This food tour was an absolute highlight of our time in Tokyo. We had 4 different food stops, each completely different and all delicious. It was great to visit places that we would probably have walked past if we were out on our own, and it has certainly changed our approach going forward. Our guide, Shuhei was amazing. So friendly and knowledgable he made the tour an absolute pleasure. I wont say anymore about the food, you just have to experience it for yourself. If you like your food, like trying something a bit different, all with great company, then you will love this food tour.

We enjoyed a fantastic few hours sampling the delights of izakayas with two very knowledgeable and experienced guides - Naomi and Oishii’s MD Naoko. We were joined by another couple and a lone traveller. The Oishii pair made us all very welcome. They shared insights into Japanese culture, supported by a folder full of fascinating facts. They willingly answered all and any questions. The two izakyayas were very different and the food was amazing. They explained the cuisine and how to eat like a local. We finished the evening with in a cocktail bar then dessert. It was a fantastic evening. We thoroughly recommend it. Oishii’s history as a company is awesome. Thanks, Naoko, Naomi and Team Oishii for the experience! Peter and Cei, UK.
Superb food tour around Ebisu’s Izakaya’s our host Evelyn was superb, her local knowledge was excellent and we loved the little snippets of local Japanese history. The venues were superb and friendly we Would certainly recommend Oishi tours and Evelyn
Guided by the excellent Kazumi we explored three Izakayas where we were expertly guided on the local culture, the different foods, all delicious, and sake. Kazumi also taught us some more basic Japanese phrase, how to use them appropriately and told us about the history of the area. A great trip to experience Tokyo as a local might and highly recommended
Best food tour I have attended! I went to the Izayaka one in Tokyo and we visited 3 different restaurants and had ice cream in the end! The guide, Shuhei, was also very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend!
We had a really fun and memorable night on the Izakaya tour. Shuhei was an excellent host - so friendly and informative. The food was great everywhere we went and we felt like we got to explore places we would never have been to on our own. It feels like you are getting to go out for the evening with a Japanese friend. We’d highly recommend Oishii to anyone interested in food and Japanese culture!
Spent 3 days in Tokyo, 2 days in Hiroshima, 3 days in Kyoto 3 days in Osaka. The trip was fabulous. Japan is the cleanest country we’ve ever visited.
Great start to our 10 day trip! Literally hopped off the plane, dropped bags at hotel and met up with Seiyo. He was full of great information ….. easy to talk to… we really enjoyed the tour.
If I could do this again. I would in a heartbeat! I did the izakaya underpass tour as a solo traveler and was joined by one couple and our guide, Ko. Ko was amazing! So personable. So lovely. So knowledgeable. So patient as we asked loads of questions. And the places he took us to were to die for. I've never had such good raw fish and steak. I especially loved the small group format because Ko was able to order us a bunch of little things (as is custom for Izakaya I believe). This meant we all got to try a lot of new things without committing to a full meal or dish. It felt like a lowkey, fun night out at dinner with friends. I plan to recommend this tour company, and Ko specifically, to my friends and family moving forward. And if I ever return, I look forward to taking one of the other tours.
10/10 experience, one of the best things we did in Tokyo. Ko is absolutely amazing and it felt like going for dinner with a good friend. He was the perfect tour host, so welcoming, friendly and so knowledgeable. You really get to experience authentic tokyo, a must do! Thank you ko!
Excellent tour with Hiro tonight. Great food and sake. The owner of one of the chicken Izakaya made a special welcome cake.
Seyio was our tour guide and he was amazing. Very knowledgable, accommodating, extremely polite and pleasant. Great variety of of food, excellently cooked. Absolutely delicious. Thank you ☺️
We had a fantastic tour led by Hiro. We visited two superb restaurants and a cool Izakaya bar in the Ginza region of Tokyo. The food was excellent, with highlights including A5 Wagyu steak, crab croquette and we even tried beef tongue. Hiro himself was great fun - very personable, had a great sense of humour, and had detailed knowledge of Tokyo and the local restaurants / bars. We are just sorry we did not take him up his offer to sing karaoke after the tour!
Shuhei was an amazing guide, very friendly and knowledgeable. We had great food and drinks in places we would never have found ourselves and he taught us useful Japanese phrases too! I would rate this trip 10/10!
The best food tour we have EVER been on . Hiro guide was a HERO. Wagyu A5 , fresh fish , wine , beer , sake - amazing. Recommend to anyone
We had the best time with Masa and Ko and our family of 10. They are amazing people, so fun, with so much energy. We tried places that were hidden gems and learned so much about Japanese culture. The food was delicious, the company was amazing, and it was all around a magical evening. Thank you so much Masa and Ko, we hope to meet again on a future trip!!! A++++++++.
