It was an amazing experience!! Mika and Kuni (I hope I got the names right!) were the perfect hosts and they taught us everything we needed to know with patience and enthusiasm!! The kitchen was very quiet and cozy, which was perfect for the more private experience we were looking for. Absolutely wonderful!!

Very friendly, professional, authentic, and high quality. We highly recommend them. We'd gladly come back on our next visit to Tokyo.
very professional and authentic cooking workshop with a high quality. Very friedly and polite teacher.
Lovely hosts and fantastic experience in Japanese culture
Yuki was absolutely amazing — such a warm and welcoming lady, and a joy to spend time with. We had a wonderful experience from start to finish and learnt so much about Japanese cuisine, culture, and the little techniques that make home‑style dishes so special. It was one of those rare experiences that feels both fun and deeply memorable. Thank you so much for such a wonderful afternoon 💕.
We had such an amazing time cooking with Yuki! It was all timed so perfectly and laid out to be very hands on with great instruction! Lots of laughter and good conversation! As two home cooks this was definitely a must do activity and we will be taking these recipes back home with us to share what we learned! Would 100% come back!
What a wonderful culinary amd gourmet experience learning to prepare and then eat such delicious food. Yuki is so patient, friendly and skilled and makes it so easy and such fun. We will come again!
We were able to express our menu preferences beforehand, and this was taken into consideration. We had a wonderful evening cooking with Yuki. She is a fantastic teacher and explained everything to us slowly and kindly. Yuki also gave us valuable and interesting background information about the dishes, the culture, and Japanese traditions. She is a wonderful hostess, and the atmosphere is cozy. We would absolutely recommend this cooking class.
We had a great time making bento boxes. Yuki was so welcoming and provided a lot of information about the different foods and culture behind them. The recipes were easy to make when we got home!
Instructors were wonderful as well ans incredibly kind and talkative. We really enjoyed cooking and definitely eating the food!
The ladies there were so lovely and sweet! It was a very fun experience and the food was amazing. Definitely recommend when visiting Tokyo!
Great experience for our family! We made miso soup, tonkatsu, and okonomiyaki. Everything was delicious, highly recommended.
A fantastic time! Ms. Kosa and Ms. Ichi were so gentle and kind in leading me and my family through the onigiri experience!!!!
It is hard to find their location, but if you call them they will come find you! It was a VERY authentic experience and a lot of fun. Not only did we learn to cook dishes we will make again, but the teacher was a lot of fun.
Yuki is an awesome host and teacher. She made us all feel comfortable and welcome. Her English is excellent! She provides everything needed to prepare a wonderful meal to enjoy. We made Oyakodon and Nikujaga, both delicious. All ingredients used are readily available in our local markets (California, USA). We wish Yuki the best and will look for another class with her in the future.
We had such an amazing time with Yuki! She was so personable, helping us to understand more about Japanese cooking and extremely patient with us in teaching us how to make udon and filet a fish! The food we made was so delicious, all thanks to our wonderful sensei, Yuki!
We had the most wonderful time with Yuki & Ichi! The process and result were an absolute delight, would recommend to everyone!
We had an amazing cooking class with Yuki in Tokyo! She was so kind and welcoming, and we loved learning and cooking with her. Everything was delicious — such a wonderful experience!. Thank you!!!
Yuki was lovely. The whole class was very warm and personal. We made miso soup, sushi, and mochi for dessert. Highly recommend. You can also stick around the neighborhood and do a little shopping.
Had a wonderful time learning more about Japanese cooking. We did the bento box and it was very yummy and she even catered to our request of no raw fish. It was fun to converse with a local and learn more about the Japanese culture.
We had a wonderful time making okonomiyaki and udon! We learned a lot, got to swap some fun stories and traditions, and Yuki was a great host. Highly recommend!
