It was an amazing and unforgettable experience. Our guide, Anastacia, was amazing; she was on point about chasing the best spots! Very friendly and knowledgeable about how the Aurora Borealis is created. We saw the amazing northern lights in two different spots for more than 40 min each. Everything lined up for this to happen, starting with your amazing guide and bus driver! I highly recommend Best Artic

Itinerary
Our experienced guide will meet you at the bus & harbour terminal. Get ready for a 5 to 7 hour trip in the magical winter wonderland, in search of the Northern Lights. Dress warmly, we have warm wintersuits available. Or sit closely around our cosy bonfire (subject to weather conditions).
We will chase in the Troms region. Depending on the weather, and weather forecast we will travel out from the city. Some evenings we will be staying around the coast. Other evenings we will go towards inland. We have private camp locations all around the region, and we will sometimes use them, so we can stay at a private location instead of a shared parking lot with many other companies. These private locations also have toilets, which we can use.
At one point in the evening we will start returning back to the city. We will still be able to stop at some locations. If we get more northern lights we will stop.

Great experience wel done from Anatasia
Went with my family on the minibus aurora chase last night and it was fantastic. Our guide Juan was very knowledgeable and passionate, the minibus driver (Marty/martin?) was friendly and chatty too. We were incredibly lucky that Juan found the ideal spot for us where we saw the northern lights so clearly. You could see them dancing too. Our spot was so good that we didn’t have to move away from it at all! Such a fantastic experience
An excellent evening discovering the Northern Lights. Thanks to our guide Ambre, we spent nearly two hours watching an incredible show. Well done to Ambre and our fantastic driver Magnet (?).
We had an amazing experience doing the Northern Lights tour with Ambre and Magne! Both guides were very kind, professional and shared a lot of knowledge about the Northern Lights and the whole region. Also for the booking, we were assisted by Nancy, who explained to us all the details about the tour, the booking process and any other details required. The service experience was very professional and helpful. We saw the lights and it was a magical experience! Also, Ambre took some amazing pictures of us. We highly recommend booking this tour!
Anastasia was a sincere and friendly guide. She was very patient in explaining all the details about the northern lights and the tour. Despite the bad weather, we were lucky to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights (thanks to Anastasia's sincerity). She tried several other spots for another chance of viewing without luck. Overall, I recommend this tour.
I teach at the university in a master’s program in Natural Heritage. I teach a course in which we discuss the role that a tourist guide should have, especially in natural environments. On our excursion to discover the auroras, Isabella: • Planned and executed the route and activities impeccably. • Conveyed passion, sharing her enthusiasm and excitement. • Through her explanations, helped us understand the scientific interpretations and the historical, cultural, and traditional context of the auroras, turning every moment into a meaningful experience. A person dedicated to guiding must have certain qualities, abilities, and skills. Isabella was kind, authentic, sociable, friendly, confident, and well organized. In addition, she has excellent oral communication skills, with a very pleasant tone of voice and clear diction. Despite not being from Norway, she demonstrated strong knowledge of the subject, the territory, and the culture. Just one suggestion for the company: it would be good to create small posters with diagrams explaining the scientific origin of the auroras and the colours that can be seen, to briefly help complement the guides’ explanations. Our first night in Tromso was Friday, Jan. 16. We signed up with Best Arctic for a minibus tour about two weeks before we left. Aurora hunting is a game of chance. You have to have clear skies, solar activity in the right direction and orientation and various other factors. So we decided to sign up for aurora tours for six straight nights with various companies. We were lucky on the aurora part our very first night. Dancing greens with a hint of red. Ambre (guide) added to the experience with her stories, explanations and, most of all, enthusiasm. Magne (driver) was very safe on the icy roads. Best of all, they found a spot well off the road--away from traffic--with wonderful landscape.
I do not recommend booking with this company, even less if it’s last minute. They don’t give you any option to cancel if you book a day before. I booked not even 24 hours before and asked for a refund because the forecast is not good and they did not care. There are other, more responsible, companies who give you the option of canceling if the forecast is not good. It’s ridiculous that they say you have to cancel 48hrs before if the booking wasn’t even made 48hrs before, and they did not warn me this when I was booking at the counter.
My birthday was on December 23, and on that day I went with you on the Northern Lights tour. A photographer took pictures of me during the trip. I paid for the photos as well, but on the website there are only 4 photos from December 23. Could you please explain where the rest of the photos are? I would also like to understand why my photos (or the photos of other guests) were not uploaded, while only those 4 photos were selected. It feels unfair, as I also paid for this service. Additionally, I would like to mention that the food tasted like cleaning detergent, which was quite unpleasant. At the same time, I want to say that the guide was very good, the bus was comfortable, and we were lucky to see the Northern Lights ✨ I would appreciate your clarification regarding the photos.