A fabulous introduction to the world to the Izakayas in tokyo with fabulous food, gracious hosts and I would thoroughly recommend this tour. Our guides were Chise and Dan. They were great fun and very informative. Above all the food surpassed our expectations from the amazing fish at the sushi restaurant to the mouht watering wagyu beef.
Our guide was ShuHei and we had the most fantastic tour ever! The food was amazing, and drinks incredible. ShuHei was so gracious and helped us navigate the challenges of having 12 and 9 year old boys, and vegetarian mom. We had the best time and look forward to our next trip, and hope to have another night with ShuHei.
We did the Ebisu Izakaya tour with Mariko and it was excellent! Mariko is a local and we went to *actually local* restaurants with her. The menus had no English option and the majority of patrons at the places were clearly not tourists. The food and drink were great, but I reviewed them separately. The night ended with some delicious ice cream. My wife and I had the same comment. If we lived in Tokyo, we'd want to be Mariko's friend, because she was so personable, knowledgeable, and honest about what it's like to live in Japan. It felt more like a cultural exchange than just a simple food tour. One of the highlights of entire vacation in Japan!
We had a brilliant evening with Kazumi, doing the Tokyo underpass shared tour. We would highly recommend this to anyone new to Japan, as an introduction to different types of Japanese food. It was also a fantastic way to find the best local restaurants, that were reasonably priced. Kazumi was so warm, friendly and knowledgeable - it was lovely to spend an evening with her. Thank you for a brilliant tour!
We did the food tour in Ebisu, Tokyo with Shuhei. He was an excellent guide - took us to some great places and tried a variety of Japanese food. One of the places, Kakitsubata, was so good we went again when we came back to Tokyo.
Excellent guide (his name is Hiro), we enjoyed the experience very much. Very sympathetic. Really an excellent experience.
We had a fantastic experience with Ko from Oishii Tours, which we booked through Kensington Tours. Ko took us to three unique izakayas—each with its own theme (seafood, yakitori, and an eclectic food hall)—and ended with amazing Japanese ice cream. He was energetic, gracious, and incredibly knowledgeable, with excellent English skills he began honing during his undergraduate degree in the U.S. Ko gave us so much insight into Japanese food culture, table manners, and izakaya etiquette. He even helped us get the recipe for one of the dishes! Oishii Tours also provided a helpful pocket card with useful Japanese phrases. We came away feeling more connected to the culture and cuisine, and we’d absolutely tour with Ko again. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Japan!
Very grateful to have had a one-on-one experience for my husband and I’s first food tour. Seiyo was our guide for the evening and he is the best!!! He took us first to taste some sashimi, next stop was yakitori, last stop was Osaka inspired dishes. It was fun to try out different alcoholic beverages. We finished it off with ice cream. Seiyo was very knowledgeable on the food and culture and was able to inform us on many facts. Very fun experience and honestly felt like we made our first friend here in Japan. Thank you Seiyo and best wishes!
We enjoyed going to 3 different Izakayas and desert in Ebisu. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere was amazing. Our guide, Seiyo was the best! He was very personable and knowledgeable. He gave us the history of Ebisu and the Izakayas, as well as local traditions and formalities while keeping it fun and entertaining. It felt like we gain a good friend by the end of the tour. We highly recommend Oishii food tours and especially if you enjoy it with Seiyo. Gochisousama!
Had a great food tour with our guide Fuyu. She took us to three amazing little eateries that were all within a few mins walk to each other and finished the night at a little ice cream parlour. All of the restaurants were authentic, we had fish, yakatori skewers, fried food and some vegetables. All very tasty and washed down with our choice of drinks, we had beer and Saki.
We had a great evening sampling local food and drink in a variety of establishments around the Ebisu district. Our guide (Takumi) was both informative and entertaining. Taking place on our second day in Japan it was an excellent introduction to our holiday.
Excellent tour with guide who had great knowledge. Visited a variety of eating houses which were small and intimate and everyone was very friendly
Kazve was our guide she spoke fantastic English and guided us through three food experiences giving us a truly Japanese izakaya experience- all the food was fab, fish first, bbq meats cooked at the table, then a local dessert. At the end of the night she helped us navigate the local transport to get back to our hotel safely- 5 star!
Great evening. Ko was an engaging and informative guide. He took us to 3 Izakaya restaurants and introduced us to 3 different street foods. It felt like eating with a friend.
Great evening exploring some wonderful venues under the great guidance of Seiyo. It was just us and another lovely couple so meant for a fun night. Seiyo took us to a number of hidden gems including an izakaya, sushi restaurant, food hall and ice cream place - all fantastic food and drink and not places we would have found by ourselves. Excellent night and highly recommended. Thanks Seiyo!