We joined a cooking class and it was such a wonderful experience. We learned how to prepare gyoza, okonomiyaki, and miso soup, all of which turned out absolutely delicious. The food was spectacular, the hosts were incredibly kind, and the atmosphere was warm and fun. We had a great time cooking, sharing, and learning together. I highly recommend this class to anyone looking for an authentic taste of Japanese culture!
Yuki was amazing! She was so sweet and fun to enjoy time with. Very hands on cooking class and the food was all delicious! 10/10 recommend. We loved our time!
We had a great time cooking Yanaka making miso dengaku (eggplant) and ufon noodles from scratch. We even used our feet to kneed the dough in the traditional manner. We found the experience very authentic and the food was delicious. Our host spoke very good English which made the session very informative. We also enjoyed walking around the local area.
Really enjoyed the cooking class. Very informative and fun. And of course we got to eat it all later 😊 thank you for a wonderful time 😊
Fantastic experience, we all enjoyed it very much. Great hosts and wonderful food, we learned a lot thank you. We would recommend 100%
What an amazing experience! We did other cooking classes and this was our favorite. Our host was kind and knowledgable. And the food was amazing!!!!
Our host / instructor made it fun and comfortable to learn multiple sushi preparations. She pointed out details about the various ingredients and reasons behind their purpose / use. She was so personable and made learning easy and not intimidating at all. Our hosts were also kind enough to offer suggestions for other sights to visit the following day since our Mt. Fuji tour was to be cancelled because of bad weather. Highly recommend for a personal, home cooking experience!
Very friendly and easy instructions with many tips for good results. Able to speak english well and were a lot of fun to talk to during the course of the lesson and meal. Would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to learn how to cook Japanese dishes.
This was such an amazing experience. Our two guides were excellent - they had a very good command of English n explained the steps n recipes really well (esp to our kids). The location is also amazing - situated in a less touristy part of the city in a residential neighborhood. We loved exploring that area as well.
We are not review writers but feel compelled to express our heartfelt appreciation for the exceptional experience we had cooking at the YANESEN Information & Culture Center. We initially met Masa, the business owner, the day before our cooking class (it was our first time in Tokyo so we went a day early to explore the train system, route times and familiarize ourselves on the class location). It was a very rainy day and Masa warmly greeted and treated us to a cup of hot coffee. We chatted about our class, and he seemed very interested in meeting all of our expectations. Before leaving, Masa graciously provided us with a much needed umbrella and also gave us directions to the Ueno Park Cherry Blossom Festival, along with interesting landmarks and shops along the way. The next day we arrived for our class early and again Masa was there to warmly greet us. From the moment we arrived the hands-on fun and knowledge transfer commenced! We had a glorious time with our two instructors, with Yuki taking the lead and sharing her knowledge regarding all aspects of the meal preparation. They were wonderful and knowledgeable instructors, and what a superb feast we enjoyed at the end of the class! If time permitted we definitely would have registered for additional classes.
What a fun way to immerse yourself in Japanese cooking. We made bento boxes which were delicious and creative. Our hosts were so sweet and helpful. The meal was delicious with plenty of extra for later.
This was a great experience. The place seemed hard to find but just stop in and ask once you've arrived and the shop owner will take you right to your Cooking class. Yuki was so fun to talk to and had everything prepared for our experience. We had homemade miso soup (which is 1000x better than what most restaurants are serving in the states and even some in Japan). We chose the tempura and okonomiaki to cook. It was a great time full of great conversation. I would definitely recommend this to travelers looking to gain insight into Japanese cuisine and to anyone who just loves food, cooking or having great conversations. 10 out of 10.
Yuki was ABSOLUTELY amazing . The food was delicious she is so patient and has a lot of knowledge on the food and culture . I would recommend for couples , friends and family who want to learn traditional meals and also have a great time . I can’t wait to go home and practice what I learned . I also tried the beer and it was delicious and went well with the meal .
We took a wonderful cooking class making an authentic bento box. The ladies who hosted the class we amazing. It was a wonderful all around experience.
