Itinerary
Explore Tsukiji Fish Market on a small-group walking tour with a local host. Visit specialty shops, see ingredients and foods that may be unfamiliar to first-time visitors, and learn how they are used in Japanese cooking. Your host will share local context, market stories, and practical tips while introducing the people and businesses that keep Tsukiji’s food culture alive. With a maximum of 8 guests, there is plenty of time to ask questions and explore at a comfortable pace. After about one hour, walk to our nearby classroom in Tsukiji for the sushi making class. Both parts of the experience take place in Tsukiji, so there is no cross-town transfer between the market tour and sushi class. This compact format makes it easy to experience both Tsukiji Fish Market and sushi making in one morning.
Continue directly to a hands-on sushi making class in Tsukiji. Follow clear English guidance as you make 10 pieces of sushi, including tuna and salmon nigiri, vegetable sushi, traditional inari sushi, and a tuna roll. Arrange your sushi in a handcrafted wooden bento box and create your own beautiful Japanese sushi bento. Experience fresh wasabi and learn simple elements of Japanese food culture as you work. Once your bento is complete, take photos and enjoy the sushi you made yourself for lunch. No previous cooking experience is needed. Because the class also takes place in Tsukiji, there is no transfer to another neighborhood—you can finish the experience and continue exploring the market or central Tokyo right away. Quality ingredients sourced through trusted Tsukiji connections bring the flavors of the market into the class. You’ll turn them into a sushi bento designed to look as beautiful as it tastes.

Started off with a tour of the fish market. Took us into all these back alleys and areas we would never find. Then headed to the pop-up kitchen to make sushi. Great experience.
AJ was awesome. Walked us through the entire market and then the sushi making class was a ton of fun. She was very patient with our kids. They had as much fun as we did.
We had a great time with a tour through the market then back to the classroom for the sushi bento box making lesson. Our guide, AJ, made the experience fun and informative. The sushi was delicious!
Amazing experience! Great local perspective and learned a lot and saw many parts of the market we would not normally see!
We enjoyed our insider tour of Tsukiji and sushi making with Mia, very friendly and fun, and loved that she had years of experience in the market. We feel honored to meet Masa, and hear his story. We later looked up more about Sushizanmai and the Tuna King and dined in one of their restaurants in Sky Tree Tokyo.
Excellent tour of the market and sushi class assembling a bento box. Top quality ingredients and a very knowledgeable guide. Would thoroughly recommend
Very familiar atmosphere. Adopted to our needs as a family with two little kids. High quality products. Overall very enjoyable and highly recommended
We have done a lot of tours around the world and this really was one of the best. Our guide Mia was an outstanding host. We toured the market stalls where she explained about some of the products for purchase and helped us get samples (which we wouldn't have known to think about or try). We bought plenty because it was so good. We then went through the two commercial fish markets which were interesting, and also went inside an old shop which makes supplies to restaurants in tokyo. Then we went back to the excellent air conditioned classroom for the sushi making class, which was really fun and done in great spirits. The ingredients and finished product were fantastic. Highly recommend. One the best things we did in tokyo.
I came back again to Japan and yes, Tsukiji! I joined this beautiful bento sushi making class with my friend this time! They created a new combination of Tsukiji short tour and the sushi making! It was so priceless to see around the market with a sweet guide and some hidden gems. Was worth coming! All of the staff were so nice as well!
I highly recommend this place! It was such an amazing and memorable experience. I especially loved being able to make sushi by myself—it made the experience even more special and enjoyable. The explanation was very clear and easy to understand, and he was incredibly friendly and welcoming throughout the experience. I had such a great time and learned a lot about sushi as well. If you’re looking for a fun and unique experience, I definitely recommend visiting this place! 🍣✨
The quality of the sushi ingredients was excellent, and the sushi itself was absolutely delicious. It was not only a great experience to make sushi ourselves, but also very interesting and informative to learn about Tsukiji’s culture, its current situation, and the guide’s passion for the area. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for a great Tsukiji tour guide.
That was an absolutely amazing experience! You will know the real “Sushi” world if you join this activity.
Amazing experience, the tour guide is needed in order to really appreciate and understand the history and culture behind the famous market. The sushi class was also very helpful and fun to do and I would definitely recommend.
This was a great way to see the market. Kenji was great! Very friendly and knowledgeable. The sushi making was fun and soooo delicious! Highly recommend!
It was a really nice tour/cooking class. The perfect combination of a guided tour of the market and small tastings with the cooking class with sushi. It was really good and fresh ingredients. I can highly recommend this tour.
