We had the absolute best time at this tour and cooking class! It was a complete surprise to me, as it was a secret birthday gift while we were visiting Tokyo. The guide was so sweet and thoughtful, even bought us strawberries to have with our meal later! The cooking class was phenomenal! The instructor, wife of the tour guide, was so kind, patient, and taught us so much. We never felt rushed, we took our time cooking and asking questions, the atmosphere was very welcoming and relaxing, they were new at the time so it was only my boyfriend and I, and the food turned out delicious! We cannot wait to go back and do this tour again, next time we visit Tokyo.

Ramen Making Experience with Hiroko and Aki who were both lovely. The first hour was a ‘walking tour’ going in and out of different shops such as electrical store, old vintage store. We weren’t expecting this as part of the cookery class. Would have preferred to have had all the time spent dealing with food. Loved making noodles from scratch, really good fun. The rest of the ramen making was very basic. Ate our ramen at the end of the class, very tasty
Setsko was a knowledgeable guide. I really appreciated her giving us a tour of the grocery store. Tamae was an amazing chef and helped us create a fun experience and delicious ramen lunch.
We really enjoyed the tour and the ramen making experience
Aki was our guide and very knowledgeable about the neighborhood. So friendly. Rowena the chef was a very good instructor and also very friendly. I highly recommend it!
Rowena san made our experience an amazing. She took care of the fact that we have best time of our life. Me being a vegetarian, she personally took care of the experience and made sure I have my tasty ramen experience.
We visited Tokyo to celebrate our daughter's 25th birthday, and this experience was one of the highlights of our trip! My family loves taking cooking classes when we travel internationally, and the Ramen Making From Scratch + Akihabara Tour exceeded all of our expectations. Our guide, Setsuko Ishido, was warm, energetic, and incredibly knowledgeable. She gave us a fascinating walking tour of Akihabara, sharing its history and modern culture before taking us to a local grocery store to shop for our ramen ingredients. She explained each ingredient, its flavor, and even suggested substitutions we could use back home. Setsuko made the entire tour engaging and memorable. At the cooking studio, we met our instructor, Satomi, who just happened to share the same birthday as our daughter—the very day of our class! She was patient, welcoming, and an excellent teacher. Her one-on-one instruction made the cooking process easy to follow, and we were amazed by how delicious our homemade ramen turned out. From the bright, spotless kitchen to the personalized attention and genuine hospitality, every detail made this experience exceptional. We left with wonderful memories, new cooking skills, and one of the best meals we had in Japan. I highly recommend this tour and Patia's Cooking to anyone visiting Tokyo!
We were visiting Tokyo to celebrate our daughter's 25th birthday. My family and I travel internationally quite often and enjoy learning to cook foods that are popular for the regions we visit. The Ramen Making From Scratch +Akihabara Tour through Viator was such a fun and wonderful experience. Our tour guide, Setsuko Ishido, was so kind, energetic and informative. We loved how she walked us through the Akihabara area explaining the history and current day happenings of the area. She also took us to a local grocery market where we picked up ingredients for the Ramen and listened intently as she explained the ingredients and their flavors and substitutes we could use if we couldn't fine the ingredients back home. Setsuko is amazing! When we arrived at the kitchen, we met our wonderful instructor, Satomi who happened to share the same birthday of our daughter which was the day of our class! Her demeanor was so welcoming, calm and pleasant as she taught us how to make absolutely delicious Ramen. We were so excited and proud of the meal we made. We enjoyed everything about the experience from the very clean, light and airy kitchen space to the one on one attention we received from Satomi. I highly recommend this tour and Patia's cooking classes.
We had a fun morning with a short tour of Akihabara and a local grocery store before heading to the kitchen to make ramen. We were met by Shafi who was very enthusiastic about the Akihabara area and Japanese food. It was very interesting to learn about unfamiliar items at the grocery store. Hiroko did an excellent job of guiding us through the steps of making our ramen including making "wavy" noodles. The food was delicious and we had fun making it.
We had a fabulous time!!! The food was delicious!!! Hiroko and Michilo were wonderful!!!! Made us feel right at home and had a fantastic time!!! My kids loved the experience and would definitely do again whenever we return!!! Monica Flores
I had a great experience. I was assisted by Tamae and Maho, and they were two of the kindest people I met during my trip to Japan. They were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and made me feel comfortable throughout my visit. The food was excellent. Their outstanding hospitality and the overall atmosphere made this a memorable experience. I would highly recommend visiting and look forward to returning in the future.
This was a really cool experience. Mikiko met us at the train. We took train to grocery store. Shopped for fresh ingredients and then made ramen from scratch. Hiroko was an amazing teacher and my 15 yo son even enjoyed the cooking. Best time today and lunch was awesome . They also take photos and share so you can spend the time enjoying. They capture the moments 😊
This was so fun! Very hands-on. Instructors were great—very patient and helpful. My daughter has a gluten allergy and they were extremely accommodating. Highly recommend!
This was a highlight of our trip. Satomi and Yuko were wonderful and the ramen was amazing. It was a perfect family activity.