We had so much fun. Yuki was a wonderful teacher and so nice. We made udon, gyoza, miso soup, and mochi. It was a fun experience for my parents and I!! Highly recommend!
Super fun and delicious! We really enjoyed our time and highly recommend! The area around the location also has lots of cute shopping and restaurants. A highlight of Tokyo for us.
Yukiko was kind and welcoming. She answered any questions we had about the food we were making. She was thorough in showing us the cooking techniques and explained how it affected the dish's final quality. We made okonomiyaki and udon noodles from scratch and they were both delicious.
Hands down the best part of our trip. The ladies spoke great English and were a wealth of knowledge for the culture and food. 10 out of 10. The food is great and the recipes are better.
Extremely friendly, fun, and educational. One of the best cooking classes I have ever taken. Highly recommend as a must do when you go to Tokyo!!
We took my family today to the Bento box class. Everyone loved it! The cooks leading the class were so patient and helpful. Thank you so much.
It was amazing, Yuki and Ichi were absolutely fantastic to be with. Delicious food and experience, we learned a lot while making this bento box.
Yuki was so kind and a great teacher! We made gyoza and sushi and both were delicious. She even made us mochi with ice cream and red bean paste because we mentioned we’d never tried it. I would highly recommend this class! Very fun and enjoyable
Highly recommend for families. Dealt with peanut allergy brilliantly. Excellent teacher, very welcoming. Lovely chat about local area and cooking/family life in Japan during the class. We made miso soup, 5 types of sushi plus mochi. Was about 2 hours including eating time. Easy to find from the station in an older part of the city. They recommended the local shrine which was minutes away and definitely worth the detour on route back to the station.
What a great experience! Our chef and instructor, Yuli, is a terrific teacher and skilled English speaker, who put us straight to work preparing the ingredients—chopping, slicing, grinding, mixing, then actually doing the cooking—while she explained some of the proper techniques to creating traditional Japanese food, as well as alternative ways of using other fresh ingredients. Best of all, we learned the WHY of what we were doing. We made a delightful and complex Miso Soup from scratch making home-made dashi, then using things like wakame , bonito flakes and Konbu kelp. Next we made Okonomiyaki—a delicious grilled fritter/pancake dish with lots of fun and unexpected ingredients, and last we made a lovely Nasu Dengaku (Miso-glazed eggplant) that was topped with two delightfully different glazes and sesame seeds. Of course our big reward was getting to eat all this yummy food! You will not go home hungry! This was so fun! We’re already planning to re-create this meal for friends when we get home!
Amazing experience! I went with my father, very friendly and welcoming. Fun learning experience that tasted good! Would definitely recommend! :D
Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Friendly and informative with a delicious end to it all. Highly recommend. Goshi sosama!
This experience was amazing! We learned how to make two variations of sushi, miso soup, a main course and a dessert. The foods were fresh and full of flavor. We learned a lot! The host were amazing and friendly. Very educational! Such a great time!
So homey! Very welcoming and warm environment! We made the teriyaki chicken, sushi, and miso soup, and it ended up being so good! Ichi and Yuki were incredible, and would be happy to do this again!
Our cooking class with Yukiko-san was fantastic! It was fun, engaging and best of all, we made delicious food together. We made miso soup, tempura and rolled sushi. The entire experience was more than just about cooking. You learn about Japanese culture while enjoying Japanese food. Every ingredient has a regional history and preparation method. We found out Miso in Nagoya is darker and stronger just like Yukiko-san said it would be! Making rolled sushi was the highlight of the class. We had never made rolled sushi before. Yukiko-san was such a patient teacher. The rolled sushi we made was very good and tasty; we may never buy pre-made sushi again! If you are thinking of taking this class, just sign up! You will be guaranteed to have fun and have great food at the end. Yukiko-san’s English was so very good and she was a pleasure to cook with and learn from. We would highly recommend this cooking class with Yukiko-san! She was a wonderful teacher.
