Asakusa is one of Tokyo’s most historic districts, home to the famous Sensō-ji Temple. With its giant red lantern, the lively Nakamise shopping street, and traditional atmosphere, Asakusa offers a timeless glimpse into old Tokyo. It’s the perfect place to enjoy culture, street food, and iconic photo spots.
The Sumida River offers a peaceful break from Tokyo’s busy streets, with wide riverside paths, scenic bridges, and views of the Tokyo Skytree. It’s a beautiful area for a relaxing walk, quiet photos, and watching boats glide along the water. The contrast between the calm river and the surrounding city makes it a refreshing stop during your Tokyo exploration.
Ameyoko is a lively open-air market stretching along the railway tracks between Ueno and Okachimachi. Packed with street food, local shops, spices, seafood, snacks, and bargain clothing, it captures the energetic “local Tokyo” vibe. A perfect place to explore daily life and try new flavors.
Ueno Park is one of Tokyo’s most historic and atmospheric public parks, offering a quieter side of the city with hidden temples, traditional pathways, and a local atmosphere away from the modern districts. Along the walk, we may visit Kiyomizu Kannon-do, Gojo Tenjin Shrine, and Hanazono Inari Shrine — small historic sites tucked inside the park that many visitors completely miss.
A short walk at the Shinobazu Pond — once a favorite spot for couples in the Edo period, today still peaceful, home to lotus, koi fish, turtles, and migratory birds throughout the year.
Meiji Jingu is one of Tokyo’s most important and peaceful Shinto shrines, surrounded by a large forest that creates a quiet escape from the city. Visitors walk through towering wooden torii gates and shaded paths before reaching the main shrine, where traditional rituals and serene architecture offer a timeless look into Japanese spirituality. It’s a calming, beautiful stop for culture and nature lovers alike.
Takeshita Street is the heart of Harajuku’s youth culture, famous for its colorful fashion boutiques, kawaii shops, creative snacks, and unique pop culture energy. The narrow street is always lively, packed with trendy clothing stores, crepe stands, and fun photo spots. It’s a must-visit area for anyone wanting to experience Harajuku’s playful and iconic style.
Shibuya is one of Tokyo’s most iconic districts, famous for Shibuya Scramble Crossing the busiest crossing in the world, neon lights, modern shopping malls, and a vibrant nightlife scene. It blends youthful energy with stylish urban culture, featuring landmarks like the Hachikō Statue — a beloved meeting point — and Miyashita Park, a trendy complex with rooftop greenery, cafés, boutiques, and great photo spots. Shibuya is the perfect destination for shopping, nightlife, and modern city exploration.
Stop at the iconic Godzilla Head, right in the heart of Tokyo’s nightlife district. Don’t miss the giant 3D cat billboard, a modern symbol of Shinjuku’s playful spirit, and explore Golden Gai — a maze of tiny bars each with its own unique charm. Then Up to the 45th-floor observatory for stunning city views — and Mt. Fuji on clear days. Optional: the Ninja Kabuki Tokyo show on demand.
(Optional stop — tailored to your interests) One of Tokyo’s most famous food districts, known for its vibrant atmosphere and incredible variety of fresh seafood and street food. From sushi and grilled skewers to local specialties, it offers a true taste of Tokyo’s culinary culture. A perfect stop to explore, taste, and experience the city through its flavors.
(Optional stop — tailored to your interests) Visit to Akihabara — also known as “Electric Town,” is the heart of Tokyo’s otaku culture. The area is filled with anime shops, retro game stores, multi-level arcades, and major electronics retailers. With its bright neon signs, cosplay energy, and themed cafés, Akihabara offers a fun and immersive dive into modern Japanese pop culture.
(Optional stop — tailored to your interests) Visit Kappabashi, Tokyo’s famous kitchenware district, located between Asakusa and Ueno. This area is known for its wide selection of Japanese knives, tableware, chopsticks, cookware, and the iconic plastic food displays seen in restaurant windows. A unique stop that offers insight into Japanese food culture and everyday craftsmanship, perfect for those interested in cooking, design, or local shopping.

A perfect place to experience a more refined and authentic side of Tokyo.

We only had one full day in Tokyo and this was a fantastic way to see the highlights. Our guide Seb was wonderful, very engaging and a delight to spend the day with.
Had an amazing time with my wife on our anniversary trip experiencing the sites with our tour guide Renaud in Tokyo. He had a great understanding of history, culture, and unique gems in the city. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to see the sites in Tokyo!
