This art form takes concentration and a steady hand. The instructor was knowledgeable and patient. He reviewed the history of the art. Helped us when we got lost. We walked away with two incredible pieces. Highly recommend this.
The Kintsugi is within a private little meeting room at the back of a coffee shop. You get a free drink upon entry where you’re met by Tatsu. I had a solo lesson which was great. Tatsu is incredibly knowledgeable in the art of Kintsugi and explains the traditional process first. You then get to choose a pre-broken plate to fix and get a hands on experience to put it back together with a more modern approach. You then get to paint your own gold art over the cracks and get to take it home in a secure box.
We had such a wonderful time at the kintsugi class! It was the perfect way to get indoors and take a break from the rain and heat. The instructor shared the history of kintsugi while we sipped lattes from the café, and then we got to create our very own piece. Everything was thoughtfully packed up for us to safely take home in our luggage. Such a unique, relaxing, and memorable experience. We loved it!
We had a great time learning the art of kintsugi. Our instructor was very personable, knowledgeable and prepared. We had a great time and would highly recommend it.
I had a lovely time learning about the art of kintsugi and was able to make a nice souvenir to take home. The teacher was very helpful and patient with me as I learned how to fit the pieces together. I had a lot of fun and highly recommend it! Thanks!
We really appreciated learning about the ancient art of kintsugi and the patient instruction as we created our own pieces. Our pieces will be displayed proudly at home! The welcome beverage in the coffee shop was a nice surprise too!
Great class covering classical, hybrid and modern processes of kintsuki. Tatsu our instructor was very knowledgeable on the subject and his passion for this art form was apparent. Repairing our dish was the highlight and able to bring home the dish, which was packed for our flight that afternoon. Great experience!
Such a lovely experience in a beautiful space. Makes a lovely souvenir for your Japan trip. Tatsu was very knowledgeable and made the workshop great.
It was interesting to learn the history kintsugi. Really enjoyed the actual painting of the plate too!
Great insight into such a historical tradition . Great English speaking guidance from the host with even focus on all 6 that were in the class. 100% recommended if coming to Tokyo including the little take away gift.
Ran by a very kind and informative instructor. Very straightforward process that's easy to understand while producing a memorable souvenir that'll last. If you pay attention you might even learn a fun skill that you can try to replicate at home. All the information for this is freely given during this event. Would recommend for small groups or an individual.
The Kintsugi course was thoroughly enjoyable, and our teacher was very knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in Kintsugi.
Very knowledgeable instructor and kept us entertained with stories about Tokyo history, places to eat and of course the art of Kintsugi. Very special experience
It was an amazing experience! I highly recommend taking time out to do this in Tokyo. The teacher was so calm and explained every part of the process in so much detail.
Really enjoyed the hour and half here! The host was a kind well articulated gentleman who gave an easily digestible history of the kintsugi art form before letting us try out a version of it made to finish something in less than an hour (versus months in the real kintsugi art form). The hosts helped in the more difficult aspect (cleaning, sanding, packing) and allowed us to do the easy gluing parts and fun/creative painting parts! Highly recommend for an enjoyable quiet short activity!
Great instructor, lots of history and information, and took home a beautiful work of art! Thank you for a meaningful experience.
My Wife and I did this as a memorable souvenir while on our honeymoon in Japan! It was a very fun workshop, learning the basics of Kintsugi, and we can't wait to display our pieces when we get home. They boxed them up very nicely as well, so they will make the voyage! Definitely recommend this if you're in the Ginza area.
The workshop was very interesting, we learned about kintsugi a lot. It was also very relaxing and fun to fix our own plate. I would recommend to discover something new and take a breath from the vibrating city sightseeing.
Amazing class, very therapeutic to slow down and do some kintsugi! Highly recommend doing a class in ginza. Thanks very much Tatsu!
Highly recommend doing this. As a gaijin living in Japan, I had not considered doing this until a visiting friend booked us in. Tatsu was our instructor, and he was both very friendly and spoke very good English. He explained the history of kintsugi (bringing broken ceramics back to life) and how he developed his knowledge, and spent considerable time with the six of us, guiding us with our creations. Tatsu and his colleague did spend a lot of time cleaning our initial repairs before handing them back and letting us use our artistic flair to finish them. I am already planning another visit!
