through the Tromso Fjord, enjoyed the scenery, fishing and entire tour with Per very much!
Had a lovely time onbaord - weather was not too good but Per made our trip very enjoyable - Locally caught cod cooked for us was gorgeous - made us feel very welcome and Per was full of stories.
We had a very pleasant day on the Arctic Queen. The vessel was impressive, clean and spacious for the six passengers that day. The skipper, Kal was friendly and informative and made a delicious fish soup for lunch. We saw numerous wonderful orca whales, but even though Kal was very persistent (searching till dusk) unfortunately we didn’t see humpbacks. Better luck next time! Would definitely recommend this cruise.
Definitely NOT RECOMMENDED traveling with this company, they don't care about customers' feelings, they only care about money. I booked a fishing group on the morning of February 7th. the weather was really bad. Most similar tours have been cancelled. They still continue to go to sea, but due of the strong wind, the boat was very bumpy, we didn’t do anything, There was no fish soup, no sea fishing, nobody speaking anything about the city or about the fishing with us . my son and I could only bumpy on the boat for two hours, and we didn’t really seen the scenery because we had seasick. My accidentally opened the life jacket in the middle, I told the captain and said sorry to him. The captain yelled at us and asked us to pay for it. I told him I’m totally ok to pay just asking if it can be cheaper but why he had such an attitude towards us, why he yelled at me in front of my six-year-old child, my son was crying after that. It made me appear to have a bad attitude in front of my son too... in the end I Give him the credit card and let him swipe as much as he likes, he swiped 400. During the whole trip, the captain didn’t smile at all, didn’t saying hi or welcome to us, didn’t really told us how to use the life jacket, didn’t spoke anything about Tromsø. I called his boss seemed the boss didn’t really care what happened. It definitely the worst tour I had in my life. we booked a small group of four, Tesla your with them They changed it into a seven-person van group without our consent, we saw a little bit of the aurora. The tour guide with the boss too he took a group photo with the aurora for all of us in the same group and said that he will send photos to us when we got back to the hotel. In the end I also received their photos, but for all other people’s pictures in the group. but without even one photo of me and my son, What a day! My son and I had one fishing tour and one northern light tour with them. paid more than 600 euros and we got a such rubbish service! During the fishing trip, the captain didn’t smile at all, didn’t saying hi or welcome to us, didn’t really told us how to use the life jacket, didn’t spoke anything about Tromsø. My son accidentally opened the life jacket in the middle, I told the captain and said sorry to him. The captain yelled at us and asked us to pay for it. I told him I’m totally ok to pay just asking if it can be cheaper but why he had such an attitude towards us, why he yelled at me in front of my six-year-old child, my son was crying after that. I called his boss seemed the boss didn’t really care what happened. I looked online there’s more than 5 reviews saying the captain Per-Larsen yelled or speak very bad to customers. And his boss Kurt is only trying defending his company and his captain Per Larsen. Only says it’s because of the weather or just not good luck. Or it’s just because the customer has bad behavior. Look at his reply for the review, he was saying like it’s the customers fault, some of the customers said somebody wanted to create problems. So funny right?? He wrote something similar like me and my son had bad behavior “Some even said you should have been set back on the quay and not allowed to come onboard at all. You actually was a reason that the other guests also feel unhappy on your behaf..”for them of course it’s always the customers’ fault! Of course he will never fire Per Larsen, because the manager is Kurt Larsen, they’re from the same family ! This is why after so many people responded to various problems of their company and the character of the captain, they did not make any improvement, but every time they defended the captain again and again, usually he attacked the customers who responded to the problem, and said every time he tried the best, he can always say it's because of the weather they can't control or just because the customer has bad behavior. But for me. As a mother, I always trying my best to be nice with people to be a good model for my son. But when somebody shouted loud in front of us when some thing happened I was really heartbroken and mad. I really had to defend myself and my son. I yelled him back. And the other 2 customers saw when I yelled him back but they didn’t seem the whole story. I will never shout at people first but if people shout at me I can’t stay calm! I travelled more than 20 countries it’s the first time I have ever seen a travel company gave service like this! Anyway. Never go back again with them even if there’s a free trip. Maybe not go back to Norway again because of the bad memories because of them!
