Really fun opportunity to work with a professional manga artist. He helps you create a piece to bring home and learn the way manga are drawn and inked. Arrive with an idea of what you want to draw or a reference photo if you have a specific manga in mind.

Very well planned lesson. The artist was professional and helped us create beautiful manga drawings using our own photos. Wish we could’ve spent more time and learn more skills.

My family and I had a great time learning how to draw in manga style. The teachers where very competent and helped us all on our own level. My family is now hooked on drawing manga, and we will go home and practice. I can recomend this course to everybody.

The pace was perfect for me, who has never drawn manga, and I turned out a pretty decent frame. Katsuki and Machi were a super team who patiently showed us the different processes and fixed up stray lines when I stuffed up. Would highly recommend this experience for anyone visiting Tokyo.

I did this workshop with my 12 yo daughter who enjoys drawing comics. It was a lovely introduction to manga techniques and our instructor was experienced, fun and very sweet. I really enjoyed it. And the results were excellent too!

I attended the drawing class/workshop with my 12-year-old daughter, who is a huge manga fan. Art and drawing are among her favorite pastimes, and I also really enjoy drawing. That’s why I thought this activity would surely be a lot of fun for both of us when we travel to Japan as a family (Easter break 2026), and we truly got our money’s worth—even more than that—I was overwhelmed by the course instructors’ warm and welcoming manner. They explained the drawing techniques to us in detail, provided constructive guidance on our drawing style, and consistently offered supportive and helpful guidance whenever we encountered hurdles or challenges. In short, I can only recommend this opportunity to anyone who wants to experience the insights, skills, and expertise of a real mangaka. The patience and empathy shown to you there are truly extraordinary and genuinely delightful! We felt incredibly comfortable there and still rave about the drawing lesson today whenever we talk about our trip to Japan. Because this was definitely one of the absolute highlights of our trip! Incredible experience. My kids love art and one loves manga. We all got to draw a character of our choice and went through sketching, outlining, shading, adding tone/accents, etc. I’m terrible at art and the sensei helped me through it. There were two manga artists and one woman who helped with translation and with our art. Very well done. Highly recommend.

I absolutely loved it , it was a great experience perfect for young artists like me. The 2 young ladies were very sweet, helpful and informative. My mother is not artistic and she enjoyed it too

I took this class on March 6, having just arrived in Tokyo and still quite jet lagged, but I had a wonderful time nonetheless! Rokkaku (manga sensei) and Ai (interpreter) were an absolute delight. Rokkaku did the initial draft of the character and pose I wanted and then helped me outline, add detail, ink, and use screen tone. Ai was lovely and kept the conversation flowing between the three of us, made sure we were on schedule, and helped communicate any questions I had or if I needed help from Rokkaku. I have a bit of art experience so it really felt like a collaborative workshop where I got to learn the tools and style of manga. I would recommend this activity whether or not you have drawing experience, Rokkaku was always there to help me sketch out an idea or make suggestions when I got stuck. All in all it was a really fun way to spend the first day of a trip to Tokyo!

Such a nice change from the usual Tokyo experience - bring a photo and you’ll get a very cool memento of your visit. Highly recommend - good for families with older children.

I had a great experience with Machi and Sensei. Everything was easy to follow and understand which made the experience fun and relaxing. Would highly recommend it's good to see how the pros draw and make manga, Sensei looks over your work and gives feedback so you can walk away with something you are happy with. Overall a very unique Japanese experience!

The instructor was very helpful, I have previous drawing experience and my mom had none. He did a brief sketch and I updated mine to my tastes and my mom just traced hers. Then when we put the sticker background (forgot the name) he helped us finish it.

Overall, a great experience! It was absolute joy to get to know the manga artist, draw, and learn industry techniques. Just double-check the address before you go since it can be a bit tricky.

It was incredible. Kousei-sensei was very patient and a great pedagogue with us! No matter your level of drawing, he helps you with whatever you need help with, so you'll leave with something you like. It was amazing learning how traditional manga pages are done. Would recommend as it will probably be one of our best memories from Japan!

I am so glad we did this! Thank you to our professional manga artist and our excellent translator. Our class took place in a tall, skinny office building in the Shibuya area of Tokyo. That, by itself, was cool, as we sat in a conference room overlooking a busy street - a new way to experience Tokyo. Our artist was clearly a talented professional. He did an initial sketch for us of an image of our choosing. Our kids chose a frame of their favorite anime characters. My husband and I each chose a photo from our travels. Then, once we had the initial sketch, we added the details, did the inking, and coloring of the image with our teachers guidance. He made sure we didn’t mess up too badly. We all left with our own manga drawing of something important to us. So cool and personal! Also, I see the effort and care that goes into this art. Thank you for sharing your craft with us!

It was a really fun class and we got taught how to draw manga. All of my family enjoyed it a lot we were really intrigued and interested

I was a little hesitant to book. When we arrived we were greeted very kindly and both the interpreter and the Manga Sensei were so nice and very personable. My 12 year old son learned some new techniques and loved the whole experience. I thought it was well worth the money. I’m not a great artist but the outcome was amazing. We are framing both our drawings and hanging them together in my son’s room to remember our trip.

