We had a fantastic time on the 2-hour Polar Fishing Adventure! None of us had any real fishing experience, but everything was explained very clearly and patiently, so we quickly understood what to do. My dad even caught a huge cod, which was definitely one of the highlights of the trip! 😊 The cod was then cooked right on the boat, so we even got to taste our freshly caught fish. Warm insulated suits were provided, so we stayed comfortable throughout the trip. The two hours flew by – it was fun, relaxed and a wonderful way to experience the fjord. We really enjoyed the whole experience and would absolutely recommend it!

Booked months in advance but operator cancelled it the day before departure, offering a much longer tour instead. Very disappointing.
This was a fabulous tour from start to finish. Thomas and Jack ‘sparrow’ were fabulous hosts, from spotting White Tailed Eagles, fishing and raising their crab pot to find a King Crab. Thomas cooked the fish we caught and served it to everyone. Great day out on the water.
Fantastic experience. I have done a couple of tours with this company (Polar Adventures) and this family run business looks after you and is very welcoming. We were able to bring our 7 month old baby on board so we could enjoy the experience together as a family. The on-demand tea/coffee/hot chocolate is wonderful to keep you warm and enjoying the artic experience. Also cooking up some of the fish the group caught, so you can try on board, was a fun and yummy culinary experience! If you love fishing you will love this!
Fantastic experience. Very easy to find and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The scenery is unbelievable and the staff cooked some of the fish that we caught ourselves - that tasted so good.
We caught fish! Our captain and host were so friendly and accommodating. We got to eat our catch. I love that it was a small group only. My boys loved the cookies.
The guides were kind and helpful and the views were lovely. All 3 hours were dedicated to fishing which is exactly what I was looking for. HOWEVER - I think the tour operator should have known better than to to take the ship out with a broken bathroom and broken radar…
A full three hours of fishing looking back on the mountains with good equipment and only 12 guests on the boat. Our guide Petter was so friendly and helpful especially when we caught lots of cod and haddock. Hot drinks and biscuits on the boat were nice but the real treat was fresh cod cooked and served for us from our catch! A very enjoyable experience for beginners to more experienced.
It’s an excellent tour. The guides, itinerary, and our luck was great. The clean Norwegian water and the great view played a big part in making this tour a memorable one.
Great experience! The crew was knowledgeable and looked after us well. The whole trip was 3 hours, we did some fishing, the crew cooked it later. It was fun, views were amazing, crew suggested restaurants for us and a cable car experience. Highly recommend!
We had a great time. Fishing was fun but could have been better without having to share a single rod between the 2 of us. Some couples had 2 rods but some only 1 between the 2..
Fantastic fishing cruise. The captain and Raul here the best guides a visitor could want . We all were able to catch códs!!!! Fishing in the snow is 🔝🔝 Marques da Costa family from Lisbon
This was such a fun fishing trip! We caught lots of fish and saw tons of eagles. The stew was amazing!
5 hour boat tour with very nice and great guides who have a lot to tell about wildlife, scenery and other (fun) facts. You have plenty of time to enjoy scenery and wildlife and they planned the fishing and delicious homemade (with your own catch) soup at just the right times. 5 hrs may seem long but we could ve lasted longer! Coffee, tea, hot chocolat, soda and cookies as much as you want. A must do!!
This was fabulous! The food was delicious. The fishing was fun and 150 feet down! Our group caught 3 fish. We even got a seal peeking on us and an eagle flying overhead. The captain was an expert and the crew was fantastic. Definitely do this!
It was a really really good experience, very well organized and father and son were a really good crew. We had done to the wale safari too which was also a good trip, Thomas is a really nice and friendly guy. We can only say we will do it again if we stay in tromsø.
Great fishing adventure with a fun crew! Also, I caught a huge fish. The weather in Tromso is ideal, which makes me think the Norwegians are lying to us.
We have now done both the aurora hunting and the cruise/fishing trip with Polar Adventures. In all dealings with them they have been friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Both trips were excellently run with guides going out of their way to make it the best experience possible. We have actually done 3 trips with them and before the second trip we were greeted as friends returning despite a 2 year gap since our first trip. All trips we have done were thoroughly good days and will be long remembered. The aurora hunt saw some aurora not as much as we would have liked but the guides worked really hard to find any activity and at least we can say we have eaten hotdogs cooked over an open fire at midnight in the Arctic Circle, How highly we rate them as a company can be seen by the fact that we are already looking forward to doing the Whale trip with them next winter.
The whole experience was unforgettable from the activities we did to the scenery we saw to the food we had. The staff made us feel at home with their positive energy and told us lots of interesting facts about Norway. This is one of the best things to do in Tromso I recommend it with all my heart!
Such a great trip. Big fish, great staff and fantastic atmosphere. All in all a great experience. Kh Mathias.
