Great experience, very worthwhile. Our guide, Paloma, took us to lots of places with amazing food and very varied. She was very informative and thoughtful of what we wanted to do. I would highly recommend this, as walking past all the vendors it could be a bit overwhelming to pick without a guide that knows what is best.

Shintaro was our guide. Perfect English with knowledge of historical Japan. Took us to good shops. Best tour so far in Tokyo
Shinataro, our guide, was knowledgeable and friendly, a nice way to tour the Market! Do this tour!!!
Rie was delightful and informative and gave us great history and places to stop for best quality and prices.
Wonderful experience. Tour guide spoke excellent English. I am not sure how you could explore the fish market without a guide. There were so many stalls and crowds, it would have been overwhelming. The guide led our group to a good variety of stalls and explained the best items to get at each one. Come hungry! I spent about 7000 yen at the booths, many of which are cash only. The quick visit to the temple before the market was an added bonus for this tour. Beautiful temple and I enjoyed the information shared by our guide and her explanation of the rituals. Also I appreciated that she gave everyone an opportunity to do the rituals but also repeatedly said they were optional, so there was no pressure if it wasn't your thing. Highly recommend.
Having a guide (Isabelle) to take us around the market had so much value for us as it was extremely busy and she took us to sample various street food, had a ton of knowledge about the area and made the experience manageable instead of overwhelming. I would highly recommend!
It would have been helpful to know how many places we were stopping at to buy food. The vendor choices were great.
Nikolai was a great tour guide, very knowledgeable about the market and helpful with ordering good. We had a lot of fun.
I expected to see the operations of an active market, to see actual full fish being traded (inner market). We were guided to various stores (outer market) selling seafood ready to eat. Accepting our guide took us to the better providers, the tour would benefit with a bit of structure, similar to how you might eat, entree, light foods then the more robust. With a focus on eating around the market, it might be useful to advise guests to come hungry. Or ready to indulge in a second breakfast. It's an easy place to explore on your own and avoid a fee
A really nice experience of the Tsukiji fish market. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, would definitely recommend.
Must have about 5000 yen each person to get full experience. Our tour guide Yayoi was great! Two teenage daughters enjoyed too.
The tour was nothing what was written in the brief that we would expect, the temple was a great experience and our guide did tell us a bit of history about the temple. As for the rest of the tour . When I booked it it said we will be in entrenched in the local atmosphere of the market and told about the 80 year history of the markets we were told nothing about the market and we just walked around the stalls which we could’ve done on our own.! Waste of money!
Our tour guide Shino was very knowledgeable of this market and showed us the best shops to get great food. It was a fun experience for the whole family!
Great first activity to do in Tokyo! As a foodie, found the recommendations were really good, so much so we went back for more after the tour!
The guide did not show up at the designated meeting location, and it took approximately 30 minutes to locate them. We tried calling the provided contact number multiple times, but no one answered. Overall, the experience felt very disorganized and was quite disappointing.
Great tour that showed us the way in the food market and where best to eat. Optional of course to buy any food but a good opportunity to try…
Our visit to Tokyo was enhanced by this tour of the old fish market. Sayaka provided great information about the Buddhist temple and then escorted us to various food stalls for samples and purchases. The group was small. It was nice to meet fellow travelers. I highly recommend this tour😊
Our tour with Yayoi was one of the highlights of our trip! We tried so many food options we would've never found without her, and her recommendations were top tier. The food was tasty, fresh, and a great intro to the local cuisine. We skipped breakfast which was a good call because we left with our tummies full. We even took home some Japanese snacks based on Yayoi's recommendations to gift to loved ones. She was very knowledgeable and shared much appreciated historical context with us. I especially appreciated our visit to Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple. With so many tourist traps and viral spots around, having her as our tour guide was a game changer.
Good experience and guide. Stopped at a temple before hand which was cool. Pro tip: you can go to the back of the market and buy a bunch of food and rent a grill on top of the market for a unique experience. Wish they would tell you about that.
We loved our experience of fish market tour yesterday with Yayoi - our guide. We spend more than 2 weeks in Japan and mostly organized everything ourselves, but guided tours are very beneficial. We learned a lot during this one, enjoyed the company and the guide's suggestions. Recommend this tour and Yayoi.
I am glad I booked this tour. The tour was in the morning with our flight departing later that evening. Our tour guide was Rie and she met us on time, was very informative and took us to a couple of good spots to try the fresh sea food/ beef. We had some young kids in the group and she was very patient with them/ parents which was nice. We could have walked through the market ourselves but we always like to know what the locals buy/ eat/ shop and get a perspective on the place through them. It was a good 2 hours spent before we rushed back to catch our flight back home. Would recommend this tour for anyone who eats meat/ sea food (I don't, but my family does and they loved sampling a bit of everything) :)
Shino is a great guide and led an interesting culinary tout of the fish markets and temple. Shino was thoughtful and kind of our needs as a group.
Excellent tour! Our guide was very good. He provided detailed information on each stop and even provided recommendations on shops / vendors, food, etc. I highly recommend this tour....very efficient and fun.
Great experience! Guide was very nice and pleasant, really professional. Fish market is an interesting place. We could taste some typical food that we never found elsewhere during our Japan trip. Very recommended!!!
A fun tour of the fish market! Before we went to the market we went to the Buddhist temple which was fascinating and in the Indian style. The fish market was amazing! We tried many different items including sushi, oysters, Japanese rolled omelet, eel, whiskey, Wagyu beef and sweet treats. Our guide was great!
