We did this tour with 4 Family members. My Son is a fashion student in Australia, with a major interest in Denim. Momo was great and spent a lot of time and effort with him and targeted his exact interests. We could have spent a lot more time exploring but we had to catch a plane home! Highly recommend this tour and Momo.

What a wonderful experience. I had the most productive and joy filled day with Momo. Lots of lovely shops and fabric. Momo loves what she does and it shows. My husband got to do his own thing while I was so looked after and guided through Nippori town. While I could confidently shop by myself in the future, I will definitely book another tour with Momo next time I come to Tokyo. Definitely the best thing I have done is Tokyo so far. Now to work out how to get my purchases into my suitcase!
The fabric market is a collection of about 60 shops along a 1km stretch of road. If you went for a look around and wanted to buy some fabric you might have a pleasant time. However if you have an amazing guide like Momo-san to show you around, you'll find everything you want, learn some interesting facts and connect with the local community. Knowing where to go, being able to recommend stores based off of your preferences was very helpful, but the sharing of details, the introducing of the people in the local community and sharing of local history made the experience amazing. Really appreciated Momo-san's thoughtful consideration, connecting prior to the visit, finding out about our areas of interest and also her flexibility to ensure a wonderful time spent in Nippori. I booked this tour for my mother, she said it was the most meaningful thing she did in Tokyo! Highly recommend Momo-san's tour if your interested in dressmaking, quilting, etc. and in Tokyo.
A really interesting private tour of this area by Momo. She was very friendly and tailored the experience to our wants and interests. A lot of local knowledge and a passion for fabric - a truly enjoyable experience.
I am so grateful to MOMO who guided me through the incredible Nippori Fabric Town. She’s a very kind, knowledgeable and well organized woman. Within a few hours, I was able to take full advantage of this amazing area of Tokyo. I bought: 🧵 2 luxurious Liberty Fabrics 🧵 2 heavier cotton/linen fabrics for jackets 🧵 3 soft linens for pants 🧵 3 cottons for shirts 🧵 smaller quantities to use on my quilted wall hangings 🧵 2 Japanese sewing patterns Luckily, I heard that many sewists bring empty luggage, which really made everything so much easier. I weighed the “carry-on” suitcase back at the hotel, and it was 24 pounds! I NEVER could have accomplished all of this without her. She guided me through the stores and brought me to the places she knew I would enjoy, and then communicated with the staff about yardage as well as fabric care. We had some good laughs as well. She’s a very pleasant person, and there were a few times where I just felt paralyzed with a decision, and she gave me great feedback and encouragement. I have a lot of experience buying fabric, but being in a new country by myself and not speaking the language was an entirely different experience. I think I would have felt shy trying to interact and take care of business. Having MOMO by my side gave me more confidence, and it certainly improved my efficiency. I don’t know if I’ll ever make it back to Japan, but if I do, I will most certainly sign up for a guided tour again because it was truly a highlight of my trip. This fabric will always remind me of the terrific time I had in Japan and the wonderful day I spent with MOMO. Thank you!
MOMO-san is amazing and we had a great time on this tour. She knows about all of the stores. She helped me pick fabric and supplies. She also helped with questions, getting fabric cut and purchasing. She is a fellow sewist and has all the knowledge we needed to buy enough fabric to fill one half of one of our suitcases!
We visited so many shops and Momi did a great job of catering to my interests. I’m glad I packed an extra bag with me to carry my many purchases!
Excellent tour with an outstanding guide! Momo-san was a delightful guide; knowledgeable about the history of the area and what goods each store offered. She made a great effort to tailor the tour to my interests and sewing style. I was very impressed with Momo-san’s thoughtful communications with me before the tour even took place! Anyone who sews would be foolish to miss out on opportunity to visit Nippori fabric town with Momo-san. I only wish that the tour had lasted all day!
Momo was very knowledgable in all of the fabrics and the stores which we visited today. She spent the time to get to know me and find out what I was looking for. I bought way too much but the fact is all of the fabric were very beautiful and I can’t wait to sew with them when I return home. Momo was very personable, friendly and even gave me a cultural experience along the way. Thank you so very much Momo I will definitely be referring you to my friends should they visit Japan. I loved the day!
Nippori fabric town was a must see for my wife who loves to sew and is also interested in sashiko. MOMO-san has extensive experience of the Nippori fabric town stores and where to go for the various types of fabric and accessories. We wouldn’t have been able to find all the fabrics and other items at such good prices without MOMO-san’s guidance. This included an extensive selection of Liberty fabrics, denim, linen, sashiko, silk, cotton, lace, braid, thread, scissors and many other items. Needless to say I had to buy another bag to fit it all in for the trip home. There weee some great specialist shops we never would have found on the outskirts of the fabric town. MOMO-san was very patient and made sure we got to see all the shops that had the fabrics and other items from the list we sent her when we booked the tour. We highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in fabrics and particularly if this is your first visit to Nippori fabric town.