Zack was such a great guide. Truly customized the tour to our specific interests and made sure we experienced everything. Patient and flexible, guided us to see the things that we would love. Also made great recommendations for lunch and other activities, pointed out things of note, knew all the back stories, and was genuinely the nicest guy. Also took million great pictures of us. Absolutely recommend doing this tour, so fun and informative.
Renaud was an excellent guide who went out of his way to accommodate us. He communicated with us before to customize our tour and guided us through Tokyo with lots of information and history. Would definitely recommend Renaud as a guide.
Renaud is amazing. Incredibly knowledgeable and extremely attentive to our needs. We couldn’t have picked a better private tour guide to show us the beautiful city of Tokyo. He was able to immerse us in the experience from temples to modern day hustle. Strongly recommend his tour to anyone considering a private tour.
Ami did an excellent job catering our experience to our interests. He was so pleasant and accommodating. Highly recommend him as a tour guide!
I was not very happy with the trip. The guide just escorted us but did not make the trip interesting.
I had a wonderful private walking tour with Zack! He tailored the experience to my interests in shrines, temples, and Japanese history, and managed to pack an incredible amount into just four hours. I especially enjoyed exploring the street markets and learning about the history and culture along the way. Zack made the experience engaging, informative, and fun. I would absolutely book with him again and highly recommend this tour!
Zack (and Renaud) were so helpful and flexible right from when we booked. Helpful reminders were sent which left us feeling very secure with the booking. On the day Zack was so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. He adapted the itinerary to suit us and was a pleasure to spend the day with. The tour took in the old and the new and was very informative and interesting. At the end he made sure we were comfortable with everything and that we got back safely. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and would definitely book with him again if we come back.
Our tour of Tokyo was amazing thanks to Sébastien’s knowledge and experience. Before our tour began he asked us what we specifically wanted to go see, but my sister and I were happy to go with his suggestions, and they were brilliant. Throughout the tour we were shown many beautiful temples and had many laughs with him along the way. He helped show us how the metro system works along with helping us book our up coming trains to different cities. We really appreciate all the help and advice he gave us. He then ended the tour with us in Shibuya, he showed us great areas for photos, and then left us at a delicious restaurant he recommended for us. We had an amazing day with him and I would highly recommend him!
This was a perfect way to experience some of the highlights of Tokyo. The tour was well paced and our guide Sebastien was friendly, knowledgeable and patient. He even put together a list of things for us to do once the tour ended!
Dan is the perfect guide. His English is excellent as well as his knowledge about Tokyo. He took very good care of us and made us feel at home in a foreign country. We had him give us three tours.
My guide -- Sebastien -- was remarkable in every conceivable way. He provided me with the unique opportunity to experience Tokyo that included sights, sounds, spirituality, and all with a very much appreciated sense of humor. I cannot recommend more highly Sebastien and this opportunity to transcend being a tourist, and appreciating this remarkable city more as a local. A five star experience from every perspective!
Sebastian was a great guide for Tokyo. He was knowledgeable, easygoing, and kept the day moving without making it feel rushed. He gave clear context on neighborhoods and sights, answered questions well, and helped us get a real sense of the city. Highly recommended if you want a smooth, well-paced introduction to Tokyo.
All walking, we walked 10 miles, so informative, super fun, Julien was GREAT!! We saw spooky much and variety of history and pop culture excellent!!!
Jonathan was a great tour guide was very knowledgeable about all Tokyo. I would get him again. The walking tour was fantastic which takes you to the new and old Tokyo.
This is a fun way to see the highlights of Tokyo. It gives you an idea of where to go on your own. Wear comfortable shoes. Do the lunch. Be sure to download Google map or something similar to help you get around on your free time.
This was an outstanding walking tour of Tokyo. Renaud our tour guide, was incredibly helpful in navigating us for seven wonderful hours in gorgeous weather around this beautiful city. Renaud is a very talented tour guide, his language skills in English are exceptional and his ability to share highlights of Tokyo city’s history made it even more special. We especially enjoyed visiting all the Buddhist Temples and learning the proper way to pray. Grateful he helped us with using our I phones to pay and ride the trains. The best part was as soon as we met him, we instantly felt confident that we were in good hands to explore all the magic this city offers to first time visitors. Thank you again Renauld,
Zack was great…..this walking tour took us to many parts of Tokyo and Zack guided us thru the experience of the subway system and many unique cultures of Tokyo. Zack went out of his way to make sure we only had to worry about enjoying this beautiful city. Thank you Zack.
