Majority of rooms are very musty and moldy. It triggered my cough and I was unable to sleep at all. It has no windows facing the outside. If you are staying here, make sure you get a room with actual windows, facing the main road. Otherwise I would not recommend. On the positive side, the hotel looks cozy and is in proximity to shops.
If you enjoy the older places with the warm and welcoming traditions of boutique hotels versus corporate cookie-cutter hotels …. This is a good stay for you. The personality of the facility is filled with “old school” good vibes and is a good value. It’s in a relatively safe location within walking distance of dining options, various parks, street art, museums and the cool historic central market with extensive San Jose shopping options.
Worse place ever! Was in town for a medical procedure & they had no ice ( that was necessary for swelling), no bottled water, no air conditioning, no bar that is advertised on their website. Room had trash in cans and wet & dirty towel on floor. Terrible smell of mold which causes coughing.our reservation was for 15 days but we left on 4th day and they refused to refund the 11 days and made up lies to Expedia for their excuse. Do NOT stay here , you will regret it.
Absolutely Horrible Experience – Unsafe, Unsanitary, and Unacceptable Do yourself a favor: stay far away from this property. It is not what is advertised, and management clearly does not care about guest safety or honoring their word. We were forced to leave this hotel after just 4 days of a planned 15-night stay due to the shockingly poor conditions. What was supposed to be a calm, safe place to stay during a medical procedure turned into a health hazard and a nightmare. No air conditioning – this made the room unbearable and completely unsuitable for rest or recovery. No access to ice, water, or even a vending machine. The bar and restaurant were also closed with no warning. The room reeked of mold, triggering persistent coughing and raising serious concerns about respiratory health, especially while recovering from surgery. No refrigerator, which made storing necessary medication or basic food impossible. Loud music from the front desk all night long, every single night. It was impossible to sleep or feel any sense of peace. Unacceptable cleanliness issues – a dirty towel on the floor when we arrived, overflowing trash cans, and not even a box of tissues provided. We expressed our concerns at check-out and were assured by front desk staff a refund would be processed for the unused 11 nights. But when we followed up, the manager Esteban Coronel flat-out refused. We were left with no choice but to pay again out of pocket to book an Airbnb nearby. This experience was not just disappointing—it was dangerous. The lack of cleanliness, air conditioning, and access to basic needs like water or refrigeration created a serious health risk, especially considering the medical circumstances we were facing.