Akiko and Masa were tremendous hosts! The walking tour was soo involved and educational and so interesting to learn about! There are so many amazing places to see here between food and trinkets, it was great to be shown around. The sushi making class was wonderful as well! Such fresh ingredients, learning the exact ways of how to do and create a bento box was so fun and useful. I would highly recommend this tour, 5 stars for sure!
I joined this tour with my friend, and we had a wonderful time! It was fascinating to see the behind the scenes of the Tsukiji shops, which you normally wouldn't get to experience. Our guide also explained the history of Tsukiji and the strong connections between the people who work there, which made the tour even more meaningful. The sushi making experience was definitely the highlight. It was so much fun to make our own sushi, and it tasted absolutely delicious! I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience the culture and history of Tsukiji while enjoying amazing sushi.
I very much enjoyed my personal tour of the market with AJ. She was very knowledgeable and pleasant to be with. She took me to places that normal tourists would not see. She was also my instructor for the sushi making class. I do not know my way around a kitchen, but she made the experience easy and I have a new skill to show off to my family. I will definitely tell my friend all about this tour and AJ.
I experienced good mood and learned many things from here
It was nervous about my first tour, but the guide was very kind! I had a great time! By participating in this tour, you can learn things you wouldn't learn just by sightseeing normally. I even got to go inside a house that was built 100 years ago! You can even make your own sushi! So delicious:) If you're going to Japan, you should definitely visit Tsukiji! Have fun!
I enjoyed walking Tsukiji and making sushi. Staff san are so very nice and kind, so it was very good experience. I didn't know what Tsukiji was like, but I'm glad I got to experience it. Sushi I made was very delicious!!
This was my first time in Tsukiji, and I really enjoyed being able to visit places I wouldn't have gone to without a guide. I would love to participate again.
Fantastic experience! The market was so interesting and I loved the detail they went into in the sushi preparation. And the ingredients were simply spectacular - fatty tuna, fresh wasabi. I really enjoyed it. Special thanks to Akiko and Masa for a great morning.
This was one of the highlights of our trip to Tokyo! Such a unique and memorable experience from start to finish. Our host was incredibly knowledgeable and shared so much fascinating information about Tsukiji Market, its history, and the different seafood vendors as we explored the market together. After the tour, we used fresh fish purchased directly from the market to create our own sushi bento. Everything was explained clearly, making it easy and enjoyable even for beginners. The quality and freshness of the ingredients were outstanding, and it was so rewarding to learn the techniques and then enjoy the meal we had made ourselves. If you're looking for an authentic, hands-on food experience in Tokyo, I can't recommend this enough. I would 100% do this again and would happily recommend it to anyone visiting Japan!
This was one of the highlights of my trip to Tokyo. I accidentally arrived about 10 minutes late, but Mihoko and Masa were incredibly kind and waited for me. Because it was raining, I ended up being the only person on the tour, which made it feel like a private experience. They showed me all around Tsukiji Market, explained the history and culture in great detail, and even took me inside parts of the market I would never have found on my own. A lovely surprise was that they bought me fresh tuna to try before the sushi-making class. The sushi-making experience itself was fantastic—fun, informative, and hands-on. Mihoko and Masa were friendly, knowledgeable, and made me feel welcome throughout. They took lots of photos during the tour and even sent them to me afterwards, which I really appreciated. An unforgettable experience with amazing guides. If you’re visiting Tokyo, I highly recommend this tour! 🍣🇯🇵✨
If you’re on the fence about booking just a sushi class or this combined tour, trust me and go with the full experience! The whole tour is a super compact 2 hours—1 hour exploring Tsukiji and 1 hour making sushi. Getting to make sushi with Ajino-san was so much fun, but that first hour exploring the market was the real game-changer. You get to see the authentic, 100-year-old local side of Tsukiji that you’d 100% miss on your own, plus find honest shops with local prices. Learning the story of the market first made the sushi we made afterward taste a million times better! It’s the perfect, fast-paced Tokyo experience. Don't hesitate, just book it!
I had an amazing experience on the Tokyo Sushi Making & Tsukiji Market Tour. The highlight of the tour was definitely our guide, who was incredibly kind, friendly, and knowledgeable. From the moment the tour started, they made everyone feel welcome and comfortable. Their explanations about Japanese food culture, sushi traditions, and the history of Tsukiji Market were clear, interesting, and full of fascinating details that I would never have learned on my own. As we walked through the market, the guide shared insights about the ingredients, local businesses, and customs that make Japanese cuisine so unique. I was impressed by how much they knew and how passionately they spoke about the culture. They were always happy to answer questions and took the time to make sure everyone understood and enjoyed the experience. The sushi-making session was also excellent. The guide and instructors explained each step carefully and patiently, making it easy even for beginners. Their encouragement helped me feel confident while preparing my own sushi. It was not only fun but also educational. What made this tour truly special was the combination of hands-on learning and cultural knowledge. Thanks to the guide’s expertise and warm personality, I gained a much deeper appreciation for Japanese food and traditions. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Tokyo. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my trip, and I am very grateful to the guide for making it so enjoyable and meaningful.