The best time they were all helpful and the food tasted amazing.
A very fun and comprehensive lesson with a delicious end result! They were very mindful of any dietary restrictions in the group and still provided an equally fun experience for everyone. Rowena was our personal guide and she was very knowledgeable and helpful in teaching us each step of the way. Even when it was obvious that there was a vast difference in skills between participants and instructors, they let us do everything ourselves and offered help when needed, resulting in a custom and tasty meal that we could all be proud of. I would definitely book another lesson with this group!
Aki and Kiho were absolutely amazing! Very patient with us, very calm. They explained everything beautifully, and gave us the best experience. The food was delicious, but nothing can top how well Aki and Kiho treated us, and gave us the best experience! Wonderful people!
We met with our teacher, Saori, at the Akihabara station. After a brief tour of Akihabara, we had a very interesting visit of a local market. Saori introduced us to the various ingredients needed for making ramen. We then moved on towards the kitchen lab, where we managed to cook and eat two delicious bowls of ramen, thaks to Saori's attentive guide! She has been exceptionally welcoming, with great English skills and caring attitude towards us. Definitely recommended experience.
This was one of the highlights of my sister and I’s Japan trip! Our instructors were Aki and Kihou— they were excellent. The kitchen and ingredients are all prepped for you and they do all the cleaning. We just get to cook, learn, have fun, and end with a DELICIOUS meal! I highly recommend!!
We were greeted almost immediately. Rowena, our teacher, explained each ingredient and how to create it ourself (if not available in stores). She was very patient with us and provided advice on how to cut better/treat the dough. All of teachers were vibrant and smiling and welcoming. The ambience was perfect. I was able to enjoy a hand-made meal with my partner! 12 out of 10 I would recommend this experience in JAPAN!!
We had a great time learning about the neighborhood and then going to the grocery store to get ingredients for the ramen. We saw places we probably wouldn’t have found by ourselves. The ramen class was a lot of fun and the cooking teacher was very helpful. The ramen itself was delicious and it was very cool to make it ourselves!
it was so yummy we definitely recommend
100% recommend this experience. We got a tour of akhibara and grocery store by Mikiki who was wonderful. My 13 yr old son wanted to learn ramen making from scratch and this delivered. Our instructor Tamar was excellent. We had so much fun making everything form noodles to chashu to broth. Highly recommend.
Kihou was a very friendly and helpful guide. She was informative about the local area. We enjoyed going into the market. Rowan a very good instructor, we learned some great quick techniques for making the charsu pork and the ramen broth. It was very delicious. We had a lot of fun.
Mikiko was so great! So informative and sweet. Tamae was also so helpful and answered so many of our questions. This experience was amazing. I would definitely do it again. Food so delicious.
Had an amazing experience. I really love this thank you. Mikiko and Tamae.
We really enjoy this tour, all the staff was so friendly and professional, we learned a little bit of the origin of Akihabara before all the boom of anime. The class was so fun and for sure we will try to make the ramen in home.
We were given a small tour of Akihabara with Kihou and Setsuko. We were shown an old retro electronics shop where they still sold older model electronics! Was super cool! We went to a local Japanese supermarket to pick up the pork belly for the ramen cooking portion with Hiroko. It was roughly 3 hours in total and the ramen was absolutely delicious! We had great conversation and overall had a great time. If you are looking for a personable experience I highly recommend booking this class to make authentic Japanese ramen from scratch!
This was an amazing experience, great tasting ramen and the two best instructions (Rowena & Misato) to make this happen. Thank you!
We participated in this cooking class while on a tour with high school students from the United States. The staff was incredible, but especially our cooking instructors, Rowena and Misato. The class kept the attention of the adults and students, and the ramen was seriously the best I’ve ever had! I definitely recommend a cooking class at Patia’s!
Rowena was an excellent instructor and helped answer all of our questions. She even talked about different types of broth with us, which we were interested in learning about.
What an amazing experience - was really fun to make the noodles from scratch and the ramen. Rowena, Setsuko and Saori were very friendly and informative. What lovely ladies! And really enjoyed walking around the area and going to supermarket to buy the ingredients Thanks you - highly recommended
We love booking a cooking class wherever we travel and Tokyo was no different. We loved our Patia ramen making class! Kyoko met us at the station and gave us a wonderful tour of Akihabara - through the tiny market stalls; busy streets and local supermarket. Along the way she explained the culture, customs and food in a way that was enjoying for our teenage son. Hiroko was a wonderful teacher in the kitchen explaining all of the details of ramen making. She made it fun, easy and delicious. Enjoying our creations at the end of the class was definitely a highlight.
Our gyoza class at Patia's was amazing. Everything was arranged and ready to go when we arrived. Tamae and Saori were wonderful and gracious hosts/teachers. We learned to make several side dishes and enjoyed a full meal after making our own gyoza from scratch.
So cool, making our own Ramen bowls they were even able to set up a station for vegetarian option.