Great way to get to start understanding how Tokyo works and a great insight into the history and culture. Renault our guide went above and beyond with tips and recommendation's for food and was first class - great training on the tube !
A fantastic morning with Sebastian- taking us on an exploration of sights selected by us. He helped to navigate the train system, and was a wealth of information. Sebastian was kind, friendly and took lots of photos. High recommendation from us.
This was the perfect introduction to Tokyo. We saw so many neighborhoods and temples. Our guide also introduced us to hidden gems and provided excellent context to all of our stopping points.
We had a wonderful tour with Renauld. He helped to educate us on the history and customs in this area. It was a rainy day and we could have been miserable but we weren’t at all. Renauld took care to walk at a pace we were comfortable with. Even though there was a lot of walking it was totally doable for any age. Renauld took us to a great restaurant for Sushi which we enjoyed. Please don’t hesitate to take this tour it’s a must for an introduction to Tokyo
Sam was an amazing guide!! He was really insightful and very efficient when it came to jumping around different areas. He was super knowledgeable and helped us get an idea of how to use the public transport. Was a great day!!
Julien was great. He picked us up from our hotel and took us around the city. We actually learn how to use the IC card traveling by train and metro. It was very easy and the public transportation is not so scary. All the temples and shrines we visited were impressive. Tokyo is a beautiful city.
Amisan was friendly and knowledgeable about each area. He tailored our tour to make sure we hit our wish list. It was a wonderful experience.
Yoshi was absolutely beyond our expectations: knowledgeable, affable, very courteous and accommodating to our needs; we fully recommend his services and very grateful with his service and efforts and of course: his knowledge about history was outstanding. Thank you very much Yoshi: you made our Tokyo experience absolutely unforgettable and adorable! Kudos and blessings from all of us
A five star tour! We had a great 6 hour tour. Our guide Zack was excellent ; his enthusiasm, knowledge of Japanese history and his passion for Japanese traditions and culture was both informative, interesting and truly delightful. The restaurant he recommended served the best food we’ve eaten in Tokyo it was traditional, delicious and incredibly good value. We recommend Zack and this tour 100%
Had the most amazing day with Sebastian, he collected us from our hotel and we saw temples and shops and markets, we caught the train with him to the northern old part of toyko too which was so interesting, he is extremely knowledgeable and speaks at least 3 languages we know of, French, English and Japanese so super smart, although our day also involved a typhoon it did not dampen our tour experience!
What a wonderful experience we had on our guided tour of Tokyo with Seb our tour guide. He made the day really special as it was our wedding anniversary, he showed us around the different areas, visited temples, shrines and markets/shopping areas and to finish off showed us a great restaurant for us to have a meal, Thanks So Much Seb it was a great day.
Renaud is very knowledgeable about all things Japanese and took us to temples, shrines, eating places, river walkway, old Tokyo. We packed lots into the 4 hours and had the best time.
Renaud was an excellent and honest guide who understands and respects the culture. I had a knowledgable tour even though it was raining. I also felt comfortable and safe as a solo female traveler. Highly recommend.
See all of Tokyo in a day!? Not realistic. But our guide Sebastian managed to show us so many sights in Tokyo. He was very knowledgeable and accommodating. We will never forget the unbelievable shrines and temples, and the hustle and bustle of downtown Tokyo. Take this tour and let the experts navigate the public transportation. Thanks Sebastian for an incredible day!!
We arrived in Tokyo as first-timers and were out with Mao hours later. We gave her only general guidance — history and culture — and she built the whole day on the fly. At Sensō-ji she explained the Kaminarimon gate and the Kinryū-zan name on the back of the great lantern, so a famous photo stop became something we understood. She never rushed us through the Nakamise-dōri stalls. Lunch was at a good restaurant far from the tourist haunts, and her help with the menu made ordering part of the fun. Meiji Jingū was the highlight — after the crowds, the forest walk was serene and beautiful. Warm, personable, never reciting facts. Book Mao.
Renaud was excellent at guiding us thru Tokyo. We saw some incredible temples that we would have had no idea about all the traditions if it wasn't for his help. He spoke perfect English even though his native language is French. We got to Segway to a spot we saw in the distance and enjoyed a quick bite before continuing to other spots. We asked to be left at another location so we could continue our day and he accommodated so we could return to our hotel later in the day. Very flexible and laid back tour. I would recommend his tour to anyone.
Great to be on a tour with someone is knowledgeable about the places your going but also on how to get there, today 1 of the trains we were going to take was exceptionally busy so Zack moved things around so we could keep moving and made sure we covered everything. Tour was a great pace which is important when you’re on foot and it’s humid. Thanks Zack we really enjoy our time with you.
