Itinerary
Experience the timeless art of Kintsugi in a tranquil Asakusa studio just minutes from Senso ji Temple. Under the guidance of a skilled local artisan, you’ll learn how to mend broken pottery using traditional urushi lacquer and real gold powder—the centuries-old technique that celebrates imperfections rather than hiding them. Begin by assembling the ceramic pieces, applying lacquer with precision, and brushing gold along the natural lines of the cracks. As you work, your instructor shares the philosophy behind Kintsugi, where repair becomes a form of renewal and beauty. Set in one of Tokyo’s most historic districts, this hands-on workshop offers a peaceful moment of creativity and cultural insight. You’ll leave with your own golden-repaired ceramic piece, a unique and meaningful souvenir from Asakusa.

Super experience! Mai is an excellent teacher!
My husband and I had a great time! Lots of fun with this crafting work. We got to choose our own plate or bowl to work on. This was a fabulous experience! Highly recommended! Would definitely visit again! April and Serena had been great and helpful! Thank you so much ☺️
We had such a fun time making Kinsugi with John. He was so patient with our kids and we all had a wonderful time. Highly recommend.
I had an amazing time with April. She gave good advice, helped with the craft, and gave a history lesson which I learned a lot from her.
Awesome people , April was amazing!
April and Nisa were a great help. It was a lot of fun to see beauty in the brokenness of Kintaugi.
April and Nisa were wonderful! Highly recommend this experience.
I had a wonderful experience. Maho guided me beautifully in creating my art piece and explained the philisophy behind wabi-sabi. Highly recommend to everyone looking for an authentic experience in Tokyo.
Amazing experience! Thanks, Ruena, for your guidance during the workshop.

Another fun craft with Zen experience. Ruena is an amazing teacher. She described the history of Kintsugi and patiently showed us the way to bring out the beauty of a broken bowl.
The experience was great and Kumiko was a wonderful instructor! We were very happy with our final products :)
Great experience!! The staff were super nice as well :) Definitely recommend, even if you’re not good at arts and crafts!
April led us with precision. Very worth it experience and a one of a kind of gift for my mother. Happily would do it again.
A very nice kintsugi experience! Very good instructions and easily approachable. Very tourist friendly! Our instructor April had very good english and she was very good at giving instructions and entertaining the visitors
We had a great experience with April. She made the kintsugi so much fun.
Really fun and relaxing experiencing learning kintsugi. Mayuki was a great instructor and was clear with her instructions, patient and knew exactly what to do when something happens! Love my first kintsugi repaired plate and first experience!
This was such a great experience. We did the kinsuki, and it was so easy and very fun. I would highly recommend that you do this to get away from all the touristy things and try to slow down and have a great time doing some crafts.
Such a fun and artistic hands-on cultural experience! It was the perfect way to spend a rainy morning in Tokyo. We loved it.
April was fantastic! Nice and relaxing
April was wonderful! Kind, and very informative and helpful! Great selection of bowls to choose from and wonderful activity to do on a rainy day!
Great help from April on making our Kintsugi ceramics!
Kumiko was a wonderful teacher for our kintsugi class. The studio is spacious and well organised, and you have a wide range of choice for dishes you would like to work on.
I had a great time doing the kintsugi class! Hannah gave our table a detailed overview of the history of kintsugi and walked us through each step, even assisting me when I couldn't see where the plate cracks were for me to paint over. Even though I did this class solo, I met a super nice couple from Hawaii at my table that I had a fun time chatting with, so don't be afraid to take this class alone. I'd definitely do this again!
Great experience with John and April. Highly recommended.
We had an amazing experience with April and John. They were nice and very informative and helpful throughout the experience. A great souvenir
Cool experience. Ruena was a nice host!
This class was so much fun! Our teacher Sui was very helpful and easy to follow. She made the class very relaxing as well as educational. Great activity, and not too time consuming (took about an hour), so you have plenty of time for other activities during the day :)
A must-do experience in Japan! Sui was the best instructor, so kind and took the best photos at the end. This is a really special, unique activity that was one of my most favorite experiences while in Japan. Thank you, Sui! ✌🏻🤍
Excellent experience with April who gave clear guidance throughout the process. The Zen studio was easy to find and well laid out. You could either use the standard pottery included or opt to pay extra for alternative pieces to use. April also gave us a brief history of how Kintsugi came into being which was very interesting.
While the plate in the photos wasn't an option, they had others for an upcharge available, the guide was very friendly and did her best with the table we were at! Nice time for the price and craft to take home
A fun and wonderful experience with April as our guide! Learn about this beautiful tradition and make your own souvenir.
My wife and I had a great time learning the art of Kintsugi. Our instructor was the very patient and kind Mai. You can tell she enjoys teaching. I would recommend this class and also the chopstick making and knife sharpening at this same studio, Zen Japanese Craft Studio.
We had such an amazing class. April our teacher explained everything so well and the class had a really nice flow to it. We are going home with two beautiful bits of ceramic.
Had an amazing experience with April! She was so helpful and we had a lovely time
Thank you April I had a great experience! Really enjoyable and well guided.
April was the absolute best! She explained it and made us feel great about it. This is a must do!
This Kintsugi experience was way too simple and easy. Authentic Kintsugi creates functional tableware, but this is only for display. Because the urushi was not completely dry and was already smeared when I unpacked it at home, this technique is only good for looking at, even though I had hoped to use the dish for actual meals.
Fun family activity! Thanks April for being so patient with the youngest!🙏😃
April was cery helpfull, clearly instructed me to do grate job.
April was a great teacher and we had a fantastic time doing kintsugi.
I really enjoyed this! April was great! Highly recommend this craft activity. You can bring a broken heirloom to repair by Kintsugi as well ☺️
The class was fantastic - such a great way to spend a morning! April was so patient, friendly and kind and my daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We walked away with a beautiful bowl too. Would highly recommend!
April was a fantastic instructor, easy to follow, very good manners and patient. My friend and me felt very comfortable with her. We love how she was efficient, profesional and with a beautiful smile. We highly recommend the experience , it is different, relaxing and at the same time you learn something new about Japan culture. It exceeded our expectations.
