Tokyo: Japanese Gold Repair Kintsugi Workshop In Shinjuku

Great experience! You get to keep your kintsugi pottery, but nicer ones cost up to 3000 yen. Be aware that this location hosts three separate types of workshops (calligraphy and chopstick workshops), so you might get the feeling you’re in an assembly line. The time is advertised as one hour, and our guide mentioned we could do two cuts, it definitely took almost two hours. Our guide left us with other staff after an hour. The staff were knowledgeable and polite. We overall enjoyed the experience greatly, but there are some footnotes to consider.

Great atmosphere, friendly and welcoming. Fluent English spoken. Nice and cool on a hot day. Bathroom available. Loved the experience as a couple have option to pay a little extra to select pottery outside of the inclusive pieces if you wish. We chose matching pieces, you can also request extra cracks.

Good way to learn ths culture of japan by creating a memorable kintsugi. The tutor is nice and friendly, even helped me to take pictures. All in all it was a great experience from my side.

I really loved my experience here at the chopsticks studio Shinjuku workshop. The kintsugi workshop itself was super educational and it was really interesting hearing about the history of kintsugi. We got to pick a plate from a lot of designs. The staff were very attentive and friendly making the whole experience better ;) would recommend this for anyone in Tokyo

It was a great experience the staff is friendly and cheerful, and always there if you need help. The location is easy to find, and the workshop is clean. I recommend it if you're in the area.

What a quiet and cool respite from the busy city. Our art guide was so sweet and walked us through the repairs. Many young adults were participating so great to meet people from around the globe. I would highly recommend.

My kids and I enjoyed the experience, the instructors were helpful and very encouraging and positive. Location was easy to find and we left with beautiful pieces of pottery.

My friend and I had the most wonderful time!! What I love the most was the homey, cozy environment with warm and welcoming instructors and happy people who had signed up for the different workshops that are offered - kintsuki, making of chopsticks, origami, and calligraphy. Our instructor, Htar, was not only a fantastic and encouraging instructor, but also a really sweet girl. The activity itself was an experience my friend and I both enjoyed and a memory we’ll cherish every time we think back to our time in Tokyo as well as when we look at our crafts, but Htar was the cherry on top. We got to meet amazing people, we learned about Japanese culture, and just had the loveliest time ever. Do yourself a favor - BOOK!!!

Absolutely loved this workshop! Everyone was so kind and welcoming and this whole experience was fun, relaxing and unforgettable! You can really tell how much they cared about every guest, making the whole experience feel special. Me and my daughter 100% recommend it to everyone.

We had a great time! The instructors were very helpful and assisted the four of us throughout. We messaged ahead to see if we could change our time and they were really accommodating. It was a nice bright studio tucked away.
