2nd review, 1st one was blocked by system. Fun samurai session, great ninja star throwing, informative history lessons, well run operation.
Good amount of activity and involvement in a friendly and encouraging environment. Traditional robe, substantial practice swords, direction from instructor and photo ops all made for an enjoyable beginner experience. Ninja museum with throwing star practice was informative and fun as well.
It was nice but very introductory. Does not really provide skills or deep knowledge. The museum is pretty impressive.
This was a very touristy experience but was super fun! Kenny and Yu were full of energy and gave a great historical account that complimented the hands-on portion. Our 13-yo son had a blast. I would definitely recommend this for anyone with kids 5 and up. The adults also enjoyed it, especially the part where we threw ninja stars.
Was a great experience. Went with a friend, but would definitely bring my kids back here if I ever bring them to Japan
My husband and I fully enjoyed our samurai experience. Dressing up and learning the movements, along with some history made it a great experience.
Absolutely amazing! Super cool! As a practictionaer of bokken, I learned a lot. Even if you know nothing of the practice they teach you everything you need to know to feel like a samurai!
Must do the option of dressing up in samurai and learning dome moves with the swords, an absolute must in Japan, great experience from start to finish.
We did the sword lesson with dress up and ninja history with star throwing. We had a private sword lesson it was great and we had so much fun! History was great, good English speaking guide. Star throwing was a highlight for my 10 year old son.
Good experience. Super cool, super informative. Our group made it kind of annoying but the actual staff and the experience itself was nice.
Great experience going with family - would certainly recommend. Kids friendly (there were some kids aged 6+) but mostly were adults / families. Tatsui (first trainer) was the sword arena trainer - did a pretty good job explaining (and also helped us with some pretty good click postures). Recommendation - Go with a realistic / open mind (and open to some simple fun), and you'd come out liking the experience. Improvement: - Would have loved to see 2 trained people do an actual sword fight. We've all seen movies, in person would have been great (I know another Sumo programme does this). - IMHO the museum has a lot to see / learn but the pronunciation of the the second person was quite difficult to comprehend (very heavy MTI). They were carrying a mic which really helped, but still. - Sword fighting arena felt a tad little more filled-up than what would have been comfortable to swing plastic swords. Nothing happened, but ideally a smaller batch would have been nice.
Great fun with the family not too long & good to do with kids. Entertaining & fun to try with the swords
Our instructor Akira was incredible. Definitely an expert on the Samurai sword techniques and attire. It was a fun learning experience with him. But I was very nervous when we mentioned a recording would take place of all the moves he had taught us. Thankfully it was just on our personal phones and fully guided by him the entire way. But I could've done without that part. Due to my stage fright. Other than that the museum was full of great information, a knowledgeable guide, a fun ninja shuriken contest. And a great gift shop that was full of great souvenirs.
Visited with my partner and we had an amazing experience at the Samurai Sword Experience. We created some great memories and it was one of the highlights of our Japan trip! The sword cutting experience with our Sensei was hands-down one of the best parts, he was very knowledgeable, friendly and made it really fun. Definitely recommend this to anyone interested in Japanese culture and samurai history.
We had a great time learning about the Samurai and their training. The history of the Samurai and Ninja has always fascinated me since I was a kid.
Amazing and fun! The handling of swords were my favourite and the costuming as well as the history and artefacts! The hosts were all funny and easy to understand!
Very enjoyable, knowledgeable guides and great interaction. Would definitely recommend this to travellers
We had a great time at this samurai/Ninja experience. You get to hear a lot about the history and then throw some stars like real ninjas. And there's a competition that you just might win!
It was so much fun to dress up in hakama and have a sword fighting demonstration!! I also really wanted to shoutout the instructor Rin! This was my younger brother's first cultural experience in Japan, and as someone with ASD, I was a little worried about him doing the experience. But, Rin was so friendly, patient, and warm towards my brother and he really helped kick off his first trip to Japan in a such a fun and wonderful way. Myself and Danny really appreciated you and Danny fondly remembers his experience with you!
Japanese pop culture shared with small immersed audiences by fun hosts using easy-to-understand North American English.
The staff was friendly, supportive, helpful, and made a great experience. Kenny was a great instructor. Momo was very knowledgeable and knew her Japanese history.