Stumbled upon this manga workshop in Shibuya and what an incredible find! My son walked in as a curious kid and left as a budding manga artist. The teacher was patient, encouraging, and truly passionate about the craft. Watching him learn authentic Japanese drawing techniques was pure magic. The skills and confidence he gained are priceless souvenirs that no tourist shop could sell. This wasn’t just an activity, it was a doorway into Japanese culture and artistic expression. this was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!!! absolutely blew away my expectations. you could do this with maximum or minimal art experience and still have an amazing time, leave with an incredible souvenir and have learned awesome skills. I cannot say enough about how incredible this was. It was the highlight of our Japan trip!!

Both the instructor and translator were very engaging and helpful. The drawings provided were all cool to look at and refer to. They even let you choose your own reference image. I had an incredible time and would recommend it to anyone who likes anime and manga.

This tour wasn't just about drawing manga; it also provided explanations about the history of Japanese manga, included fun quizzes related to manga, and offered various other experiences. My friend, who loves manga, and I are both very satisfied.

This experience was everything that we hoped for had a great time. Would definitely do it again. Made me who can't even draw a stick figure feel like a real artist and my son who actually has artistic ability had a great time and learned so much.

You can be a complete beginner or have experience drawing manga to enjoy this. They give you ideas but it would be best to think about what you want to draw beforehand. The manga artist then takes you through all the steps, helping out when needed. My kids (aged 12) and I all came out with an appreciation of the work that goes into manga and an artwork we are proud of. This experience was a highlight of our trip.

Very enjoyable experience. Learned a lot about the type of drawing. Instructor engaging and fun. We were able to successfully draw what we wanted to. Come with an idea what you want to draw. Very interesting learning about the tools used. However, our tickets had directions to an office in Ebisu, we arrived early but it was not the place. I contacted by email the instructor and was directed to another office in Shibuya. This required going back to the train station and heading to Shibuya Station and then finding our way to the new office resulting in being a half hour late to class. Fortunately we helped two others find their way too. Disappointing and frustrating. We should have been sent an update email with instructions to where the class was changed to.

It was a wonderful experience! We had a blast and even though we had very little experience, our results were amazing, because we were supported and guided by an experienced team (artist and translator). Definitely one of our highlights on this trip! ありがとうございました！

Brought my son to try this experience since he loves drawing and is a big manga fan. We picked this particular class since the created works posted look professionally done and not those “kawaii” cute style. We had a great time and learned a lot from Shingo sensei. He really helped with guiding us through the process and creating a half decent drawing for someone that has no artistic skill like me. A must try for manga fans!

This class is for people who enjoy manga, art, and being creative. The instructors are well knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. I took the class with my daughter, and despite our different skill levels we both learned something new and enjoyed the experience. They were able to assess my skill level and made really good suggestions to improve my original sketch and expand on the storytelling aspect of manga. Working with professional Mangaka made the atmosphere in the room motivating, engaging, and exciting. If I make it back to Tokyo again, I would take the class again.

The Manga Drawing experience has been the most engaging actiivity we have done in Japan as a family. You absolutely do not need to be an artist to leave with your own amazing finished product thank to the help of Masa and his artists. The process of creating manga is extremely interesting and it was enjoyable to engage with true manga artists. You get to pick what you want to draw. My son, who is 10 y.o., drew a character from My Hero Academia while my wife used turned a family picture into mange style art. We left with our drawings and we were so inspired by our wonderful experience that we purchased a drawing set and a drawing of one of the artists. Masa and his team are very friendly, nice and passionate about sharing the manga culture. Go for it and you will have a lot of fun!

Absolutely a fantastic experience learning how to draw Manga characters with Master Shinjo. The team was extremely professional, patient and helpful. This is a truly memorable experience whether you are a Manga/Anime fan or not. Communication with the coordinator, Masa, was clear and consistent. I highly suggest this unforgettable experience! Get their early and check out the neighborhood as well!

Such a fun experience! Chie Sensei and Masa were great. We had a small scheduling snafu with them but Masa arranged a different time that fit our schedule. It was the highlight of the trip for our 9 year old daughter. Though, 9 is about as young as you’d go for this class. The techniques require some care and patience, but thankfully the teachers helped out.

Unique and wonderful experience. Got step by step instructions to make our own personalized masks. All were different and all were master pieces. So fun. Can’t wait for our fired masks to arrive home!!

Didn’t know what to expect and had so much fun. Just enough support to be successful but not so much that we didn’t feel it was our creation. All ended up super happy with our unique manga drawing. Thank you!! Highly recommend it for the whole family!!

Instructors were friendly and encouraging. We were able to learn about the illustration process and tools without needing to do the initial sketches or composition layouts. Instructors also had good suggestions for places to buy more tools after class as well as where else to visit in the city.

Fantastic experience! As manga fans this was an amazing opportunity to not only see an artist in person but to also get to know the process of the drawing. Everyone was really nice we talked about anime and exchanged some opinions. Great time!
