We had an amazing experience with Green Tours, especially thanks to our guide, Daniel! We did the Jaguar Trail Tortuguero, the Canoeing Tour, and the Turtle Tour, and every one of them was fantastic. We spotted a caiman, explored the incredible rainforest, learned so much about the local wildlife, and had so much fun throughout the day. Daniel was incredibly knowledgeable, shared fascinating facts, took great care of us, and even gave us excellent recommendations for things to do outside the tours. Seeing a sea turtle laying her eggs at the end of the day was the cherry on top—an unforgettable experience! The only thing we missed was seeing a jaguar. Highly recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Green Tours did an amazing job throughout the whole stay. Our guide Daniel was amazing, always available to help us. We did a Canoe tour, Jaguar trail and Turtle tour, and the experience couldn’t have been better. Pura Vida 🦥
We had an amazing experience. Daniel was simply lovely, and I definitely recommend it. Pura vida! 🤙🏽
Very good, we did cannoning and day walk tour. Very good! Daniel is the best guide!
Fantastic! Danny was an excellent guide! The tour was amazing! We absolutely loved Tortugeuro and look forward to going back again one day! Thank you Danny.
Danny was the absolute best! He was extremely knowledgable, positive, and STRONG in helping us navigate the Tortuguero canals. He took such great photos of our group, and even created an organized Apple Photos album for us. Also, he gave us such great recommendations for activities in other cities in Costa Rica. He really went beyond all expectations - thanks so much, Danny, and pura vida!
I first met Brandon and Danny when I signed up for the free village walk my first full day in Tortuguero. They're both so friendly and shared so much knowledge and love for their community! I signed up for the combo tour for the following day (canoe in early am, then day walk thru the Nat'l Park). It was just me and Brandon both tours, so having private experiences was amazing as I could ask a lot of questions, plus Brandon had loads of information throughout the day. He's also very skilled in spotting creatures everywhere! I was constantly amazed. I highly recommend supporting this team, I felt like I had local friends during my stay.
I reached out to Danny last minute to arrange private transportation from La Pavona to Tortuguero after delays meant I would miss the public boats. He personally waited for me, even though I arrived well after 6 PM in the dark. Beyond that, he helped coordinate a morning canoe tour, the turtle nesting tour, and arranged all tickets and transportation. Danny was friendly, responsive, and made my trip much more hassle-free. Highly recommend!
Amazing experience! We booked a tour super last minute and they organized a great day for my dad and I. We did a canoe tour and a day hike and both were incredible. The guides were great and knowledgeable. We saw so much wildlife! Spider monkeys, howling monkeys, white face monkeys, sloths, green iguanas, a basilisk, a caiman, so many types of birds and more. Our favourite tours EVER. Thank you so much to Danny and Arturo who made this trip honestly! 😊
We just returned from an incredible trip to Costa Rica and we're so grateful to have had Danny as our guide. He was a GEM!! From the planning phase before our arrival to the moment we landed at SJO until our return, he handled every transfer seamlessly. We traveled from San José to Tortuguero, on to Puerto Viejo, and back again and never had to worry about logistics; everything was taken care of with ease, professionalism and awesome communication. Danny not only managed the travel details perfectly, but he also led us on wonderful tours in Tortuguero. His love for his country really shines through. He has a deep knowledge of Costa Rica’s nature and wildlife, and he shared so much with us about conservation efforts and the importance of protecting the environment. It made our experience both fun and meaningful. On top of that, Danny is kind, patient and personable. He went above and beyond to make our family had a unforgettable trip. If you're looking for someone reliable, knowledgeable, and passionate to show you the beauty of Costa Rica and the wonderful Caribbean side, we can't recommend Danny & Green Tours highly enough.
nice tour, Danny was a great guide we booked at 6 o' clock in the morning but was 1 hour delayed (good communication via phone/whatsapp), too much people and not enough boats, but was still ok. cano tour is the best to explore Tortuguero on the water and you can also get deeper in the mangroves. nice trip, certainly recommend it!
