This was a perfect tour for those looking to enjoy the nature and scenery that Northern Norway has to offer, from seeing reindeer if you are lucky enough to see them roaming, to the beautiful beaches of Sommarøy. The views were excellent and so was the guide, which was Ørjan, he kept us entertained and gave us great stories about his first hand experience and families experiences of Norway and how it has changed throughout the eras. I would definitely recommend to anyone interested in nature with the Fjords and Sommarøy being the key highlights.

Just finished an incredible day trip to Kvaloya island on Oct 5. Our guide Orjan gave great, detailed commentary and took such good care of everyone. We were really impressed with how thoughtful he was, also enjoyed the sharing of the stories. The warm lunch picnic at Sommaroy was fantastic. Huge thanks to him. Highly recommended!!!
Orjan, the tour operator was great Local and willing to share the cultural experiences He did well taking pictures as well
The tour itself was great and the guide was knowledgable, fun and friendly! But it seems there is a problem in communication betweeen viator and tour operator, similar with one of our other bookings as well via viator. So either it is a viator issue or an operational issue at the operator end. For example- no response on viator messages while trying to communicate with operator, difficult to locate based on instructions in viator, and no veg meal option despite viator listing it as a choice.
Orjan was an excellent driver and guide. He explained the plan and activities very clearly, our expectations were met with viewings of reindeer, fjords and wonderful landscape. Orjan shared insights of local life and some interesting history. The pace of the tour was very good. Our only disappointment was 'lunch' which was a bit light-on and consisted primarily of crackers, cookies and black tea/coffee.
The trip with Vin was wonderful. We loved everything we saw and even the Reindeer stew we had on our picnic! The only part we didn't like was finding we were not near where we were to meet. I made 3 requests asking where it was. When we arrived in port, I showed a local the address and were told we would have to take a taxi to get there. Having to incur additional costs of 235 krona, one way, was an uninspected cost. We use Vialor all over the world and this was a first for us. Very disappointed.
So beautiful and exceptional tour guide taking us to the most incredible locations. We loved his stories and knowledge
A great tour over islands to different fjords with magnificent views for great pics, with a knowlegable guide who had interesting explanations and stories to tell. We were on 17th of March, please send me the link for your pics, I am looking forward! ... you did a great job! Robby
Wonderful tour led by a great guide. Simon was friendly and welcoming from the very start of the tour. Itinerary was explained well at the start and at each stop he gave us lots of information about the area. He also took photos at each stop and took time to make sure everyone was happy and got photos taken in each stop. Photos were sent on via an email link in the evening and were really lovely. We didn't get to see much wildlife but I went with the mindset that it would be a bonus to see anything as wild animals are not predictable. The minibus was comfortable and there were plenty of stops, including a toilet stop after our hot drinks and pastries. A great way to spend a half day and would recommend.
We did the Arctic nature tour with Simon. He was a knowledgeable guide that was humorous too. He explained everything we were doing in the day and timings, so we knew when we were getting off the bus. He took us to some beautiful spots where we saw local culture and wild reindeer. We had a lunch stop of tea and cake which he brought with him. He took lovely photos of the scenery and of us all individually. A great photographer!
Absolutley amazing experience, Could nor recommend the tour high engouh. Once in a life time experience. The tour guide Bret an amazing and knowledgeable person. Full of passion and enthusiasim. Gret value for money amazing photography from Bret
Excellent tour through which we were able to see several gorgeous places on Kvaloya: fjords, inlets, mountains and beaches. Our tour guide Simon shared a lot of interesting information about Norwegian and Sami cultures. He also took very nice photos of participants. We were lucky enough to see some wildlife (seals, reindeer, white-tailed eagle). There was a nice lunch/snack break with pastries and warm drinks. The pacing and time was OK - I never felt rushed.
The tour was full of amazing views. Our tour guide Simon was great and very knowledgeable, he took us to his favourite spots to see beautiful fiords and beaches and he made sure to take pictures of everyone. We got lucky and we saw wild reindeers on the road. The norwegian pastry and the mocha were also very good. Definitely recommend ✨
We were recommended northern lights by some friends who had visited the year before and we’re so glad we took their advice. Harry our guide, was absolutely fantastic. Friendly, engaging and obviously passionate about the aurora, physics and photography. He took us to a wonderful spot with nobody else around and we saw the most amazing aurora! The campfire, sausages, hot drinks and cookies were perfect. The photographs he took are a stunning reminder of a wonderful evening! Thank you so much
A lovely trip. Simon was very friendly and knowledgeable. Saw some lovely scenic spots and learnt about the area and it's history. Unfortunately the wildlife didn't play ball but didn't take away from the trip. Had lovely hot drinks and pastries on the beach and followed up with some lovely photos.