We had beautiful weather which top this trip to maximum. But crew was great, captain didn’t give up till he found a perfect fishing spot, fish soup was awesome. My boys 10 and 12 loved it. Could have stayed longer 😉
Forst of all, this was fun! Everyone did try to get fish and there were a lot of them during the trip. Second, there is Marlene and Kenneth, two warm people, friendly and welcoming, funny and witty 😁 Third, there is the fish soup, wich Marlene master s-o well. Tasty and delicate, it was fantastic! These people are doing a great job for their guests! I recommend a fish trip warmly!
We had been looking forward to this trip before leaving for Tromsø. And it delivered on all expectations. The crew was very friendly, service minded and accommodating. The whole trip was great. The fishing was fun, and they made sure to find the best possible spots. As a family of three, we caught 7 cod and one other fish. We saw sea-eagles. We had Marlene’s great tasting fish-soup. And our son had a blast with the free snacks onboard ;-) We are ready to go again!
I took my Mom on this awesome boat ride through the Fjords. It wasn’t our day for whales per se but It was the adventure with the amazing crew and beautiful sites that made the trip. We saw eagles and dolphins throughout the journey... plus the most memorable scrumptious soup lunch topped with a sweet birthday cake for my Mom. Highly recommend this trip as a great way to see Norway by water. And again, the captain and crew are just fantastic and passionate about creating a lovely Norwegian experience - truly once in a lifetime.
I've just finished fishing with Polar Adventures: IT WAS GREAT TIME! Very nice crew, beautiful views, nice fishes and BEST Halinka's soup :-) Thank You for the Capitan, Peter and Halinka.😃👍
It was wonderful time! Beautiful views, good fishing, nice atmosphere and great people! Thank You POLAR ADVENTURES! We will come back :-)
Had a wonderful trip togheter with colleagues. The friendly crew added value to the overall experience. The fish soup was excellent. And yes, we caught fish - rather a plenty!
What made our fishing trip so special was not simply the fishing and wonderful scenery. It was meeting the owner of Polar Adventures a truly warm and remarkable lady called Marlena. You could not wish for a better host. She cared deeply about every guest, offered drinks and snacks and cooked a soul warming fish soup after the fishing itself using the fresh fish. Marlena embraced us all with her charm, kindness and incredible life story. She was the highlight for us and made the whole experience unforgettable. Serdecznie dziekuje Marlena i sciskamy!
With the old royal boat "the polar Queen" we went trough the fjords, northbound. The very friendly crew telling there amazing stories. There fishing experiences...They learned us how to fish, it was fun. There was coffee, the and hot chocolat, fruit and cookies more than enough. For the lunch we have delicious fish soup. Special thanks to Christina [mama big fish] and the captain who let me drive the boat for a while .
We started at 10 am and came back at 3 pm. During these 5 hours we had a nice view and even fished Kod by ourselves for our lunch. The guides were knowledgable and had interesting stories to tell. All kinds of cookies, apples, and grapes were provided as snacks as well as hot drinks and a nice soup with the fresh fish. You should do it too!
We were in Tromso for two days and spending one on this trip was really well worth the time. Nice crew, and a captain who had the knowledge of luring down a “skinbyxe” ( you never say eagle on a fishing boat ) to the boat was amazing. We had magnificent weather, which of course, sets the rating to a five. Otherwise It would probably have gotten a four considering the quite high pricing of the excursion.
I don't know from where to start. The polar fishing is an immersion in the authentic Norwegian spirit of not so distant times where fishing was the main means of earning a living for most Norwegians. All along the trip there is a spectacular scenery. The hosts then, they are fantastic they treat you as if you have been knowing them for ages. They brief you on Norwegian tales and expeditions up in the North. Captain Jack Sparrow is indeed a character which makes the trip a very pleasant one and Kenneth sees that all the guests are comfortable and making the most of the experience. We were also lucky to see a sea Eagle flying down to catch a fish. For those who love classic boats it is indeed the trip of a lifetime.
we went on this AMAZING 6 hours boat trip with Polar Adventure (who's a little family run company). first of all, we felt very safe - all equipment was good and updated, and the crew made a good introduction at the beginning of the sail. the crew had prepared hot boiled water, coffee and tea, snacks and fruits for the guests. we went out for fishing 3 different places around Troms. The crew was very service minded, but also carefull around us, helped us with technique of how to actually fish (yes it was the first time for most of us!). we was so lucky to catch some fishes, so we got some of it in our lunch soup, and the rest pan-fried in butter, made the Norwegian way. The boat was good provides with pillows, blanket so we could sit outside the whole day (we had very good weather!). we felt welcome and nearly home for the entire time at the boat. it was a very easy way to see beautiful scenery, try fishing, and get to know some stuff about birds, dolphins and whales (yes we actually saw some small dolphins). I can only recommend to go try this. you won't regret it. The crew and company runs this cause it means something more then just business. thanks for a lovely day!
We had the fishing tour today. I am traveling with my mom, 76 years old and only speaks Spanish. Both hosts where kind and looking for her during all the trip. The rest of the guests were really nice too. The views are amazing, the captain was looking for a place with less drifts and winds. They adjust the tour to the weather so it’s more comfortable for every one. 100% worthy. Thanks guys!!
