We must have been v unlucky with our skipper because others who have had Kurt, the owner, enjoyed it. Our skipper was unfriendly, unwelcoming and slightly intimidating. Received no information freely from him about the area (had to ask everything when we were inside having soup); felt pressured to have the soup. Did no fishing, not even suggested. Worst part of our trip to Norway.

Great experience gorgeous scenery well informed skipper
A waterproof outer layer is a must for starters. The emphasis was more on fishing than touring fjords, to hopefully provide at least one caught cod for the fish chowder the captain prepares on board. On this 3 hour tour you basically cruise Tromso’s harbor. Nevertheless, the scenery is spectacular despite it being essentially dark on a January afternoon.
My family and I had an incredible experience on board. Skipper Per was extremely professional and kind. We managed to catch a few cod and enjoyed the freshest, most delicious fish soup. Even though the weather wasn't ideal for sightseeing, Skipper Per made the trip fulfilling by sharing his passion for the area and telling us Norwegian folk stories. My 9-year-old son says it was the best activity of our trip to Tromsø. It was a welcome break from our city life in Singapore. The boat is stable, clean and well mantained. There is a toilet on board. Light refreshments including hot beverages were provided. Overall we rate it 5 out of 5. Highly recommended
Fabulous morning on a beautiful fjord. We explored on a magnificent katamaran skippered by a knowledgeable and friendly captain. Marvellous experience and we caught our own lunch!
The very wellcomming Captain, Per. Stories round Tromso , fishing and eating fantastic fishsoup. Thank‘s for wonderful Hours Ruth you Per👍
mine was a last minute thing... and it was awesome! the kindness, professionalism and care were outstanding and... well.. the sea there is a show itself! this is likely one of best and most original way to enjoy Tromso and the surroundings!
we had a great tour in the evening on october 8th in the bay of Tromsø. we had hoped to see the northern ligt, but the sky was too cloudy. we had a lovely seafood meal onboard and a very pleasant evening with the skipper. we highly recommend the experience
i would HIGHLY suggest this excursion. Per, our skipper, was brilliant - he took amazing care of us, fed us amazing fun facts about the area and made this trip absolutely brilliant. i have never seen anything so beautiful as this arctic landscape from the water. would highly HIGHLY recommend
Hospitable captain, hot beverages and soup offered. Beautiful seascape - sailed on a foggy rainy day. Not really far from the city of Tromso.
We enjoy a beautiful evening with Jerome in his beautiful catamaran. We strongly recommend him as an experience sailor and a magnificent guide. We would repeat. The views were unforgettable.
I would highly recommend the cruise due to fantastic views and unforgettable atmosphere on the catamaran. The cruise is relaxing, quite slow and on the flat see, so don't be afraid of sea sickness (as I was). Due to happy coincidence I was the only participant of the cruise. Per, the Capitain took me through the islands around Tromso and to the Tirpitz wreck. I was really amazed with his hospitality and professionalism. The fish soup was very delicious!
It was a low speed (5 knots) cruise in the vicinity of the harbour, i. e. not very likely way to observe marine life. At the end the speed was even more reduced (to 2 knots) so that the captain could prepare fish soop for the passengers, which was really not what we had hoped for !
I would highly recommend this excursion! The views were amazing and the fishing was so much fun. Our guide even offered to cook us some of the fish that we caught.
I had the most wonderful time on board. Kurt is the perfect host and above all a great captain. I really really enjoy my boattrip on his catamaran LAGOON 450! I will never forget how i enjoyed this wonderfull sailing tour in the spectacular Fjords of Tromso. I really recommed this to people which will visit Tromso! If you love boats, sailing, water, snow and wonderful views... don't miss this opportunity when you are visiting Tromso!
we did a cruise of three hours in the afternoon of last March, 2nd, in the middle of winter in a very sunny day. We were 12 people with captain Dimitry. He took care of all of us. He was very nice, lending us warm clothes and cooking a nice fish soup. The trip was fantastic, We recommend it strongly! It was too short for us!
