So glad we spent the morning on a bike tour led by Andy. We learned a lot about modern Japanese life and culture from an Australian who has lived in this part of Japan for many years. The tour wound through residential and commercial neighborhoods. We made stops at local, traditional businesses and enjoyed tasty foods. Even those in our group of 4 who had visited Japan before felt they learned a lot. The bikes are comfortable and the ride is flat. Riders definitely must be comfortable mixing with pedestrians and other cyclists. Very enjoyable!

Do this tour!! Andy is a fantastic guide and took us on a wonderful journey through trendy neighborhoods, quiet local streets and along the river. We learnt tips and tricks about life in Tokyo and had delicious food and snacks along the way that we would have struggled to find without him. Thanks Andy!
Andy gave us the single most memorable of an overall fantastic trip to Japan. He shared with us his personal experiences living in Japan, took us on a tour of his neighborhood and beyond, and helped us interpret what we had seen and would see later on our trip. The ride itself was well planned out, easy and fun, almost exclusively on back roads, little alleys and paths, and through parks. The food was local and so tasty! I cannot recommend a bike tour with Andy strongly enough. Jeff and Carolyn, Newton, Massachusetts USA
This is not to be missed! A superb introduction to Japan and day to day life which left the bar very high for all other activities ! We were lucky enough to be on a private tour but with a mac group size of six it would still feel personal. Andy was terrific sharing so much info and detail around what life is like in Tokyo , giving us insight into education, buying houses, family life, love hotels …. And the food and drink side of things - all on a bike! Easy cycling through narrow streets and roads - never did we feel unsafe it was a very relaxed pace but we managed to cover the ground well and Andy was such a great guide . Thank you Andy . I will be recommending you to all or friends intending to visit Tokyo !!
Even with some rain a wonderful tour. You get to see a different part of Tokyo away from the crowds. Biking through the twistsy roads, seeing some sites, learning about life in the area, and eating good food! There aren’t many better ways to spend half a day.
Great tour though a lesser known part of Tokyo. Andy is a very good guide; he shared lots of interesting facts about the area and Japanese culture. We definitely learned some new things! The food was tasty and unique. Highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a fun way to experience Tokyo life.
The best way to see a city- on a bike. Andy was an excellent guide. His bikes were comfy and my group of 8 (family) had no problems. We can all ride a push bike. He is very knowledgeable about the area and Japanese life in general. We had a great time, ages from 58 to 20. The snacks and lunch along the way were delicious. Lots of rest stops along the way. Definitely recommend for single, couples or a big family, like us. Thanks for taking care of us, Andy.
I have done around 30 bike tours in my life, but Andy's one is definitely one of the best. I loved that bike tour, a really off the beaten path tour. We saw the real life of some less known quarters of Tokyo. We stopped at several places to get some delicious bites of the local cuisine. It was a very good and balanced mix of cycling, sightseeing, tastings and talking. Very safe cycling. No lunch was needed anymore. A very authentic and informative cycling tour. We could feel the vibes of Tokyo in an exciting way.
This was a fantastic tour. It was me and my 20 year old son Jack. Really well thought through and organised. Andy was so friendly and knowledgable. He covered so many interesting things about living in Tokyo that you just wouldn’t get on a big tour. A highlight was the local lunch. Can’t recommend this highly enough if you like to get get to know a city and get away from just the main tourist attractions.
What a way to learn about Tokyo and Japan! Andy is an absolute gun, we had a blast on our tour. He’s lovely, fun and so generous with his time. Great for experiencing Tokyo as a local! Exactly what we were looking for and would recommend it for everyone that passes through Tokyo.
Lots of bike riding. Shared a good history of the area and Japanese culture, very personable guide and fluent in English.