This is our first visit to Norway and the Northern Lights tour was the first excursion we had booked. Anastasia was the perfect guide and was absolutely determined to find the perfect location for us. Her persistence paid off and we were blessed with the most magnificent display of lights, the best of the season so far (as described by Anastasia). Thank you for an amazing evening, we will never forget this experience!!
This is an honest review of our Northern lights tour with Best Arctic on December 2nd 2025. We got picked up in a small mini bus (maybe an 18 seater) for our Safari Northern Lights tour (6.45pm to 1.45am) Our guide Amber greets us all and off we went. 20 to 25 minutes into the tour, we stopped in what was a little car park and managed to see some faint Northern Lights. We continued on our journey for about another 1 and half to 2 hours on the mini bus, and Amber has not stopped talking from the moment we got on. Don't get me wrong, she is a lovely young lady, but boy can she talk....for nearly a whole 5 and a half hours non stop, there and back. On our 2nd stop, we were told I think that we were going into a house so people could get changed into thermal suits. But NO, we end up down a snow covered road. We're led to believe that we would be sitting round a camp fire, but NO, Amber gets out something that resembled a Wok but without the handle. The fire in the Wok was eventually lit and here we stood with Amber talking for the next 3 hours while looking for Northern Lights. With no lights, Amber said I'm now going to make you all a nice drink and cook you some food. Well, we got vending machi e cardboard cups with either coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Now for the cooking....we got something that resembled army packet or astronaut packed food with hot water poured into it......and this is cooking ????? It was terrible. We board the bus to go back to Tromso at about 12.30am hoping that we might all get a bit of sleep....but NO. Yes you guessed it, Amber was chatting again all the way home again. The trip, the road side location and the so called food was VERY VERY POOR and was not worth the money. I state yet again, Amber was a very friendly young lady that tried to give us information about Norway, but we also ended up learning all about her and our driver. What a waste of money and I would advise to avoid at all costs. You've been warned
My experience with Best Arctic for the Northern Lights Minibus Chase was profoundly disappointing and unacceptable. This tour was the main reason for our trip to Tromsø, and the company completely failed to deliver the service promised, especially for the premium price of the flexible minibus option. On November 30th, 2025, our guide made the decision to take us to a convenient, well-known "camp" instead of actively chasing the Aurora. Despite assurances that the guides were in constant contact with other agencies for real-time information, this clearly was not the case. The absolute proof of this failure is that friends of ours, who booked with a different company on the exact same night, were driven slightly further away and managed to see the Northern Lights beautifully and clearly. While we understand the Aurora is a natural phenomenon, when other companies successfully drive to the correct location and you do not, the responsibility lies squarely with the poor planning and lack of effort from the tour operator. We paid a higher price for the minibus expecting flexibility and more options to "chase" the lights, but were instead taken to the path of least resistance for the guides. This lack of effort and poor judgment is inexcusable and ruined a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us. Adding to the poor on-the-night service, the post-tour customer support regarding a requested full refund has been extremely unsupportive and slow, further demonstrating a severe lack of commitment to customer satisfaction. We trusted the positive reviews, but it appears they are very misleading. Based on our poor experience, the misleading promises, and the lack of professional service or support, we absolutely do not recommend Best Arctic to anyone looking for a quality Northern Lights experience. Book with a company that truly chases the Aurora.
Jenka our guide is amazing with her knowledge. She took care us very well. There was a soup and hot chocolate during the camp fire. Luckily, on the way back we found another aurora.
Our guide Rabi was excellent! Not only did he give us the history of Tromso but he also took us to see the Northern lights in places where no other tour buses were there. Unique and plenty of photos taken. The whole family loved it.
Our guide was fantastic going beyond expectations in search of the northern lights despite it being extremely cloudy we managed to find a window to see some activity. Extremely happy with everything about this outing.
Tour was fantastic, the guide Mile well experienced and explained everything about Aurora Borealis.Thank you Mile. Firework, hot chocolate and the soup altogether great memories.
Perfectly clear night and amazing northern lights! Camp was rustic but great, soup was warm, my teen boys loved it, and we got amazing pictures!! We know we were very lucky because the sky’s were so clear but it was a trip highlight for sure!!!
