The photshoot experience was great. The host was energetic and the samurai armors were amazing. Would recommend
It was a great experience. Had so much fun and the staff were wonderful. Would highly recommend
Very nice staff and plenty of time to take photos after the offical photo session.
This is something that I've wanted to do. To dress as a samurai warrior. I got to the studio an hour earlier than my scheduled appointment. The staff were able to accommodate without any problems. They are super friendly and help you get dressed in the armor of your choice. There are a number of options to choose from. As they dress you they explained about the parts of the armor and why things were done or put on in a certain way. It was very informative. They then start the photo session and will suggest poses to do based on the person's armor you are wearing. You will spend about an hour from the time you enter till you leave. I'm really glad I made reservations for this. I had fun and have the photos as a memento of this wonderful experience!
Absolutely wonderful experience and I recomend anyone who goes to Japan visits. Will definetly be going again in the future!!
This was such a fun experience! I am really into Japanese culture and history and having just learned about the Sengoku period was really cool to be a part of by trying on the armor! The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the process and the armor sets. I speak both Japanese and English, so both the lady and gentleman that helped me properly explained the process, explained the history, and allowed me to take multiple poses with the armor. I chose the Nobunaga armor and they both explained how the armor was put on, what it’s called in Japanese and why, and helped put it on me and pose me in a great way for the photo! I did the regular plan and a photo add on, which was perfect for me. The bigger plans are definitely worth it for a much larger group. I definitely recommend giving this place a try! You get to feel like a samurai back in Japanese history!
Experience was like no other! Best photo shoot anyone can take in Tokyo! Staff was incredibly generous and kind! Definitely recommend this place and give them a 10/10!
Great experience with very detailed history of every armor and an easy phot session we will remember with our family!!
Loved it. Really made me feel like a real samurai warrior. Felt welcoming and comfortable. Will come back again for the kids to try.
A must do experience if you are into Japanese samurai history. Taro san, the owner was very friendly and took the time to explain the history of the Samurai and each pieces of the armor. Overall, it was a worthwhile experience.
This was such a great and unique experience. You get to put on samurai armors worn by historical figures and learn about them. The owners were such nice and knowledgeable people.
What a great experience. We had so many laughs. Such a great time and left with amazing photos to keep forever. An amazing keepsake from our trip to Japan.
Learning, meeting people, experiencing new things, and making memories are why I travel. Sengoku accomplished all of these. Our group was 3 people from the US with no Japanese language skills, and I made reservations online. The team at Sengoku Photo Studio's English skills got us organized and directed for the photos. If as a kid (or adult) you ever played "dress up", RPGs or just cowboys, this is for you! Be a samurai for a couple of hours! If you watched Shogun, and thought it was cool (yes, I did) then this is for you! I didn't realize what cool things could be done with a green screen, but even all the behind the scenes photos we took are a hoot! We ranged in size and weight from a slim 5'7" to almost 200 lbs 5"10. Sengoku had armor to fit us all, and has children's sizes as well. This is some very intricate outfitting, not a mail order Halloween costume. The team is professional, friendly, talented and we very much enjoyed our time with them. Imagine, you not only get to dress the part, but there is a certain satisfaction in the posing and shouting to attack as you ready your sword! At the end of your photoshoot, your chosen photos, a thumb drive of others not printed, and other items (we chose canvas prints and mugs) are ready to go with you. The entire experience was so much fun! This will be a great memory from our trip to Japan, and I know I will look at these photos with joy and appreciation for the great experience.
Yeah, you can Photoshop yourself into all kinds of things, but that doesn't get you the interaction, education, experience or happy memories that a real photoshoot provides. This is a chance to dress up in wonderful gear/costume, appreciate the culture, enjoy the professional, friendly, and helpful staff, laugh a lot, and get photos and mugs, etc. to remember it all. I feel so lucky to have discovered Samurai Sengoku Photo Studio! It is a small place with a big personality! To give you more context, we are from the US, speak no Japanese, and the photoshoot team's English was easily up to the task of guiding us. We ranged from a very slim 5'7 to a heavier 5'10 (ok, so I'm almost 200lbs, and made a fierce samurai), and there was appropriate size gear. They fit children, too. The photos and the other prints (canvas, mugs, etc.) that you choose are printed during your shoot and are ready when you leave. I highly recommend this experience.
Great experience and awesome selection of armors. I wish I could have tried all the armors. Taro and Junko were excellent!! Highly recommend.