Saori, was a great teacher and was very patient with us. The experience was wonderful, I would recommend this to anyone that is in Tokyo. It was about an hour and a half and everything was done from scratch.
Ramen was delicious and process was quick and easy. Your guide was great new all the good spots 👍
Really fun experience! Rowena was a great instructor. Kids had fun! Tonkotsu ramen was delicious. Make sure you slice your noodles thiiiin😁 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
My family (wife, three teenaged daughters) had a really fun, memorable and tasty experience. We have done cooking classes all over the world, and this one tracks among the best. Shafi, our guide, was terrific. So lively and personable, he had fascinating stories about every item we saw in the local market. I didn’t think it was possible to make a supermarket tour both educational and fun, but Shafi did just that. He was funny, his English was perfect, And he kept all of us engaged. The cooking experience was also excellent. The studio was clean And modern. And Hiroko, our instructor, was kind and patient. Most importantly, the ramen we made was delicious. Will definitely be taking the recipe and other lessons we learned back home with us. Highly recommend.
My son and I took the Patia Japanese Cooking Class during our recent trip to Tokyo, and it was truly one of the highlights of our entire visit. We started the experience with a lovely walk through Akihabara, Tokyo’s iconic anime district, where my son got to browse a few shops and pick up some fun souvenirs. From there, Saori guided us through a local grocery store, showing us the fresh ingredients we’d be using to make our ramen. It was such a great way to understand the flavors and care that go into Japanese cooking. Once we arrived at the Patia cooking school—which is beautiful, by the way—we had a private, hands-on lesson where we learned to make ramen completely from scratch. We made our own noodles, created the broth from fresh ingredients, and cooked step-by-step with expert instruction. It was fun, engaging, and surprisingly relaxing. My son and I absolutely loved this experience. The team also took fantastic photos for us, which made the day even more memorable. Highly recommend this class to anyone visiting Tokyo—especially families looking for something unique and immersive to do together.
My wife and I had a great time! We really enjoyed the whole experience, especially because this class has the Akihabara tour and grocery store visit which other cooking classes don't have. It was really cool going to a local grocery store and picking out ramen-making ingredients for us to take back home in the USA. The hosts were really friendly and informative, their English was great, and it was really cool going through the class and learning how to make ramen. It felt like they took care of the less interesting parts of cooking so the class was just the fun parts of making ramen. We would definitely recommend the class to anyone else!
My husband and I really enjoyed our ramen making class with Saori! It is a unique experience because you get a short tour of Akihibara and a local supermarket before learning how to cook the ramen. The supermarket was great to walk through and see all the seasonal items that go into Japanese cuisine. We are from a city that doesn’t have many ramen restaurants and it was a great introduction to the different styles of ramen - I discovered I love pork belly ramen! I would recommend anyone to take this class if you are looking for an approachable guide to learn how to make ramen at home and if you’re wanting a local’s perspective of the area! Thank you again Saori for the wonderful experience!
Excellent experience from beginning to end. We were met at the station and given a tour of the area and then sent to the local market to view the types of ingredients needed to make ramen. We then headed to a modern kitchen for our lesson. The chef gave excellent instructions for the cooking lesson and the food was delicious. We all had a fun experience. We would highly recommend this cooking class. Our guide, known as ‘Q’ was lovely and very knowledgeable. Thank you for helping us to make a wonderful memory from our visit to Tokyo.
Had an amazing experience with our instructor Misato and our guide Mr Bunga would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Japan Misato taught a wonderful class!! It made making the ramen easy and fun! Bunga gave a great tour with all the highlights of the area and good recommendations on places to go
My wife and I had a fabulous time learning how to cook ramen from Misato, Shati, and the rest of their crew. The chashu pork was absolutely delicious. Also thank you for also taking the time to recommend and explain lots of interesting info about Japan as well. We both highly recommend this for anyone who is looking for a casual cooking class that leads to a yummy meal. Thanks again! -Coleen and Sun
A great way to spend a morning. I loved the tour of the grocery store. Shati was a very enthusiastic tour guide. He shared lots of great information. Our sensei, Misato, explained things very well. Our lunch of homemade Ramen was delicious.
Kyoko was a wonderful host for our ramen making class and Bunga was a very personable and knowledgeable guide for our walking tour! Kyoko shows you how to make a very delicious bowl of ramen while making the noodles from scratch! Using locally bought food that you pick up along the way! While buying the food, Bunga also gave us a lesson in the different styles of ramen and what goes into the different styles. It was a wonderful time that is accessible to everyone. It was the perfect mix of history lesson of Akihabara, getting to live as the Romans do with a visit to a local farmers market for ingredients, and a course in how to make a great bowl of ramen!
Very fun to make ramen by yourself. The tour is a bit long because the classroom is actually a little far from the meeting point
The cooking class was fantastic! We first went shopping together and then made the ramen. I’m really looking forward to trying it out at home! Saori, our teacher, was so lovely and explained everything to us wonderfully!
Amazing Experience. You should definitely book this ! The team is so friendly and helpful. Definitely need to make this a stop on your trip
