Tokyo Sumo Experience: Wrestler Challenge Hotpot & Mochi-pounding

loved the whole experience and meal. staff and sumo wrestlers were accommodating to my parents. the sumo wrestlers all went outside to hail a cab for us on the street. very entertaining and very educational experience about the cultural of sumo wrestling. Thank you kindly!

Great experience! It’s was professional, entertaining, informative, interactive and just a GREAT time!! The only frustrating thing I could say was the wrong address was given so we went to the Sumoland office not the show site. I hope they fix that as it made us a little late😩 I would definitely recommend this, we had a fantastic time!!

We didn’t know what to expect. The show was very entertaining and informative. Good history of sumo wrestling culture behind it. I wasn’t expecting much of the food, but it was surprisingly very good.

This was entertaining and fun. Very amusing! We had front row seats and the participants were very engaging with the audience.

The actual experience was fantastic. They explained a lot of the history around sumo and gave demonstrations. The wrestlers were fantastic and our son loved getting to wrestle as well. The food was rather bland, but we had a great time.

Firstly let me say the sumo part of this show is excellent they are really great at getting the audience to join in our kids aged 11 & 15 loved it However be very careful when booking and this is what let this down it was advertised as sumo hot pot and mochi pounding we only got the sumo. There are two sumo points round the corner from each other they told me i got the wrong place but considering our names were on the list at the right time this wasnt the case neither viator or sumo would listen Would i do it again ? Yes because despite this it was a experience the kids will never forget and the sumo team on the day were brilliant cant fault that at all i think the vault lies with viators booking system

This is great fun for the entire family. From the minute we walked in, the people couldn’t have been any nicer. I enjoyed cooking the food, learning about machi pounding and learning the basics of Sumo wrestling. This was money well spent.

This was informative and fun. The sumo wrestlers have a delightful sense of humor and there was a lot of interaction with the guests. The meal was also good and fun that it was cooked individually in front of us with our own little burner.

We learned about sumo, had a good meal and each of my kids had a blast participating in the mochi pounding and wrestling!

Our guide was great. She explained so much. Watching a real unscripted practice was a great experience.

The sumo restaurant experience was really funny, interactive and unique. The kids had an amazing time with mochi pounding and interacting with the sumo's. It was a great way to experience Japanese culture, and we really enjoyed getting involved in the different activities.

Step into the ring, Warm up and then challenge the sumo wrestlers themselves ! After a brief introduction to the rules of sumo you’ll actually get to feel the strength of the wrestlers! Gambare !

This was such a fun experience for the family! The kids especially! They have an amazing show teaching us about the history of Sumo and then let the kids get involved and try it themselves. Lots of fun and lots of laughs. Will recommend to anyone coming to Japan.

A great experience all round. The show was informative teaching us about the history, culture and rituals of sumo while also being highly entertaining and fun! Everything about the experience from the booking, to our arrival in the rain, the wrestlers themselves and the staff that ran Sumoland was absolutely top draw. Very generous and authentic hosts. Highly recommend!

Very easy, straightforward experience. Sumoland is easy to find, the staff are very welcoming. Food was ok, and the Sumo activities were informative and good fun to watch. You can also take part in the mochi pounding, Sumo training and Sumo wrestling. Quick photo opportunity with the wrestlers at the end. The only issue we had was with the MC, who hosted the event, as his accent and use of the microphone (waggling it up and down) meant that we couldn't understand what he was saying about half the time. Would have been excellent with a different MC or if he could have spoken more clearly (sorry).

What a great show we saw. We laughed so much and it was great to see the children enjoying themselves. I am 71 and fought one of the sumo’s. Glad we did the show. It was interesting cooking your own food at your table.

Great experience, exceeded expectations, the hosts were very friendly and did everything they could to help us enjoy the experience. It was all organised perfectly with food ready to go. The atmosphere was relaxed and the other people at the event helped make it fun. The activities were spaced out well. Felt I learnt a lot but in an enjoyable way. Would definately recommend this activity and feel it was good value for money.

I thought it may have too pricey given how far the US dollar goes in Japan right now but I had so much fun that I think it was well worth the price. It was fun from start to finish. The wrestlers really seemed to enjoy interacting with us and they made the show great

We went to Sumoland with our group of 22 and had a fabulous time. From the start the staff were very helpful making sure that the dietary needs of a few of our group were met. The hot pot dinner was excellent. The staff and wrestlers were brilliant. They had such a friendly, positive attitude and were very happy to educate us on all things sumo. All of our group were very happy with the experience. It was mentioned several times that this such a valuable learning experience because if we had simply gone to a sumo match we wouldn't have learned anything and wouldn't have understood what was going on. Thanks to all for a fun night out!

Great experience end-to-end! We added this last minute to our itinerary and it was a treat. We loved the crowd interaction and learning more about the sumo. The warm meal was just enough. The staff were all welcoming and helped us with small accommodations for our 1 year old! By the end of the night we were so glad we booked!

This experience was a great intro into Sumo. The show touches on the history, the spiritual meaning and training of the athletes. It was very entertaining, fun and educational all at the same time. Definitely exceeded my expectations and was a worthwhile booking. If you are a big and tall person, the area surrounding Sumoland has local, walkable shops with button up shirts and other unique big and tall items worthy of bringing home for regular wear.

Super interactive and fun! You can get your feet sandy and try your own against the sumo wrestlers. Everyone was very nice and instructive and the dinner was really good too.

This tour was very Knowledgeable but also lots of humor! The food was delicious and they also cater to vegetarian customers. When we left they handed out gifts which we did not expect . Please select this tour, you will enjoy every minute !

A knowledgeable and welcoming event. I learned what is and isn't legal with sumo and how it all started. Food was great and the sumo wrestlers were very friendly. A great time!

This was a fun, interactive, educational experience for both adults and kids in the family. My only criticism is that the MC's English was really difficult to understand, so we all had a hard time understanding most of it. The English in the video show was perfect. The venue is very close to Ryogoku Edo Noren, Sumo Museum, and Ryogoku Sumo Arena. If you have time, I highly recommend you budget some time to check those places out too.

If you're looking for something that's different from the usual sightseeing in Tokyo, put SumoLand on your list! We had such a great time from start to finish. It was the perfect mix of history, culture, and comedy. The hosts did an excellent job explaining the traditions of sumo while keeping everyone laughing with their fun commentary. One of the highlights was watching audience members get invited into the ring to participate. It was hilarious watching people try their hand at sumo, and it made the whole experience feel much more interactive than just sitting and watching a show. We also loved mochi pounding. It was a fun, and a great way to experience another piece of Japanese culture. The meal was delicious, and I really appreciated that they had a vegetarian option for me. It's always nice when everyone in the group can enjoy the same experience without feeling like an afterthought. This ended up being one of those experiences we weren't quite sure what to expect, and it completely exceeded our expectations. If you want an evening full of laughs, great food, fascinating history, and a chance to experience a side of Japan you won't soon forget, don't miss Sumo Land!

So much fun! If there isn’t a sumo competition in town when you’re visiting, this is a great option. It was funny but we also learned about the history of sumo. My son loved getting to try to wrestle a sumo wrestler!
