Private Customizable Tokyo Tour (Train, Walking, Car On Request)

A big thank you to Claire for looking after us on our first day and first visit to Japan . We left all the planning up to Claire to show us a variety of sights and she planned the day to flow seamlessly. We particularly liked the traditional Prefecture of Yanaka , an area we would never of visited on our own . Do yourself a favour and just book this experience, you won’t be disappointed and will save you a lot of time with more time to experience Japan .

Vivian spent 8 hours with us in Tokyo. She picked us up at our hotel and the first thing she did was help us get a Suica card and show us how to use it to take public transit and to make purchases from the vending machines that are every where around the city. So easy to walk and take public transit. As the tour is customizable you could literally pick and choose whatever you wanted. We were first time visitors so we requested the highlights (the scramble, Shibuya, Godzilla, vintage shops, sushi on a conveyor belt, Golden Gai district, Takeshita Street, Meiji Temple, Ginza, arcade streets) We had a great day!

We were able to choose what we wanted to see. Everything was arranged via e- mail ahead of time.

Day 1 you are jet lagged and a bit overwhelmed. The tour is a great way to go up the learning curve and get organized with a metro card, tips on using the train, and getting to a couple of neighborhoods without spinning your wheels. Claire our tour guide gave us 3 very different views of Tokyo, a calm but interesting n'hood, a very busy crowded one and then the zen of the imperial gardens. It was a great initial sample of the city.

We enjoyed spending the day with Vivian in Tokyo. She is Australian who grew up in Tokyo with her parents so her English is perfect and she knows Tokyo. Vivian helped us shop for needed items, took us to a traditional Kimono store where we were dressed up and took photos and visited a nearby Pagoda. We had lunch at a Shabu-Shabu restaurant with a high rise view of downtown Tokyo. Vivian took us to an interesting shopping area named Shibuya and we rode in a taxi through the edge of Ueno Park where we saw numerous Cherry Blossom trees in full bloom. She also took us on a local train back to the area of our hotel in Shinjuku. We had a perfect day on a privately led tour.

Vivian was a spectacular tour guide for Tokyo. On this 8 hour tour we got to see so many cool and interesting sights of Tokyo. This tour can really be anything you want but we let her take charge and show us what she thought was best and have no regrets. We also got to eat at some small hole in the wall restaurants that we never would have found otherwise that I will now crave for the foreseeable future from across the globe. Make sure to ask her about the happy cakes and gyoza for an amazing bite. Overall this tour felt more like exploring a new city with a local friend than a paid tour guide.

Vivian was great! She geared the tour towards our interests & we got to see a lot of fun & interesting spots that we wouldn't have found on our own! Highly recommend! :-)

Our guide was Claire. She couldn’t have been more helpful. It was our first day in Japan, she showed us how to buy a train ticket and navigate the train station. I had a list of places I wanted to see and Claire took us there, and showed us many things along the way. She selected a great spot for lunch, based on what we felt like eating. Never felt rushed, nor just standing around. You can be our guide anytime Claire. 😀

Our guide Viv was awesome. She explained the trains to us, helped us get some health supplies, took us to a used camera shop, to her favorite sushi shop, and pretty much every place we had on our list. She was Australian, but Japanese certified so helped us find what we needed. When she first met us she said this was our tour, and could be customized just for us. She never made me feel bad for asking for breaks, when my legs were tired from walking. I would wholeheartedly recommend this tour, and Viv in particular. Just be prepared for walking!!

The fully customizable aspect of this tour worked very well for us. My partner and I arrived in Tokyo a couple of days before beginning a 15-day small group tour that traveled to other cities and ended in Kyoto. The Tokyo sites included in the formal tour did not visit all the must- see highlights that we had on our list. After signing up for the Customizable Tokyo Tour, we were contacted by our guide, Vivian. I responded with a list of the sites we wanted to visit during our eight hour tour. It was a very easy and comfortable process. Vivian was a good listener and promptly responded to my questions. After only a few email exchanges she had the information she needed to develop our tour. Vivian was a delight to work with. Due to her experience she was able to craft a tour that included more than what was on our list. She was also able to make the city come alive and provided a lot of information and context to help us better understand Japan in general and Tokyo in particular. Since this was our first visit to Japan, we were intimidated by the size of Tokyo and the complexity of the subway and train system. It was a huge bonus that Vivian met us at our hotel and off we went to explore the city. We had a great time! Vivian was very knowledgeable and accommodating to our interests and our desired pacing.