We would highly recommend a Nippori fabric tour with Momo-san. Rather than be overwhelmed by all that was available to see, Momo-san was able to tailor our visit to our interests and show us tips we would never have found ourselves. It was such an enjoyable time with Momo-san, as we happily discussed our passions for sewing and crafts, while exploring. 5 stars and more! Thank you again!
If you have an interest in sewing, quilting or fabrics this is the tour for you. Momo, my guide was so knowledgeable & nice. She showed me the highlights & tailored the tour to my interests.
MOMO, our tour guide was fantastic, patient and very knowledgable of the textile industry in Japan. We visited many different stores, each one unique and exciting. Her guidance was immeasurable and we really enjoyed our time with her. For any quilters or textile lovers, she is a must tour in Tokyo.
This is a great tour of Fabric Town. I was looking for someone to help me find quilting fabric and buy some from a specific store. Moms-San was so nice a helpful and knew her stores and the town.
MOMO was a fantastic guide and very informative about what fabrics were in each store. She helped us in every store from selecting fabric to helping us getting it cut and paying for it. I would definitely do this tour again if I come back
I highly recommend this tour! Momo-San brought me to many shops and explained some of the history and how things are run today. She also tailored the experience to me, and what I was looking for. She provided me with enough information, so that I could return to the shops on my own, if I want to. I was very happy to have her there to help me with purchases, since my Japanese is VERY limited. Because she also sews, she was able to help me figure out how much fabric I should purchase, since I don’t have any specific projects in mind yet, just some future ideas. It was also fun to see pictures of what she has sewn, and it inspired me for future projects! Again, I highly recommend this tour!
If this is your first trip to Tokyo and love fabric designs. MOMO is your perfect guide. Knowledgeable about the area her tour itinerary is guided by your specific fabric interests. Pick up point easy and speed of your tour is at your pace. Our tour was a perfect end to our visit.
Momo was a very knowledgeable and thoughtful tour guide. We truly enjoyed spending time with her and learned a lot about fabrics and the different options in shops in Nippori. She even followed up with more information after. I highly recommend!
I spent a couple of hours with the patient, sweet and delightful Momo, who guided me along the street, pointing out the characteristics of each of the shops, relating their history and explaining the Japanese labels, before ending in a place where she knew there were bathroom facilities and a couple of good cafes to rest my weary self. This then enabled me to double back to the shops I most admired, to carefully select the items I knew I couldn't find at home. It was lovely to have someone to chat and share the fabric appreciation and vibe of this busy street. It may take some patience, though, to find the treasures that really catch your eye.
We had so much fun with MOMO! Granda, my son and me took the tour because grandma was looking for quilting fabric. MOMO was so patient with us and extremely knowledgeable of the area and where we could find specific items. We had a blast and found some good stuff!
Great tour if you like any type of fashion related craft. Momo knows every corner of Nippori and can find the type of material you’re looking for if you tell her in advance. She’s very friendly and her English is flawless. Remember to wear your comfortable shoes as she says, as walking around all the Nippori stores takes a lot of walking, but it’s worthwhile.
Momo is an amazing guide! She is very knowable about the area and sewing all together. She was able to teach us about the culture and where the fabrics and designs came from.
This tour was fabulous and a must for anyone who sews or just wants to appreciate a different part of Tokyo culture. Momo is a wonderful and patient tour guide who explains the history of the fabric district, the character of each store, and helps out with every transaction. (And I made a lot of transactions!). We visited stores specializing in dress fabrics and notions, but there are shops dedicated to leather, home fabrics and anything you could imagine related to sewing. Definitely walking involved as the district is about 1 km long with shops on both sides. It’s an easy train ride from anywhere in Tokyo on the Yamanote line. There are cafes nearby for much needed refreshment after your tour. I’m already wishing for another visit!
Fantastic tour! Would highly recommend to anyone with an interest in textiles, craft and sewing. Momo, the delightful guide, has an extensive knowledge of the Nippori district, its history and the amazing range of materials available at each store. She was extremely helpful providing useful and informative advice for shopping in the district. Thank you Momo for a wonderful day finding lots of bargins in Nippori.
Momo-san had contacted me before the tour to find out my areas of interest and my favourite sewing projects, and then she brought me to the right shops to find the fabrics and sewing tools that I was looking for. Especially the "last stop" at Satoh Bin, which offers fabric pieces in affordable prices for my quilting projects. It has been an enjoyable and fruitful trip for me, thanks to Momo-san's recommendations.
If you are an experienced seamstress or just sew for fun, this is the tour for you. We had a great time visiting Nippori with Momo our tour guide. Momo was very knowledgeable about fabrics and where to find them. Her love for the art of sewing was infectious. Could have spent a few days here.
A must-do for anyone who loves fabric. Momo is a fantastic guide of this amazing and unique area. The number and range of shops is overwhelming and she is a maker herself and that makes all the difference. She helped me with buying which was wonderful in making the most of our time. She provides a great guide so that you can stay on (or come back) and visit shops independently. She tailored the tour to my interests (I was the only one on the tour as there are not many tourists in Japan yet). An amazing experience which I will be back again for.