Rain or Shine, get ready to have a great experience with this tour! Seriously, if you’re ’new in town’, this is the way to go! You’ll hit up all the spots and get some inside knowledge on shopping/food/sight seeing based on your preferences. Our tour guide, Sebastien, made sure we had an amazing experience even with nonstop rain! They’ll make sure you’re ready to take on Tokyo with tips and tricks for transportation and visiting key areas. You’ll be a local by the time the tour is over. 10/10 - you’ll be glad you took this tour.
What an amazing day! Sho was our guide. His knowledge of the history was fantastic. We had a wonderful day. Just be ready - we walked over 20,000 steps!!
This experience was lackluster. The tour guide provided no new information regarding Tokyo as a whole. I spent most of my time in subway stations getting to the next destination. I rode one train for 19 stops. He seemed like he was in a rush and walked very fast as if he had somewhere else he would rather be. It states in the advertisement that he does a hotel pick up but he has no car to pick you up in. He kept mentioning how long he has been in Tokyo but that's not what I signed up for. He took me to several shrines but that's not all Tokyo is about. It had potential but that went away rather quickly.
Excellent and personalized experience! Sebastian asked what we were interested in when we met and then guided us to see temples, shrines, Shibuya and so many other things in between. He is extremely knowledgeable about Japan, the area and history. Seba was also so much fun. The day was very hot so he went at our pace, and took us to a wonderful lunch spot. Highly recommend!
Our guide was fantastic! We really enjoyed our time! Fair warning there is a lot of walking, but you learn how to operate the train system!
We had an incredible day exploring Tokyo with our private guide. Since we are big anime fans, he customized the itinerary to include Akihabara and showed us the best areas for anime, manga, collectibles, arcades, and Japanese pop culture. Having a local guide made the experience much easier and more interesting than visiting on our own. We also discovered other sides of Tokyo and learned a lot about Japanese culture and everyday life along the way. The tour was well organized, flexible, and never felt rushed. A fantastic private walking tour for anyone who wants a personalized Tokyo experience, especially anime and manga lovers!
Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and adapted the itinerary perfectly to our interests. One of the highlights was experiencing a local summer festival, where we could enjoy delicious Japanese street food from the festival stalls. We also visited Shinobazu Pond in Ueno and saw the beautiful lotus flowers in full bloom—a peaceful and unforgettable sight. This tour was the perfect mix of Tokyo’s culture, history, local traditions, and hidden gems. It felt much more personal and authentic than a standard sightseeing tour. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a private Tokyo tour with a knowledgeable local guide!
An excellent day seeing some great hidden gems along with renowned historical sites. Our guide zac was excellent, friendly, knowledgeable & happy to accommodate every request. He made the trip enlightening & fun
Excellent experience with a very knowledgable friendly guide Zach. One day visit to Tokyo and managed to see all the sights. Experienced the transport system and no fears of getting lost with a personal guide.
Sam was incredibly helpful considerate and full of Tokyo knowledge. He made every effort to make a tour of some of Tokyo’s sights as amazing as possible. Would recommend to anybody.
The tour was absolutely amazing!! Definitely worth the money. It was so good in fact that I booked another day. Our guide met us at our hotel, taught us how to navigate the subway system. It is relatively easy once you get the hang of it, but as a newb in Tokyo it was intimidating. Because it was a private tour, we got to see everything we wanted to. We learned of the history and partook in some of the rituals. Our guide took us to the shopping district in Shinjuku where we bought kimonos and even the department stores to buy clothes. We are huge anime fans and he took us to a 7 floor anime store. Where you can buy anything you can imagine. Our poor guide was kind enough to carry our bags. Seba, our guide, was absolutely amazing!! He has make our trip incredible and we have been able to see everything we wanted to more efficiently as well as getting to take part in things we would have no idea, how to get a fortune of luck, talisman, and making a wish and the ritual of washing before entering the temple. He was so good I booked another day!!
Amazing private tour of Tokyo! We visited a great mix of famous sights and more local areas, with lots of interesting stories about Japanese culture and everyday life. Everything felt relaxed, personal, and never rushed. A perfect way to discover the real Tokyo with a knowledgeable local guide. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a private walking tour in Tokyo!
This was a wonderful way to see several noteworthy sites in Tokyo. Renaud really knew his way around the city and the sites. He was also terrific at taking photos. We ate at a wonderful market that Renaud led us to and again at a very nice cafe. We recommend this tour and Renaud as a guide.