Our tour was not interesting. We did not see any wildlife. Drove from one Fiord to another. I think that it was a waste of time and money
Our tour guide Simon was super friendly and knowledgeable and regaled us with lots of interesting and informative facts about the different locations and Norwegian and Sami culture. Simon stopped of at several different locations, allowing us to admire the view, take photos of the stunning scenery and at the same time pointing out any wildlife which on this occasion included seals and reindeer. There was always something interesting to observe on our trip and the tour flew by and was greatly enjoyed by myself and my grown up daughters. On our last stop we picnicked on the beach and it was very heart warming for myself to be provided with food which addressed my complex food allergy. I did not expect that and I have never had that level of service in the U.K. Thank you Simon for this and the lovely memories that we made. I thoroughly recommend Simon and this company for any trips to be made in Tromso.
Our trip was wonderful! We had an amazing guide who was so knowledgeable and provided fascinating details about the wildlife and lifestyle in the north of Norway. We didn’t see a lot of wildlife but the beautiful scenery and photo opportunities more than made up for it.
Simon was the best! We cannot thank him enough for such a fantastic Arctic tour. We had a brilliant time; not only he drove us to the best spots, but he also took amazing photos and was incredibly knowledgeable. Lush!
As an alternative to whale watching, we booked a minivan Artic Nature Tour organized by Northern Horizon. And it was certainly not a bad choice. At 10:00 AM, we left with our driver, guide Barbora, and 11 guests. The weather cooperated: dry and sunny. The tour took us through beautiful landscapes, and Barbora provided clear explanations of what we saw. We regularly got out of the minivan to enjoy the surroundings. A special highlight was the visit to the small monument commemorating the sinking of the German battleship Tirpitz during World War II. During the tour, Barbora took photos, which were available at the end of the day. Lunch was also special: enjoying coffee, hot chocolate, and cookies on chairs we brought with us, surrounded by nature, and watched by a white-tailed eagle flying overhead. We arrived back in Tromso around 4:00 PM. A very nice experience.
Simon and Northern Horizon did a great job on showing nature in the countryside surround Tromso. We had a great time. Would recommend the trip to anybody.
It was a great day. We did the Arctic Nature Tour. The guide tells a lot about everything and is enthusiastic. We have been to the most beautiful places. The guide also takes some beautiful pictures of you. A day to never forget! I definitely recommend booking an excursion here.
It was a wonderful experience. Barbora, our guide, and Martin, our driver, were fantastic and made everything easy for us, ensuring a very memorable day. We saw incredible places, and the tour is highly recommended.
Barbara was an excellent tour guide. She was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and took fantastic photos. I highly recommend this tour.
It's been a lovely experience with Simon. Beautiful scenery everywhere, tasty treats and good commentary. Not rushed. Friendly and fun guide.
Incredible time travelling through the beautiful fjords of Norway. We were lucky to have permanent sunrise, which gave stunning lighting. It reminded me of New Zealand but even more beautiful. Thank you especially to Barbora, who is a great person, she led up with charisma all morning, taking time to make sure everyone had the photos they wanted and taking some stunning professional photos of her own to share with the group. She kept saying “don’t be shy” which was very thoughtful, and much appreciated by the group, who were very thankful! Amazing day!
This was a great trip with so many amazing views. Barbara our guide and Peter our drive were fantastic sharing their knowledge and insight through the trip and Barbara took wonderful photos which she shared after the trip. We would definitely recommend this trip. Shane and Andrea
We really enjoyed this adventure. Simon, our guide, provided great stories and history throughout the trip, plus great pictures.
It started a bit shady because the tour guide and van was not at the meeting point at the specified time. We tried calling the number provided without response. They did eventually show up so that’s good. Our tour guide was Simon and he is quite knowledgeable of the area. Plus, his pictures look great. Unfortunately, this is a bit of a hit or miss with the weather. We can at the end of the snow storm and it was difficult to see the fjords and the nature due to the snow.
We left Tromso in a blizzard but by the first stop the skies had cleared and we able to enjoy fantastic views in the magical half-light, stunning landscape and interesting history. Our guide Simon was charming, informative and patient, he made it so interesting for us all. Plus a great photographer! Thank you. Magical.
We left Tromso in a blizzard, and yet when we reached our first stop the skies had cleared, views were stunning, and the history fascinating. Simon you were a brilliant guide, thank you for your kindness and patience with our questions. Great photos too, a treat to have you as tour photographer. Magical landscape, well worth exploring.
My daughter chose this excursion because she was excited to see the Fjords and it did not disappoint. We loved our tour guide Simon. Loved hearing about the Vikings and the Sami people. The scenery was incredible. We also loved that Simon sent us pics of our adventure.
My daughter and I joined the Arctic fjord drive with Northern Horizon on 31 December, guided by Bert and Dom, and had a wonderful experience. After days of stormy weather, we were lucky to have calm, clear skies and temperatures around -10°C, allowing the landscapes to truly shine. The mountains, fjords, lakes, and hills were stunning, lit by the soft winter light of the hidden sun. We also spotted wildlife including reindeer and moose. Dom is a very capable driver, and Bert is informative and passionate about the local flora and fauna. A fantastic and highly recommended Arctic experience.
Saw some wildlife but the weather was so bad it was hardly worth going as no views at all and spent most of the time sat in dark minibus. Bert the guide was great and full of enthusiasm which helped but if weather is poor it’s not worth the money.