Andy Miller is a fun guy to be with for a couple of hours in the middle of Tokyo with his engaging Aussie personality and knowledge of Japanese culture, and customes
Andy was a great tour guide, providing a lot of interesting info on Japan and Japanese culture. He was very attentive, always checking on the tour participants. I am an experienced biker so it was a very easy ride with lots of stops. The only challenge I can see for less experienced riders is maneuvering through some bike gates.
Andy was such a great host - learnt so much more from a real character on a bike than an online AI version. Couldn't recommend someone more highly. Thanks
It was a wonderful experience. Andy was extremely knowledgable and interesting to talk to. I would recommend this cycle tour to everyone.
A fantastic way to taste local food and see the sights all on a very comfortable bike. Andy was a fantastic host and really knew his stuff as we weaved in and out of the side streets. We are still buzzing hours after the trip.
The bike ride was the best backstreet tour we experienced in Tokyo. Andy scoped out a ride that was local, winding through suburbs, laneways, parkland and finishing in a commercial area. We walked through unique shopping areas, ate local food and really enjoyed talking with Andy about life in Tokyo. As a guide, Andy was generous and engaging with information. The “shopping” style bikes were incredibly well maintained and rode well. I loved this tour.
Had an amazing morning out riding through the neighbourhood with Andy. Really got to see what Tokyo is like. Andy has heaps of information about Tokyo and was happy to answer any questions. Would recommend this tour.
Andy was an incredible tour guide focused on immersing us into the Japanese culture & unique experiences that made the trip amazing! Well done Andy! Thank you!
Wonderful day thanks Andy, Loved the cycling through your part of japan .A great personable snd informative tour for anyone wanting a bit of excercise and some tasty snacks thrown in
This was a real highlight of our trip to Korea and Japan. It was great to get away from the crowds and tourists and spend some time riding around the suburbs of Tokyo and getting a bit more of an idea of how real people in Tokyo actually live. Andy was a great guide and we enjoyed immensely touring his neighbourhood and sampling some great local food along the way. Highly recommended.
This was one of the BEST experiences in Tokyo. What a superb way to see some of the locality. Andy is a great guide! Highly recommend.
Comments from a friend who was in our tour and doesn’t have Viator….. This was my first bike tour ever and I LOVED it!!! A definite must do! Andy (Aussie from Melbourne) was very informative, happy and friendly. He took us round all the back alleys and pathways only a local would know. I was not a confident rider but Andy helped me and as they say…it’s like riding a bike, you never forget ;) The noodles for lunch and the snacks along the way were delicious (as everything is in Japan). Andy meetings at the train station and then at the end of the ride we left him at his garage where all his bikes are. It was just a short walk along the same street to the station or bars and restaurants (if you’re still hungry) on way home. Will be doing more bike rides now on our travels, let’s hope they live up to Andy!“
This food and bike tour was the highlight of our trip. Andy is Australian with plenty of knowledge about the local areas & Japanese culture. Our family can’t stop talking about this tour. Andy was so nice and also engaged in conversation with our teenage kids. The food we ate was very tasty. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting a fun day out.
Fantastic morning riding around outer suburbs of Tokyo with Andy. Really enjoyed his information on living in Japan and the tour of a different neighbourhood. Bikes were easy to ride and he ensured we were safe as we negotiated narrow roads. Stopped for snacks and lunch along the way...all delicious from small local vendors. Highly recommend.
Andy, you are the best!!, I booked a number of day tours during my 2 week stay in Japan, and this was one of the best. I learnt more from Andy in relation to the Japanese culture than any other tour. It was also a lot of fun and we got exposure to some good eateries along the way. Thank you Andy, for making it so memorable.
What a fantastic experience, Andy was the perfect guide, giving a really good insight into Japanese life, riding down small lanes, eating local specialities, we had the perfect morning, thank you.
Had a great ride through all the back streets and lanes. Got to see a side of Tokyo I didn't know existed with Andy explaining with a great knowledge of the area. A must for everyone visiting Tokyo.