Vivian was amazing. Knowledgeable and fun to some day with. She was helpful also for other aspects of our trip such as buying train tickets and purchasing items. Vivian was adaptable and showed us exactly what we wanted to see

Vivian was knowledgeable, easy to talk to, personable without being too familiar, and not at all at fault for the lousy weather the day of our tour. She increased our knowledge of a place entirely new to us. Were we to order this tour again, we would specifically request her.

This customizable tour a great way to start a trip to Tokyo. It was our first time, and Vivian assisted us in navigating the train system as we explored. She communicated well prior to the tour, was flexible with the itinerary and time, and made suggestions regarding other places we might want to visit. There is no doubt we were able to see much more of Tokyo in one day than we would have without her guidance.

This was an outstanding tour by Vivian! She expertly navigated us all all over Tokyo showing us many sights and places that we found fascinating. We ended up trying a variety of great food that she recommended as we explored Tokyo and also got to find some souvenirs that we are really excited about! Vivian is very easy to chat with and has great insight into a large variety of topics, this made downtime between locations pass by extremely fast. Bonus points if you're into anything true crime related, she has an encyclopedic knowledge of all things Tokyo crime related which was fascinating. In summary this is the tour to book if you want to truly feel taken care of and have a great time.

I wanted to get a tattoo while on my recent trip to Tokyo, but I didn't know how to start. I learned about this package from some people who took Vivian's Kabukicho Macabre Tour. I felt that the pricing was fair to essentially have someone help me find a good tattoo parlor and help translate for me the things I was looking for. I ended up getting a nice tattoo at a great little place I never would have found otherwise. I'm going to hire her again next time I'm in Tokyo to go see some nightlife spots around Shinjuku.

Vivian was a wonderful tour guide. She gave a very comprehensive tour of Tokyo. I really appreciated her help as a personal shopper helping me find a bunch of speciality cosmetic products that would have been next to impossible for me to find on my own (speciality gifts requested from back home). I also appreciated Vivian's flexibility, adapting our tour according to my interests. She is very knowledgeable and her fluent Japanese was a life saver navigating some of the more complicating situations such as our brief visit to a Pachinko parlour.

Excellent and Informative private tour with Vivian today. We booked a private 8 hour tour. This was our first day in Tokyo. Vivian took us too many areas in Tokyo via trains. It was great because we learned how to use the amazing train system. She is very knowledgeable about Tokyo life and culture and where things are. It was a great day to start our first visit to Japan. Well worth it.

We took a walking tour in Tokyo. Our tour guide, Vivian was super nice, well organized and knowledgeable about Japan history, culture and food. Her love for Japan shines. She took us to some great spots to visit which we would not had found on our own to visit. She is excellent in the subway system that saves us a lot of time. She is completely bilingual in English and Japanese. We would highly recommend her.

We had a spectacular customized tour throughout Tokyo this week with Vivienne. She had an encyclopedic knowledge of all things Tokyo as well as the societal and cultural elements of the city. She also customized our tour to take us to multiple areas that were of special interest to us. With Vivienne as our guide we were able to see many more sights and gain a deeper understanding of the culture in those areas than we would have been able to accomplish on our own, and possibly with other tour guides. I would strongly recommend this tour.

We went on this tour for our first day in Tokyo and we where very happy about it. Planning the day was easy via e-mail prior to the tour date. Vivian was very knowledgeable, nice, and easy to be around. She took us to the places we had planned. We are a family of Four (including kids 11 14) and we all had a great day and felt Well prepared for our vacation. We highly recommend this trip.

Vivian our tour guide was excellent. Very friendly and we went at our own pace using the metro. She kept in touch and arranged the itenary before hand. It was a walking tour, we managed to see a lot in 1 day. Thanks to Vivian for helping us navigate around Tokyo couldn’t have done it on our own.

It has been two weeks since we got back from Japan and I still am super happy with my experience! She was super fun, but didn't take over the trip. She took us to all the places we were interested in and a few weeks haven't heard of. If anyone in my proximity mentions that they are going to Tokyo, I will be sending them her way!

I was super nervous to visit Tokyo for the first time and found this customizable trip. While there weren't any reviews of this tour, the guide (Vivian) had stellar reviews for her guided tour of Kabukicho. I sent an email to find out more information and quickly received back a thorough and friendly response. From there, we started discussing different options and putting together a two day plan. The entire process made me feel so much more at ease. Vivian was incredibly flexible, kind, and communicative. She really went above and beyond trying to find us the best places to visit. As we went about our action packed days, Vivian provided all sorts of interesting information, stories, and answered any crazy or silly question we had for her. The chats alone, were worth the price of the tour! From start to finish, this was a great experience that far and away exceeded expectations.