We did a kayak tour in the canals of tortuguero national Park which was great. It was just the two of us with a guide who was very knowledgeable and told us fun facts on the numerous birds, reptiles and other animals we saw!
We got picked up right on time at our Lodge. The tour was great, we saw a lot of animals and our guide knew a lot about the animals. Thank you.
Danny really put himself out. Spent longer with us than the tour stated as the jungle started quiet and took a while for animals to be seen. It turned out to be a bonanza and we even saw some thing that Danny hadn’t seen. Monkey with 1 day old baby - so much. He was punctual, knowledgeable and very professional
Amazing time with Danny on the canoe tour! After this we did the turtle nesting night tour with him.. We got another guide who was really good and knew where to go. Saw a turtle nesting an waited for it to go back to the see. Amazing experience Thankyou Danny!!!! (Autopaleis)
nice canoe trip with a good guide, saw a lot and laughed a lot! You see a lot of birds monkeys and maybe some caimen. Pura Vida.
We had an amazing trip with Danny as our guide. He brought us close to the wildlife while maintaining a lot of respect and care for the animals. Observing the animals in silence and afterwards lots of information from Danny.
Wow! What an amazing tour of the river thanks to our faithful tour guide who became our friend as well, Danny. We saw many different birds, cayman, crocs, monkeys and beauty. His patience and knowledge was outstanding. Ruth was amazing as well on our nighthike and throughout our visit.
We got very rainy days here and were rescheduling our tour thinking to cancel it even. And finally we decided to go. Danny, the owner, was very helpful, friendly and resolved the situation and we had a very good tour. Thank you.
Firstly, it is not communicated anywhere the last boat leaves for the park, which you must be at to take this tour, at 4p. Consequently, I lost my entire money as I only arrived at San Jose at 1.30p and drove straight here. Secondly, the tour guide only contacted me the at about 8p the night before. I dont think they have any idea you dont have phone contact if you are international. He was very rude, Blaming ME for not knowing about the last boat. And the lack of contact. He just kept replying to my emails, arguing and blaming. Thirdly, when I got the 1st boat out the next morning to Tortuguero (from la pavona boat dock), you can buy the tours there, for the same price. Why risk your money booking beforehand? The tours are all exactly the same, the canoes go out in the park the same places. You'll see them all when there. So why waste your money booking beforehand. I lost my money and the guy was rude to me on top of it. He said 'you cant review a tour you didnt take'. Well, I can review my experience.
Unbelievable cruise along the river and through the mangroves. Our guide, Nana (a Tortuguero local) was very knowledgable, courteous and was somehow able to replicate the sounds of all the animals in the jungle and seemingly communicate with them! A truly unforgettable experience. Highly recommended.
Pablo was our tour guide and was very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. He was able to spot many animals and get us very close. I would suggest this tour over any of the motor boats because you are able to get to more secluded areas the larger boats could not.
great canoe tour in the early morning. we saw beautifull animals and out guide Johnatan or John was very Professional
Wer did this Tour with Christian and were the only 2 people in his boat. We saw a lot of animals and had a good time.
I am assuming that Augusto is part of the association of ndividual tour guides. They all collaborated and shared information about wildlife sightings. He was so enthusiastic and quite knowledgeable. You can tell he is passionate about Tortuguero. Because he had a smaller canoe (7 people max) we were able to get into inlets that other boats did not attempt. Purdy Vida!
Miguel (aka monkey) was amazing. we was so friendly and wasn't concerned about time. he was in no rush to take us back promptly. we could paddle if we wanted and didn't have if we wanted to just sit back and relax. he said the more you help me paddle the further we can go and explore, so 2 of the 6 of us paddled for most of the tour. we were able to see a sloth, turtles, many birds, a river otter, some fish, crocodiles, caymans, iguanas, a giant spider, giant blue butterflies, and a monkey. when we encountered rain, he had large trash bags prepared for us to put away anything we didn't want wet. he shared with us about his family, and how he used to be a part of the logging industry there. we pointed out many species of tress and told us about their uses. we certainly felt as though we got the better guide watching some of the other boats go by. it was so relaxing to see the sights and enjoy the quiet that surrounded us. if you go, ask for Miguel!