This arctic tour was one of our tromso highlights! We did this on the first day and it was a really great way to see in and around tromso. Bert knew all the best spots to see wildlife, we saw a reindeer and a moose! His photography was great and he was really knowledgeable, would definitely recommend! Thanks again Bert!
We had a truly wonderful fjord tour with Simon. He took us through Kvaloya, sharing stunning views of dramatic fjords, beautiful frozen lakes and waterfalls along the way. We were lucky enough to spot reindeers and even otters in the wild, which made the experience feel extra special. To end the day, we stopped at a cosy beach for hot chocolate and pastries, a perfect, peaceful moment. On the drive back, Simon played Sami and Viking music, helping us feel and understand the contrast between the cultures. His passion, deep knowledge of Nordic life, and genuine love for what he does made this an unforgettable experience.
This was a great tour. The guide was knowledgable and helpful. We had a very windy day so it was hard to stay at each viewpoint too long. (And the fog covered a lot of the scenery). But you could see how beautiful it would be if the weather were nice.
We took the Arctic Nature Tour with Simon on 20.12.25. The experience was fantastic. We made many stops to enjoy the scenery, and Simon took beautiful photos of us. The tour was very well organized, and the minibus was comfortable. At the end of the tour, we stopped near a sandy beach, where we enjoyed some snacks and hot drinks. I recommend this tour to everyone, especially couples, though families with children were also part of our group 🙂 Thank you, Northern Horizon, for an amazing experience! Marta and Krzysztof
What an amazing day seeing so many beautiful sights. We were also lucky enough to see a moose and reindeer in the wild. Bert, our guide was very informative, knowledgeable and friendly. He clearly loves his job. You won’t have any regrets booking the trip. It’s a wonderful experience.
WOW! A unique perspective. I’m a solo traveller and I’m 18 - so if you have any younger ones debating whether they’d like it. They definitely would!! This tour was well worth the money, they had plenty of stops, and they gave you enough time to take pictures, videos - they didn’t rush you at all. We had the rare opportunity of seeing a Moose which was very cool but the scenery was crazy beautiful. Bert is honestly the best tour guide I’ve ever came across. He provided information not just about the wildlife but Norway in general, Sami Culture, and told us fun facts along the way and he presented it in a way that is very interesting and that you’re engaged, additionally he was also smiling. You can tell he loves what he does and has a genuine passion for it He also was taking photos with his professional camera, which he generously sent to us after for us to post on social media. I’ve paid crazy money much more than this for other experiences in Tromsø such as Husky, Reindeer Sledding. This experience was the cheapest and hands down, I believe this was the best value and the most enjoyable ones If I ever come back to Tromsø, which is very likely I will definitely book another tour with Northern Horizon, hopefully I get Bert again!!
Nice trip out into the Norwegian countryside. Lots of great scenic views and remote locations. Alas not much wildlife although we did stop at a little authentic village with a boat repairer who gave an interesting chat about his work.
Beautiful views with the added bonus of seeing a seal, 2 Golden Eagles and a moose. Lots of information given during the journey.
The tour took you away from Tromso island to an area to the north west towards Tromvic. Several stops are made at scenic spots with the option to take photos. The guide also took some photos and will , if wanted, take photos of yourself and forward them on to you. Just before returning to Tromso a stop was made for a drink and cookie. Make sure you wear lots of layers as if windy the temperature is a lot lower than in Tromso itself. The tour lasted just over 4 hours.
We thoroughly and completely enjoyed the trip, the guide is so nice and knowledgable, we would highly recommend this tour to those we stay in for a short trip in Tromso.
Great experience from Tromso. Northers Horizon the tour company were excellent. Simon our guide and our driver were most personable and professional. Learnt loads of new facts, saw lots of wildlife, moose, reindeer’s and seals. Lunch on the beach was a nice touch. A great cultural experience and good value for money. 5 hours end to end was just perfect.
This was a wonderful trip that took us by fjords and beautiful landscapes. The tour guides were great. We had reindeer walking beside us and in front of the van and we had to pause briefly for them to move. The trip, chocolate and pastry was so good! I definitely recommend this tour so you can see the beauty of the country for yourself.
Great trip out into the wilderness around Tromso. Beautiful scenery enhanced by snow, empty landscapes and very few other people around. Small group tour in a minibus worked well too.
Beautiful fjords and scenery. Best thing about the tour was definitely the continuous insightful commentary by Barbara. She gave the tour real value.
The team was incredible. They did a great job showing us a variety of Fjords, setting us up for cool pictures and explaining the areas. It was cold so they offered boots and warm suits to those who needed it. They were able to accommodate my gluten allergy during the snack portion which was awesome. They had tea, coffee and hot chocolate plus the snacks. Tour was ~4.5 hours long. Saw lots of reindeer.
Lots of good info, not sitting a lot, great views, good coffee. Don’t worry about the weather in the winter it will change every 5 minutes so go out and enjoy this tour