This was fantastic. The master artisan was so thorough and delightful. The history coupled with the hands on creating - a must do
The instructor was so knowledgeable on the art of kintsugi and urushi laquerwear. He’s a very interesting guy, as well! This workshop was a great introduction to the art form and my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed it while on our honeymoon. The instructor took his time helping everyone in the group make their kintsugi creation so if you’re unsure of your level of creativity, this is a great workshop for you. The cafe the workshop is held inside, AOU, is super cute and the staff are so kind and helpful. Very easy to find too, the Daiwa Building is not a far walk from Hibiya Station.
This was nice and friendly class that gave an introduction into the world of kintsugi. It was fun and I recommend it for anyone interested in learning about the craft.
Our teacher was so knowledgeable and informative. Beautiful classroom, with lots of space to work. Lots of time was given for class to get to know eachother. We all took home a beautiful piece of art. Highly recommend this excursion!
Class was educational and fun and Tatsu was a great instructor! We took the class with our son and daughter in law - all enjoyed it thoroughly. Tatsu is patient and the setting in a private room inside the coffee shop is serene with lots of greenery. It was interesting to hear about Tatsu’s long history as a sound engineer too. We will treasure our keepsake kintsugi pieces and look forward to displaying them when we get home.
This was a great experience for beginners wanting to understand the art better. Very friendly teacher.
A wonderful, hands-on cultural experience with a fantastic guide. My husband and I loved it! We recommend.
He was wonderful! Loved the history of kinsugi and absolutely loved doing it. We, of course didn’t have a month to let things dry and set up - so we used modern day short cuts with the understanding that there is another way. got to repair my iwn tile! Great group of fellow repair learners!
We had a wonderful time, sensei was such a nice explanation, from start to finish. Luckily class felt completely private and high quality. We did kintsugi so amazing. Great location, good amenities and wondeeful time to remember from japan trip. I would recommend.
The host was very kind. He explained everything clearly. My friend and I had a great time ! He also gave us various little gifts, we were delighted. I highly recommend !
Our instructor Tatsu was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and personable. He truly cares about the experience of his students and ensures that everyone has a finished piece that they are proud of. He can speak authoritatively about the art of kintsugi and explain the cultural relevance, and how and why kintsugi is practiced today, and the changes that the art has undergone in the hundreds of years since its inception. The time we spent with Tatsu was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan.
This class was really fun! Tatsu is very engaging, patient, and an excellent teacher. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with him!
This experience was fantastic. Excellent instructor. The class was inside a small lounge. It was a beautiful, peaceful place. And we were able to take home a souvenir with personal meaning.
The class takes a bit of hand control for detail work. But the instructor/guide was very patient and kind. He was prepared for people to make mistakes and had replacements available. It was q great way to learn about traditional craft in a modern, time sensitive way.
Tatsu was absolutely the best. He was very clear in his directions and spoke really good English. My husband, son, and I had a great time making Kintsugi. If you are in Tokyo I would recommend taking his class. He talked about the history of it and the traditional materials used to create it.
We had such a great time with our knowledgeable instructor. Learned about the repair techniques and created our own personalized piece. So fun!
We had an absolutely wonderful experience at the kintsugi class in Ginza! ✨ Our instructor was not only incredibly skilled but also patient and welcoming, guiding us through each step of the process with clear explanations and hands-on support. The studio had a calming atmosphere, and we loved learning about the philosophy behind kintsugi.
Great experience! Tatsu san is a patient and detailed instructor. He gives you a little history on kintsugi and is with you every step of the way in the process. For it being my first time, and due to his direction, I think my piece came out beautiful. I love it! I now have a special souvenir I made myself. I recommend this to anyone wanting a kintsugi experience!
Such a chilled way to experience something different. Super friendly, loved the chats with our host. Highly recommend!
We had a great time at this workshop and so happy to learn about Kintsugi. Nice and calm atmosphere so a good way to get away from the city fuzz for a spell.
My husband and I had a great time. The instructor was informative, helpful, friendly, and very kind. We learned a lot and also got to take home a piece of art that we will always remember. Thank you! - Bianca
We had such a fun time! Got to get the full Kintsugi experience and understand the history clearly. Our guide was personable and we enjoyed the intimate setting. Learned a lot, had fun doing it, and left with a fun piece of art. Worth checking out!