We had a tour on Januray 21th at noontime. After half an hour we had a stop for fishing with vertical lines. Most of us had fish contact and we got some caoital cods on bord. Then we cruised to a calmy bay and the skipper prepared the fish for soup which was excellent for an onbord kitchen. On the way back we had two more stops, the second one very near to the city of Tromsoe was tremendous. We catched some very good cods of 70 cm lenght and were happy as fishermen. This tour is recommedable for anyone who wants to fish cods in the fjord near Tromsoe.
I took part in a fishing trip. The landscape was amazing and the fish soup was delicious. But the skipper Per S Larsen was very unpolite to young women. He deliberately touched my hand when passing things and teaching me how to fish. I noticed that he didn't touch the hands of male guests at the same occasion. I didn't made reaction on the spot because I didn't want to spoil the fun of the trip. I know that this kind of thing is easy to be refused to acknowledge, but I have to say it out.
Pers was an outstanding captain and the boat was very comfortable. We truly enjoyed the quick stops for fishing, even caught a few. Extremely knowledgeable and personable, making the cruise very warm and inviting.
What a night! Our Captain Per was delightful! He regaled us with stories of Norway and history, provided a delicious assortment of snacks and drinks. He had everything we needed onboard to keep warm and dry. The boat was beautiful and fully equipted for a very comfortable journey. He also knows a "Magic Dance" to conjure the Aurora 😉, and it worked! I have had numerous Aurora chasing tours, both on land and water. This was by far the best experience, with the perfect Captain.
The Arctic Queen was an excellent choice for our very first time seeking the northern lights in iconic Tromso harbour, with city one one side, the bridge and the Arctic Cathedral on the other. Our captain was passionate about the Northern Lights and ensured that we were safe, warm, and ready for the night’s sail. We did get to see and learn about the lights. We photographed them, made friends with the other couple on board and had an absolutely magical evening on the harbour. I would do it again in a flash. Don’t miss this one.
I had a truly amazing experience cruising through the fjords around Tromso on a solo trip with Per. Per is a really fun and entertaining skipper & host who went out of his way to accommodate a schedule change on my side and then customized the trip to make it memorable. He took time to introduce me to navigating and steering the catamaran, taught me how to fish and in the end made a delicious fish soup with our catch. He also had great stories to share and tips for restaurants and other places to see in Tromso afterwards. Overall a fantastic trip and end to my week in Norway! I can highly recommend a tour with this company - I will be back for sure!
Captain Per was very friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable on the nature and history of Tromso. He makes amazing cos soup and even let us try a little cod fishing. He kept the boat still for a little longer until I caught my own cod! It was a great experience and I highly recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing view of the Fjords.
Our captain Pers was outstanding, especially his famous fish soup, and energetic personality. More importantly for us however was that he called me and guided me to the boat after our delayed flight almost caused us to miss the trip. For that, we are incredibly grateful to him. Thanks Pers.
The trip was fantastic with a fantastic snack and drinks. The weather also was very nice and quite. I suggest this cruise to explore the fjord around Tromsø
Lovely experience. Relaxing. Stunning scenery. Great atmosphere with everyone on board. The homemade fish soup was yummy and you get snacks - chips/crisps and chocolate on board. The Captain Per was humble, nice and had so many interesting stories. The tour was also very professional. He has been doing this particular activity for several years and boating his whole life and you can tell he knows what he is doing. Thank you for a fantastic trip.
Everything was perfect! The boat captain was very friendly and the fish soup was amazing, my baby daughter kept asking for more!
The cruise was beautiful and the yacht was super comfortable. I'd absolutely do it again. Based on chats with some fellow travelers, this seems to be one of the best fjord cruises in Tromso.
Very Nice trip!! And very nice Yacht!! Very wonderfull navigation with the captain. Good Travel!! The soup that the captain prepared is very delicious!!
Knowledgeable and friendly host Per did a great job. Only 3 people on the trip and a very nice yacht.
In a precious sunny Sunday, we weigh anchor in the direction of Tromso islands and surrondings in the luxury yacht Artic Queen. Kurtz was the captain of the ship, and made our three hours excursion just unforgettable. It was very easy to share with him local facts, while he was mastering the yacht in a very pleasant way. We tryed to fish our lunch, but this time we were not lucky. He manage -anyway- to prepare a really yummy fish soup. I would absolutely recomend to enjoy this excursion, his boat, and his company. Thank you for the pictures Kurtz, and very good luck with all your projects.