We had a wonderful time with our guide, Abel, he showed us many animals and was a great source of information. An unforgettable experience in tortuguero !
We took this agency after a local friend recommendation - very disappointing, the guide Cali was absolutely not professional, he did not say much about anything and even did not spot many birds or animals, other guides promoted him to show, money wasted. On the same day we took the night walk as well hoping he will know more there, same poor result.
We picked this company to support the local ecotourism industry and the canoe tour was excellent. Our guide Cali (?) was a little quiet at first but when we showed curiosity and interest he quickly opened up and was excellent. Clearly passionate about his job and the wildlife, he was a credit to his employers. He wasn’t showy or gimmicky, just a man who loves the national park and everything in it. We took the 8.30 tour and saw 3 types of monkey, caiman, turtle, birds and butterflies. Furthermore, far from angling for a tip, he didn’t even linger near us when we departed; I had to leap back into he boat to tip him. Great tour and highly recommended.
We are currently staying in Tortuguero and have been on the night time turtle watch and the canoe tour. The staff are so friendly and helpful and speak great English, obviously fluent in Spanish too! They have helped us with transport connections to La Fortuna and when I say they are honest, they don't want you to waste your money on things that you won't get the best experience from. As you have to pay $15 extra for entrance to the national park, but can enter as many times as you like in a day, they advise you to do a guided trip in the morning followed by a trek on your own for free as it's already paid for. You can of course book a guide if you like and we might do that tomorrow if we don't see a sloth today! Honestly, these guys even pointed out to us that a volcanos in the background was smoking behind us and if they hadn't we wouldn't have noticed it! Lovely people, trips are only $20- $35!
We had a great experience with the Guias of Asoprotur. We travelled from San Jose to Tortuguero by local bus (La Pavona) and boat, not having any troubles. It was fun to travel with the locals as well. Of course, travelling in low season was an advantage in this manner. Beforehand, we booked our stay in Tortuguero (Tortuga Lodge & Gardens!). So, when we arrived at the dock it was Verny who keenly helped us with the correct intel to our stay (another boat further onto the rio). Since I had a knee surgery (ACL) 2 months prior to my arrival, I had to ask what were my options in Tortuguero. In the end, I stayed in touch with Verny (by WhatsApp) and we booked two tours with Asoprotur. 1 Canoe Tour: this was very cool and perhaps our most memorable tour in CR. We saw a lot of different animals and it was fun to row the boat onto smaller rio's in the National Park. When booking the tour with Asoprotur, ask for Oscár (aka Mowgli)! He is a young man, who is knowledgeable, enthusiastic and a fun guy to do the tour with; we learned a lot about the surrounding area, full of flora and fauna. 2 Tortuga Tour: obviously a must-do when in Tortuguero (and being in the proper season); a very unique moment to be there while the seaturtles are laying eggs. Also good that the guides are knowledgeable about and follow up the 'rules', by doing so, not scare the turtles away -> Eco-tourism! Verny again was able to arrange something in which my knee got least 'frustrated' (not a long boattrip, a flat walk and being zoned closeby our Lodge), a great help indeed. Asoprotur offers other tours as well, which I believe are also very good, but since we had our own 'garden and jungle' at the Lodge it was not necessary to book them elsewhere. Our experience with Asoprotur is only positive, by having knowledgeable Guias, being organized well, being people-oriented and striving to offer Eco-friendly tours.
Kind, willing to help. I recommend it
My experience was very good, I enjoyed it very much, the guide was extraordinarily Mr. Andres Gustavo Fernandez, I do not forget his nomvre because it was very professional.
Unsurpassed, thanks to Arthur. His experience, closeness and knowledge has made this experience unique and of which I remember best in Costa Rica. We did 3 activities, fully recommended. Night tour, canoes and park tour. I would definitely repeat it again. We saw all kinds of animals and learned a lot. Thank you!