I really enjoyed the sushi-making experience. The instructors not only taught us how to make sushi in a careful and easy-to-understand way, but also explained its history and origins. I also learned a lot about Japanese culture, including the history of the buildings and other cultural aspects. It was a very valuable and educational experience.
I had an experience that I can't get on a normal trip.
I had a super amazing experience being able to get a tour of the Tsukiji market and being able to see the hidden local areas as well as learning the history and many cool trivia’s about the Tsuikiji market. The instructor was super sweet as well and politely taught us how to make each sushi step by step. We were prepared with fresh, high quality fish and other items in the bento box. The bento boxes were handmade and very aesthetically pleasing with cherry blossom prints. There were also many decorations for the sushi’s as well!! Overall it was a 10/10 experience and will definitely recommend to any age.
Had an amazing experience today in Tsukiji! We first walked around the market and got to watch how Japanese omelets were made, which was super interesting. After that, we explored the fish market and learned about different kinds of fish, Japanese food culture, and the history of Tsukiji. We also visited knife shops and kitchen tool stores, which was really cool. The sushi-making experience was definitely one of the best parts. We didn’t just make sushi, but also learned about the history and etiquette behind it. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and answered every question perfectly. You could really tell how passionate they were. Overall, it was such a fun and memorable experience, and I’d definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Tokyo!
The sushi-making experience was really fun and enjoyable. The atmosphere felt warm and welcoming rather than overly formal, which made it easy to relax and have a good time. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout the activity, and the sushi toppings were surprisingly fresh and delicious. I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone visiting Japan or anyone who loves sushi and Japanese culture.
I ended up visiting the Tsukiji Outer Market on short notice, but since this tour combined a walking tour with a sushi-making class, I was able to make the most of my time there very efficiently. I highly recommend this tour.
On this tour, we got to take a look behind the scenes at a tamagoyaki shop and a japanese kitchen tool store. I think this is the kind of experience you can only have because the tour owner is a local. I highly recommend it !
I was looking for a guided tour of the Tsukiji Fish Market when I found one that included a sushi-making experience, so I signed up without hesitation. I bought the tuna recommended by the guide and was able to make and eat my own sushi, which was very exciting!
Although I only had a limited time, I was able to efficiently enjoy both sightseeing and the sushi-making experience. I highly recommend it.
I was very satisfied with the quick guided tour of the Tsukiji Fish Market, where I was able to go to places I wouldn't normally be able to access, such as the back rooms of the shops. The sushi bento I made myself was surprisingly delicious too!
We had such a great time making sushi bento at Tsukiji Market! 🍣 It was super hands-on and fun, and the kids were totally into it—which made it even more special for us as a family. We also loved walking around Tsukiji after—the shops they showed us were all really good and made the whole experience even more fun. Such an easy, memorable thing to do together. Definitely recommend if you’re in Tokyo with kids!
Hicimos nuestros primeros bento box!
Akiko's tour through the Tsukiji Fish Market was specifically focused on the highlights, pleasantly presented, and combined with lots of interesting information, various opportunities to sample things, and also some time for our own shopping. Since we consciously chose the shorter tour, this met our expectations exactly. We were especially happy about the origami cranes that we were given as a gift. From the very first moment, AJ welcomed us to the sushi making class with her pleasant, warm, and extremely competent manner. She explained all aspects of sushi preparation in an understandable, patient, and highly enthusiastic manner. You could immediately feel how much expertise and passion were behind it. We were also particularly impressed by the outstanding quality of the ingredients. Everything was totally fresh, straight from the Tsukiji Fish Market. My personal highlight was the use of a real wasabi root, which tastes significantly different from the usual paste. Of course, we were allowed to eat our own creations in a nice atmosphere. A real recommendation.
A beautiful workshop! AJ was really kind, as was the owner. You have the chance to see parts of the market that you could not see on your own, and to make your own bento box with high-quality products! I highly recommend it.
Wonderful time. The market tour with privileged access, The guide AJ is great! The ingredients for the sushi are excellent! "GOSHISOSAMA!"
Mia was delightful and helped us a lot in choosing the fish and preparing the sushi. The market tour was interesting and immersive.
It was fun to put it in a place you wouldn't normally get in. It was also fun to actually make sushi, knowing the ropes of how to make it for the first time.