This was such a fun tour and a great insight into life in Tokyo beyond the tourist areas. We weaved our way through the quiet backstreets and our lovely guide Andy explained what life in Tokyo is really like. Fascinating to learn about everything from schooling, social life and even the perils of compulsory stints as resident rubbish warden!! I am not an experienced rider and was a little nervous but Andy made sure I was comfortable and guided me through always checking that the group were happy and having fun. Food stops were interesting and delicious too. This is the best tour we have found in Tokyo and highly recommend it. Thanks for looking after me so well Andy!
Great tour would highly recommend starting your trip with this. I lived in Tokyo several years ago but still learnt a lot of new info in this 4 hour tour which better informed the rest of our stay in Tokyo. Loved all the local info and inights, food choices were all delicious. We did this with our 11 and 13 year old daughter, the street biking felt safe and a great mix of small streets and parks.
Andy was an awesome tour guide—super friendly and full of great info. We visited a bunch of spots during our bike tour, and it was so cool exploring the west side of Tokyo. Loved trying the local food and snacks in Kōenji and Nakano! The bikes were easy to ride, and it gave us a whole new appreciation for how people get around Tokyo. Highly recommend spending a day with Andy to check out the districts of Tokyo.
The bike tour was great fun and Andy showed us a side of Tokyo that we’d never would’ve seen on our own. There were 5 in our group of varying levels of fitness and riding experience. Andy looked after us all and we didn’t have any problems. The places we ate, the places we saw and what we learned about life in Tokyo was all fascinating, plus Andy send us all sorts of useful tips for the rest of our time here. He was a great guide, very friendly and helpful. I can’t recommend DIG Tokyo Tours highly enough.
This is definitely a bike tour not to be missed! I have visited Tokyo many times but this was my first opportunity to gain a much deeper insight into what it’s like living in Tokyo through exploring the back streets on bike together with Andy’s in-depth knowledge. I took my young adult children and they also loved the experience. I’d suggest doing when first arrive in Tokyo as it is a quick and fun way to get orientated. I would be surprised if even the most experienced visitor didn’t learn something new from Andy’s tour. Would do it again and have recommended to friends and family. (Tip: glad we only had light breakfast beforehand as there is generous snacking like a local along the way).
We absolutely loved Andy’s cycling tour! We cycled through the backstreets of some traditional streets of Tokyo - we heard about the local customs and tasted some delicious local food. Andy’s knowledge and experience was invaluable. Andy was so patient making sure each of the kids were ok on their bikes and he was always making sure that we were riding together. Thank you Andy - it was definitely a highlight of our trip!
Can’t recommend Andy’s bike tour highly enough! Such a great way to see some less touristy sights around Tokyo. Andy’s knowledge of Tokyo life was so interesting - as a family of 4 we all enjoyed it so much & was a highlight of our trip to Tokyo!
Fantastic day out with the family. Our 3 kids (10, 13, 15) all loved the ride and being able to experience something so authentic. It was great to see real Tokyo neighbourhoods and understand more of the everyday culture. Andy was fun, patient and great with explaining everything. I’m an adequate but not confident cyclist and I was really happy and relaxed. Would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Tokyo.
Thank you to Andy for a brilliant bike tour! We loved finding out about everyday life of locals in Tokyo and cycling in local neighbourhoods. The snacks and lunch provided were delicious! Andy made the ride safe, interesting and funny with his friendly humour! We were fascinated by the information he shared. We would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Tokyo. It was a very memorable part of our 12 days in Japan! Thank you Andy!
Andy’s biking tour is fun for all ages. You really get a feel for life in Tokyo. This is the best tour we had in Tokyo. I highly recommend.
We booked a group trip for four of us including a 9 and 12 year old on a transit day. It was a fantastic way to get moving and see Tokyo after a day on the plane. Andy managed the needs of our group perfectly and the tour was well thought out to give us some great insight into Tokyo’s culture and customs. We loved it! Thanks Andy
Andy’s bike tour has been a highlight of our trip to Tokyo! He took us to hidden spots we’d never have found on our own and shared great stories about the city. The tour included a stop for some delicious local food, which our whole family loved—especially our boys. The pace was perfect, and Andy made sure we all felt safe and had fun. If you’re looking for a unique, family-friendly way to explore Tokyo, this is it. Thanks, Andy, for a fantastic day!