We did the 360 Tour (canoe, night walk and park walk) and it was a great experience. Our guide Arthur was amazing: super attentive, friendly and with lots of information about fauna and flora. I highly recommend it and if it is with Arturo even more!
A great and exciting tour with fantastic guides in which we could see the spawning of a turtle on Tortuguero beach.
Fully recommended. They have been watching us at all times, both before the trip and during the stay in Tortuguero, with a fast and smooth communication by WhatsApp or phone. They are responsible for any issues that arise: excursions, transfers, etc.
By Danny everything was arranged fine, we were picked up from our lodge. We thought we had to canoe full in the sun but our guide Leroy guided us along the banks and the small canals deep into the forest so that we spend most of the vd tour in the shade. Leroy is an enthusiastic, canoeing encyclopedia who really knew how to tell all about everything we came across. Overall a wonderful afternoon, definitely recommended!
Danny is reliable: he approaches us in the parking lot. Well... but ultimately it's not at all sticky, on the contrary. Then we contacted him again for various information, and he was on top. He advises us a guide on the spot, Liroy (called Boa), also at the top. Anyway, go, eyes closed. The ride was great ( at the paddle. Zero effort. Avoid motorboats, which go fast and see nothing)
Beautiful nature reserve and thanks to our guide we have seen many animals and the most beautiful corners. Many thanks to Leroy and the whole team.
Danny and Rachel have been 10/10 guides, friendly, funny but above all respectful and sincere!! I would choose them again if I came back!
Danny has been a great thing in every way we had a very fun canoe experience where he was explaining all the fauna we saw with a lot of detail and knowledge In addition he advised us of many other details and experiences we could have in Tortuguero Always very affable, close and attentive We will come back with him the next time we come without hesitation
Great experience in the canoe with Danny! Had a very pleasant afternoon and the guide is very wise! So come to Danny’s canoe palace!
Tourguide Danny took us into the canals around Tortuguero where we could experience the beautiful fauna and flora up close. Danny really knows what he's talking about and he's the kindness in person. We were able to admire several beautiful animals up close and enjoyed the whole trip. The experience couldn't be better, courtesy of Danny. Highly recommended!
Amazing experience, the guide (nicknamed Nanán) was very friendly and attentive, he has an impressive eye to spot the different animals during the tour. It is worth noting the experience of canoeing, without noisy engines, so you can better enjoy the sounds in the channels. Recommended.
Highly recommended. It's not easy to see the fauna but if you go with the guide he sees them fast. Better by canoe, so you can access smaller areas than by motor boat of several people.
A beautiful and relaxing trip through the canals of Tortuguero , we enjoyed the silence and the presence of some animals on the tour. Recommended
An amazing experience, we rowed through internal rivers of tortoise almost 4 hours, we saw all kinds of animals, boas, sloths, howler monkeys, many birds. We did the tour with GREEN TOUR, and the guide Grillo explained each plant, each tree, each animal, was very fun and very attentive with our 9 year old son. I explain funny details of each animal. He told her tales of jungle legend. We had an amazing morning!!.
We explored the Nigthwalk, the National Park and National Park boat tour on foot with bonuses. It was fantastic. Incredibly a real eagle's eye. We've seen a lot of animals. We particularly enjoyed the canoe trip in the national park. 4h we were driven, a silent one in the park. Impressive idyll:-) Bonuses have taken a lot of time and have an amazing knowledge of nature. I would book it again anytime.
I honestly didn't do any canoeing activity with this association that tries to have a street in Tortuguero by putting forward the argument of certified guides. But this canoe ride seems a scam with regular departures and tight timing at the expense of fun. Probably a scam for tourists that made me choose another company. The rates are identical throughout the village so do not hesitate to consult elsewhere. The speech they made to me was flattering and we were well received but it was not enough. For day or night visits, probably more interesting but the opinions given are often mixed.