This is a very nice tour. Neither me nor my wife is a real foodie but we both enjoyed this tour very much. For the success of any enterprise two things are needed: concept and execution. For this tour, both are excellent. The concept: in contrast to other Tokyo food tours like those at Shibuya or Shinjuku for which the cost of food is part of the total cost, so that you eat what the tour guide orders, on this tour you are shown several places and have a choice: eat now or move on and eat later at another place. The execution: our tour guide Riki was excellent. He speaks virtually native English, is very knowledgeable, and knows the market extremely well, so he brought us to places that he knew we could try some ready-made food to decide whether to buy it, and also he showed us several places where the food is being prepared to decide whether we stay or move on to the next location. He also showed us an interesting Buddhist temple nearby (which was our first stop on the tour), and a knife shop where we bought an authentic Japanese knife. Overall: an excellent experience, one of the best tours we’ve ever been on: Very well deserved five stars!
Our guide was excellent. The food was tasty. We bought some cool things. Met some nice people. It's was not expensive. It was worth it.
Exceptional Tour and "must do"for anyone visiting Tokyo. Yayoi was amazing and this turned out to be a highlight of our time. We'll worth every cent and more!!
Booked our tour for 9:00 am to get a jump on the day. Since it was a 90 minute tour we would have more afternoon exploring the city. We started at the temple and then the fish market which was a quick walk through and then finished in the markets to purchase any food sampling you desire. Since we booked early we were mostly full from Breakfast but we did have grilled Alaskan King Crab which was amazing!!! Our guide spoke English and shared many facts on the area. Booked through Viator as always as I know they get only the best!
We thought the tour was great and Riki was a fantastic guide. The temple visit was nice and we enjoyed all the different foods.
In theory one could do the temple and the fish market by oneself and for free, but it can get easily very overwhelming. All the food stalls we passed were very tasty and lots of interesting information was given. The guide is super helpful and will take care of all communication, so if you prefer a hasslefree experience: this is your tour. If you feel adventurous and are not afraid of communicating with the locals, you can also do the fish market on your own, it's just a food market open to the public.
Hayden great guide - really enjoyed learning about market and tasting the food! Amazing experience alll around - thank you!
We left this tour and did our own. Take my advice and get dropped in the morning before the crowds come and select your own delicious spots. There is no fee to visit the temple and market as listed on this experience. Our tour guide was nice, but we had late guests we had to wait for as well as it was such an awkward tour all together. I was really disappointed. Anyone can take this tour on their own. It is a waste of time and money.
We had a great tour at the fish market and temple. Joe was very welcoming and knowledgeable. The market was crazy busy but Joe made sure that we had great bites to eat and saw all the highlights!
Great tour, knowledgeable guide. We enjoyed from start to finish. Variety of tastings at many stores.
An amazing market. It is overwhelming the amount of foods to see and taste. Our guide Kane navigated it for us so we just got to enjoy.
Jim was able to provide a great introduction to the market, both the history behind the market and the context of food within Japan’s Shinto background. And, let’s be honest - all the best stalls at the market. I took the tour at like 10am and I still wasn’t hungry at dinner time.
Jim was fantastic We enjoyed the food and Jim explained a lot of the history about the origin of the different food. We think Jim went above and beyond for our group
We had a great guide, Andres, who introduced us to Japanese history and culture, and to delicious local food. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
Jim, our guide, gave us a local's perspective on the Tsukiji Fish Market. He has lived in Japan for many years and shared his insight on Japanese customs and etiquette. We enjoyed the tour very much.
Jim Allen was a good guide. I enjoyed tasting the fresh food. I really liked the sushi. I was not much of a fan of the scallops.
This is the most local fish market with excellent seafood and tastings to enjoy! It is a must! The tour guide tried to answer all questions and keep everyone content.
The tour we had was good as we wouldn't know all the tips and recommendations of market vendors. However, I was surprised that aside from a few samples of nuts/seaweed snacks etc., this tour didn't include any other food samples. We could have taken a free walking tour. The guide was very good (Andreas ? can't remember). That day, his partner was late and Andreas ran basically ran the whole tour with a BIG group (which would have otherwise been divided into two groups) and did a wonder job. He was passionate, informative and very professional.
Doren lead us into the depths of Tsukiji Market and what a delight it was! There was plenty of delicious foods to see, smell and try. The local traders were all friendly and really accommodating with the group, making the whole experience easy, fun and plenty to eat!
Ryoto was a great and enthusiastic guide. He showed us the best stalls for different foods, provided background and context for local specialties, and was overall very attentive and thorough. Highly recommend if you plan on visiting the market!
Excellent guide on this tour who took us to stores offering great value and avoiding tourist traps. worth the trip!
Our guide, yota was easy to understand and very knowledgeable. It was a great experience to walk through the market and have the produce explained to us.
Fantastic tour. Nao is an amazing guide. He knew the culture, history and where the good food was. Positive happy young guide from Japan. He was a great guide and loved him more than other guides on other food tours. I highly recommend this tour and Nao!
Really enjoyed the tour with Rio who spoke well & made the tour a lot of fun. Tasted some lovely food. Had thought we would see more of the actual fish stalls.
We had our tour with a nice, small group of people and visited 5-6 different stalls within the market. It’s great to have a guide show you the « best » places to get traditional dishes. Nice and easy, no frills tour.