THE RECEPTIONISTS WERE VERY FRIENDLY, THE TOUR GUIDES WERE AMAZING, THE HOT SOUP/DRINK WERE VERY WELCOMING, THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TOUR GUIDES WAS EXZCELLENT, EXPLAINING HOW TO USE CAMERAS/PHONES TO TKE PICTURES
We took a trip with our two kids, age 6 and 4. It was a wonderful experience! It's late at night, so rest up, and it is COLD, so layer up! The team provides snow suits, but it would be good to bring layers, good gloves, boots, and good head coverage. They provided good gluten free options for our celiac needs too. The place we stopped was about 1.5 hours from Tromso. We made a fire, and took turns in and out of the van (we did a private Minibus tour) to keep warm. They provide free photos (watermarked) and priced photos (hi-res, no watermark). Our guide was Kinga and I HIGHLY recommend asking for her. She was fantastic!! One of the office workers named Ver Bjorn was also on our trip as our driver. He was also friendly and wonderful to get to know. This group will be back on our list next time we're in Tromso.
Anastasia was an AMAZING guide, her expertise really shone through and a night that started incredibly cloudy and had us all having little expectation of seeing anything did end up with us seeing the Northern Lights! Such is the nature of the beast this was all very touristy and I imagine there are more intimate feeling tours available (at one point us and about 5 other vans were all at the same petrol station!) But a good night and we saw the lights, but can't praise Anastasia enough for her commitment!
Trip was mediocre. We went in a van with not too many other guests. The guide was nice enough and very enthusiastic but her explanations felt very mediocre. It didn't feel like we were given an experience guide but some college student making summer money. The company had a place were we went into to have some hot drinks and soup from a can. Very disappointing. In comparison with other Northern chase we took, this was the less exciting. It felt very commercial like.
This is my first time for aurora chasing. Really great experience. The guide (Fabian), she is really nice and friendly with kindly take care for us. Complete my bucket list!! Thank a lot.
I booked a transfer from the airport to Tromso Town Centre. This was way in advance and I paid extra for cancellation. My mistake, I booked a round trip for the same day which is easily done as this is the default on the website. 10 minutes after booking I realised what I had done. Even though you pay extra for refundable tickets, you have to apply for the refund. Read the small print! Accidental bookings are not refunded. I booked 4 months in advance and only wanted one way refunding for my extra payment for refundable tickets. I only booked refundable as an extra in case one of the party chose a different route. So the extra cost for refundable tickets - don't bother and again, read the small print because make a mistake, no refund. You have to prove you are unable to travel - whatever that involves.
Absolutely fantastic tour!! From the moment we enquired at the Radisson Blu check in desk as to the latest time the tour would end – we had a deadline to get back to our cruise ship! – to the “race” to find the lights, to the campsite where we saw the Northern Lights, everything worked like clockwork. Anastasia was a most helpful and informative guide, telling us how and why the Lights are formed and keeping us updated on possible sightings as our journey progressed and giving us tips on camera settings when the magic started. The drinks and snacks in the cozy atmosphere of the heated cabin at the viewing site were most welcome, as were the comfort breaks on the route out and back to Tromso!! The mini bus was modern, clean and comfortable and the driver – sorry pal, I’ve forgotten your name! – was most accommodating and on the way back dropped us at the cruise terminal first to ensure we were back on board before sailing time – THANK YOU.
Very complete tour! I recommend it a lot. You go where the possibilities are and the explanations of our guide Margot where too good. She was lovely and take us a lot of photos. And also there is a stop to eat warm soup
We have the best time with the Aurora Minibus tour with Kinga!!!! The weather was very challenging to say the least. It was raining almost everywhere, but Kinga was able to find the right gap, we stayed for 2 hours, and Lady Aurora put a show on for us. Kinga is very knowledgeable, patient, explained to everyone how to set the cameras, gave lots of info about Tromso and the Northern Lights. Thank you!
Enrico was amazing and Marca gave us a lot of info too-wonderful experience with this group! Would do it again for sure and recommend this service because we could sit inside and come out to the cold when we chose to
Almost everyone who takes a northern lights tour knows that the chances of seeing them do not depend on the agency but on nature, however motivation is essential in these types of trips. The driver was very friendly, however our guide was very basic, he gave us the minimum instructions at the beginning of the trip, about cell phones and cameras, basic explanation about the tour or the northern lights, minimal information about what we would do. During the trip he spoke the minimum and essential and always mentioning the high probability of not seeing the auroras. Whether or not you see the auroras does not depend on the agency or the guide, but motivation or at least knowing more about the experience would be much better.