A charming ride through a part of Tokyo that isn’t on the itinerary for many visitors, getting an understanding of how ordinary residents live. Andy is a knowledgeable and helpful guide to the area (where he lives) and a welcoming host. He kept our group of six out-of-towners safe, informed, cheerful, and well-fed. An outstanding tour, highly recommended!
What an awesome tour Andy was so helpful ensuring our two families could enjoy a tour we all had the best time. It was a great way to experience the local sights and culture including some great food stops. 100% recommend this tour Andy is knowledgeable and friendly you won't regret it.
Our bike / food tour was everything that I had hoped it would be. Andy, our guide, was friendly and informative. We were able to see parts of Tokyo that would have gone unnoticed if we had only used the train. Also, we got to know a little about daily life in Tokyo, including housing, schools (you can’t drop off your children at school with a car) etc. The food portion of the tour was also quite nice. I would definitely recommend the his tour to someone who wants to see Tokyo for a slightly different perspective.
Dig Tokyo with Andy We likely would not have done or known about this tour, except our son and daughter-in-law did this the tour in early September. They said it was their high light of Tokyo. We have to agree with them. It had everything, quiet rides through neighborhoods and parks and then commingling with the lunch time crowds. Totally appreciate an outsider’s perspective on Japanese life. Many thanks and 5 thumbs up rating…. Pat and Gavin Proudfoot
Me and my daughter absolutely loved our morning/afternoon bike ride tour! Loved riding around different parts of Tokyo and stopping at places to eat. Andy is an awesome guy and very knowledgeable about the areas we went around and Japan life. Definitely recommend it!
Such a fantastic tour with a very knowledgable and caring guide. Andy made each person feel welcome straight off the bat. He also gave us some very interesting information and tit bits about life in Tokyo. The ride was relatively easy, but did require some maneuvering around objects on the pathways, so some basic riding skills required! This tour has been the highlight of our trip to Japan so far. Thank you Andy!! Glen and Kristy
We had a lovely morning tour of Tokyo's West Side neighborhoods (which we wouldn't have necessarily explored on our own). Andy was a knowledgeable, friendly and funny guide, and we enjoyed the experience!
Amazing cycling tour in a typical TK neighbourhood. Andy is full of knowledge about local costumes and way of life. He helped us discover hideaways and specialties. Great time.
We had a great half day with Andy on the bikes. He is friendly, knowledgeable about Japan and knows the back streets well. He took us places we would not have found on our own, and the noodles were some of the best we've eaten on our trip. I'll be recommending this to our friends. It was relaxed and not crowded on the bike route. It's a great addition to the busier sights in Tokyo like Shibuya, which can be overwhelming.
We knew that when we came to Tokyo, we really wanted to see the city from a bicycle - do as the locals do of course but its also such a great way to take in the vibe of a place and see some tucked away areas you wouldn’t normally get to. We looked into DIG bicycle tours and were immediately drawn to Andy’s site and bike and snack tour through some of the older and less touristy areas of Tokyo. The tour did not disappoint! Andy was super welcoming and a perfect host. The bikes he provided were comfortable, well maintained and he even had a smaller size for our 10 year old, which was perfect. Andy guided us carefully through the amazing and eclectic areas of Koenji and Asagaya, intermittently stopping to detail interesting historical facts and even everyday ways of Japanese life. The final stop in Nakano tied it all together nicely with an easy walking tour through the shopping district finishing up with some delicious local eats to die for. Thanks again Andy for such a great afternoon. The ride was easy, enjoyable and a great way to get a snap shot of a small part of this awesome city.
