Tortuguero National Park Canal Kayaking Tour

We got really lucky and were the only two people on the tour. As we booked the 11am most of the morning tours were already done by the time we left and we had many of the waterways all to ourselves. We saw a lot of wildlife still, including a crocodile, caimans, turtles, lizards, birds and even monkeys. Our guide was knowledgeable, funny and easygoing. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for an immersive experience of the river and lagoon.

We had a wonderful kayak tour through the national park. We learned a lot about the flora and fauna, and we also saw many animals thanks to our excellent guide, Maurice. We would highly recommend it to everyone and would book it again anytime! Thank you very much.

We hired kayaks from Engel and discovered Torteguero on our own pace. A really fun add on when a tour guide has already shown you around (we did 2 tours before).

Tortuguero Life Tours really helped us spend a lovely time in Tortuguero. On our first day they - unprompted - helped us find our Airbnb, and refused to accept payment or a tip. They rented us boots for a night walk, and then organized kayaks for an early morning tour. Their instructions on where to go allowed us to have a fantastic tour and see lots and lots of animals.

I booked the kayak tour through Viatour which connected me with Tortuguero Life Tours. This was easily the best booking experiences and activities we had in Costa Rica! Engel was so communicative and friendly! We had issues with one of our shuttles to Tortuguero being incredibly late and he still helped accommodate our tour at a later time. Not only that but when we needed to figure out how to get to Limón after a last minute change to stay in Tortuguero due to our late shuttle, he helped us arrange affordable transportation by boat and checked in to make sure we knew everything and had the boat pick us up at our hotel. Seriously he went above and beyond to make it such a stress free experience despite the changes in our end with other bookings. We did the tour with Pablo who was absolutely incredible and when I come back I definitely will request him again. He was so knowledgeable not only about the wildlife but the history of the island. Even though it was afternoon and he said we would probably have a harder time seeing animals, we still saw all the animals and birds we had hoped to see and more! Definitely recommend kayaking over the boat tour if you are able because you really get a more close up experience! Thank you Pablo and Engel for making this such a beautiful highlight to our trip to Costa Rica. Pura vida friends!

The kayak tour was very beautiful, we had the best weather and saw two caimans, a toucan, and several other birds. The guide looked after the group and even had two people who were having trouble with their kayak picked up.

Yesterday, we took a night tour of the jungle with Don Yoyi, and it was just amazing. We saw a wide variety of animals, including many reptiles and amphibians. The thrill of exploring the jungle at night was unique. This morning, we enjoyed a canoe tour of the canals with guide Liroy. It was very, very fun and allowed us to appreciate the natural beauty of Tortuguero from a different perspective. Without a doubt, this experience is something that is not lived every day and we recommend it to everyone. We thank Engel for its excellent organization and the guides for their passion and knowledge. You can't miss it!

We were taken care of by angel, a very nice sympathetic enthusiastic youngster who just started this business, he explained everything well and had arranged it well. We ended up doing the tour with Pablo, a real local who spoke good English and knew all about the jungle, animals and his birthplace. Within a second Pablo had also spotted all the animals present at that spot. And we really saw a lot of animals. We had the tour for 2.5 hours but stayed longer in the jungle because Pablo and we had super fun in the jungle. This tour is highly recommended!

We did the morning tour with Leroy and were absolutely thrilled. We wanted almost all the animals and also found them with his eagle's eye.

The canoe trip through the mangroves was very nice. We have seen caimans, iguanas and various birds. The guide was a super nice and humorous young man who told us a lot of interesting things about the region and the animals. Despite the cloudy skies, we didn't think it necessary to take our rain capes with us, which turned out to be a mistake. Shortly after departure it started to rain in torrents and only stopped shortly before the end of the tour. Fortunately, you hardly freeze in the temperatures there. Somehow it was also a particularly great experience, especially through the rain. Nevertheless, we recommend packing a cape for safety reasons. 😃 We definitely recommend the tour!