An amazing experience with our wonderfully knowledgeable guide/host Kazumi. A perfect way to visit authentic street food establishments completely off the beaten track and sample some incredible traditional Japanese food & hospitality. Not another tourist in sight! Certainly well worth doing. Highly recommended.
We had a brilliant evening with Kazumi this evening. She is excellent company - very relaxed and charming - and she took us to four places we would never have found by ourselves. We couldn’t recommend an evening with Kazumi more highly. Bruce and Sian
Our first night in Tokyo reeling from jet-lag. What a wonderful introduction to Japan with our charming guides showing us the isakara joints in Ebisu and teaching us about culture, manners and of course food styles. Amazing sushi then skewers then noodles rounding off with ice cream. Highly recommended.
Tour with Hiro - took us to fish and Wagu beef restaurants in the basement of a shopping centre and under the railway arches.Great company and food!
This food tour was an absolute delight and one of the best I’ve ever been on! We visited hidden gem restaurants I would never have found on my own, each offering delicious, authentic local cuisine. Our guide, Ririka (Lily), was exceptional. She was not only knowledgeable about Japanese food and culture but also sweet, kind, and fun to learn from. Her insights made the experience both educational and enjoyable. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of this tour and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and memorable culinary adventure.
We were met by a smiling Kasumi and she instantly lifted our moods, despite jet lag. We visited two restaurants, one I would class as touristy. The second, feeling much more authentic as my husband and I were the only Westerners. Kasumi discussed our food likes/intolerances and ordered a wide variety of foods that we wouldn’t normally consider. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. We then moved onto Golden Gai and peered into tiny bars, crammed with people. We found space in one such bar, where for the first time I sampled plum wine. I’m a convert. We finished our evening with a stroll to Shinjuku where we were delighted to see the giant 3D billboard cat. He didn’t disappoint. Thank you Kasumi for being such a knowledgeable and friendly host. Paula and Mr G.
Fuyu is an excellent tour guide. She was so nice and warm with us. This is the perfect welcome for anyone visiting Tokyo. Her food recomendations were amazing and we enjoyed a wonderful evening in the best local Izakaya. Arigato gozaimasu!!!
Excellent food and a really helpful guide. We would thoroughly recommend this tour wanting to learn more about Japanese culture and cuisine
It was an excellent and fun tour with the guide and group member! We went to a couple of different places and had yummy dishes !! We really enjoyed the tour. thank you so much!
This tour is a great way to eat like a local in Tokyo. Ko is an awesome guide who made sure everyone had a great time, ate incredible food and left with a full stomach. Highly recommended!
A great night out. A good variety of food, drink and restaurants. Mariko was an excellent guide. Very knowledgable and great fun. Thoroughly recommend.
We enjoyed an excellent evening with Kazul. She was wonderful company with a great knowledge of Japanese food. We loved her food choices and would highly recommend the tour. Thank you!
We had the most excellent tour with Kimi. Not only did she take us to several different types of restaurant etc but she was great company too. She taught us some basic Japanese and made sure that we were happy about all our forthcoming outings etc. Our favourite stops were the skewers and the Macha icecream with which we finished our evening. All in all brilliant
Maho our guide made this tour for us. Incredibly friendly, engaging and knowledgable. Equally happy to teach us basic Japanese phrases as give us the detailed background about how different types of sake are made
Good fun, good food and well organised. Fuyu looked after us well and gave us a great intro to Tokyo. Recommend to anyone new to Tokyo
We had a great evening with our wonderful tour guide Kasumi. She was welcoming friendly and really knowledgeable. We visited some great local authentic restaurants and the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend
Fantastic tour with Kasumi. She was lovely, super informative, we learnt so much about japanese culture, customs and history as well as being introduced to a great range of delicious japanese food. We ate at restaurants we would never have found on our own or been brave enough to try on our own. I wish we could have taken Kazumi with us to Kyoto as our personal guide! Would highly recommend Kasumi and this tour. It was a highlight of our Tokyo stay. Thank you Kasumi.
What a fantastic food experience led by a wonderful person called Sakura. We had a detailed explanation of the type of restaurants we were visiting, the food we were eating and the etiquette involved with eating food in Japan using chop sticks. We visited 3 different places to eat and the food was wonderful. We would never have found these type of restaurants without doing this tour with Sakura. We also had an explanation of the history of beer from the area as well as finishing the evening with some wonderful Ice Cream. Sakura was the perfect host and teacher, it was the highlight of our trip so far.
After racing the Tokyo marathon I took my mom and brother on an Izakaya food tour around Tokyo and we had an amazing time. Our guide - Kazue - was so informative and friendly and we had so much fun with her. It was a small group but we got everything out of it that we wanted - and it was the perfect way to spend a night in Tokyo!