After our original tour was cancelled last minute we went to the Tourist information centre who booked us on an afternoon three hour cruise. It turned out to be just me and my husband so we had the tour to our self. Our guide was helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. We opted to sit outside at the front and we're so glad we did. The timing was perfect and we got go watch the sunset. We felt truly privileged to be in such a beautiful place together. After an hour we went to seek sanctuary back inside and listened to our guide tell is about life in Tromso with the changing seasons. As it got dark we ventured back outside again and watched Tromso start to light up making for a lovely way to end the boat ride. Highly recommend this company who didn't mind taking just us out. Thank you!!
We visited Tromso in October for a work conference and had a day off to explore. Initially we had signed up for one of the other boats, but because it was the shoulder season and a bit quiet, they shifted us over to the catamaran with Kurt. When we arrived we learned we were the only two that would be going out. In most places I would have expected the trip to be canceled, but Kurt said he was happy to take us out. The Arctic Princess is a beautiful, well maintained catamaran and Kurt was a gracious host. My husband and I had a wonderful time and were pinching ourselves that it was just us onboard. Kurt was a great guide and explained the local waterways and some of the history. He made us a simple but fantastic soup that was nice on a slightly chilly day. The views are marvelous and Kurt made sure we were comfortable. He is an able mariner and sailed the boat on his own with ease. I've read a few other reviews and saw one where the reviewer said this was not a luxury cruise. Granted people have different standards, but coming from someone who has thousands of ocean miles under their belt, I thought some of the reviewers were a bit whiny. The catamaran is the newest in Tromso and while it could be a bit chilly, I think it's also important to remember you are in Norway above the Arctic Circle. Kurt offers charter beyond the day sails and it seems like such an amazing experience if you have time to take advantage of cruising and living aboard for a few days. This was a highlight of our time in Norway.
We had an excellent afternoon on the Arctic Princess catamaran. Travelling as a group of 8 (4 adults, 4 children) we were instantly made to feel welcome on board and the Captain even offered to let the children drive the boat! Fully weather proof suits were offered which kept us toasty warm out on the deck, and during the afternoon we were served a delicious home made fish soup made freshly on the boat. The captain was friendly and knowledgeable, offering lots of information on the beautiful sights around. A truly memorable afternoon which we would 100% recommend.
Cruising with Kurt on his fantastic Catamaran was a great Experience for my husband, my daughter and me. He is so friendly and he told us so many interesting Storys, that the time was running like the wind. And his Fish Soup was absolutely perfect. We enjoyed the Trip very well. We'd come back to Norway, Tromsö and Kurt.
Cruising the fjords was excellent with beautiful vista everywhere we looked. This was not a luxury cruise. On a very cold blustery day there was minimal heat in the cabin for warmth. The cabin was cluttered and had previously cooked food sitting on the stove.
The ship, the cruise, the views, the experience, ... everything was perfect; but the captain even better; the best; a fabulous day; we'll repeat in the future; sure!!!!!
We were warmly welcomed by Kurt on his catamaran. We booked a tour starting at 2 pm that took about 3 hours. We were equipped with a thermal suit. After some safety instructions Kurt showed us around on his boat. Inside we could find tea and cookies. Most of the time we were staying outside, because there was sunny weather and the windproof thermal suit kept us warm. Kurt explained many interesting things of the surroundings to us during the whole trip. The tour took us through fjords around small islands and bird sanctuaries. We enjoyed the wonderful winter landscape and sunset. On the way back to Tromsø we were served tasty hot tomato soup and bread (we booked vegetarian food). Kurt was an outstandig, friendly and helpful host and his boat was modern and clean. It was an amazing trip! We definitely recommend this tour.
First, it was a beautiful sunny day for sailing. We board the luxury catamaran, the Arctic Princess, very well kept and clean. Our skipper Thomas looked after us very well. There were hot drinks and snacks on the boat. We stopped for fishing and it was really fun catching the fish and Thomas cooked us delicious soup too. A memorable trip.
Kurt is an excellent skipper. We loved his catamaran. It was clean, well appointed, with plenty of room for multiple groups. A home cooked meal of fish soup while traveling on the fjords made for a wonderful day. I would not hesitate booking another tour with them.
Tomas looked after us very well. Had lovely soup and snacks. Atmospheric trip. Tomas sent us lovely photos but unfortunately they are too small to upload below. I don't know how to make bigger. They are fine for us to see.
The tour was a lot of fun. We actually caught several fish that were processed into soup right away. The guide was very helpful. The way back was very unsettled with suddenly strong waves. You have to be seaworthy.