Very friendly and enthusiastic personal (mean Kristina) and they made very nice atmosphere with fishing, cooking etc. The capitain explanes with pleasure about norway, seas and fjords... Thanks guys!
We were a small group (7 passengers) and had an absolutely brilliant day witnessing nature, fishing, learning about the landscape and its people, and cooking up our catch. Captain Jack ("Jack Sparrow") was such a friendly, passionate and hilarious sea dude who made the trip even more memorable. The crew was also very hardworking, helpful and friendly. The cabin was warm and cosy, with endless hot drinks, cookies and fruit provided. Warm ski suits were provided so you could stand outside all day and not get cold. A delicious meal of potatoes and fish in a Norwegian sauce was cooked for us in the afternoon which was demolished in a matter of seconds. Our group of 5 took all the fish we caught back to our AirBnB and cooked it up for our dinners. In total we took away 7.5kg of cod fillets (enough to feed 25-30 people!) Amazing day out. 10/10
I highly recommend this fishing experience with Kenneth and Jack, the captain. Both very sympathetic and professional. They made everything they could to find nice fishing spots and they did so beyond our expectations. Within 45 minutes, we fished more than 20 cods ! Some of more than 10 kg. The ship is very nice, temperature in the cabin pleasant and adequate clothing is provided to stay outside when fishing. Coffee, tee, water, cookies, grapes at disposal. On the way back, a fantastic fish soup is served. Just this culinary experience would be sufficient to recommend this trip. You should definitely opt for this fishing experience with Kenneth and Jack when in Tromso. Ity was by far our best experience in Tromso, with the dog sledding.

Fantastic day today with Marlena, Kristina and the captain. Fab views, fishing for cod and the best fish soup ever on a gloriously sunny day. The two girls were so enthusiastic and just great fun.
We booked this trip due to the whale watching trips not taking place (it’s now out of season). We wanted to go out on the fjords and fishing seemed a great activity. The crew was very inviting and the boat was fully stocked with hot drinks and biscuits and fruit. We were made to feel very welcome. We sailed the fjords for approximately 2.5hrs before stopping to fish. This did seem long but the scenery is amazing and seeings sea eagles was a treat. The team have thermal suits which are needed for long periods of standing still on the water, we did need to keep going in for a warm though Most of the group caught fish which were then filleted and served in a soup or fried with butter and lemon.... both were delicious! Arrived back a little later then expected but all in all it was a good trip.
Our original tour to chase Whales was cancelled, due to the Whales not wanting to be chased, so we were offered this in exchange. What a great day. The crew were knowledgeable, and, as you can see by the photie, the Cod were not as shy as the Whales. Kristina turned the fish into a fantastic pan of soup. The scenery was breath taking. The Northern lights had followed the Whales, but, to be honest, it didn't really matter, we had a great day messing about on a boat.😊😊
We had Jack,Christian and Maria . We had an absolute great time ! Very nice very caring and a very good soup. Had fun with the fishing and feeding the birds . Anytime again thank you
The trip was not what ˝˝Get your guide˝ nor what Trip Advisor advertises it made it out to be. I was hoping for a half day full of fishing in the Fjords. That is not what this is. The service of the crew was great, however, I paid 25 more euro for a ˝Fishing trip˝, when it was really a fjord cruise. False advertisement? No, but there is some level of disappointment as in the 5 hours we were out we fished for maybe an hour. For the sportsman looking to get out and fish the fjords, I would NOT recommend this, however, if you want to putz around the waters surrounding Tromso, go for it. A sidenote, I caught one fish and I had asked for a picture with it, well they cut it up and tossed it in the stew before I could get my photo.

You guys are the best! Thanks again, hope to see you again in December!!! :)
Volodymyr

Nice sea trip. Fishing takes place close to the port so very little navigation. The driver and the attendant are very kind. Ideal for children.
Juan, Alvaro and Jack (Sparrow) were great. Their communicative energy and good humor. They made us spend a very good day by boat, feasted with fish soup from our peach and delighted with all their explanations. They even brought in the white-tailed eagles (eagle in French I think). a big THANK YOU to the three of them!
A wonderful experience! The cod fishing, the landscape, the feeding of eagles, the soup... all accompanied by a very friendly team! Thank you.
Great cruise to the Fjords and introduction to fishing. The boat crew was on top! Comments on crossbred animals and local life. A very attentive team too. Thank you!
Nice boat trip to the fjords near Tromso. We saw the eagles and for those who wanted there was the opportunity to fish. Very good fish soup. Good organization.
We were family of 6 people who celebrated 50th birthday with 5 hours fishing trip. That was amazing! I got 25 kg of cabbage and 8 kg of cod. The crew was fun and completely present for good service, which made us feel at home and cared for. The chef served good mood and lovely fish soup, the captain let the children test the boat and the fish was filleted and taken care of after the fishing trip. We even got cake with candles and birthday songs as a surprise! This is an experience I recommend, and I would love to take the trip again!
