We embarked on our Costa Rica vacation with a brief stay at the Tortuga Lodge. The lodge is an overall great place! They offer a wide range of excellent tours and activities suitable for all ages. There’s also a pool with an incredible view of the rainforests. However, one downside was the food. Since the lodge is situated in a remote location on the Tortuguero “coast,” the only dining option is within the hotel. While the food is not exceptional, I’ve heard from hotel reviews that it’s still considered the best in the area.

We had a great stay at Tortuga Lodge. The rooms were clean and the beds were very comfortable. If i had to find a thing to complain that would be a little green mold in the shower.
The food, drinks, and cocktails were very good.
The tours were well organized, and the guides were friendly and very knowledgeable.
The staff was also welcoming and helpful throughout our stay.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this place.
Super location between the canal and beach. Food, gardens and birds are really good. The staff couldn’t do enough to help.
The beach above the high water mark is littered with depressions created by turtles making nests. We did the night time turtle tour and were rewarded by a marvellous experience. Watching a turtle build a nest, lay eggs and then cover it up.
We stayed here for the first couple of nights for our honeymoon and we had a fabulous time! The excursions were brilliant and in particular we really loved our boat trip with Juan! I think the most important thing with this hotel is how they truly try to make you feel connected with nature and integrate you into the Costa Rican culture, you feel like a part of their family when you stay there, and it’s the little touches that they do which make it special- everyone knows your name, they remember what you like to drink, and they treat you with a kindness which seems genuine. All the guides we met are genuinely passionate about nature and their country, and they pass that passion and knowledge on to you. I loved staying here, and it’s a location you can’t beat- truly surrounded by nature and Costa Rica at its best
Awesome waterfront eco-friendly. Excellent restaurant. Great hot showers, linens, beds. We had a ground floor king. You do hear people on floor above if they are unaware of their footfalls; you might want to request an upstairs room. Wife loved the massage she got in the spa. Guides were knowledgeable, there was lots of wildlife to see. Single kayaks provide better back support than the tandems; this could easily be rectified by the resort by getting higher backed seats which give better lumbar support. Bring good rain gear!