Such a fun activity to do in tokyo. Owners are super friendly and more than happy to explain the history of the armour you are wearing. So fun to sress up and also see your friends in a professional photoshoot fully kitted out as samurai. Highly reccomend and the photos look elite!
My mate and I did this samurai photoshoot and it was outstanding! We learnt about samurai history and did the photoshoot with phenomenal service all the way through. It was such a fun experience and we laughed a lot. Photos turned out great too.
I took my 16-year-old son to the studio for the two-hour Samurai photoshoot. It was an easy walk from Shinjuku Station, following Google map. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. They were also extremely knowledgeable. We loved hearing their detailed explanations about Japanese history and the techniques used to make armers during the Sengoku war period. Selecting an armor, dressing, and taking pictures were done very quickly and smoothly. I remember that the whole session was done within an hour and a half. My son was very excited about the opportunity to wear an authentic Samurai armor. It was definitely a memorable experience for him. The pictures came out very nicely. We also bought coasters with a small additional cost. They were nice keepsakes. We hope to do the photoshoot again during our next trip to Japan. Thank you!
Coming here was easily one of the best choices we made in Tokyo. My wife was skeptical, but she ended up having as much fun as I did. From choosing the armor, to getting ceremonially dressed, to doing the photo shoot, to choosing your 4 backdrops, everything was professional. But the BEST thing was interacting with the photographer and his assistant. They were energetic, enthusiastic and with their (broken) English, made the morning a hoot! They even photographed my wife in a kimono at no extra charge. We left with a handful of hardcopy photos, a thumb drive with everything, and great memories. Worth every penny.

I had a amazing time taking pictures. They were super friendly and energetic the whole time. I love how the pictures came out!
I don't think my husband and I stopped smiling during this entire experience -except, of course, when my husband had to look fierce for the photos. How the experience works is that you book a 2-hour photo shoot which comes with 6 printed photos with the amazing backgrounds. In addition, you get ALL of the green screen photos on both a flash drive and in the cloud server Dropbox. You can choose to pay extra if you'd like your photos on coasters, throw pillows, mugs, etc. They can put your photos on these gifts in about 10 minutes, so you walk out with them if you want them. They have many backgrounds for you to choose from. You get to choose which armor you'd like to wear from a long hallway of options. The armor are very high quality reproductions of real, legendary Samurai. There are tons of weapons and artifacts (props) to choose from to accentuate your photos. There were two guides who spoke a little bit of English (and we spoke zero Japanese except "hello" and "thank you"), but we were able to understand what was expected of us. The free Google translate app was quite helpful too! I booked the photo shoot for my husband. If I had wanted to be a Samurai too, it would have been charged as a second experience. But, as a free bonus, I was able to take a few photos with my husband while wearing a beautiful Kimono that they draped over me. I was very content with this option. My husband got changed into black base layers before donning the armor. The guides took their time dressing him, explaining the purpose of each piece of armor. They made sure that we removed our modern day accessories (like the Apple watch and jewelry) so that we looked period-appropriate. They also gave us the name and history of the Samurai whose armor my husband chose to wear. He was a fierce warrior and my husband was proud to wear his armor. We never ever felt rushed. We felt super welcome. This was a great experience and I cannot recommend it enough!
We did with my fiancé the Matsu plan for two people on the morning of the 12th of May 2024 and it was truly the best experience we had of our entire trip in Tokyo! The studio team was wonderful and very professional! They did an amazing job and the pictures came out incredible! Taro Nakamura sensei was so friendly and educational! He explained the history of the armours and the meaning of each piece. It was such an honour to see Tateki Matsuura sensei's demonstration of sword drawing and kata! He was really kind and patient and taught us the basics of sword drawing! The whole experience was so fun, so interesting and just "Kakkoii"!!! I highly recommend the Sengoku photo studio to anyone who wants to make a fantastic memory as a samurai!
To celebrate my 60th birthday, I visited this studio because I was reluctant to take pictures with my red one. I asked Sanada Nobushige for armor at Akazonae. Both the cameraman and shopkeeper and the female staff members were very kind and attentive, especially the shopkeeper, who seemed to know a lot about history and took photos while telling us many different stories about history. The resulting photos were also very good, and I think they were memorable photos.
The experience process is great, for my English 0 minutes of Japanese study, the boss is still patient to use translation to talk to me, this time wearing Beno Feng, the next time I will wear Feng Shui