Ryo Sensei did a great job on our lesson would 100 recommend to anyone, he kept the lesson entertaining and light, definitely was a highlight of this trip
Started with the samurai experience doing real exercises with an amazing instructor Ryo that’s actually a descendant of real Samurai! And took the historic tour with the ninja experience too in which the instructor Mono was amazing too! Would highly recommend going!
Excellent tour! Educational, fun and great for all ages! We had Nao as our tour guide. There was a practice session throwing shuriken (ninja stars) and you can try on the samurai costumes!
Super fun, Meg was fantastic! Tour takes around 45 minutes and is really easy, especially in the summer with AC was really nice.
This was a very cool and informative experience. All staff spoke very good English. Good location with ease of drop off as well as good shops nearby!
It is fantastic experience.. All family enjoy it. Everybody is very kind and helpful. The Sensei is amazing.
Thank you, Rina. We have awesome experience . She gave a lot info. We learned about japanese history. Especially about Samurai
A lot of fun and learned a lot! Very informative and enthusiastic history lesson. Sword lesson was respectful, interesting and fun!
Really fun for everyone. And surprisingly good historical learning. The experience had lots of hands on activities and was very engaging.
My kids and I had an incredible time at the Samurai Museum in Tokyo! The experience was both fun and educational — we learned so much about the history and culture of the samurai. Our guide, Momo, was absolutely fantastic! She was kind, engaging, and explained everything in a way that kept both the adults and the kids interested. One of the highlights was the sword experience — my children were thrilled to hold real katana swords (under supervision, of course) and even try on samurai armor. It was such a memorable and interactive activity for all of us. Highly recommend this museum for families traveling to Tokyo. It’s a perfect mix of history, hands-on fun, and great storytelling. Thank you to Momo and the whole team for making it such a special day!
Nao and Ellen were both excellent in demonstrating what samurai culture was like, and explaining the rich history behind it. The sword class and the throwing stars were both amazing. ありがとございます!
Great information on samurai and ninja and Japanese history. Mono was really great. It was a good interactive experience.
Best experience taking the family. We lived it. We also learnt so much about Japan. Highly reccomend! Also great fir snakl family. Sensai was very entertaining also teaching us how to use the swords. So much fun!
Great experience. Learn some samurai history and sword skills. Sensi was extraordinary and well trained in martial arts and swords.
We had a good time, however, we could not see a lot of the exhibits due to a lack of time in each area.
Such a great experience! Never would I have thought I would come to Tokyo and learn how to use a sword! We had a great experience and Sendai Ryo is super knowledgeable and breaks down instruction very well. We had a great tour of the museum by Momo, I learned so much about the history of the samurai and Tokyo itself! Highly recommend
Had a very good tour. Momo was a great tour guide and made the experience a fun one. She is very knowlegable of the history of both Samurai and Shinobi. You are also able to dress up as a Samurai for some photo.
Excellent experience for families specially with small kids. We had so much fun with the sword training and learned a lot about samurai and ninja culture.
Absolutely amazing! The Samurai Museum offers a fascinating glimpse into Japan’s warrior past with stunning armor, swords, and live demonstrations. Informative, well-presented, and truly immersive. A must-visit!
Amazing tour with Akira today ❤️ fun time exploring the samurai museum and practicing throwing shurikens. Dress like a samurai, learn the history and practice throwing stars.
Meg was a wonderful guide! She was knowledgeable and funny. The displays were clean and neat, and the staff was very organized. Our family had an amazing time!
We did all of the experiences here and it was great! Momo did a great job at explaining the history of Samurai with such enthusiasm - Arigato!!
Great experience. Tour guide was funny and informative. We really enjoyed viewing the info and costumes. Highly recommend for those who are in area.
Rina was great! Very informative and super fun especially the ninja stars! Wish we had more time in each section but was really good. She’s a great guide and very friendly
Momo was a great teacher to learn from. She goes into depth about the samurai and ninja history. I learned something new and I would definitely recommend this place.
Great experience and learned a lot. Ryo-sensei was amazing!! We did katana training, shuriken throwing, pipe shooting, guided tour, Kendo presentation and more.
