Itinerary
Stroll through Omoide Yokocho and soak in the nostalgic atmosphere of narrow alleys, tiny shops, and old Tokyo charm.
Don't miss the iconic giant 3D cat of Shinjuku East Exit — one of Tokyo's most beloved digital landmarks. Keep your camera ready, though this mysterious feline sets its own schedule and may not always be around to greet you.
Stop at the iconic Kabukicho Gate for a photo op. This grand entrance marks Japan's most famous entertainment district, which transformed from postwar ruins into a vibrant hub of nightlife and pop culture.
Look up and spot the legendary Godzilla head looming over Shinjuku — a must-snap moment for fans and first-timers alike.
Your guide will bring Golden Gai to life with stories of its postwar roots — a maze of tiny bars and narrow alleyways that has long been a gathering spot for locals, artists, and night owls. Walking through, you'll hear how this hidden corner of Shinjuku has somehow managed to stay exactly the same while the rest of the city transformed around it.
Visit Hanazono Shrine, a landmark that actually predates Shinjuku itself. Your guide will share the stories behind its long history and explain why it remains a spiritual anchor for the local community.
Pass by Suehirotei, one of Tokyo's oldest surviving rakugo theaters and the origin of the name Suehiro-dori street. This corner of Shinjuku 3-chome has a quieter, more neighborhood feel — a side of Shinjuku where locals have gathered for entertainment and everyday life for generations.

Enjoyed our tour with Yuki, great for our first day in Tokyo. Got helpful tips and advice for the rest of our trip and met interesting people from different parts of the world. The food and drinks were good and we ended up feeling full. Would definitely recommend this tour and Yuki. He was very friendly and helpful.
Yuki was friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable.the food and drinks were all good and his recommendations were greatly appreciated
Really, really good. Guide was gregarious and explained in great detail the foods we ate, the history behind them, and why specific beverages were paired with specific foods. He also gave interesting notes on the history of each area of Shinjuku we visited. No shortage of food or booze. Two points to take into consideration. There is a lot of walking. The drink pairings are all alcoholic, so if you are a tea-totaler, you won't get the full experience. Before the tour, explore Shinjuku in the afternoon; the tour has you experience Shinjuku by night. Hint: if you get to the meeting point really early, go across the street to the Odakyu department store and take the escalator down to the food floor. Amazing.
This was an incredible experience and I highly recommend it to everyone! Massachusetts is a wonderful guide who was informative and guided us through interesting parts of the area while going from one venue to another. The perfect pairings are indeed perfect and spot on for compatibility and tastiness! There was a great quantity to eat and the beverages superb. Massachusetts, thank you so much for your hospitality and kindness during this phenomenal tour.
Loved our tour with wonderful guide Massachusetts. Great selection of food and drinks, and was great to hear all about the food and history of Tokyo.
Ramesh was an excellent guide and taught us not just about eating and drinking in Japan but also about the area he guided us through. Had a wonderful evening.
Wonderful experience- great selection of eateries
The food and drink was all delicious and high quality - I particularly loved the ramen. My guide was fun and very informative - I learned way more than expected on a food tour! I’ll be back to try the bar tour with Magical Trip. Thank you for the nice day!
Kazu was a great guide and very detail-oriented in explaining the food and drinks. The tour was very informative and a good introduction to a variety of Japanese food, from izakaya to ramen. Drinks are also included. Whether this is your first or third visit to Japan, this tour would be a great learning experience.
Ramesh was amazing! He was very engaging and knowledgeable! And made the day such a joy for my entire family!
Alice was a terrific guide for the Shinjuku Perfect Pairing Food Tour, leading us to four unique locations where delicious food and drink were featured, each with a different ambiance. The food at all the spots she took us to was uniformly excellent, fresh and tasty, and the drinks provided a good overview of the cocktail culture to be found in Tokyo. Alice was kind and informative, taking the time to explain lots of history of the area, and pausing our tour to show us some convenience store products that she thought we might enjoy. We also detoured to a quiet and peaceful shrine in the middle of busy Shinjuku that we never would have known about otherwise. The tour ended at Family Mart, where we picked up dessert for later, as we were far too full for any more food or drink! We highly recommended Alice and this tour!
This has been a great tour. The restaurant choices and the food variety and quality were outstanding. The tour guide ,Yuki, was very knowledgeable and explained different aspects of the tour in minute details. Yuki was very pleasant and had great communication skills. This was one of the best tours that I have taken in Tokyo thus far and I do strongly recommend it.
It was a really fun and complete tour! We tried different foods and drinks from japan while visiting the most popular places of Shinjuku!! 🔥
It was a great tour because ultimately it made us feel more connected to Japan and welcomed to every place. It was nice to be under the kindness of our guide Kazu who taught us about Japanese culture and food. He was very kind and almost felt like being with a friend!
It was so fun to learn about the city and its history. All the food was delicious and our guide Rai was personable and kind. We couldn’t ask for a better experience. We highly recommend it!
