I have visited Japan many times. The tours Alisa organizes always provide an exceptional experience. She always run on schedule, and you are never treated dismissively just because you are a foreigner. I was initially embarrassed about getting naked, but I quickly got used to it—since everyone else was naked too LOL. There was also a thorough briefing beforehand. I had a wonderful time soaking in a clean open-air bath and interacting with the locals. The Japanese people are always so kind whenever I visit. My tattoo is small, but it wouldn't be an issue even if it were large. Regardless of tattoos, however, I would recommend this experience to all travelers. It isn't a manufactured tourist attraction; it is a genuine and wonderful Japanese tradition!

Itinerary
Unfortunately, most Onsens are rejected tattoos in Japan. However, there is a Tattoo-Friendly open-air Onsen! This is one of the few baths that allow tattoos! ★1★ Let's meet at the station. Woman guide can't take men to men's bath. But she will give you an instruction, so you will not be ashamed of making mistakes. Only the open-air bath, men and women are exchanged depending on the day. Women can be used on even days and men on odd days. If you make a reservation with a couple, one of two will not be able to enter the open-air bath. Instead, can take in a high concentration soda bath. Five indoor baths can be used at any time. There is also a separate open-air wooden deck. Use it naked. It is the best situation to see the Tokyo Sky Tree while relaxing in a hammock when you get hot! ※ Whether you do shampoo or just soak in is up to you. I usually just soak in. ※Weekends are crowded, you may have to wait to get in. ※You must bathe naked; swimwear is not permitted. ★2★ There is a convenience store nearby. I will buy one drink for each. Let's slowly return to the station.

I could not find the meet up so I contacted the “host” and asked if I could have the address of onsen to meet them there and never got a response back. I will never use Tripadvisor again. If you’re trying to do something in a foreign country, maybe having a little bit of latitude with people not being able to find places would be helpful. Ironically, I found the onsen myself so I would never have needed you anyway.
I actually did this tour in February of 2024, but I remember it very clearly as Alisa was our guide to the onsen. She was extremely professional and made an initially awkward experience in nudity at the onsen very natural and enjoyable. No one cared about what your body looks like or what it one it. It’s a very inclusive environment great for anyone who wants to experience this traditional relaxation. Alisa also treated us to some drinks afterwards at a local bodega of sorts. 10/10 would recommend.
This experience was excellent, we were guided by Alisa to a local onsen, and despite being nervous she made it so comfortable. She talked us through everything beforehand and came with us in each area before allowing us to explore on our own. I am quite heavily tattooed and it was hardly even looked at! Alisa even recommended a locally favourite drink for afterwards. the experience was fantastic and I would recommend it 1000%
We didn’t really know what to expect at the Onsen but Alisa explained everything very clearly and it turned out to be a great experience which we both enjoyed.
Fair warning when they say they leave on time they mean they leave early…we arrived at the meeting exit at 4:01 and there was nobody in site for the group…they messaged me at 4:02 saying they had already left and couldn’t wait…what a waste of money
Our Guide tour was really gentle and amazing. The experience of go to an Onsen was a must thing to do in Tokyo. I totally recommend the tour
It was a super relaxing and enjoyable experience, the guide did an exellent job taking us to and explaining everything about the onsen. Ots a 10 out of 10 experience i would recomend to anyone
It is authentic and respect the customs the facility was clean and friendly great experience for myself and my daughters
Our guide was great she provided clear directions on what to and not to do. It was a great first time experience.
This was a great experience! We were running late, but our guide was very understanding about this. Alisa explained the whole process and made the whole experience very comfortable and relaxing. Also gave great recommendations outside the experience - thank you!
The guide was informative about rules and procedures and made the experience an excellent time. The cold drinks at the end were an added bonus! Would go again!
Alisa was an amazing tour guide! She explained the rules of the onsen and walked us from the train station to the onsen. She came into the women’s side with myself and the woman who was apart of another couple. She made sure we had everything we needed and even gave me some restaurant recommendations. She took a picture of my partner and I and even remembered to wish him a happy birthday. Walking to the convenience store for a cold beverage at the end was perfect. All in all, it was a fantastic experience, especially as someone with many tattoos.
We had an amazing tour guide who was very kind and patient with us. She explained everything and was very kind while doing so.
A great time was had and I encourage anyone who hasn’t to try it. Those with tattoos get to experience something like this and I think that’s pretty awesome.
This was an excellent experience! Alissa (our guide) was on time to meet us and explain how things worked so we didn't make any errors when we visited the onsen. The Onsen isn't far from the meeting point and the facilities there are very good. We had a great first time experience of bathing, Japanese style. Would very much recommend this to anyone who has a tattoo (or more!) and still wants to experience this. The cold drink at the end is a really nice touch too!
Alisa met us at the station on time. She was so easy to talk to and made us feel comfortable with our first time onsen experience. The onsen we visited was not only tattoo friendly but also one of the only hot spring fed onsens in Tokyo. Relaxing environment.
This onsen was a great experience- a perfect end to our time in Japan. Traditional and soothing. We wouldn’t have been able to experience this without Alisa’s guidance and instructions beforehand. The drink and present afterward was a lovely element. Highly recommended.
Our guide was wonderful. She explained the entire process with us and then took us inside. After the relaxing bathing she showed us around town a little. Very very good. Highly recommend
Met Alisa at the station and she was very nice. Explained to me the procedures of the bath house and then took me there. After really needed relaxing experience she picked me up from the lobby and walked me back to the station and then went out of her way to show me a good area to get a picture of the sky tree. Would definitely recommend and would do again if I visit again.
Guide was fantastic, we had an amazing time! Very relaxing and rejuvenating. I would do this over again if we had more time in Japan.
Very nice, relaxing experience. I went with 2 friends, all of us had never gone to a bathhouse before so it was so helpful to have Alisa there to guide us!
Met our guide Alisha at the metro station, she is punctual and nice lady. She explained in details on the do and don’t about the onsen. Good experience to have onsen with the locals. This onsen welcomed all the guests with tattoos:)
A great opportunity to experience an onsen if you have tattoos. The guide was amazing and the bath was easy to navigate and experience.
Alisa was very nice, and organised. After a small wait, the onsen was a nice experience, and definitely relaxed me. She left us with a small gift, which was very sweet.Once in a lifetime experience. Thank you.
What a wonderful open air Onsen! Relax our mind and body while watching the Tokyo Sky Tree. Alisa accurately explained her procedure and we had no worries. The tower was so huge so surprised :-) Thank you for taking us to two places that we couldn't reach on our own. Also gave me a Japanese gift!!!
I was looking forward to this cool experience. But I knew that tattoos were banned in Japanese hot springs. But I met Alisa's plan. The open-air bath was a very exciting experience near my inn. Alisa is a kind and polote woman, taught the history of Onsen and bathing procedures. Surely, it was hard to enter this facility by myself. She bought a Umeshu(plum sake) for me at a convenience store and saw the upside down Tokyo Skytree! Invisible from the inn. This is a highly recommended experience if you are in Tokyo!
Good experience with friendly and nice guide who showed us the whole process of bathing on an onsen. The whole family thought it was a nice experience.
Totalmente recomendada.