Sonia was so great. Friendly, focused on finding us the perfect spot to see the green lady. The pictures were really good as well. Highly recommended!!
left half hour late. at 12:30am once the lights became even more minimal, hung around a fire for an hour rather than heading home
Very enjoyable minibus tour lasting over five hours giving us maximum opportunity to see the Northern Lights. Our tour guide Anastasia and driver Andreas were both very friendly and informative. Nothing was too much trouble for them from taking photographs to preparing the camp fire on the beach on our third and final stop. We were so lucky with the weather and blessed to see the spectacular Northern Lights..A must do excursion on your visit to Tromsø.
Wonderful and funny guide, very knowledgeable. Rekha is the best. We had a lovely time with everyone. Though we could see partial northern lights but the tour was good.. Thanks Arctic Tours ..
We had Fabian as our guide last night and we had a great time. Unfortunately the weather was not in our favour but he did all that he could to help us see the lights, with multiple stops and even driving to the Finnish border. We definitely experienced a real chase. We were provided with hot chocolate, tea, coffee and snacks ☕️ We still had a lot of fun though, and we would definitely book with Best Arctic again if we come back! ❄️🤍
Sonia, our guide, was just awesome. The weather was cloudy, but she tried hard to find northern lights, and she found it. When she found it, she gave us enough time to enjoy it. We came back at 3:30 am. We had great pictures.
Considering the conditions, it was a successful trip! The tour guide and driver were super knowledgeable and drove us to where they thought the best spot would be. And they were right! We expected to see nothing due to the cloud cover but thankfully, the forecasts they had consulted were right and we got a good break in the cloud and saw green! The lights weren’t dancing but they were definitely visible through the camera and we managed a few photos!
The trip was well organised and our guide was excellent - she was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about Tromso and the northern lights. The mini-bus was also very comfortable and luxurious. Unfortunately luck was against us, and the lights did not appear on the night we were out, despite it being a clear night. However our guide and driver did their best to find a spot where we could see them - we drove 2 hours to the border with Sweden and Finland. Despite not seeing the lights, which was obviously disappointing, it was still a magical experience.
Our guide on this lights chase was Juan from Spain. The tour was well organised and professionally run. The bus and equipment all excellent. However, what really set this tour apart was the knowledge, diligence and friendliness of the tour guide, Juan. Though it was a freezing -28* Juan kept us all safe, and made sure we had an enjoyable and comfortable experience. His knowledge, experience and determination ensured we got to see a spectacular showing of the lights in a great location. He took great photos of us all and kept us going with fire, food and hot drinks. I honestly couldn’t recommend this tour and the guide especially, more highly. A first rate experience with a top guide. Thank you, Juan, for helping us tick off this bucket list wish.
Seeing and photographing the northern lights! The guide and driver were very informative and kind. I would go on this tour again.
Seeing the Northern Lights for the first time was amazing. Our tour guide Tomas went out of his way to make the night magnificent. We went on Friday January 25th and if anyone could share how I could get the pictures Tomas took of me and my friends I would greatly appreciate it.
Very nice information on what to look out for with the mini bus tour. We got lucky and got to see the northernlights, the tour guide was lovely and the campfire with hot drinks were a nice touch.
One of the best experience. Organized to the perfection. Guides were really awesome and helpful.. Photos that were taken by our guides of us looked fantastic..
👍👍👍👍 absolutely amazing Special Show 26/11/23 Concert 🎵 in the Air Lights truly danced 👍👍👍👍👍👍🤩 Thank you Best Artic Anthonyspiteri
It was so good. We didn’t think we’d get to see the lights as we didn’t our while we was in tromso city. On the tour we seen them so strong. The tour guide was lovely too, (Jacob). And the driver was nice
Seeing Northern lights in 2 locations. Guide was very informed and though the northern lights weren’t as intense as we expected, it’s a natural unpredictable phenomenon. The guides did their best to make it special. Cabin where we stayed waiting was very small and many had to stand so that could be improved
Awesome view.I will come back Again on December.Unbelievable trip,it's crazy and the guide is so kind.
Our guide and driver were lovely as were the group we travelled with but no Northern lights to be seen. Saw a reindeer though.
We had a wonderful experience with Paolo and Andreas as our guides. They went above and beyond throughout the trip to share their knowledge and their enthusiasm about the surroundings. We had a tour with a different company the night before and can't believe how much better value this was. It's shocking they get away with charging similar prices for such a different experience. Highly recommend! Thank you Paolo, Andreas, Rosie and everyone for putting so much love and care into this experience.
Lorenzo and Alex were excellent guides and eventually found us some lights to see. Brilliant trip and well worth getting cold for!!
Sebastian was a very seasoned and knowledgeable guide. He played a pivotal role in our ability to see the Northern Lights despite cloudy conditions.
